Got error with newfs command for disk on a Storagetek ST2540.

Hi,
It's the first time that use forum and I have pour english language.
I have Solaris 9 on Sunfire V480 with Qlogic HBA qla2340 connected to SAN ST2540.
I have 3 LUNs on virtual disk on ST2540 (2 X 2TB and 1 about 730 GB).
I can create a UFS file system on one of those 3 LUNs.
A UFS file sytem of 2 TB.
I got error on ohters like this.
newfs /dev/rdsk/c6t3d2s0

It is somebody has a idea?

try the -T param for newfs. beware that you need a later edition of solaris 9.. 08/03 or so...

  • [SOLVED] Error running install command for soundcore

    Hi,
I use OSSv4 instead of ALSA. Everything is working correctly but I noticed an error message in the bootlog:
systemd-udevd[204]: Error running install command for soundcore
What does this mean? Why is there an error?
Of course I blacklisted the ALSA module as it is described in the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/OSS#Install
    best regards

    Ok, thanks for the info.
But why does the wiki suggest to run "install soundcore /bin/false" instead of just "blacklist soundcore"? In earlier revisions the wiki suggested to do "blacklist soundcore" (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?ti … did=231068).
Doesn't this actually have the same effect?
    EDIT:
    I found this https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … acklisting

  • Suddenly getting bootstrap_register() errors with osascript commands

Rarely but every so often my osascript commands start spitting back (for me) obscure errors--commands that tell me the iTunes current track, stream name, etc., various miscellany. Note that they do ordinarily work and have for quite some time. But for reasons I cannot fathom, this starts happening (a basic example):
$ osascript -e 'tell application "iTunes" to stop'
    2009-01-11 03:44:03.443 osascript[974] CFLog (0): CFMessagePort:
    bootstrap_register(): failed 1100 (0x44c), port = 0x2103, name =
    'Processes-0.17563649'
See /usr/include/servers/bootstrap_defs.h for the error codes.
    2009-01-11 03:44:03.443 osascript[974] CFLog (99):
CFMessagePortCreateLocal(): failed to name Mach port
    (Processes-0.17563649)
    CFMessagePortCreateLocal failed (name = Processes-0.17563649
    error = 0)
    Abort trap
They vary of course, but pretty much follow the model of the above whatever I try to do. I don't seem able to recover from this and get my osascript-ability back short of restarting the whole system. (This is not limited to iTunes. And I do wrap these up in shell scripts and the like, but the above is an actual verbatim example of what's happening to me right now.)
Please forgive me: my searches haven't found the answer. Is there some process I can kill, anything else I can do here? Any idea why this happens in the first place?

As a generic resolution of such memory issues, kindly
please follow up the next steps by the same order:
    1.
Assure your memory configuration terms are
with static values for min + max terms.
    2.
For max terms , please assure you assign the appropriate value according to your memory specs + how many SQL instances installed
    there on server
    3-
     Then Schedule appropriately a
memory recycling job to Run some  or all of the below commands but particularly more the first 2 ones
     DBCC FREESYSTEMCACHE
    ('ALL');
     DBCC DROPCLEANBUFFERS
     DBCC FREEPROCCACHE
     DBCC FREESESSIONCACHE
    4-
If you have low memory specs,
you have try to reduce polling interval of this schedule .
    5-
Then configure the following notifications alerts
    by an appropriate
polling interval  like 1 minute  :
    o
Memory grant queue waits _ Average wait time (ms) >0
    o
Memory grant queue waits _Waits started per second>0
    6-
     Run your query again
    >>and follow up the alerts .
    7-
If you got alerted while executing your queries through
more than attempt , then otherwise to :
Enhance your query by seeking for examples the highest column sizes where they reduce TDS (Tabular Data stream packet) of query
    then reduce memory usage
Or seeking more memory for the server
Or seeking if your VM has got properly its assigned memory or not ..?
Since VM either Hyper V or VM ware or..etc might suffer from a general overload on the whole of station hosting VMs ending up
with such standstill cases for them
Think more deeply of performance terms

  • Task License Validation Error Message/ Automatic Scheduling for Disk Defrag is not working.

