Gauges & Instruments Life report

Dear PM Gurus,
In One My scenario, user wants to get the life of gauges & instruments (when its start date and scrap or inactive date)? i am trying in standard report but i am not find any thing. then i went for Query (Quickviewer report) in that one i take n MPOS & MPLA from the bothe tables i get the Equipment , material , serial number and Start of cycle date of gauge. why i am taken start of cycle date (actually equipment or serial number created on GR time , but user can't issue the same day to the production or floor area. when he will issue to the floor then he considered the start of cycle date as issue date. But i am not getting Scrap date when i am trying to connect the MPLA and MKPF there is no connection. and i required the equipment status also.
please suggest me how i have to do to get the report of instrument or gauge?
its very urgent for me.

If this is a "one off" requirement, then why don't you run IW38 and get a list of planned maintenance orders for the equipment, and then run IE05 to get the equipment data. Then use Excel to join the two sets of data...
Otherwise it may be easier to create a custom ABAP report

Im trying to create a Live chart and a Gauge for my dashboard in IR 11.1.1.3 Ver.
I see the them in the design mode.. but when i try to add the FACT value it doesnt allow me to do it.
Even if i try to see the report in the run mode i get blank screen.
I tried even with a simple result which has

Service2 95
And can i use these Live charts and Gauges with Essbase as the source??
Is there any prerequisite for the Live charts and gauges to display the data..
Any document or post on the above problem will be helpful.

the cannot be any null records in the facts or dimensions used.
are you sure the adobe components are properly installed...can you open/view other analysis that use Live Charts or sliders/guages?

Material Shelf life report

Want to know if there is any standard report available with the below fields to download.
PO NO, Line NO, Material NO, Quantity,Batch NO, shelf life Expiry date. Any table name which holds this data will also be useful.

There has no standard report available in SAP. You have to take help of ABAP and create Z report as per your requirement.

Report Control and Multiple Datasets/Result Sets

I have four results sets, Plan, Forecast, Actual and SPLY per eight different product lines. I want to add conditional formatting of background color if actual is above or below Plan and/or Forecast. The report needs to export properly to Excel.
Is there a way I can use one control rather than multiple text boxes to display the data, allow for conditional formatting and export to Excel.? Thanks!

If I understand correctly, you have a dataset in the report which include four fields: Plan, Forecast, Actual and SPLY. Each filed contains eight values.
In SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), we can use table, matrix or list display report data in cells. The cells typically contain text data such as text, dates, and numbers but they can also contain gauges, charts, or report items such as images.

In your case, we can use expression to configure these items background color. Please refer to the following steps:
Click a specific text box in the report. Click BackgroundColor prompt in the Properties dialog box.
Click Expression prompt. And fill with expression below:
=IIF(Fields! Actual.Value>Fields! Plan.Valeu Or Fields! Actual.Value>Fields! Forecast.Valeu,”Red”,”Blue”)

SSRS 2008 Gauge ToolTips - expression does not work?

Hi,
I'm attempting to use various SSRS 2008 gauges in a report. When I attempt to use an expression in a tooltip such as '=Sum(Fields!ID.Value)' , the tooltip does not show up.
However if I replace that expression with a static value such as '1' it pops up.
It seems that an expression should work? Any reason that it would not?

I could reproduce the scenario you posted.
It is caused that string type is required for the
ToolTip property of the Gauge Pointer. So, please change the expression to
=CStr(Sum(Fields!ID.Value)).

GR posting date is being considered as Shelf life expiry date

Following settings made in material master:
In Purchasing view: Batch management check box ticked.
In Plant data / stor.1 view: (Shelf life data): Max storage period is 1, Time unit: YR
Min remaining shelf life:1, Total Shelf life: 365, Period Ind for SLED: D
Following data entered in GR:
Document date: 10.03.2011, Posting date:10.03.2011
In batch management tab of GR: Date of Manufacturing is :01.12.2010, SLED/BBD is appearing as 01.12.2011
While taking shelf life report (on 12.03.2011) for the said material following output is displayed:
Remaining shelf life SLED / BBD
-2 days 10.03.2011
In batch display (MSC3N) Shelf life exp. date is appearing as 10.03.2011 where as in GR document it is showing as 01.12.2011.
Kindly help where is the problem.

