Getting error while backing up database on a USB hard drive

Hi
I have run oracle 10g database installed on a Redhat linux AS4.I ran out of space so i tried to backup my database on a USB hard drive with RMAN.
I got this error in the middle of backup process.
ORA-19502: write error on file "/media/OneTouch_4/backup_dev/p9k30k6c_1_1", blockno 1969153 (blocksize=8192)
Note that i have not formatted the new hard drive in linux and just plug and play the hard drive.
I have read that i have to format the hard drive in linux (ex3).
what could be the problem? does the problem solve if i format the usb hard drive?
I will be grateful if i have your suggestions.
many thanks

    not sure where exactly to put this line in above script set the ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout to 0

    Hi Srk,
    I found the similar issue in this article, which had been sovled by adding the script below:
    $server = New-Object ("Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server") $dbInstance
    $server.ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout = 0
    Refer to:

  • Why do I get Error Code 35 when attempting to mount external hard drive?

    When I use Finder to Go, Servers, Connect to Server I am prompted to enter password. After I do that I hit Connect again which connects to the Server (Airport Extreme) and I see the external drive highlighted but then gives me Error Code 35. I had it working earlier but something is now obviously messed up. I have rebooted, restarted, hard restarted Airport, disconnected and reconnected hard drive. Help!!!! Does anyone know what Error Code 35 means on OS 10.4.11?

    Error code -35 means "No such volume; volume not found". Not terribly helpful.
    You have already tried everything I would have suggested. Maybe someone else will have some suggestions?

  • I am getting error while accesssing Oracle database

    i am trying to learn by playing around with '
    MORTGAGE LOAN APPLICATION.
    in database i have taken oracle.
    when i try to fire following query:
    select * from customer where custId={$ /process_data/@custId $}
    i am getting following error:
    Exception: Internal error.. Cause: ALC-DSC-000-000: com.adobe.idp.dsc.DSCRuntimeException: Internal error.

    Mehul
    I've not worked with Oracle but I'll give this a shot. Try the following:
    1) If the database you are querying is transcational, add the text (without quotes) "WITH (NOLOCK)" as part of your FROM clause. It may be possible for your DBAs to have set that any queries run without this to be rejected since it would result in locking the table.
    2) I assume, by your query, that custId is of an integer type but if it is varchar (String) then make sure to put your single quotes around the parameter afte the '='.
    I would ask the following:
    Where are you firing the query from? Are you doing it as part of a webservice the form is connected to or are you doing it inside Workbench using one of the JDBC services (or another means)?

  • Getting error while rebuilding master database in cluster environment

    I am testing a disaster recovery scenario in one of our test MS SQL server with 2 node cluster.  I am executing below rebuild command using MS SQL server setup.
    C:\U_Soft\SW_CD_SQL_Svr_Enterprise_Edtn_2005_64Bit_X64_English_1_x64_MLF_X11-57796>start /wait C:\U_Soft\SW_CD_SQL_Svr_Enterprise_Edtn_2005_64Bit_X64_English_2_x64_MLF_X11-57797\setup.exe /qb VS=DMZSQLTST REINSTALL=SQL_Engine REBUILDDATABASE=1
    ADMINPASSWORD=abcd1234$ SAPWD=abcd1234$
    I am getting the blow alert / error  the during setup execution
    “An installation package for the product Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (64-bit) cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package ‘SqlRun_SQL.msi’
    I have checked the package is available in the setup.

    Hello,
    Did you copy the setup file from a different place? The issue may occurs if you don't have access to the original media location of where the RTM bits where installed from.
    To resolve this issue, please try to use the  REINSTALLMODE with option V to re-cache the media from the new location. For example:
    C:\U_Soft\SW_CD_SQL_Svr_Enterprise_Edtn_2005_64Bit_X64_English_2_x64_MLF_X11-57797\setup.exe /qb VS=DMZSQLTST  REINSTALL=SQL_Engine REINSTALLMODE=v ADMINPASSWORD=abcd1234$ SAPWD=abcd1234$
    And then run the normal command to rebuild the database.

  • Getting error while taking MAX DB trans log backup.

    Hi,
    I am getting error while taking trans log backup of Maxdb database for archived log through data protector as below,
    [Critical] From: OB2BAR_SAPDBBAR@ttcmaxdb "MAX" Time: 08/19/10 02:10:41
    Unable to back up archive logs: no autolog medium found in media list
    But i am able to take complete data and incremental backup through data protector.
    I have already enabled the autolog for MAX DB database and it is writing that log file directly to HP-UX file system. Now i want to take backup of this archived log backup through data protector i.e. through trans log backup. So that the archived log which is on the file system after trans log backup completed will delete the archived logs in filesystem.  So that i don;t have to manually delete the archived logs from file system.
    Thanks,
    Subba

