    I can't get QuickTime to display gif images from the web. It will show the same gif file on my local machine, but if I put it on the web it will no longer display. My web browser shows that the url is valid, and will display the gif image. But QuickTime returns a "Error 47: Invalid URL" I have tried multiple computers, and have the same problem.

    First.
    You don't need a browser plug-in to display a .gif file and you really don't want to use QuickTime plug-in to display them.
    If you can view the .gif in a blank browser window (all by itself) copy that URL.
    Open QuickTime Player and Control-U. Paste the URL and see what happens.
    My blue Q has this URL:
    http://supportdownload.apple.com/discussions.apple.com/avatar-display.jspa?avata rID=111&file=av.png
    It is a .png file file but any image format could be used. Copy the URL and test to see how it works.

  • CS4 psd file display problem

    For some reason within the last few months a problem with the colors that Photoshop is displaying in the application. The colors are not actually wrong if you check the color picker, it's just how it actually looks when you're working on it. In addition, when you are moving the tab in Photoshop if it's not maximized, the color is correct.
    How it currently looks:
    How it should and does look when actually moving the file within Photoshop
    Has anyone seen this?

    Actually that was only half of it...next is to see if an updated video card driver can fix the problem permanently. Check with the GPU manufacturer's site (ATI/NVidia).
    What happened was probably that Windows update delivered a buggy (and outdated) driver. Next time check "hide this update" and it won't show up again.

  • Gif file opening through MS Picture Mgr instead of viewer

    Hi,
    We have gif files displaying in MS Picture viewer instead of  ECL viewer in sap.
    The bmp files are opening in ECL viewer.
    Please help in what needs to be done.
    Anirudh,

    Dear Anirudh,
    please check if you have installed the ECL Viewer properly. Please see the SAP note <a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1083901">1083901</a> and install the latest available version 6.
    Before I would like to ask you, to uninstall your former ECL
    Viewer before you installed Version 6? To check if the ECL Viewer is
    un-installed please search for WebViewer2d.dll file. If it is present
    then it means ECL Viewer is still installed on your PC. You can also
    check the folders and should be able to see all the dll's for ECL Viewer
    such WebViewer3d.dll/Printing.dll etc to make sure that there is not
    only single file but the whole installation.
    Generally there are two possibilities to un-install the ECL Viewer:
    - Uninstall the version integrated with SAP GUI by using SAP
    Installation scripts. You need to uncheck the 'EAI Viewer' component in
    'General Add-on' option.
    - Check add/remove program and if there is an entry like SAP Viewer,
    uninstall it.
    After this search again, and you should not get WebViewer2d.dll file on
    machine. Now reinstall the latest Viewer.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • Animated .gif files in mail. Problem persists. (PANTHER)

    3-17-07
    Happy St. Valentine's Day to all you Irish folks!
    I'm posting this even though there are threads in the forum that I have
    used and contributed to in the past on this topic.
    The problem PERSISTS!
    The problem/situation is that in mail from family/trusted friends, after I
    open the mail, there is no "Load Images" warning at the top but an
    animated .gif file is in the message! (don't get me wrong, i do sincerely
    love dancing bears. i just want some warning.)
    Any suggerstions?
    In mail preferences,viewing I have unchecked "display images and embedded
    objects in HTML messages".
    In mail preferences,junkmail I have "enable junk mail filtering" and
    "trust junk mail headers..." both checked.
    All junk mail is flagged as junk. (in junkmail,advanced and in rules).
    I keep the preview pane collapsed.
    I pay attention to flags and don't open junk from strangers.

    I have been making a game. Very simply, the game has a main class and another truely important class that extends JFrame, it is the map. In it i need to upload .gif files and display them. It worked up until recently because i needed to make a sepperate class. I know how to use the getImage() for Images and the the way for ImageIcons, but for some reason, they never display (they display just whiteness). My Code is as follows

The reason i'm having this problem now is i just redid my workspace and copied the code and i think some glitch stopped it from compiling correctly all along so now i experience this problem in the applet viewer. Though, even before, i couldn't get anything to display in an applet.
    And yes, everything is in the same place as the html file.
    Thanks for your help!

    Here's a way to keep track of and paint images with a simple Rectangle array. And also a way to remove lengthy initialization code blocks from paintComponent. Move the images by moving the rectangles.

  • My "Home" is a GIF file on my C: drive, but the Home button will not display the file anymore.

