Hard currency and foreign exchange valuation

Dear experts,
I have defined INR as my company code currency (10) and USD as hard currency (40)
when i post any transaction it is reflected in both currencies
I post an invoice of Rs 400 when the rate is Rs 40: USD1
Thus in hard currency the USD amount is reflected as 10 USD
Now i pay the amount when rate is Rs 50:1 USD
eg rate has changed in the mean time
then when i pass the payment entry thru f-53 and process open item, exchange rate difference is generated to the extent of USD 2
The system is giving error that this account is not  configured in  exchange rate table eg (key KDB)
Does this mean that when i have a second currency, i necessarly have to define all accounts where such rate differences occur in the KDB or is there a way out
hope you can give detailed answer.
Regards,
Rishikesh

Hi,
This is standard SAP, that system valuates only the docuemnts in foreign currency using the document currency.
When the document is posted in local currency, that is not needed to be revaluated.

  • Foreign exchange valuation

    Dear All,
    We had done a valuation run and then reversed the valuation run documents thru mass reversal mode (mannually). Because there was some error in the initial valuation. By this time, the intial valuation got reversed by the system also on first of next month. Now we have to reverse the system reversal which got passed on first of next month. Can someone please tell us the method to do that. We are not able to reverse the reversal passed by the system on first of next month by calling the documents, bcoz it gives an error message saying this document cannot be reversed because it is already reversed.
    Please help me to come out of the problem. If you need any additional info, please let me know.
    Regards
    Suresh

    Hi
    Reversal of reversal is not possible.
    Here, you need to reverse the documents reversed manually (mass reversal) and do the valuation again.
    Postings made to loss/gain account are reversed automatically, so effects is nil.
    Now, the extra posting made is the mass reversal, pass the reverse JV for the same
    and do the valuation again.

  • Change the priority of job SAPF100 Foreing exchange valuation

    Hi
    How can i change the priority of job for the programme SAPF100 (foreign exchange valuation)
    SAP version: 4.6C
    Pls suggest me
    Thanks
    Suresh

    Batch job priority (Job Class) can be set when creating a batch job using transaction SM36 or changed in SM37 before a job is active.  Job class can be set from C to A, where C is normal (low) and B (medium) and A (high) are higher priority.  Batch processes on the server are allocated based on job class.

  • Hard currency is not valuated in FAGL_FC_VAL along with local and group currency

    Hi All,
    I have the below system settings for FOREX revaluation. The revaluation is not happening for Hard currency along with local and group currency. The test data and other settings seams to be fine as the below mentioned workaround works perfectly for hard currency revaluation.
    I would like to take your expert feedback on this issue to confirm whether this is how SAP works or its an issue with FAGL_FC_VAL program.
    System Settings:
    Currencies in company code
    local currency      group currency      hard currency
    10                             30                         40
    USD                          USD                    UYU
    FOREX settings:
    Work around found:
    Define two Valuation area, say
    1. Valuation Area: A1 which will have currency type 10 and 30.
    2. Valuation Area: A2 which will have only the currency type 40.
    3. Run FAGL_FC_VAL twice for these area.
    Issue with this work around:
    1. The valuation area is assigned to one accounting principle (which is in turn assigned to a specific ledger).
    2. Thus, if I have different accounting FOREX process to be followed in different ledgers (say IFRS ledger, Local Ledger, Tax ledger) then I need to create 2 valuation area (as per above workaround) for each ledgers and run FAGL_FC_VAL for each of these valuation areas.

  • Onlybalances on local currency - incorrect foreign currency valuation

    Dear all,
    I have the following problem:
    My customer created some manual accounts and did tick the box for only balances in local currency. Now my customer wanted to do foreign currency valuation on these accounts. I told the customer to make balance zero on account, un-tick "local currency" on GL account master record. And then reverse the document wihich makes the balance zero. This worked fine. But now when the customer wants to do foreign currency valuation (on balances) only new postings after the GL account master data change will be taken into account for balance.
    It must be possible to change this? So that balance in document currency and local currency is correct when comparing to for example line items in fbl3n.
    Very gladful for any help!
    BR Åsa

    Thank you for the information. Just want to make this clear. I did the following. Acoount number is 166000.
    1. Amount in document currency: balance 5000 PLN (debet)
    Amount in local currency: 12000 SEK (debet)
    2. Post a GL account document:
    Credit 12 000 SEK account 166000
    Debet 12000 SEK account 168000 (or any other account).
    3. Un-tick only balances in local currency on GL account master data
    4. Reverse the GL document created in step 2 above.
    5. Test run foreign currency valuation on account 166000 does not show any postings (no balance in other currency).
    Can you please help me with what to do exactly? (GL postings)
    Thank you very much!

    kamala

    Hi,
    I am not sure this is a right solution.  But I have some inputs on your requirements:
    1. For traveller cheques you may create a new payment method and do the required configuration for automatic payment program.  Don't generate any payment medium while running APP.
    2. For currency notes (cash payment) I am not sure how it works.  But probably it is possible by creating an account (account ID) for a particular house bank and use that (house bank & account id) for making payment.
    Per my knowledge we have never used payment method cash (currency notes) in APP.  But logically it would work by create a new payment method and doing the required config for APP.
    Please update if you found a better way to do this.
    thanks & regards,

  • Report for Unrealized/Realized Foreign Exchange Payments and Receipts

    Is there a report in SAP that shows unrealized/realized foreign exchange cash receipts and payments. if yes, what is that report. Please provide transaction code.
    If not, do we need to create ABAP query. How do we create that Query in this regard. What information are we required to give the Abap person or do we create an Query ourself. How do we create it. please explain with steps.
    It is little urgent. Please reply soon.
    Thanks
    Lakshmi