I saw where I could possibly ask you for answers to the problems that I am having with Windows 8.1 pro. First of all I noticed that my disk defragmentation task which was set on daily wasn't operating.  It indicated that the last time it ran all disks
for disk defrag was back on 4/20 and on the this morning of 4/26 there was the date 4/20 for all the disks.  I went into the Administrator Tools section of Control Panel and found Schedule Tasks.  When I opened Schedule Tasks I got the
error message that indicated a Task License Validation Error. It went on to read:The task XML contains a value which is incorrectly formatted or out of range.  This is my question...are the two related...the inoperative automatic maintenance of disk defrag
and this error message from task scheduler?  And how do I address each issue to solution.   Thank you very much.

Yep, the appserver got hold of a usable connection but the connection was closed before the appserver had finished/committed with it. It could be that the connection was closed by the database or some firewall timeout setting.
A good start is to investigate options of configuring your appserver's connection eviction policies including forcing a validation SQL to be executed when a connection is acquired. Make sure that such a query doesn't impact on performance and have some performance and integration testing before rolling out.i found that if i close the computer which causes this issue, hence other dev computers can deploy normally.
"deploy" here i mean deploy to a running instance on each dev's machine.
From this, i would guess the common database server itself rejects connection from clients.
I will try to investigate more if i am missing something.
And here i found a link that possibly a first good attempt:
EclipseLink automatically recovers from communication failures, but there is little we can do to diagnose the failure. We basically execute a query and have to wait for the JDBC driver, or DataSource's response, if it hangs for 10minutes, then we are waiting. You could set the JDBC timeout hint on your query, but whether the JDBC driver honors this is up to the driver. You should see the SQLException in your logs, provided your log level is warning or lower.
If you cannot fix your firewall, they you could change your connection pool settings to use a min number of connections of 0, so there will never be idle connections. But then you will be reconnecting a lot.
You could also use a third party connection pool or DataSource that supports a timeout setting on the pooled connections, or spawn a thread in your application the clears the connection pool every 30minutes.regards,

  • Error with Function Module for Automatically Reversing FI Documents

We are trying to use BAPIACREV to automatically reverse a document as part of workflow but get an error with 2 of the import parameters stating they were never transferred:
    1) OBJ_KEY_R
    2) OBJ_SYS
Does anyone know how to resolve this?

    Hi,
    OBJ_KEY : Reference Key
This key value must be created while posting the document and this key must be maintained in any of SAP tables
for example : If the it is Accounting document then all detail found in BKPF and BSEG table, you can find OBJ_KEY in BKPF-AWKEY field.
OBJ_SYS : Logical system of source document
Logical system may be maintained in some table.
for example : If the it is Accounting document then all detail found in BKPF and BSEG table, you can find OBJ_SYS in BKPF-AWSYS field.
or you can use following FM to get logical system
    CALL FUNCTION 'OWN_LOGICAL_SYSTEM_GET'
    IMPORTING
    OWN_LOGICAL_SYSTEM = L_V_OWN_LOGICAL_SYSTEM
    EXCEPTIONS
    OWN_LOGICAL_SYSTEM_NOT_DEFINED = 1
    OTHERS = 2

  • Error with sql commands with ms access

    hi!
I'm having problems with sending commands like "create group x" and "alter database password" these aren't working.
I'm using the jdbcodbc bridge. Simply doing this:
    Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
    stmt.executeUpdate ("alter database password a null");
    doesn't work.
create group also don't work. Surely other stuff also don't work. But things like create table, drop table, create proc, do work.
I can't do all the stuff that appears here.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnacc2k/html/acadvsql.asp
    What may be happenning?
can all that really work from java just like this or it don't?
I'm using Access 2002 with access 2000 db format.
    Thanks.
    Greeting from chile.

Well may be I am ignorant. I'm doing a real thing (for somebody) for the first time. They will buy few pcs. Also I think I would like they update to access 2000 or 2002 from 97 because of the semi stored procedures... They will do a lot of effort to just buy that but they really need it.
I just actually wanted the ability to mantain users and assign permissions to do stuff from the same application. That would have been nice but it is not critical, at least execute procedures does work.

