Generate "override" annotations for legacy code?

Has anyone run across any utilities that will add
override annotations to existing class files? I have
a very large existing codebase that I would like to
convert to use that annotation, but doing it by hand
would be an exceptionally tedious task.This sounds like it should be possible using Jackpot (http://jackpot.netbeans.org/), but this particular transformation isn't one of their samples.

Does VECTOR exist only for legacy code support??

My colleague informed me that the VECTOR class was a JAVA 1.0/1.1 implementaiton and is only still around for legacy code support in JAVA 2. Is that a valid statement?? Does SUN publish anything about this issue??

In JDK1.3 doc it says Arraylist is faster than Vector but unsynchronized. So I guess it's better off using Arraylist in most cases, but Vector is still more convenient to use to ensure threadsafe.

How to generate Sequence Diagrams for existing code

Hi,
I have a web application written in Java/Jsp's. I am looking to generate sequence diagrams automatically for the existing source code using this tool. I am not sure if this is possible using this tool. Can some one please explain me if that is possible using this IDE tool? If so can you please let me know how this can be done?

Hi,
Yes, you can reverse engineer operations and create sequence diagrams using Java Studio Enterprise.
Just right-click on the operation in the UML model that has the source file associated with it, and select "Create Diagram from Selected elements" or "Reverse Engineer Operation".

The error states that the importData method must override a superclass method declaration. Strictly speaking, you are not overriding the importData method but implementing it, because "com.day.cq.polling.importer.Importer" is an interface, not a class. With Java 5, you were only allowed to use the @Override annotation on methods that override methods declared in a supertype. This changed with Java 6 where you could also use the @Override annotation for methods that implement methods of interfaces. Unfortunately, this specification change was not properly documented in Java 6 (see https://blogs.oracle.com/ahe/entry/override_snafu), but it is now with Java 7 (see http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/java/lang/Override.html).
I suspect that the compiler compliance level on your project is set to 1.5 (probably the default for the version of Eclipse you use). Changing it explicitly to 1.6 should resolve the compiler errors. To do that, open your project's properties in Eclipse, go to the "Java Compiler" section and set "Compiler compliance level" to 1.6.

-procs: Sets the template parameter procs_only_b as True, and default template only generates Procedure SuperBlocks and generates UCBsand subsystem wrappers for each of these procedures.
Is ther a way to create the same behavior under matrixx7 when -procs option is used?

These wrappers were separated into different templates. What you would need to do is to run the templates that you need. You can find these templates in the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\MATRIXx\mx_71.4\case\ACC\templates folder.

Annotation for interface implementation

I like the @Override annotation that you use when you're overriding a method from the parent's class.
It lets you know when you look at your code that it is overridden and that it is not just some local method.
Is there something similar for methods that implement different interfaces?
Like say you implement the Comparable interface.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to look at your code and know why some method is there?

Can I override the Pagination HTML code?

I am working on some apex templates and such and would like to override the code. I cant seem to find a hook into it. There doesnt seem to be much info on the External pagination functionality.
I am working with rewriting the borderless report template.
I have code for the Next and Previous Page Templates - thats fine. I cant seem to stop the wrapper though.

Discovering the Design Behind Legacy Code

Hi all,
There are lots of tools and utilities out there to help us design good code, and lots of design patterns and good methodologies for us to follow. However, when you're looking at legacy code, is there any "standard" way of trying to work out what's going on?
At the moment I'm just going through each class as it is called and trying to work out what it does and what it depends on - but this is really time consuming (not to mention tedious).
Does anyone know of a better way?

Do you have a UML tool that will allow you to build a model of the code, and then use that model to generate additional views?

Interfaces are not superclasses. In your example, the superclass of class Implementation is Object, not Interface.

Base classes generated by annotation processing

I'm currently trying to figure out how to best reference code generated by annotation processors from non-generated code (and vice versa). One thing that seems to work is to generate source code for a base class of a hand-written class. If the base class needs to call methods in the hand-written class, it's possible to generate suitable abstract methods. Generated code can be put into separate methods.
However, during the first round, the generated classes do not exist yet, and javac prints error messages. The compilation eventually succeeds. Is there some way to suppress those error messages? ECJ is worse in this regard, it doesn't produce class files in this case. Is this an ECJ bug, or is this approach to code generation simply not supported (and works with javac just by accident)?