    I am now on Firefox 6.0.2. Prior to this upgrade when I clicked the Home button I would see a GIF file from my hard drive displayed. This is how it was coded in my Options:
    file:///C|/$USER/OTHER/BITMAPS/THINK.GIF
    This file is also a Bookmark of mine and clicking that entry in the Bookmark bar works perfectly fine.
    But now in 6.0.2 when I click Home it opens a new tab and then I get an error message saying:
    Server not found.
    Firefox can't find the server at www.$user.com.
    and in the address bar it says:
    http://www.$user.com/OTHER/BITMAPS/THINK.GIF
    So my question is, why is it changing the "file:" specification to an invalid "http:" specification?

    Thank you for the clue which solved the problem! I changed the "C|" to "C:" and it now works. But I am still mystified about what changed because my Home page has been set to file:///C|/$USER/OTHER/BITMAPS/THINK.GIF since my Netscape days, and like I said, it worked fine with the previous versions of Firefox, it only broke when I went to V6.0.2. The other mysterious thing is that my bookmark with the "|" instead of the ":" still works just fine, it only was broken with Home button, nowhere else. But now it works so I'm happy, thanks again.

  • GIF files (MIME attachments) in incoming mail display too large

    This happens only in messages I get from my service provider about msgs their Spam filter catches.
    They attach small GIF files to differentiate the kinds of Spam in the list, i.e. money offers, gift offers.
    The first time each image appears it's the correct (small) size, but subsequent lines have large pixelated displays of the same image.
    Main problem is that the large images on each line space out the lines in the Spam list so that it's a real nuisance to scan through. (I like to check it because legitimate msgs get caught sometimes.) My service provider doesn't know what causes this; it started after a recent software upgrade so I suspect one of my settings is wrong but I can't find which one it is.

    Same problem here - and we are probably using the same spam software.
    I had no problems with the emails I had been receiving with the MIME attachment images for 4+ months. Although another co-worker was having the same issues that you are describing as soon as we started using this new spam filter software.
    The only change I made today was a configuration on my Toolbar, the first I've ever made with Mail. It immediately 'broke' the images in my email. So it seems like some type of 'preferences' setting can't render or read the image after the initial configuration is changed.

  • Problems syncing animated gif files on website

    I am running Photoshop Elements 8 and have createdd a series of 7 animated gif files.  Within each of the 7 files consist of 4 layers(photos) with 5 second intervals in between each layer/photo.  Each of the 7 animated gif files have been uploaded to the home page of my website, all 7 animated gif files are set to 5 second intervals and also loop.  The problem occurs when either reloading or returning back to the home page, which causes the animated gif files to go out of sync, making it appear that each one of the 7 files are starting it's sequence at a different time.  My question is, how can I fix this issue?  I want all 7 animated gifs to start at exactly the same time, any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to our community
    I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe you will need to convert the GIF to a SWF and insert it that way in order to preserve the animation.

  • Problem saving gif file over the net

    I am using a simple loop to save files using a URL Connection. It grabs html files fine and they look right but when I used to to download an animated gif it had an error. It saved the file but when I tried to open the image I got a "drawing failed" message.
    I compared it to the working image and the sizes were identical. I also compared the characters in notepad and the beginning and end characters were identical. I looked at the preview in "My Computer" when you select it and it drew only the first line or so. This makes me believe it is a problem with how it switches lines when saving. I checked the ends of the lines though and they also seem identicall. Any ideas? Here is the code. Thankyou.
    FileWriter fileName = new FileWriter(saveFileName);
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(
    new InputStreamReader(
    newConnection.getInputStream()
    BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(fileName);
    for (;;) {
    int data = in.read();
    // Check for EOF
    if (data == -1) break;
    else {
    System.out.print ( (char) data);
    out.write(data);
    }

    GIF files are binary files and can be corrupted if you use the Reader and Writer classes. Use the *Stream classes, like FileInputStream and FileOutputStream.

  • How do I display .gif files in Mail?

    This has bugged me for a long time. When I get an email that has web graphics in it (usually .gif files) I can't see it in Mail at all. I just get a red box. I am using Mac OS 10.2.8.

    Hi Canterbury
    Welcome to Discussions
    In Mail 1.3 Preferences, click the viewing tab and check the box that says Display images in HTML messages.
    I don't know if you can do the same in Mail 1.0 for Jaguar, but have look.

