Ftp time out

when transfering a file to an ftp site, it appears final cut server first touches a new file on a remote ftp site, then encodes the source file, then starts uploading. this causes the connection to the ftp server to time out if the encoding takes a long time.
unfortunately, i cannot change the timeout setting on the remote ftp server (not my server). anyone know how to prevent this? anyone know what fcs is using to upload via ftp? is there maybe a config file in the os where i can set a "keep alive" value?
d.

No, but I can give you a workaround:
Instead of having a copy response encode to the FTP device, create a local watcher that you can set as the destination for your transcoding copy response. Be sure to wildcard exclude "fcsvr*" so that the watcher does not grab the file before it has been given its final name. On the watcher, apply a copy response with no transcode option followed by a delete response.
If you are triggering a subscription on an existing asset to get this whole ball rolling, I also recommend adding a script response to the subscription stack after the transcode copy response. Make it do this:
Command path = mv
Parameters = "/<path to local watcher>/\[Title].mov" "/<path to local watcher>/\[Asset ID].mov"
Include the quotes when you set the parameters, they are important. This response will rename your transcoded movie with a unique integer instead of the potentially FTP-unfriendly asset title value that is the default for copy responses. Of course, if your transcode makes something other than a .mov, adjust the parameters above for the file type suffix your transcode produces.

  • FTP Time Out - Cannot Open Remote Folder

    I am using Dreamweaver CS3 and windows Vista.  I have set-up site definition (with user id and password) and used to be able to connect to the remote server, open remote folders, and upload and download files using Dreamweaver.  However, all of sudden I cannot open the host directory remote folder where all of my website information are, It just times out.  I can connect to the server, if I don't specify the host directory.  I changed FTP time out in dreamwever to increase ftp time, but still it times out.  I used to be able to open the host directory without any problem, and I have not changed any information in site definition. I have tried to use fireFTP, and I can connect to the server but cannot open the the host directory, same as in Dreamweaver.
    Other pople working on the same website, with same site definition with the same user name and password can connect and open the same host directory remote folder using Dreamweaver on their pcs without any problem.  So it seems like the problem is with my pc or Dreamweaver setting, even though I have not changed any settings.
    Does anyone know what would be causing this problem and how I can resolve this issue?  Thanks.

    I found out that the remote folder which I can't open (host directory) contains many wmv video files, which might be causing the problem of timing out using Dreamweaver on my PC.  Other people can open the same folder using their Dreamweaver on their PCs.
    I can connect to another remote server and open all the folders in Dreamweaver without any problems.
    Is there any settings I can change in Dreamweaver or on PCs to resolve this issue, or any other suggestions?  Thanks.

  • 10 min ftp time out!! help!!

    This is a fairly old story, it begins around 2004 – 05 ish…
    For over two years, two different linksys wrt54g routers (v5 & v6), and 3 different cable providers I have continually had the same problem; ftp sessions beyond my local network constantly time out during file transfers at exactly 9 minutes and 59 seconds. This timeout occurs every single time no matter what. I have tried multitudes of different ftp softwares, several different computers as well as four different operating systems. (win 98, XP, mac OS, & vista) I also run a ftp server to share files among my friends both on and off my local network. People who connect to me do not have this time out problem as long as my server runs on port 21 and only 21 (any other port and my friends have the 9:59 time out too). For clarity’s sake let me repeat; ftp problem only occurs from sessions where one of my computers is a client and not a host. Also please note the time out will happen on any port. Because of said fact, this leads me to only one possible conclusion all wrt54g’s have lousy ftp support...!
    I hope that there is something I have missed; should I toss in the towel and buy a third, new router of a different manufacturer this time or is there still hope? Please note: aside from the constant ftp time out issue, the wrt54g works pretty well and has always been reliable for every other task. (ftp, usenet, pop3 e-mail, p2p, http, etc…)
    Some info about my network:
    I am using a linksys WRT54G v5 wireless router with firmware version 1.00.9
    My ISP is a 10/100 cable.
    I have all router firewall stuff turned off and have DMZ bound to the computer that hosts ftp server. Now I know this makes my network a bit hacker friendly, but these are the only settings that allow people to ftp from me with out time out.
    Well that’s about it, if you have read this far then, please, have a great day!