With such a document, it might also be easier to figure out how processors are supposed to work.JSR 269 is designed to permit solutions to various complex scenarios rather than provide solutions. Those scenarios and their intended solution are not often obvious from the API specs.
You might like to take a look at https://hickory.dev.java.net/ where I have a project to supply some tooling to assist annotation processor authors, and a wiki to document things. Allocating time to this is not easy, but the 3 packages in the API there are pretty robust. The test cases in source code for those have plenty of examples of some of the more complex design goals, such as the ability to write an annotation processor which works correctly in an incremental compile scenario, when the generated file derives from more than one source file, not all of which may be included in an incremental compile.
Other than that, if you have any particular questions, just ask in this forum, and Joe (JSR 269 spec lead) or myself should be able to answer them for you.

Function Module to Generate Outbound IDOC for Sales Documents

Hello Experts,
Can someone please help me, I need to know which function module to use in order to generate the outbound IDOC for sales documents. Some of the fm's I have come across are the following:
IDOC_OUTPUT_ORDERS, but actually for Purchase Orders
IDOC_OUTPUT_ORDRSP, but did not generate any IDocs for my sample Sales Order.
Points will be given for any help provided.

Error during distribution for compiled code generation-Reply

Hi,
Looking at your error messages, it looks as though your build is failing during the code generation phase of an autocompilation. To determine why the code generator crashed, either look in the $FORTE_ROOT/log/forte_ex*.log files or don't use autocompilation and use fcompile.
There are many reasons why the code generator could crash. Some of the things I've come across are running out of memory and trying to find invalid classes.
If its the invalid class problem you'll find a message like:

This I have been doing from quite sometime successfully. Recently I

for compiled code. And I see only one of the .exe generated instead of

In Purchase Order Line item Maintaining Serial Numbers for Material Codes

Dear Gurus,
We have a business process in legacy system for Purchase Order like in PO line item, Material code with description, Quantity, unit of Measurement, Serial Number Start and Serial Number End is maintained, for example for Material code when we enter the data AXMLN00001 in Serial Number Start column, if the Qty 500 is maintained, by default system will calculate AXMLN00500 in Serial Number End column.
We understand that in standard SAP we donu2019t have this option of maintaining Serial Number Start and End in Purchase order Line item. Please let us know how this can be mapped and is it advisable to create two Z fields in EKPO table or else can we make any development.
Suppose if this is not possible in SAP for PO then in Banks if we want to place a order for Cheque books how we can maintain Start and End Serial Numbers to print in cheque books.
Also client is not agreeing to maintain manually Serial numbers in item text.

When the PO Item was created say for example Material had Valuation category "Y" and latter you wanted to change the category to "Y". Now system would have check for all open PO's etc...based on this you must have set Deletion Indicator to this Line Item to allow valuation category change in material master. Now when this Item got created in the table level (EKPO), system updates the valuation category "Y". Currently this valuation category is not active so it would not allow you to perform removal of deletion indicator as program cannot automatically nor you have an option to manually update the valuation category to this Item.

User exits to update a Zfield in AUFK table for T-code KO01(Order Creation)

Hi all,
I have a custom field(zZTEST) in aufk and coas struture(zztest) in order to display in the output generated by kok5 for order.
The reason for adding in coas struture is the ALV output in kok5 uses coas structure
I know aufk table gets an entry while creating an order in ko01.
When i save the order (i.e when i succesfully create an order) i have to pass a value to aufk-zztest so that the custom field in aufk for that internal order created has an value.
I was looking at the user exits available for ko01
i found 5 user exits for ko01
Exit Name---Description
COOPA002---Customer function for master data maint. - internal
COOPA003---User-Defined Fields in the Order Master
COOPA004---Customer function: Print order master data
COOPA_01---Customer check modules for internal orders
KKAZ0001---Customer check modules for internal orders
I have written the code break-point in all the includes associated with this USER EXITS.
Out of this only only 2 includes gets triggered when i click General data and investments tab .
I have the code in both of them and the aufk tables gets updated when i save an internal order and i can see the value in kok5 output as well.
To be frank this is what i want.
But my only worry is that when we create a new internal orders we don't have any data to be filled i.e mandatory fields in General data and INvestments tab.
i.e. user can create an internal order without even going to these tabs(General data and INvestments tab) in that case the custom field doesn't get updated and as a result of that i don't see that value in KOK5 ALV output.
Let me know what can be done or is there any other way that this can be achieved or the way i approached is right or wrong or am i am missing any user exits and the system is at 4.6c.
