I've been struggling with this and another problem with DPS for a couple of weeks.
It generally starts up fine when you dont have SSL enabled. The moment you enable SSL, a couple of things go for a toss:
    1. The problem mentioned above surfaces. Are you facing this problem even without SSL?
    2. If you log into the Administration console, and try to make changes to the DPS configuration, it will give an error stating that "Error in writing to Configuration Directory". But apparently, it will manage to save things. Just that when you try to start it with SSL enabled, it won't. Neither from the command line, nor the GUI.
Anyone managed to fix this? Sun informed us that there is a problem with Jars, but thats about it.

  • MacOS 10.10.3 Glassfish 4.1 unable to start using asadmin

it appears, that Apple have changed something to do with the required user rights on the launchctl dsexec which is used on MacOS with 10.10.3, so that I am now unable to start glassfish from the command line.
    what's the fix for this?
    eg:
    bash-4.3$ asadmin start-domain test3
JVM failed to start: com.sun.enterprise.admin.launcher.GFLauncherException: The server exited prematurely with exit code 1.
Before it died, it produced the following output:
    Command start-domain failed.

Thanks for the help. At this time I haven't got a clue how to build the necessary modules, so I guess I'll have to wait. Perhaps a reinstall with the lts...
There's probably another way but you can always just rebuild the package from the AUR.
Unfortunately, with a fresh install of Arch followed by catalyst-test from AUR, the boot process stops just after the disk check.

Perhaps the Cluster Agent sets a higher ulimit when it runs.
See if you are running the latest patch.

    Hello All,
I got the following error while trying to restart a 3 node RAC database. OEM reported two out of three nodes to be down.

Hi srsatya, thanks for your reply!
I used the alter system set cluster_database=true scope=spfile SID='*' command to change my parameter from node1.After that the restart failed. The DB is now running from node 3.
My spfile is in a shared location.
    SQL> show parameter spfile;
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    spfile                               string      +DATA/abc123/spfileabc123.ora
1.Login to the database and run "create pfile from spfile" , that will generate pfile in dbs folder on the server where you executed the command.
2.Shutdown all cluster database instance. Can I do this using SQLPLUS individually on each node? Or Srvctl?
3.From the node where you create pfile, open the pfile and edit cluster parameters
4.startup to nomount  with new modified pfile
    5.Run create spfile <+DATA/abc123/spfileabc123.ora> from pfile='Give new pfile path & file name';
My current init.ora(pfile) file points to the shared location specified above. This will overwrite my spfile with the new cluster parameters. After that can I remove the new pfile that was created?
    6.shutdown the database
7.run srvctl to start all database.

  • Didadm: unable to determine hostname.  error on Sun cluster 4.0 - Solaris11

Trying to install Sun Cluster 4.0 on Sun Solaris 11 (x86-64).
iscs sharedi Quorum Disk are available in /dev/rdsk/ .. ran
    devfsadm
    cldevice populate
But don't see DID devices getting populated in /dev/did.
Also when scdidadm -L is issued getting the following error. Has any seen the same error ??
    - didadm: unable to determine hostname.
Found in cluster 3.2 there was a Bug 6380956: didadm should exit with error message if it cannot determine the hostname
The sun cluster command didadm, didadm -l in particular, requires the hostname to function correctly. It uses the standard C library function gethostname to achieve this.
Early in the cluster boot, prior to the service svc:/system/identity:node coming online, gethostname() returns an empty string. This breaks didadm.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get past this issue with shared quorum disk DID.

Let's step back a bit. First, what hardware are you installing on? Is it a supported platform or is it some guest VM? (That might contribute to the problems).
Next, after you installed Solaris 11, did the system boot cleanly and all the services come up? (svcs -x). If it did boot cleanly, what did 'uname -n' return? Do commands like 'getent hosts <your_hostname>' work? If there are problems here, Solaris Cluster won't be able to get round them.
If the Solaris install was clean, what were the results of the above host name commands after OSC was installed? Do the hostnames still resolve? If not, you need to look at why that is happening first.
    Regards,
    Tim

  • Unable to start 2nd instance in RAC

    Hi,
i have a clustered environment, with 1 database consists of 3 instances. i recreated the spfile using init.ora file from other database to get the sga size etc... so far is fine, and able to start the database, and instance 1 is started and not starting the instance 2 and instance 3 for some reason...
when connect to sqlplus /nolog and startup from there is says shared realm doesn't exist... i restarted the services from from computer management services...
i dont understand why its doing this...
checked the alert log says "specified value of sga_max_size is too small, bumping to 7922566298.

    Aman,
yes i am on virtualized 3 node system. I had a guess about it already and I happened to be right :) . Well the trouble is that you are trying to run a 3 node RAC on a 32 Bit windows machine which can chew a maximum of 3.2gb (if memory serves correctly) . So setting up such a large size per instance would not be a good thing. I normally suggest , if it's for learning purpose, to setup a db with not more than 300mb on a two node RAC VM's- per node gets an instance of 300mb. I would suggest that you bring the value to somewhat like this, let it start and see. Also check the alert logs of the instances.
    here is my sga details
    SQL> show sga
Total System Global Area 7977566208 bytes
    Fixed Size 1309116 bytes
    Variable Size 1390413380 bytes
    Database Buffers 6553600000 bytes
    Redo Buffers 32243712 bytes
how much should i reduce the sga, i am able tos start the database and 1 instance but not the other 2 instances.... please help.I am not sure about your set up so I shall say that set it up to not more 300mb and then retry. I hope it's not a production but a learning based cluster setup so it should not matter if we reduce the size of the sga, will it?

  • TNS-04012: Unable to start Oracle Connection Manager instance.