It is interesting.
I understood the problem but for getting solution, you have to get ABAPeru2019s help.
In calculation in report, the report date 12.03.2011(DD.MM.YYYY) is taken by system as 03.12.2011(DD.MM.YYYY) and SLED is as per GR document 01.12.2011(DD.MM.YYYY). So 1-3= -2 days. Now, for calculating SLED date, system is deducting 2 days (or you can say adding -2) in report date 12.03.2011 (DD.MM.YYYY). So this is 10.03.2011.
So in batch display (MSC3N), it is showing calculated date 10.03.2011.
Please explain it to ABAPer & debug it, you will get solution.
Before that try one thing. Check your user profile for date format. If it is MM.DD.YYYY, change it to DD.MM.YYYY, or vice versa. Then take report again , also check in MSC3N.

RME 4.1.1 - PSIRT and EoS/EoL reports authorization failure

Hello group,
I have RME 4.1.1 installed and I am attempting to generate either a PSIRT or an End Of Sale/End Of Life report. I start the report from RME->Reports->Report Generator and input all the appropriate information (CCO user/pass, email, etc) and then click "Finish". I get the popup that says to get Report Jobs for the status of the report, and as fast as I can navigate to Report Jobs I see that the job failed.
So I check invreports.log and this line stands out in particular:
[ Fri Oct 01 13:45:38 CDT 2010 ],ERROR,[main],com.cisco.nm.rmeng.inventory.reports.job.JobExecutor,runReport,773,Authorization failure for ajschroedercom.cisco.nm.rmeng.util.NotAuthorizedUserException: ajschroeder
I do have my Ciscoworks server integrated with ACS, so I reregistered my apps with ACS, and restarted ACS and Daemon Manager with no luck, I even applied the patch described in the following doc: https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9080
I am confident that I am missing something, but I have no idea what. I have attached my invreports.log

This is CSCsm77700 which is fixed in RME 4.2. I highly recommend you download the upgrade to LMS 3.2 from http://www.cisco.com/go/nmsevals . However, a patch is available for RME 4.1.1 if you contact TAC.

VISA - unable to queue operation & device reported an input protocol error.

To summarise I have two main questions:
How can I clear the VISA operation queue and what causes an input protocol error during transfer?
I am using a Tektronix AFG3022B Function Generator with latest firmware connected via USB and LabVIEW 2013 SP1 patch 2 (13.0.1f2) 32bit with NI-VISA 5.4.1.
If I have a small timeout, say 100ms, and perform a save operation and op complete query on the device (*SAV 1;OPC?), then do up to 10 VISA reads; the first few reads time out (as expected), but then I frequently get the following error:
-1073807305 (0xBFFF0037) VI_ERROR_INP_PROT_VIOL. "Device reported an input protocol error during transfer."
Once this occurs, the whole VISA session seems to become unstable and lots of the read operations fail returing this error code and not the timeout error (0xBFFF0015 (VI_ERROR_TMO)).
This only seems to happen when I do save/recall operations (either internal or to a mass storage device connected to the instrument), all other commands/queries timeout for the first few reads (as expected) then return the value. Do you think this is probably down to poor instrument firmware/hardware? Or am I using the VISA incorrectly? I would have thought that attempting to read VISA data to soon should only generate a timeout error and not a protocol error.
Reason for small timeouts:
Instead of setting the timeout to 4 seconds and having no way of cancelling the read operation I set the timeout to 100ms and run a for loop up to 40 times ignoring timout errors unless it's the last loop iteration. This means I can the operation within ~100ms.
What causes the VISA protocol error? I can't find much information on it.
Once the protocol error occurs and I keep repeating the *SAV command, I get the following error:
-1073807303 (0xBFFF0039) VI_ERROR_IN_PROGRESS. "Unable to queue the asynchronous operation because there is already an operation in progress."
Once this error occurs, how can I force a clear on the VISA queue without unplugging/power cycling the instrument?
Some NI I/O trace captures attached to show what happens and test VI.