  • I'm getting this error with bootcamp "The startup disk does not have enough space to be partitioned"

    Here's the story...
I had a dual boot configuration on my mac with Mac OS X Lion and Windows XP (made with bootcamp).
    I decided to reinstall windows.
I deleted the windows partition using BootCamp.
Tried to recreate the Windows partition with Boot Camp and got: "The startup disk does not have enough space to be partitioned  You must have at least 10 GB of free space available"
After reading several posts on this forum I decided to defrag the hard drive and try again.
The defrag did not work and I'm still getting the error, I have 22 gb of free space on my drive.
    Any suggestions?
Also, I tried repair disk and repair permissions
Hmm, my external harddrive says on the box "OS X 10.5.8 or higher (32-bit kernel only)"  Could the 32-bit requirement be an issue? Is lion 64-bit?

Boot Camp must be able to allocate a contiguous block of space on the drive. If it cannot find 10 GBs of contiguous space, then you cannot create the Windows partition.
You will have to backup your OS X partition to an external drive, boot from the external drive, use Disk Utility to repartition and reformat your hard drive back to a single volume, then restore your backup to the internal hard drive.
Get an empty external hard drive and clone your internal drive to the external one.
Boot from the external hard drive.
    Erase the internal hard drive.
Restore the external clone to the internal hard drive.
Clone the internal drive to the external drive
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the external drive and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    After startup do the following:
    Erase internal hard drive
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your internal hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.  Do not quit Disk Utility.
Restore the clone to the internal hard drive
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the internal hard drive. Source means the external startup drive.
Note that the Source and Destination drives are swapped for this last procedure.

Something deep, dark, and inside Kerberos way outside of my knowledge base was the problem.
I could always get a kinit with the HTTP/amdev.tcpip.com service to work. I never got the keytabs from the output of ktpass to operate. I used ktutil to create keytab entries all in vain, kinit using the keytab always resulted in a PA error, although the time clocks are setup the same.
The AD administrator created the account, this time as a user account, not a machine account, and the keytabs from the Windows domain controller finally worked.
If anyone knows the difference between machine and user accounts are in AD, I would be obliged for his/her explanation. The UPN and SPN look the same in the directory. I'm at a loss. However, very glad to finally have this working.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad T410 got errors with Fingerprint sensor device! So frustrating!

I have just bought a new Lenovo Thinkpad T410 2518-FAA from one of main agencies of Lenovo in my country. The new-buy laptop was said to be totally new, i.e. it was not a re-furbished, and I actually checked for manything to confirm the real status of this laptop. However, when I bought it back to my house, a serious problem appeared. At the laptop store, I did not have enough time to check the Fingerprint device, thus I skipped to check it. When I came back home, the Fingerprint sensor error of this new-buy laptop completely drived me crazy!!! I installed the Fingerprint software of Lenovo, but this software continuously reported errors: "Can not enroll users, can not update passport, and can not find fingerprint sensor device." I have tried uninstalled and reinstalled this software many times, and already checked for the latest version of this software, it was Thinkvantage Fingerprint sofware 5.9.3 for Win 7-32 bit. My operation system is Win 7-32 bit. But these errors still appeared again and again. I already checked the status of TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor in Biometric Devices, uninstalled then re-installled this device, and it showed that this device was working properly and up-to-date, and I already unchecked the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", but all of my efforts was in vain!!! These errors still appeared and it drives me crazy! Up to now I had been unable to enroll my fingerprint to set up the fingerprint reader! These 3 errors just kept prompting in front of my eyes! Another problem is that the laptop can transfer files to my Nokia E51 mobile via Bluetooth, but I could not make the reverse transfer for a file from this mobile to laptop! Oh, I am very disappointed about Lenovo now! Inside the manufacture box that carried the laptop, there are just some instruction guides without any installation CD for installing Thinkvantage softwares... I had to go to the website of Lenovo and find a bunch of links of softwares that I tried many times but I still did not know how to donwload... I had to donwload the Thinkvantage Fingerprint software from another website... Please help me, guys! Did you encounter the same problem with me? May you please instruct me how to solve these problems! Thank you a lot!

    hey Moon_Light,
i would suggest uninstalling all ThinkVantage software, then go to http://support.lenovo.com ; download all drivers for you unit and install.
at the same time do a bios update as well.
