Graphic driver troubles in VMWare

I'm trying to run archlinux inside a virtual machine.
I've installed open-vm-tools and open-vm-tools-modules, but for some reason X is using the vmwlegacy driver,
which doesn't let me use a proper resolution...

  • Graphics Drive Trouble

I need to run a gaming program, but when I start it, a message pops up saying that my graphics drivers are not updated or do not meet minimum requirements.
Im using the drivers that came with the computer, I guess the ones I usually run in Mac, which is Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT. I have updated them and the problem continues. I dont't think that they don't meet the requirements, as the program does not demand high performances. Is there a way I can change the graphics drive, or restoting them? I have the OS X installation discs, and I guess they might come in handy, but I want first the opinion of someone else.
    Thanks

Answering your first question, is it even possible to intall BootCamp while in Windows?? I think I don't quite understand your question there.
What the hatter meant was, did you use the OSX Leopard DVD that came with your Mac to install the WIndows Drivers that are on it.
To the second question, I tried installing the new Driver (185.68) over the old one (179.48)while it was installed and after uninstalling it. Both times with an error message saying that it did not recognize the controlers.
Since I don't have a Mac with a Nvidia graphics (both my Macs have an ATI inside) Laptovideo2go is the only source I know of for getting updated Windows drivers for the Mobile chips from Nvidia.
And Nvidia has some Beta Drivers for Notebooks http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html
I hope you have another solution, I'm getting desperate...
Other than these I don't have...
    Thankyou
    Hope it helps

  • Trouble with graphics driver

The driver in question is the Intel(R) HD Graphics family one (according to the Device Manager)
So what's been happening is I've been playing a Java based browser game. Occasionally the display will flicker with the message "Display driver stopped working and has recovered." Other times, instead of a simple flicker, the whole thing will stop working and the page must be restarted.
I tried searching the internet and trying out solutions with the game itself (it has 2 different display settings, OpenGL and DirectX. The problem appears on both). I was told it was almost certainly a problem with the driver.
I searched around the Intel website and according to some stuff I found, I have to find out what's going on with the computer itself as the drivers get altered by the manufacturers.
    Here's some technical info:
    Lenovo Thinkpad t440s
    Windows 8.1
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4200U CPU @ 1.600GHz 2.30GHz
    6GB RAM (5.69 Usable)
    64-bit OS
A note: It only occurs on that one game, though I only really use low-intensity Java applications, so there may be other situations it could occur.
If anyone can offer any solutions, I'd appreciate it. It gets annoying.

  • Trouble with graphics drive

I have bootcamp with Windows XP SP3 installed, but when I try to run a specific application, a message appears, saying that I may have a problem with the graphics memory, or an old graphics drive version. I have the NVIDIA drives, and I am sure I have the lastest version of the drives, and I have enough memory. I actually don't know what the problem might be, but I thougt of a solution, which was changing the drivers. Does the OS X installation disks contain any other graphics drivers other than NVIDIA that I can try installing? Is there any other solution you have?
    thankyou

test it with another computer to verify if the sd card is just not corrupt

  • Graphics Driver for HP Pavilion dv6t-6000 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC for Win 8.1

    Hello Everyone,
I currently have an HP Pavilion dv6t-6000 Quad Edition with intel i7 and switchable radeon HD graphics card . I have made the jump from Windows 7 to 8.1 as I am a Current University student studying Information technology and have the need to be updated in terms of technology. I found Win 8.1 to run a bit faster on my PC than Win 7. I have ran into a couple of problems when upgrading to 8.1.
1.) I've been having an issue finding the correct and stable Video Graphics driver for my Radeon HD 6770M switchable graphics. I tried intalling the original Win 7 driver in the HP driver but does not work properly. I have also tried download a generic driver from the AMD Radeon driver website, but the screen is extremly dim when intalled and is almost impossible to use unless I hold a lamp to the LCD screen. The brightness function keys DO get reconized when pressed, but the brighness will not change no matter how high or low the brightness threshold is at.
2.) It is a bit out of topic, but I have also been having alot of trouble getting the validity fingerprint sensor to work with Win 8.1.
I would really appreciate if anyone can help me with these issues or point me in the right direction in order to get them fixed. I am an IT student and have done alot of reasearch on these topics but have been unable to get them to work as intented.
P.S: I have read alot of fixes about brightness using regedit and edditing some values on specific registry entries. I have found them for many other pc manufacturers, but not for HP. Not an expert on registry stuff, but seems like many people get it fixed by doing so. Just an idea.