    Hi,
I've tried to configure Connection Manager but i fails on:
TNS-04012: Unable to start Oracle Connection Manager instance
This is my configuration (I've removed as much as possible to remove possible errors):
    CMAN1=(CONFIGURATION=
      (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<hostname>)(PORT=1522))
      (RULE_LIST=
       (RULE=(SRC=*)(DST=<IP>)(SRV=*)(ACT=accept))))
    CMCTL> administer CMAN1
Current instance CMAN1 is not yet started
    Connections refer to (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<hostname>)(PORT=1522)).
    The command completed successfully.
    CMCTL:CMAN1> startup
TNS-04012: Unable to start Oracle Connection Manager instance.I've reviewed following notes without getting any closer (298916.1 and 733421.1)
I can't see any errors in any of the following possible issues:
    * The max_connections value must not exceed 1024. Maximum acceptable value is 1024
    * The max_gateway_processes value must not exceed 64. Maximum acceptable value is 64
    * The trace_directory and log_directory values must be valid
    * The trace_level and log_level values do not support numeric values 6,10 and 16
    * Duplicate sections
    * Misspelled parameter names or parameter values
    * Host values that are not resolvable
    * Rule list must allow the local address of the machine where cman is installed
    * A specfic address in SRC or DST for a rule in the rule list must be resolvable(Try ip address range as a workaround and see the enhancement request 6125025)
    * Windows: Ensure the ORA_DBA group is present and O/S user starting CMAN is in the group
    * Windows: Ensure any firewall is not blocking Oracle from using Network

just check the env file for the user who is starting or running that.
say if it is cshell, you can see the following variables in the .cshrc which will be under the user's home directory
    setenv JAVAHOME  WS_Root/jdk
    setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH  WS_Root/lib: /libnow source that file
    source .cshrcthen start the webserver.

  • Can I install Sun Cluster on LDOM guest domain. Is Oracle RAC a supported c

    Hello,
Can I install Sun Cluster on LDOM guest domains. Is Oracle RAC on LDOM guest domains of 2 physical servers a supported configuration from oracle?
    Many thanks in advance
    Ushas Symon

    Hello,
The motive behind using LDOm Guest domains as RAC node is to have a better control of the resource allocation, since i will be having more than one guest domains which should perform different functions. The customer wants to have ORACLE RAC alone (without sun cluster).
I will have two T5120's and one 2540 shared storage.
My plan of configuration is to have
    Control&IO Domain with 8VCPU, 6GB mem
one LDOM guest domain on each physical machine with 8 VCPU's, 8GB of memory, shared n/w and disks participating as RAC node's. (Don't know yet if i will use solaris cluster or not)
one guest domain on each physical machine with 12 VCPU's, 14GB of memory, shared n/w and disks participating as BEA weblogic cluster nodes (not on solaris cluster)
One guest domain on each physical machine with 4 VCPU's, 4GB of memory, shared n/w and disks participating as apache web cluster (on solaris cluster)
Now, My question is, is it a supported configuration to have guest domains as Oracle RAC participants for 11gR2 (either with or without solaris cluster).
If I need to configure RAC nodes on solaris cluster, is it possible to have two independent clusters on LDOM , one 2 node cluster for RAC and another 2 node cluster for apache web?
    Kindly advise
    Many thanks in advance
    Ushas Symon

  • Unable to start crs on single-node instance

    Hello -
I am running 11.1.0.7 for my ASM instance, and I am unable to start crs. I get the following error message:
    [root@mbiwfhmdwee 624]# ./crsctl start crs
Attempting to start Oracle Clusterware stack
Failure at scls_scr_create with code 1
I just installed the Oracle software, and this is the first time I am trying to get ASM running on this server.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Mike

you are probably hitting bug 4632899 - CSS does not start if hostname has capital letters (ML note 4632899.8)
=> Change the hostname to from uppercase to lower case.

    Hi,
    Few things I have noticed
    - I am assuming that you might be using Pointbase as the database.
    - Make sure Pointbase is been started before starting the weblogice server and then try to start the server.
    - if yes then it is not recommended to be used in production environment.

  • Unable to boot - Sun Cluster config uncompleted

    Hi,
I was trying to install SC 3.2 on a server, unfortunately I rebooted the server after running Java ES installer (Cluster installation was not completed)
Now my machine is unable to boot, and I can't remove Cluster services from dependency trees... I've already removed SC with the script:
    /var/sadm/prod/SUNWentsyssc32u2/uninstall
I get these errors when booting
    Jun 9 05:26:04 svc.startd[7]: svc:/system/cluster/cl_boot_check:default: Method "/usr/cluster/lib/svc/method/svc_boot_check start" failed with exit status 1.

    Jun 9 05:26:05 svc.startd[7]: svc:/system/cluster/cl_boot_check:default: Method "/usr/cluster/lib/svc/method/svc_boot_check start" failed with exit status 1.
Jun 9 05:26:05 svc.startd[7]: system/cluster/cl_boot_check:default failed: transitioned to maintenance (see 'svcs -xv' for details)
    Requesting System Maintenance Mode
    (See /lib/svc/share/README for more information.)
    Console login service(s) cannot run
command fails because /usr/cluster/lib/svc/method/svc_boot_check is not present, since I removed SC
I tried to disable "svc:/system/cluster/cl_boot_check:default" from startup services, but can't fix missing dependencies
    could you help me please?

    hi,guys:
you need to into non-cluster mode. when under OK mode.
input the command : boot -x
then try to uninstall cluster software.
    then go to this directory.
    /var/sadm/prod
you can find the command "scinstall"
    execute scinstall -r
at last , reedit the file of /etc/vfstab.
if you still dont successed , the best way is reinstall your operation system.
you can contact me .below it is my msn.