  • Converting GIF images to JPG - display problems in browser

    I am currently writing a program that uses the ImageIO package (javax.imageio.*) to take GIF and PNG images and convert them to JPG images. The program seems to convert them correctly, especially for the PNG images, but the converted GIF images don't open in a browser. They open just fine in Windows Picture and Fax viewer, but when I try to open them in IE or Firefox, it only diplays the little red 'x'.
    Is anyone familiar enough with Images and the ImageIO package in Java that they may have some insight on why these converted GIF files won't display in a browser.

    Bonjour,
    In my [website|http://iweb.debutersurmac.com>, all the images are JPG files,
    By default iWeb '09 converts images to JPG (yes, it's true)...
    ...unless you use masked images*
    !http://i32.servimg.com/u/f32/09/02/44/99/masked10.jpg!
    Crop your images (with Preview) before you paste them in iWeb. Don't use mask, Unmask an image if it's masked. That's the trick!
    !http://i32.servimg.com/u/f32/09/02/44/99/unmask10.jpg!
    (* images with transparency areas (ex : some PNG and GIF), rotation and shapes in iWeb make also PNG files in your website.)

  • Display gif files using servletoutputstream (again)

    Hello,
    I'm trying to display several gifs files in a html file. I extract all the files from an oracle database. I'm trying to use a servletoutputstream, but it does not difference between text and image.
    Process:
    1. Select html file from database
    2. Go through each line of html file to find the links to gif files
    - if gif :
    3. Ask for the gif file detected and select from database
    4. use servletoutputstream to display the file
    - end of if
    -else
    5. display the line of text.
    Is it possible to use a servletoutputstream to display several gifs and text content?
    Is there one other solution to do it correctly?
    Thanks in advance,
    Angela.
    The code I use is:
    private void retrieveFile()
    FileWriter fwHtml=null;
    oracle.sql.BLOB blob=null;
    InputStream in=null;
    ServletOutputStream out=null;
    ResultSet rsGif=null;
    try
    //Extract html file from the database
    String query="SELECT * FROM DBFiles WHERE FILENAME='"+file+"'";
    PreparedStatement ps = connection.prepareStatement (query);
    ResultSet rs=ps.executeQuery();
    rs.next();
    String fileName=rs.getString("FILENAME");
    if (fileName.indexOf("html")!=-1)
    InputStream fis=rs.getAsciiStream(5);
    //I read each line to know where the html file calls the links to the gif files
    BufferedReader reader= new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(fis));
    String line;
    String mimeType="";
    try{
    while ((line=reader.readLine()) !=null)
    if((line.indexOf("img src="))!=-1)
    int imgIndex=line.indexOf("img src=");
    int altIndex=line.indexOf(" alt=");
    //I obtain the name of the gif file that I obtain from the database
    String gifFile=line.substring(imgIndex+9,altIndex-1);
    query="SELECT * FROM DBFiles WHERE FILENAME='"+gifFile+"'";
    ps.clearParameters();
    ps = connection.prepareStatement (query);
    rsGif=ps.executeQuery();
    rsGif.next();
    blob=((OracleResultSet)rsGif).getBLOB("GIF");
    String gifName=rsGif.getString("FILENAME");
    mimeType = context.getMimeType(gifName);
    response.setContentType(mimeType);
    out = response.getOutputStream();
    in=blob.getBinaryStream();
    int bufferSize=blob.getBufferSize();
    byte[] buffer = new byte[bufferSize];
    int bytesRead=0;
    int intBuffer=in.read(buffer);
    while ((bytesRead=intBuffer)!= -1)
    out.write(buffer,0,bytesRead);
    in.close;
    else
    byte[] bString =line.getBytes();
    mimeType = context.getMimeType(fileName);
    response.setContentType(mimeType);
    out.write(bString,0,line.length());
    catch (IOException ioe) {
    System.out.println("Unable to open Image file "); ioe.printStackTrace();
    finally {
    if (out != null) {
    out.flush();
    out.close();
    ps.clearParameters();
    connection.commit();
    rsGif.close();
    rs.close();
    ps.close();
    catch (SQLException sqle)
    sqle.printStackTrace();
    catch (Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();

    Let's put it this way, since I don't have the patience to look at your code. HTML cannot have images embedded in it, it can only have links to images. So you could have a servlet that sends an image, but only a single image and nothing else. I see you have code to set the MIME type of the image, so I don't have to tell you about that.