    Ok I have connected a windows XP and then a windows Vista machine diretly to my cable modem and I must report no ftp problem at all. I was able to download a huge file on my first try (XP) with no disconnects, entire transfer took 3 hours.
    Please note: I have installed the latest firmware on my wrt54g, (1.02.2) and once sucessfully "flashed" I reverted my router back to factory defaults and then re-put my orgional settings in and still must report nojoy.
    This is nothing new, I have been trying to resolve this issue for about 1-1/2 to 2 years now. The only reason that I have not switched to a different router is because I like the wrt54gv5 easy setup and good stable performance(port time-out problem aside).
    In conclusion let me just state, I don't think there is anything "wrong" with my wrt54gv5. I believe the routers are programmed to drop ports after 10 mins as a safty precaution, I just want to bring light to this issue, and to plead my case to linksys that they make future wrt54g firmware that will allow one to change the interval or disable port time out feaure all together. I don't ftp much anymore as a result of this router's performance, however wrt54gv5 works really great for all other applications that I use it for.
    Have a great day!

  • Time out condition for FTP parameters in communication channel

    Hi
    Could you please tell what should be the maximum limit for time out condition in receiver file communication channel for FTP.
    it should be either 120,90 or 60 seconds or can we exceed time than this?
    Thanks in advance
    Best Regards,
    Harleen Kaur Chadha

    There is no hard limit, but the time limit should be less than the polling interval: if you set the polling interval to 60 seconds, your timeout interval should be less than that value. If you exceed this value, you have the risk of an adapter deadlock (adapter stops polling)
    You can imagine that a timeout interval of 300 seconds would not make much sense.

  • FTP Connection Time-Out Issue

    *THE PROBLEM:* OS X specific FTP clients time-out intermittently when I try to upload files to any given server directory.
    *TROUBLESHOOTING FAILURES:*
    * Tried uploading the files to the same directory using different FTP clients (listed below).
    * Tried using another Mac in the same office with the same client to upload the same files to the same directory at the same time and different times.
    * Tried plugging in with an actual network cable cable.
    * Tried toggling on/off passive mode both in the FTP clients and the OSX system preferences.
    * Tried using the Binary (RAW DATA) upload format.
    * Tried recreating the FTP profiles for the connections.
    *TROUBLESHOOTING SUCCESS:*
    * Tried uploading the same files to the same directory at a different location
    * Tried uploading using filezilla in a Windows XP Pro virtual machine in my otherwise problematic work location.
    I'm a web-designer. So FTP is a major part of my work-flow. My connection follows this setup:
    My office is somewhat remote so my local ISP uses a Microwave transmitter (line-of-site) to make connection with a receiver at my home, which in-turn is plugged into a little wireless router. I connect to the wireless router with my Airport card in my MacBook Pro.
    I use a number of applications that are standalone or have integrated FTP clients including:
    * Fetch
    * Interarchy
    * Cyberduck
    * CODA (AND)
    * Dreamweaver
    Can anyone offer me any explanation why my FTP has these problems.

    Have you tried turning off the Firewall yet?
    Since you have Fetch, let's try the transcipt messages as ScottMcGuire puts it...

  • DW FTP connect / time out?

    We had our server hacked last week, now we are taking more
    precautions.
    Someone suggested while we are using Dreamweaver to be sure
    to 'close' the ftp connection manually after each upload.
    When does dreamweaver time out? (ie if we leave the office
    and leave DW open, will the ftp connection remain 'open'
    indefiently?)

    yeah, i'm pretty sure you stay connected either until you
    close the
    program, or you click the little disconnect button, or you
    get
    disconnected in some other way. but you can have Dreamweaver
    open and
    disconnected from the site at the same. if you look at the
    Files panel,
    under the site name where the Get and Put buttons are,
    there's a
    connect/disconnect button.