    Hi Lars,
    Thanks for the reply...
    Now i am able to take archive log backup but the problem is i can take only one archive file backup. Not multiple arhive log files generated by autolog at filesystem i.e /sapdb/MAX/saparch.
    I have enabled autolog and it is putting auto log file at unix directory i.e. /sapdb/MAX/saparch
    And then i am using the DataProtector 6.11 with trans log backup to backup the archived files in /sapdb/MAX/saparch. When i start the trans backup session through data protector it uses the archive stage command as "archive_stage BACKDP-Archive LOGBackup NOVERIFY REMOVE" If /sapdb/MAX/saparch has only one archive file it will backup and remove the file successfully. But if /sapdb/MAX/saparch has multiple archive files it gives an error as below,

    check the incarnation on both the sides i.e primary & standby

    hope you can solve by restting the incarnation.

  • Error while creating standby database for ebs prod database

    Hi,
    We are getting error while trying to create a standby database for EBS database by using RMAN DUPLICATE commands,
    Steps followed:
    1.) Backup the primary database (Ebs PROD db). This was done on 12-Mar-2012
    ***RMAN backups are scheduled to run @10:00 pm every night. Flash Recovery Area has been configured and backup is taken at this location
    everyday.
    2.) Tar the backupset, autobackup, archivelogs etc in FRA .... and copy this to the target server (STANDBY).
    *** Copy(oracle rdbms binaries and FRA) completed @12:00AM on 14-Mar-2012
    3.) Tried to create standby database by using RMAN duplicate on 14-Mar-2012
    RMAN> rman sys/sys@PROD auxiliary /
    RMAN> duplicate target database for standby dorecover nofilenamecheck;
    After, some time the RMAN DUPLICATE process errors out with,
    ORA-19563: header validation failed for file
    We are not sure about the cause of this error. While searching in Metalink, we got several notes (ex, 352074.1) but all the causes stated for this error
    are not applicable in our case. We double checked our instance to confirm this.
    We have also found that in PROD database there are 65 datafiles and after the RMAN DUPLICATE errors out in the targer server (STANDBY) the RMAN managed to restore 51 datafiles before erroring out.
    # Please note PROD database was also backed up on 13-Mar-2012. We have a suspicion that backup on 13-Mar may be a possible cause for this error but we are
    not sure.
    Need suggestions if there can be any other possible causes???
    We are in a fix and it would be appreciable if we get some quick suggestions..

    When opening the file to be placed in a copy or backup set, to be inspected, or used as the target for an incremental restore, its header was not recognized as a valid file header for a file of the indicated type (data file, archived log, or control file) belonging to the current database.
    Kindly Ensure that the correct files are being specified for the copy or backup operation.

  • Getting error while Enable Dashboard Widget

    Dear Experts,
    I am getting error while Enable Dashboard Widget
    u201CInstall SAP Business One Integration Service before enabling the dashboard widgetu201D
    Even I follow all step by step process.
    Thanks
    Kamlesh

    Hi Kamlesh,
    Have you tried the following:
    Deactivate the cockpit in your Business One database - Disable My Cockpit and also disable cockpit in General Settings
    Run EventSender Setup (in first step try to avoid using localhost or IP addresses)
    In third step press Test Connection, in fourth step make sure that your database is checked, press also Receiver but ton and then Test Connecion.
    Finish EventSender setup.
    Click on SLD in the B1i Framwork and ensure connection to the Company databsae (B1DI and JDBC) is successful.
    Go back to B1i Framework UI, click Scenarios in upper menu, then select Control in left menu and (re)activate Xcelsius scenario.
    Restart EventSender service, Integration Service and Proxy services via Servies (Computer Management)
    Now you can enable cockpit in your Business One database - enable cockpit in General Settings and then enable My Cockpit.
    After installation of B1ic, the company is not listed in the SLD
    Delete all entries of table SLSP and SLSPP in SBOCOMMON. Restart integration service. In SAP Business refresh the company list.
    These solutions are documented in the attached Note 1619422.
    Kind regards
    Sean

    Hello;
    Generally for the connection to work you need to add something like this to the listener.ora file :
    (SID_DESC =
        (global_dbname = STANDBY.hostname)
        (ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.2)
        (sid_name = STANDBY)
    )You should stop and start the listener on the Standby after adding this. Also your tnsnames.ora must be correct on both the primary and the Standby.
    Also you need an INIT for the Standby side :
    STANDBY.__db_cache_size=343932928
    STANDBY.__java_pool_size=4194304
    STANDBY.__large_pool_size=4194304

    RMAN>duplicate target database for standby from active database NOFILENAMECHECK;
    Keys to success
    1. New Standby start NOMOUNT on new password file. ( On Oracle 11 you must copy and rename the file from Primary server )
    2. Hard coded listener on new Standby server.
    3. Correct tnsnames.ora files.
    4. Correct duplicate command.