Due to the age of this model, HP is only providing drivers for Windows 7. After searching through the HP Forum, I was unable to find a satisfactory solution to your issue.

  • Surface Pro 2 Graphics driver stops apps running

    Hi,
We are having trouble with a Surface 2 Pro with Windows 8.1. Apps such as onenote, facebook and several others do not load past the splash screen(they appear open when swiping in from left).
The resolution of the tile screen appears to be lower than it should be, but all settings indicate a 1920x1080 resolution.
Disabling the graphics card fixes the problem, but causes several other undesirables. Rolling back the driver fixes the problem, but the default driver is insignificant and after every reboot/auto-update the apps stop working again. I have downloaded the
updates and service packs and manually installed the graphics driver, but the apps start to fail as soon as the graphics driver updates.
When the driver is disabled/roll backed more tiles appear on the home screen, even though the resolution is lower.
Does anyone know how i can upgrade the driver, without losing app functionality?
    Regards
    Chris

    Hi,
I have ran all updates and it says its fully updates, and I attempted to manually install device driver 10.18.10.3345,
which I downloaded from the intel site but it was 'not accredited for the platform'.
Its the 128GB version. The problem only started after upgrading to 8.1. I'll post the event logs asap.
    Thanks

  • Need help installing my graphics driver in windows vista via boot camp

New to mac so first time on forum as well.
Love the Mac but i also want to get on some old games. C&C The First Decade mainly.
    I am currently using below.
Mac mini Mid 2011 processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core it
    Memory 4 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6630M 256 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
Installing windows vista home premium 32 bit
I have installed windows vista home premium using boot camp assistant and downloaded the windows drivers as well. After i have installed windows i installed boot camp using my Mac OS X snow leopard which installed boot camp 3 or 3.1 i believe and i eventually got apple updates for 3.2 which is what i am now runnning on vista. I had trouble getting my sound to play through my speakers at first but eventually got them working and now it is my graphics driver that i cannot seem to get working. In vista(I also downloaded service pack 1 and 2) when i go to control panel and check out my device control it shows a yellow exclamation point next to the adapter. I guess i need help in getting my graphics installed correctly on my windows. Is there something i should take off to install the correct driver? Or do i just need the correct driver download? If i have the correct driver how do i upload it onto my windows side in the device control.
When i try to run c&c generals/zero hour i get a directx 8.1 error, red alert 2 is black but i can hear. i know these games can work i installed the graphics correctly the first time when i did not have sound as this is my second time installing windows so the game did load when i did not have sound.
    Advise?
I was thinking about saying forget this i can't waste hours of my time anymore but i have to be close to getting everything working if i had graphics before and no sound but sound this time and no graphics. I was also thinking about just buying windows 7 home premium sp1 64bit system builder dvd off amazon and reinstalling windows using windows 7 but i want to make sure i can play these games before i spend the money. I thought my mini couldn't support windows vista and if it did only boot camp 4? how am i getting this far to get things to work?
What is the driver i need to install to get these games working? What do I need to do or what am I missing???
Do i need to install a different boot camp off apple and find a driver that will get mine to work in vista?
Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated i have been at this everyday for hours.

Also is there something, say maybe a driver, that was installed i do not need that is blocking me from installing the correct drivers? What driver in my boot camp folder do i need to install to get to the correct display to run those games.