  • Error time out to connect FTP server

    Hi Experts,
    I am getting the error in receiver communication channel (FTP) as :
    An error occurred while connecting to the FTP server ''. The FTP server returned the following error message: 'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: The control connection to the FTP server ""  timed out while reading the server reply.'. For details, contact your FTP server vendor.
    Getting this error for a particular interface. Changed the time out parameter but not working.
    the same IP address is used for same receiver but different interface and it is in green status.
    tried to restart the adapter but same time out error.
    Same configuation is done for two receiver channels .. but getting above error for a particular interface.Please help.
    Thanks,
    Swapnashree

    Hi Swapna,
        If you are facing problem with only one interface then you make some dummy changes in configuration(ID) to that perticular channel and activate.
    After doing this you just restart your communication channel and check if you have any luck.....
    Also check if you have permissions ......for the user and folder which you are accing in your channel...

  • My regular FTP site suddenly times out - after onl...

    Hi
    Not sure if this is the right forum but due to some problems I found myself unable to pay the monthly bill by the due date. After some time going round in circles with the famous auomated menus I managed to find a real person and explained the problem. I asked if I ould have until 19th February to pay. They said the latest they could allow was 14 February UNLESS I was able to  to pay £20 - £30 towards total of £51  before that.
    I managed to borrow £20 which I paid online and I was still connected on the 14th and today too BUT my website FTP which I access daily has suddenly stopped connecting giving me a time out message. No one else using it has experienced any problem.
    So I was wondering whether it was possible that BT have decided to block my access to this IP of this FTP site until the balance of the bill is paid. I have no evidence of this except the co-incidence that the last day they would originally give me to settle the bill coincides with the sudden inability to connect to my FTP site. (I can connect to other FTP sites that I use occasionally with different IP's with no problem.)
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Solved!

    Hi Shadowmike,
    I don't think this issue has anything to do with BT billing restrictions. When your broadband is restricted due to payment issues you can not access any sites and you get redirected to a BT.com payment page.

  • SSIS FTP connection Time out issue

    Hi,
    I have a package about 300MB downloading from a client's FTP out side of company,it was working for about 1 year , now I got time out error after 60% downloading.
    I can manually download the package thru IE , so I guess it's NOT the connection issue. When I check the FTP connection , I noticed an interesting thing :
     1> Time out range is 1-300, and 0 should mean NO TIME OUT , however, it seem whatever number I saved for TIme out , it's back to 60 sec (Default value)  --I tried both on VS 2008 R2 and VS 2012
     2> Package will be timed out after 5-6 minutes after the package start running
    3> Error message is :
    Connection manager "FTP Connection Manager"     Description: An error occurred in the requested FTP operation. Detailed error description: Receiving file "XXX.zip".  The operation timed out  .  End Error
    Error: 2014-05-16 14:29:26.34     Code: 0xC002918A     Source: Download zip file from PV FTP FTP Task     Description: Unable to receive files using "FTP Connection Manager".  End Error
    Had anyone seen this error before ?  Any one tried to set the time out as 0 with succeed ?
    Thank you all in advance !

    EW

    Hi Eva,
    It may occur due to the Firewall blocking. Please add Inbound and Outbound rules for Port 21, and program DtsDebugHost.exe and DTExec.exe.
    As a workaround, you can use FTP batch file instead of the SSIS FTP Task:

  • Firmware upgrade times out (BEFW11S4 v4)

    Hi, my firmware upgrade times out everytime and i've read that the only way to get past this is by flash-upgrading the router through this web address ftp.linksys.com/pub/network but the link doesn't work for me and says '550 failed to change directory'. Is there another link i can try or another solution?
    Previous thread: http://forums.linksysbycisco.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wireless_Routers&thread.id=122275

