Graphical/Visual Input option

I know this is a long shot but... I am building an application where the user needs to indicate various parts of the body where an injury occurred. I could put the various sections into a select list (or even a series of select lists) but I was thinking it would be easier if I were to show the outline of a body and they were to click on the various sections.
Has anyone done something like this before? If so, how can it be done? Could you share the code and/or an example of a display where the user clicks on part of a graphic and a database field is updated?

Text input options missing

Hi,
After running some updates yesterday, the "show text input options" is no longer available in the options. Neither can I select suretype when writing a message. Would appreciate some help.

Had to re-boot after removing an application and everything back to normal! What bugs me is that my service provider tech never brought up a re-boot but rather wanted me to delete all my data and start all over!

Missing Some Select input options the Query

Hello all,
Normally when i excute a query, it will ask for date range and year, fiscal period etc input options which i have to input to execute a given query. But for one of the BWuser(sales guy) iam unable to see the fields, can anyone guess what cud be the problem. do you think its something to do with the BW authorization? any ideas to solve the problem are appreciated.

Hi, you need to force the variables to be asked.
Add &variable_screen=X at the end of the URL of the report. Check if then the values are requested.

Missing the visual upgrade option on SP 2010 site

I have a series of content databases that were upgraded from MOSS 2007. Most have not yet undergone the visual upgrade.
Today, I have been working on copying two of those sites to a new location.
I created two new team sites. These of course already had the visual upgrade.
I did an export-spweb of the two old sites. I then did an import-spweb of the two old sites into the new sites that I created.
The result is the two old style GUI in the new location.
When I took a look at the site settings (as a farm admin) I do not see an option to perform the visual upgrade on the sites.
I know that there are powershell commands that I can execute when the time is right.
I don't understand, however, where the visual upgrade option went.
Hmm - I just went back to the original sites that were copied and they too do not have the visual upgrade option in the site settings.
The top level site does, however, have that option.
Odd...

But export-spsite won't help.
1. These sites were being copied from one part of a site collection tree to another branch in the same site collection.
2. As I mentioned at the end of my posting, it turns out that the original sites had also lost their visual upgrade menu item - how, I do not know.
Because of these two factors - and maybe others - I was hoping there was a "simple fix" for this. But if there is not, then I just have to live wtih that.

Auxiliary Input option for Factory CD player ster

I initially bought an FM transmitter to use my micro zen in my car but the quality (and drop outs) were unbearable in the city... so I just received my order for one of these today and installed it in my 2004 Scion xA in about 45 minutes:

It didn't cost much more than a good FM transmitter and it's not as flexible (can't easily move it from car to car, DUH!) but the sound is AMAZING! I just figured I would pass on a good experience from adding an auxiliary input option and where you can pick one up for your car.
My factory stereo only came with a CD player so the tape apapter option obviously wasn't one that I had. I highly recommend <a href = "http://www.crutchfield.com/]crutchfield[/url] because there customer service was phenomenal, I received my order in ONE day, and it came with detailed instructions (with pictures) on how to remove my factory stereo to install it!

there's a connector on the back (not shown in the picture). it's like an 8-pin connector that you hook up to the back of your factory stereo. in my case, it get's hooked up to the satellite receiver control connector. the 4 inputs on the front (pictured) are the two new audio input channels that you have now "created" on your stereo. i bought a stereo mini to dual rca cable adapter (y splitter). the mini part plugs into you headphone jack and you connect the left and right channels to the box.
when my stereo powers on, i just push the CD button again and i get what looks like CD changer control options. power up the zen micro (push play) and there you go. i pump the volume up to about 20 on the zen micro and control the rest of the audio with my stereo. it's sounds great! now, i can get rid of all the burned backup copies of my CDs that i keep in my car to listen to.

Logic Pro X - Cannot see multiple input options

Hello,
I've been using other DAWs(DP and Studio One 2) but I decided to try Logic Pro X and purchased it yesterday.
I'm using a firewire audio interface which has multiple input options. For example, Ch1 and Ch2 are for mic inputs, ch3 and ch4 are for my external sound module (Yamaha Motif Rack), etc.
I tried to play and record the sound module on Logic, I first added "New External Midi Track". Then, I added "New Audio Track" to record the sound of sound module, like I do on other DAWs. I tried to select the ch 3-4 as an input for the audio track, however I could only see the input ch1-2 as an option for the track.
The audio interface's driver is installed correctly. In fact, I can use the input ch 3-4 with no problem on other DAWs.
Since I'm new to Logic Pro, I might have overlooked how to assign / setup the inputs.
Can anybody let me know how I can activate input ch3-4 on Logic Pro X?