    Hi Lakshmi,
    I can try to explain this financial funda more claraly as below:-
    Realized Exchnage rate Diffrence Gain/ Loss:-
             When the foreign currency transaction has actually completed and you have gained/lossed due to that transaction is called as realized gain/loss.
             For example you have purchased the goods on 01 Jan, 2008 for 5000 INR (100 USD) on credit. Now on 16th Jan, 2008 you paid the invoice by paying 100 USD and clear it off. But on 16th Jan, the exchange rate between INR: USD came down to 45. So you gained by amount 500 INR (100 USD * (50-45)). This is the realized gain when you clear of the invoice againest the payment.
    UnRealized Exchnage rate Diffrence Gain/ Loss:-
             Here the foreign exchange rate diffrence appear but not realized, because the transaction is not cleared up.
             Taking the scenario above, if you do not pay on 16th jan and invoice remains open. You run the F.05 at month end to revaluate the open items and on 31st Jan, the exchange rate came down at 48 INR per USD. Then F.05 will show the unrealized gain of 200 INR (100 USD * (50-48)).
    I hope that this clarifies the things. if yes, please assign some points.

    Gaurav

  • Valuation of foreign exchange forward with NPV split for interest vs FX impact?

    Hello,
    I have the following business requirement regarding the accounting treatment of the valuation of a foreign exchange forward deal :
    1. during the lifetime of the deal
    step1. valuation
              the deal should valued at its NPV using the swap points curve (table AT15) => that gives the "VALUE"
         BUT
    step 2. the posting of the deal's value should be SPLIT into TWO components
                   a) component 1 = linearly amortized swap points since deal date +2   until valuation date     => to be classified to interest result
                   b) component 2 =  VALUE - component 1                                                                                => to be classified to unrealized fx result
    Comment.
    So, in fact it is some hybrid combination of the two SAP standard valuation methods
                   a) spot/spot + swap accrual + swap valuation (but NO NPV calculation)
                   b) NPV calculation (without any split in components)
    2. at maturity
         realized fx result :     calculation based on deal spot rate versus spot rate at maturity
         interest result :          calculation based on deal spot rate vs deal forward rate
    Don't see how this "mixted behavior" can be achieved by customizing the valuation process.
    Please help.
    Best regards,
    Carl

    Hi Carl,
    In order to use the 2step valuation during the lifetime of forex contracts, you need to combine 2 valuation steps in your Position Management Procedure:
    1. step 6 Rate valuation for forward exchange transactions: spot-spot
    2. step 4 Security valuation
    Additonally, if the NPV should be calculated based on swap points from AT15, you need to apply BAdI JBA_SFGDT that is able to adjust TPM60 or/and reports in MRA if needed. See SAP note 0000940562 for details (and also 1941874 for extrapolation issues).
    As far as i know, at maturity you can only have 1flow of gain/loss by using standard SAP Solution.
    Best regards,
    Piotr

  • Clearing in foreign currnency and local currency and F13E

    Hello,
    I have a GL account whose Balance in Local Currency Only (BILCO) and Open Item Management (OI) flags are set. The line items posted to this account are always in foreign currency say EUR. In the month end, we use F13E (Automatic clearing with definition of clearing currency), specify EUR, and clear the line items.
    But i wonder if we still need to clear in local currency or not. Financially we are not impacted, since this is a transit type of account. We dont use F.13, since in local currency there are exchange rate gains and losses, which for us for this account make no purpose to record.
    Cheers

  • In Journal can i specify the Foreign currency  and local currency amount?

    In Journal Entry can i specify the Foreign currency amount and local currency amount?
    I tried the following code it is working fine using DIAPI.
    Here the Local currency and the System currency is SGD. And the Journal is for USD.
    oJnl.Lines.FCDebit = 120.10
    oJnl.Lines.FCCredit = 0
    oJnl.Lines.FCCurrency = "USD"
    oJnl.Lines.Debit = 120.10
    oJnl.Lines.Credit = 0
    oJnl.Lines.Add()
    oJnl.Lines.FCDebit = 0
    oJnl.Lines.FCCredit = 120.10
    oJnl.Lines.FCCurrency = "USD"
    oJnl.Lines.Debit = 0
    oJnl.Lines.Credit = 120.10
    oJnl.Add()
    But, the above way of doing is not working if i pass this Journal through B1.
    B1 is not allowing to change the local currency amount, Local currency amount is automatically calculated based on the FC amount and the Exchange rate.
    So Can i use the DIAPI to do this? is this right to do?

    Solved.
    In Journal Entry window, please kindly go to Form Settings/Document/
    Table tab page/ Convert Amounts According to Rate upon Exit:
    Clear the checkboxes 'From LC Field' & 'From FC Field', then the Local
    currency amount will not be automatically calculated based on the FC
    amount and the Exchange rate.

    I thought it should only have foreign Exchange gain, but after I did automatical clearing(t-code F.13)
    I found the clearing document had a line item on Exchange loss in Document No.3(the second line).
    Who know the reason?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi
    As per the Accounting the entry is right
    Dr:AP 0 300 39486 0
    Dr:Exchange Loss 0 120 1443 0
    Cr:Exchange Gain 0 -280 -27286 0
    Cr:Exchange Gain 0 -140 -13643 0
    But actual entry should come like this
    Dr:AP 0 300 39486 0
    Cr:Exchange Gain 0 -200 -27286 0
    Cr:Exchange Gain 0 -100 -13643 0
    We need to verify why 200 has come as 280 and 100 has come as 140
    Can you verify the date which you have done outgoing payment and date which you have done clearing?
    may be different dates with different foriegn currency rate