  • Graphics driver problem

I was having trouble with the GoPro Studio software and GoPro tech support said:
Currently, you run an Intel Q33 Express Chipset using driver version 8.15.10.1930 (dated 9/22/2009). Per Intel's recommendation, the latest version available for your graphics card is 15.12.75.4.64.1930 (dated 10/02/2009).
I tried installing the driver update from Intel, but I keep getting a "failed" message.
    Intel said:
I would like to inform you that the system is not able to update the driver since it looks like it already has the latest version available installed. I would recommend you to check with HP if they have a newer driver for this chipset or you may also check if you are using the latest BIOS version.

  • Windows 8.1 and graphics driver for AMD Radeon HD7670m

    Hello
Some time ago, i`ve had problem with updating my Windows8 (64-bit) to 8.1 (64-bit). The problem was with switchable graphics, only Intel HD4000 was working and i couldn`t fix it by Catalyst Control centre, by AMD support forum and by this forum as well.
I`ve seen this trouble a lot at forums, but i didn`t find the solution and reistalled my Windows 8.
Switchable graphics worked, but only this only old driver. All newones that i`ve tried to use didn`t work, or worked incorrect. That`s one question: we have only old driver (8.962.10.6000) without updates for new games, OSs, etc?
And another question is: was the problem fixed?
Because i`d like to install Windows 8.1, but i don`t want to "play" with drivers, strange solutions (like install beta driver for Windows7, from AMD website) and other. I want a working notebook (pavillion g6 2368 sr) with switchable graphics and win8.1

    Hello @hi4man ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you have concerns about upgrading your notebook to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 and losing the switchable graphics feature.
To use the switchable graphics feature you must use the drivers provided by HP on your products Drivers & Downloads page.
The drivers for your notebooks GPUs are bundled into one installation, meaning the Intel and AMD GPU drivers are in one package. This package is supported on both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 and is available here: AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver.
Try installing this driver after updating to Windows 8.1 and let me know if it works.
Note that you may need to disable the updates from Windows or the HP Support Assistant to have continued switchable graphics functionality.
I look forward to your reply!

  • HP G72-a30EM Intel graphic driver problem

Hello, I am trying to install fresh Windows 7 on HP G72-a30EM laptop, and I encountered a problem while installing Intel graphic driver. If I install it (doesn't matter if the one from HP site or the one from Intel site), computer boots to black screen (turned off), but I can hear Windows 7 login sound. If I don't install it, I can only select two crappy screen resolutions.  I have already instaled Intel chipset driver, AMD driver, but nothing seems to work for me. Any help would be appreciated

    Hi there ,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are having trouble with the graphics drivers after a fresh install of Windows 7. I am happy to help with this.  You want to install the AMD driver from the HP website as it is for switchable graphics and includes the Intel driver as well in the same package. AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver. Download that version of the driver and save it to your notebook or some external device. Then, I would advise you to completely uninstall the Intel Graphics driver and the AMD driver as well. Then restart your system, and install the AMD driver from the HP website and see if that works for you.

  • Windows 10 Graphics Driver Needed

Windows 10 says I need a graphics driver for the Nvidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 installed in my Acer AX1420-UR10P.  How do I get that driver?

A Windows 10 driver for GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 is not available.  I have 3 Acer AX1420-UR10P and one eMachines EL1352-01E all with the same chipset.  I found a work around.  I installed an XFX One 1Gb video card and deleted all the Nvidia software in one of the Acers.  I was using a Belkin N-900 USB wireless adapter on that computer.  When I restarted my computer it reinstalled the Nvidia networking drivers.  I also entered bios (press DEL on reboot) and checked to see that the onboard graphics were disabled.  They were.  When I restarted my Acer I still got the Windows 10 error message about the GeForce not being Windows 10 compliant.  I gave up and shutdown the computer.  When I started the computer the next day I was surprised that there was a message that Windows 10 was ready to be installed.  I tried to install Windows 10 by using the pop up window, but it just sat there saying it was working.  After about 20 minutes I closed the window and checked the internet. I found that many people had trouble with the pop up window.  The solution is to go the Update on the computer and click on install.  Windows 10 installed in about 2 hours.  The USB  wireless adapter did not work; no internet access.  Fortunately I had an extra CAT slot on my router so I hooked up to that and Windows 10 connected to the internet.  The Belkin adapter does not have a Windows 10 driver on the Belkin site.  I'm going to check on an AC USB  wireless adapter to see if there is a Windows 10 driver for it.  If not, I still have the CAT connection.