Yeah, after I wrote the post, I found out that this happened because "built-in input" was chosen as a default input source on "Preferences -> Audio". That's why it only showed ch1-2. Now I chose my audio interface as the default input and I could see other channels.
That's good, however this brought up a new question, if I want to use multiple input options such as two audio interfaces or combination of built-in input and an audio interface, is it possible to do so?

How to update SP2010 sites that are missing the Visual Upgrade options

So, we are moving towards upgrading some SP 2010 sites that are currently using the old SP 2007 look and feel so that they have the new ribbon Visual Upgrade.
For some reason, some of these sites do not have the Site Actions > Visual Upgrade option nor do they have the Site Actions > Site Settings > Visual Upgrade link.
Does anyone know what can be done to make those available?

Three places:
1. Setings > General > Cellular is in the second block of access buttons.
2. Settings > General > About > Network tells what network you are on, and Carrier tells who your cellular service carrier is.
3. Settings > WiFi ON for wireless network access, then Choose a Network to select and attach to a wireless network.

As suggested, please check whether you have opened an input schedule or a report template. Those options are avialble only in input schedule and not in report.
Another thing will be to check the authorizations in task profile of the user in BPC Admin. For sending the data, the user should have the task SubmitData in his profile.

What happened to my Voice Input option button

My microphone was present on my keyboard and now it's not. I go to Settings/Language and Input/etc. etc. This is the message next to VOICE INPUT option that is grayed out "no voice input methods enabled. check Lang and input settings". I downloaded the Google keyboard and the same problem exists.
Why did the microphone key disappear? I can't put it back by the methods I have found using Google Search because I don't have the VOICE INPUT option. This is ridiculous. I loved using the TTS option. Now I can't. I've only had my phone a few months.

Having the same problem on my 3Gs after upgrade.
The voice memos are NOT in iTunes but when the phone is connected to iTunes i can see and hear the voice memos on the iphone menu inside iTunes.
So it looks like the memos are still in the phone but somehow invisible... and now?

Graphical data input for online forms

Is there a field type that allows graphical input data to be used within a livecycle pdf/xml form, i.e. the output from the form will be a series of coordinates the user enters by drawing within the field with a mouse or some other such device?
If not, can the comment tools be used for this purpose? The pencil tool is used to draw anywhere on the form and the coordinates are sent at the point of submission.
I'd be very grateful for comments and suggestions.

Hi,
Potential solutions depend on what the user will be using to access the form. If they are using the full version of Acrobat then they can automatically comment / annotate a form. However if they are using Reader then you will have to enable the form for comments. If you are using LC Reader Extensions to enable the form then you can include the option for the user to comment on the form. On the other hand if you are reader enabling through Acrobat then you cannot reader enable a static or dynamic form allowing a user to place comments / annotate a form. With Acrobat you can only enable a flattened PDF to allow Reader comments.
Attached is an example of a solution I implemented which was based on the current mouse position. There was a list of attributes and conditions to which related to the 10 markers. The user could then position the markers based on the SWOT. This was inspired by Thom Parker's fly swatter examples on www.pdfscripting.com. You might be able to work up a similar solution, where the user clicks a grid and the page coordiantes are assigned to a field. You will proably need to have a constant to convert the page coordiantes to the coordinated system you are working to.

Discreet graphics and other options for artists/designers

I have a suggestion for a the thinkpad x series convertable tablet or perhaps a future convertable tablet model perha. It would be great to see a configuration of this that has a decent dedicated graphics card. This thinkpad X series' combination of pen and touch input is very appealing for artists and designers who would be using the stylus for art in programs like photoshop or painter, and even 3d artists who would be working with programs like maya or Zbrush. a dual digitizer convertable tablet is having the input capabilities of a Wacom Cintiq, with the added bonus of the portability of a notebook PC. The only issue is that some of these higher end programs are more taxing powerwise, and that is why it would be really great to see a thinkpad X with discreet graphics option, that could provide a soution to folks working in said creative industries. A convertible tablet that can handle both the running and creation of high-end digital content, (video game sdks/engines, 3d animation, video editing) as well as still be a handy tool for meetings and note-taking and being able to work on site or on location at places, (such as on location at a commerical shoot, or working on a piece of art outdoors)
additionally, the ideapad K1 that just came out, looks very slick and attractive with its red paint job, and I believe a convertable tablet aimed at content creators would also be appealing if colors choices other than black, (such as red or blue) were offered, as several previous thinkpads (although so far, not the convertible tablets) have come in.