I thought I would try to duplicate your problems, but I only have a Tektronix TDS Scope that has USB.
I am a big fan of using *OCP? to sync instruments control and your problem is of interest to me
This very simple write/read returns the *OPC '1' return char consistently between 175-185 ms. No problem
Trying your short timeout with a loop, I do not get what I or you expected.
If I run this with an adequate timeout (something well longer than the needed 185 ms) it returns in between 175-185 ms with one time through the for loop. As expected. No problem.
BUT! If I try setting the timeout to something below the needed 175 ms like your 100ms...
Sometimes it works but it takes over 2000 ms to return but only goes though the for loop twice.
But sometime it does not work at all, taking well over 10 sec to exit out of the for loop with a timeout error.
I never see the queue error that you are seeing
How long does it take to do a simple *SAV
I don’t think the queue error is coming from the instrument. You would have to send the instruments the SYSTEM:ERROR? Request before the instrument would report any of the instruments errors.
Be sure to set your Termination Char setting. I prefer to turn it off for the Writes so I control when to send it. But turn it on for the Reads
Also I noticed from your trace files that you use the *OPC? after a *IDN?. This is not needed as you will know the *IDN? is complete when your received the string back. In fact my Tektronix scope did not like it if I sent it "*IDN?;*OPC?\n". It would not send me anything back, not even the IDN.
Is the SAV command on your instrument so long that you need to be able to break out of the loop?

Instrumentation Hot Path or Call Tree depth

Hi,
I have a basic question regarding the profiler in Visual Studio 2013 running an Instrumentation report against a Console Application.
When I run an instrumentation profiler report against my programs often the Hot Path and Call Tree does not contain enough "depth" or "levels" of subroutines meaning whilst I can see at a high level where time is being spent I cannot
see at a detailed level.
I have created a basic test program to highlight this problem:-

What happened to subroutine Number5() which is the subroutine that actually contains the problem?
I have tried many options in VS (including Exclude small functions option in vsp project) to try and get the call tree to "go deeper" but it wont and I find myself having to go back to 3rd party products. Am I doing something wrong?

If you remove the code "Threading.Thread.Sleep(10000)", and then add some simple code, profile your app again, could you get the information about the "Number5()"?

Background Scheduling of Calibration Order

I want to scheule my calibration order in QM for calibration of Test Equipment in background.
I have created my maintenance order for calibration of Gauges / Instruments (which are defined as Equipments). The dates for the calibration have been calculated based on time. When I go to the transaction of scheduling the order & save, the inspection lot for calibration is generated & the equipment task list is assigned to the lot.
I want this to automatically happen in background. This is because I have thousands of equipments, for which I can not schedule the calibration manually.

MAX don't release LAN connction while communicating with Agilent 86122A

Dear guys,
Yesterday I met a communication issue while talking to Agilent 86122A via LAN.
It showed I cannot run MAX before launching LabVIEW; otherwise I'd have trouble in send commands in LabVIEW.
I doubt if MAX MAX don't release LAN connection while communicating with Agilent 86122A?
Please advise,thanks.
I debugged as below:
1, Ping the IP of Agilent 86122A shows internet is OK.
2, I restarted the instrument, LabVIEW reported the same error code.
3, I restarted PC, launched LabVIEW first and run the code (*IDN?), everything is OK!!!
4, Again, I send *IDN? With MAX, and it seemed to be OK.
5, hit x to close MAX and then run the same and simple code (*IDN?) in LabVIEW, but it reports error code -1073807346.

The documents you mention ahould include the proper prcedure for using this hardware in LabVIEW. Here are my recommendations:
The version of NI-VISA you mentioned is not valid. The most recent version is 4.6.2. I would recommend ugrading if you do not have this version. After the upgrade,ensure that tulip is enabled as well as the other settings and see if this helps.
When talking about the instrument, the biggest concern that usually is relevant with 488.1 is that it will not respond to *IDN?. In your case, it looks like it does, and should work as 488.2 is backwards compatible. It seems to me, the issue is still with the 82357A, and we have not yet reached the voltmeter.
In order for NI-VISA to work with your device, NI-VISA must be the primary visa driver.
Hope this helps, let us know how the upgrade turns out. If you continue to have issues, take some screenshots of the preferences in MAX and upload them on the forum.