    Download Firmware 314 KB...
    Download TFTP Utility...
    After downloading the Firmware rename the file(like - befw11s4)...
    Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
    Double click the TFTP.exe file and click run.
    For Server- Enter the IP Address of the router that you assigned.  By default, the router is 192.168.1.1...
    For Password- Enter the password you assigned the router. By default, the router’s password is “admin”.
    For File- Click the triple “…” button and browse for the .bin firmware file...
    Click Upgrade button to start upgrading.  A progress bar should show up to show the progress.
    Once the Upgrade is done press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Connection to server times out

    Hi, I know I've seen somewhere that you can set how long before your connection to your remote server times out in DW. After a few minutes of editing files, and then when I go to upload them to my host, It takes forever just to make a connection. I used CS3 for a while, then upgraded to CS5. CS3 didnt seem to have this issue.
    Another issue I seem to have is when I DO put files to my remote, sometimes the files dont seem to reflect changes I made. For instance, I added an id attribute to a firm field, uploaded my file to the remote, hard refreshed my browser viewing the same page and viewed source. The form field id was not there! So I clicked the expand local and remote files button and pulled the file over to the remote manually!
    Maybe these are issues with my hosting company? Anything I can do to ensure my remote connection stays connected, at least for an extended period of time if not indefinately. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Nancy, thats for the tips and info. I've tried most of what you suggested. One thing I never thought about though was toggling passive mode on and off. For some reason I just always assumed this should be on by default. So I will try that and see how it goes over the next day or so.
    Also the FTP optimize performance was checked. Seems like I had an issue with this a while back, so I unchecked it as well.
    Now the other issue of why updated files arent showing up on my remote. Yes I always use ctrl+F5 to refresh my browser. Again, this morning when I did that very thing, and then viewed source, the updated code was not there. The code I am referring to was about 20 lines of javascript that was showing in dw code view, but not in ff source view. So not sure about that one. As you said its possibly my host provider. Thanks again!

  • PACMAN: connection time out, PASV

    Hello:
    This seems to be a regular topic in the forum, but I tried to solve and I could not.
    I just installed Archlinux, so, I'm still in console mode and can not paste the information.
    When I try to do the:
    pacman -Syy
    for the update, I get that the connection times out.
    I activated the:
    XferCommand=/usr/bin/wget --passive-ftp -c -O %o %u
    For some diagnose, and it hangs in the tag PASV ..., which I do not the meaning.
    I uses ping and it works, I can receive and send packages.
    I selected different mirrors, like some 15, and, in all, I get this error.
    I changed in the /etc/rc.conf some network things: read in a forum that, in that file, I must change the:
    gateway="default gw 192.168.0.1"
    to
    gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1"
    And did not work. Also I take out the "!" in the gateway, with the same results. After all that, I putted in the original form.
    I'm behind a the most horrendous proxy in my college, it block many pages, but I do not thing that's the problem, because in Windows I can download from ftp, etc. After all, when using ping, it works!
    Any suggestion please?
    EDIT: I have a 64 bit system, if that suggest something.

    Hello:
    Well, the "error" message is that the "connection times out", after that, it tries to reconnect to the same mirror, and again, it gives me that message. Later, it goes to another mirror -if I have it uncommented-, and so on, until my mirror list ends.
    In the /etc/rc.conf I uncommented the following line:
    XferCommand=/usr/bin/wget --passive-ftp -c -O %o %u
    So, when I do "pacman" I get some additional information -which I can not understand-, but It connects to the server of the mirror, and some flags appears, but in the PASV flag, it hangs, until I get the connection times out message. Any idea of what indicates this flag? -passive something?-
    In my /etc/resolv.conf I got:
    domain: XXXXX.com
    name server: XXX.XXX.X.XXX
    What can I do with this information. I did not modify any file after installation, just what posted at the beginning of the thread.
    I can ping to any page, for example, www.google.com, whit few lost data, and I receive the packages.
    Waiting for your answers. (help!!)
    Greetings