1) Coupling a HDD with a SSD cache is a boost for system start-up and program launching -- especially if you don't care about upgrading to "all SSD" at this time.
2) I have the Intel 6205 WLAN card in all my ThinkPads in use. At one place, the wireless router is 2Wire and the 6205 card connects without problems.
3) I've used G.Skill, Mushkin and Crucial. Search Newegg.

My mic is not appearing as an input option in Logic Pro X preferences

I am having trouble getting Logic Pro X to read my microphone as an input source. My computer is a Mac OSX 10.8.5. I believe my microphone is a Shure SM27 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone. The audio interface, as you can see in the pictures, is an Avid M-box.
I'll preface this by saying I am not technologically savvy whatsoever. Here are the directions I've been trying to follow to get my microphone to work, so I can start recording: http://www.co-bw.com/Audio_Recording_Logic_Mic_HookUP.htm
However, that page shows the Audio Midi Setup toolbar as having an "audio" option that you can click to find the Aggregate Device Editor. For some reason, as you will see in the picture I've attached, my Audio Midi Setup does not have that option.
I've also attached pictures of every component involved in this process to give everybody a better idea. It doesn't make sense to me why my microphone isn't recognized by Logic, but I'm hoping somebody can help. If you can, I would be extremely grateful, as this has been an extremely frustrating process. Thanks.

Just to be doubly clear: your Mac OS - Audio MIDI Setup will NOT see what is plugged into an audiointerface, it only sees the audiointerface itself and all its available in- and ouputs.
Second, those instructions you linked to are (I think) for Logic Pro 9 on OS X Snow Leopard, or older - the layout of AMS has changed somewhat since. You can find the Aggregate Device editor by clicking the little cogwheel bottom right of the AMS window.
But: you'll only need an aggregate device if you need to record your Sure and the built-in mic simultaneously. Or if you want to use your Avids' outputs and the Macs' output simultaneously. To just record your Sure, all you need is to select the M-Box as input device (replacing the built-in mic in picture 2), then, in Logic, create a mono audio track and choose the right input (1 or 2, probably), depending on where the mic's plugged into.
BTW, those plugs are commonly known as XLR plugs. Also, the microphone need phantom power. Don't forget to turn that on, or it still won't work.
And, to repeat Pancenters' point: right now you appear to have the built-in microphone of your computer selected as the only input source.

MIDI keyboard doesn't appear as input option

I'm a complete newbie with GB and MIDI, so apologies if this is an obvious one...
I have a Panasonic Technics SX-PX552 digital keyboard which I am connecting to my MacBook Pro using Soundtech's Lightsnake MIDI-USB cable (STUSBMIDI10). When connected, GB's preferences will display "1 MIDI input(s) detected". But, when I try to add a new Real Instrument Track, the only option that shows up for input source is the built-in microphone.
Am I missing something obvious? I've searched online for hours and everything I've found indicates I don't need to install any special drivers or anything... Help?

HDMI input options into early 2008 Macbook Pro

I have an early 2008 macbook pro. I'm looking to connect it to a casio digital video camera with hdmi output. What are my options for input into my macbook? Ideally, I would be able to capture live video from the camera into a golf video analysis program. I've read that the dvi port provides the highest quality video transfer. What kind of dvi cable do I need for the early 2008 port, if it allows for input at all? Would firewire or USB be a decent option? Do I need some sort of conversion card for video intake? Thanks for any advice...

Yes, if I understand you correctly, You can certainly transfer footage from a video camera to your MacBook Pro and view it there: you just can't have, for instance, a live video feed.
There are a number of ways to transfer data from a video camera - iLink (Firewire) was once an option, and may still be on some cameras, USB, etc.