I have not been able to get more than one line to route dynamically. Here is the setup code:

When both TTL5 and TTL6 are setup using viMapTrigger() I get the following error when calling niTClk_ConfigureForHomogeneousTriggers() for the second group. I am able to map one of the TTL lines across busses but not both. Any ideas?

Hi tonys10,
Why are you both manually mapping trigger lines using viMapTrigger AND automatically configuring the crosspoint switches using niTClk_ConfigureForHomogeneousTriggers? When you use viMapTrigger you are reserving the trigger lines. This may be why you receive the error. I am assuming niTClk_ConfigureForHomogeneousTriggers is all you want to do.
If you desire to manually map the trigger lines, please follow the instructions in the attached pdf. These instructions are also documented in the NI-TClk Synchronization Help.
Please let me know if you have further questions or if this does not resolve your issue!

Labview .exe as portable

Hi all,
is it possible to run a compiled Labview program like a "portable" ?
Means all necessary components (LV runtime, VISA etc) will be linked into one (big) *.exe during the application build and the programm is then running directly without any additional runtime/VISA installation.
I do not mean to build an installer with all components inside the installer and I do not mean a silent LV runtime installation from an installer. I would love to have everything in one *.exe , ready to run whatever PC I`m using...
Is something like this possible?

Cameyo works. I just tested it at home, and I will try a few more computers at work tomorrow to see how well the compatibility goes. Check it out. It takes awhile to install. Cameyo works by taking a "snapshot" of your system pre-installation, a "snapshot" of the system post-installation and then compiles the differences into a single executable program (called a Cameyo "app").
The instrucitons on the web site are easy enough to follow... but here is a list of things to keep in mind when using it to make stand-alone LabVIEW applicaitons:
* You need to make an installer that will install you LabVIEW program and the minimum amount of NI software (Runtime+whatever).
* You will probably be most successful if you capture the Cameyo app on a Windows PC that does not have any NI software previously installed. To capture the installation properly, Cameyo needs to be able to track all of the changes that the installer makes. In order to get a clean capture the runtime that needs to be included in the Cameyo app needs to be installed.
My test application (a simple LVM plotter program I use to process data), works and I haven't found any bugs while using it. The initial launch was a Cameyo window that asked if I wanted to launch my .EXE or a National Instruments Bug Reporting executable that probably comes included with the runtime somewhere. There was a checkbox to always run my .EXE.
My LVM plotter application listens for "OS Open File" events. Once I associated the correct file type to the stand-alone .exe, funtionality works as expected: double-clicking on files opens them in my software.
Pretty awesome. I really hadn't thought of this before. My boss was just complaining about having to install the runtimes (especially since some of my applications spread across multiple versions of LabVIEW), and this may be a solution. I think there might even be a way to edit a Cameyo app. It may be that once a proper LabVIEW Runtime "wrapper" is created, switching out your own LabVIEW application executable is trivial. I'll have to play with it some more.

Benefits of table partitioning on ASM controlled storage?

Hi everyone,
I understand that, as the documentation describes, table partitioning for the purpose of striping is a very good strategy for high performing OLTP databases. So you can explicitly assign partitions to different database-files, residing on different disks. A pretty clear benefit.
What about ASM controlled storage? Does it help partitioning your tables here, for the purpose of striping? Or is it even better to abandon the ASM option for the sake of reliable striping benefit?

My situation is the following:
I am a database developer/architect. In my organisation we have a DBA team, which has no knowledge of the application.
So, I am not in a position to test. I am supposed to order/require this or that from our DBA, in this case ASM or NO ASM. Partitioning of tables is my job.
That's why I am asking if anybody else has experience with this.
To our app: our challenge - when we go into production - will not be the mass of data, but the concurrent use of it from up-to 10.000 users. This is why I am considering a partitioning solution, suitable to the usage profile.
So does anybody have experience from similar scenarios? Is it possible to trace, what ASM actually does, e.g. does it stripe the tables across the drives optimally?