  • MBP graphics driver faulty?

Today I've had my macbook pro freeze for about a second with graphics errors and then reboot without any kernel panic rendered. This has happened twice. Once while running a windowed java application and once while running Rise of Nations.
The graphics errors lead me to believe the trouble is with the graphics driver which would explain why the kernel panic is not rendered. However why it would occur now makes very little sense as I was working on the same system all day yesterday with no trouble and no software updates.
    Anyone?

    Hi:
According to the product number for your HP 630, you need this graphics driver...

  • Satellite P100 (PSPA6E) Graphic Card Trouble NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900

I have big trouble with my graphic card!
Sometimes the whole display is a kind of "broken"... everywhere are kinds of artefacts to see, yellow "blocks" which are everywhere on top of all
opened tasks / windows like a kind of semi-transparent "mask".
I already tried to reinstall driver without success. Even if I shutdown and reboot the system... no success.
The failure is remaining, maybe the 512MB memory of the geforce is broken? Sometimes it happens that the failure is disappearing from a moment to another
    moment...
I really need some help... at the moment I´m writing my diploma and I really need my notebook for working.
    regards
    Christian

    > The failure is remaining; maybe the 512MB memory of the Geforce is broken? Sometimes it happens that the failure is disappearing from a moment to another
According to your description it looks like a hardware issue but its not easy to say what could be wrong exactly.
You could try to connect the external monitor to the notebook and could check if the same would appear on the second monitor. If the same would appear on the connected monitor then a graphic card problem could be possible.
Did you use non-Toshiba graphic card driver? If yes, then this could be the reason why the graphic card malfunctions. Fact is that non-Toshiba graphic drivers dont support a GPU overheating protection and in such case the GPU could overheats.
Therefore a 3rd party graphic driver can be used ONLY at your own risk!
However, if there is a hardware problem an ASP must be contacted!!!
I really dont see another solution s to ask an authorized service provider for a check.
    Best regards & Good luck

  • Latest graphics driver

I have an Acer Aspire X3995. I have some problems which are Windows related, but when I ran a diagnostic tool, it said that my graphics driver may be out of date. On the drivers page all drivers are from 2012, and the listed Nvidia driver "9.18.13.529" is already installed on my computer. Does that mean that I have the latest driver? On Nvidia's page there is a "game ready driver" for my card, but it seems to be a special thing for game compatibility. Can I count on Acer "Drivers and Manuals" page that it lists the latest drivers there? In that case my driver doesn't need an update.

You can download from the nvidia download center, the drivers will be the latest, don't worry about "games ready driver" label. if you will have any trouble updating with nvidia drivers, first uninstall the old nvidia drivers and then install the new one.

  • Graphics driver bug on MacBook Air late 2010

I saw a graphics driver bug on MacBook Air late 2010.
The problem is that some programs that uses graphics card will not display some drop down menu correctly.
For example this will happen on Windows Live messenger and Firefox 4 beta.
    Problematic WLM screen shot: http://a-fung.net/files/scr1.png
    Correct WLM screen shot: http://a-fung.net/files/scr1_correct.png
Problematic Firefox 4 beta screen shot: http://a-fung.net/files/scr2.png
It does not happen when I ran it in VMWare fusion or other machines. So I am sure this is a graphics driver problem.
Does anyone know how often Apple push driver updates?
Or does anyone know anyway to solve this problem?
BTW, I tried to force-install a later nvidia driver from the official website. The drop down problem goes away but I lose the ability to change screen brightness.

    Hi Tom,
Thanks for your quick reply. I am not convinced it is a hardware problem. For if I hold the key that is faulty pressed for a few seconds it works, and the also works for a while before it stops working again. This to me seems like it is software based. Is there a secure way to test software vs. hardware e.g. by booting from an external image into a shell only? I do not think I have an image on a usb, is there any online server that I can connect to to try it?
    Thanks again
    Tobias
