HD Clips ALWAYS need rendering when imported??

I am shooting 1280x720 30fps HD on a SANYO Xacti camera. They are shot in mP4 format. I believe I need to convert them PRIOR to importing them into FC Studio. Any suggestions on settings using Compressor?? Or what settings in FCP?? I can preview the clips from the card by selecting the icon and pressing the space bar. Plays beautifully. However, when I import them into FCP I drag them to the timeline and the audio is RED and needs rendering. No biggy. However, when I add camera two footage BOTH audio and video are RED. 5 HOURS!! to render before editing. HELP! I am shooting using H.264 - my FCP settings are Apple ProRes 422 1280x720 30fps 48kHz. and H.264

Your footage is H.264...A non-native editing codec with FCP. This won't work without rendering as your sequence settings differ from your footage. Either convert to ProRes before editing (highly preferred), or make custom settings with H.264 (possible, but not the best way to go).

  • Cinematized QT's always need rendering... why?

I experimented with every video output option Cinematize has and even the lowest resolution QT file with no audio requires rendering in my timeline. I have FCP 6, so it asks if I want to switch the timeline to match the clip, but still RED LINE. I've tried every easy setup! and i've customized my sequence settings to my clips... so WHY?!
Here are my clip settings: 29.92, 640x480, DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, pixel aspect = square. Is it the frame size? is it my powerbook? I have an HDV project that processes HDV footage fine... but not this!
I already trashed my preferences and fiddled with the sequence playback...
any help is much appreciated. Thank you

Cinematized QT's always need rendering... why?
Because your clips are not matching your FCP Sequence settings. If your Sequence settings are DV NTSC, then you need 720x480 (rectangular pixels) with the audio being AIFF, 48khz, 16 bit.

  • Captured clips that need rendering ?

    Hello,
Anyone have any idea why my clips all need rendering after capture.
Its just DV Pal shot 16:9 - what could the problem be ?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
    Peter

... what could the problem be ?
The sequence settings don't match the clips. If they do, you don't need to render.
If you have FCP 6 or 7, create a new sequence (doesn't matter what easy preset you use) and drop one of the captured clips into it. When FCP asks you if you want to change the sequence settings to match the clip, say yes.
If you are working on FCP 5 or earlier, create a new sequence using the DV/PAL 16:9 anamorphic preset. If that is what you really captured, you should not have to render.

  • Rendering - clips need rendering when they shoudn't

I am working on a new sequence on FCE 3.5.1 (HD imported from sony hdr-hc5 - no previous problems). Now whenever I move a clip from one track to another (whether on top of another clip in another track or not) it requires rendering and when I move it back to a track where there are no clips on tracks above or below it it needs rendering (even though all I have done is move it and haven't done anything else to the clip at all). This didn't use to happen and as far as I know I haven't changed any of the settings. It does eventually auto-render but by my reckoning it shouldn't rendering at all just because the clip has been moved. They never used to

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Al
    Aha.
Sequence is 720x576 DV-PAL. Clip is 1440x1080 aple intermed codec.
So, the sequence is wrong. Is there any way I can change the properties of the sequence without starting all over again as I have got some way down the line on the project and would like to keep the progress made to date.
Thanks for the quick response by the way.

  • How to set up so that 1920 x 1080  h.264 files don't need to be rendered when importing onto timeline

Is there a way to set up final cut express to default to the proper settings so that 1920 x 1080 h.246 mov files don't have to be rendered when dropped onto the timeline? It is really not efficient to work on something when it takes hours to render. Thanks

    Thanks Tom,
Is it the same in fcs? Or does fcs have the capacity to import without render to timeline?
    Appreciate the reply.

  • How do I get audio back on single clip that loses audio when imported into Premiere Pro CC?

I've got one clip out of many that for some reason won't play any audio when imported into Premiere Pro.  I am new to Premiere Pro so am hoping it's something stupid I've done, but this is a problem with just a single clip exported the same way as all my others, the original audio is loud (not quiet) and none of the FAQ issues seem to apply (ie I haven't muted the audio or anything stupid like that)
The clip was exported from Plural Eyes into a "master" Premiere Pro project where the audio is fine. I exported it as a short MP4 clip and if I play the clip in Windows Media Player the audio is there loud and clear.
But when I import the clip into a fresh Preimiere Pro CC project this clip appears with just the "film strip" icon on the far left in the Timeline panel, unlike other clips which have an icon that shows "film strip" in the background and "audio wave" in the foreground.
I'm hitting so many glitches with the CC editions of Premiere Pro and After Effects which have annoying inconsistencies between them I'm tempted to just go back to Sony Vegas Pro (single program, no hassle) but hoping most of these issues are down to "newbie incompetence". Very hard to understand why this one clip out of many should be giving me this specific problem though. Any ideas?

I'm getting so many weird results. Most go away by simply closing the project and re-opening and I only have 6GB memory but even so, I'm disappointed by what I thought was supposed to be more "world class" video editing software than Sony Vegas Pro which I found to be a lot more stable. Also struggling with differences between Premiere and After Effects. Every time I want to do something in Pro I seem to need to go to After Effects and vice-versa. After Effects lets me do more of what I could "just do" in Vegas Pro timeline, but it's hideous for lining up audio and having to render anything in RAM to even get a clue as to what a change has done.  Need to add Audition to the long list as well I suspect. Fun times!

  • HVX footage always need rendering

Hi folks. I'm new to using the HVX200. This is probably a bonehead question, but hopefully someone can help me out. I import the footage from the P2 cards, and all if fine, however, every time I drop some footage onto the timeline, I need to render the entire thing. It's fine in the preview window, but on the timeline, all needs rendering. The footage was shot 720P at 24fps. I've meddled with every setting for the timeline. None seem to work. I figure it should be DVC PRO 720p, or something close to that, but none work. Do I have to run the stuff through compressor or something? Sorry for the dumb question, but any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    EASY SETUPS.
Choose the DVCPRO HD 720p24 Easy Setup...create a new sequence. Use that sequence.

  • Need help when importing data

    Hi All,
When iam importing data into excel, leading zero's are truncating.
Eg: I have a column orgid in a table. Data is like 00067509,056429...
When importing into excel, leading zeros are truncated and orgid data shown in excel as 67509,56429...
Please help to get zero's in excel.

you did not post info how you create the data to be available for excel. it is important to us that you also describe how you create the data. i will assume that you create the text file on oracle and i'll try to give an example as a workaround that might work to you. we create a .csv file that can be opened to excel and each of the column is enclosed by double quotes and separated by comma. the column whose values had leading zeroes we added an equal sign before enclosing them to a double quotes (e.g. ="000123456") this way when it is opened on excel it preserves the leading zeroes.

  • All my HD clips need rendering when first put on the timeline -why?

hello people, I've captured loads of HD from sony A1E and a bit of DVcam from canon XL2 , the dvcam stuff is fine, but all the HD needs to be rendered before I can see it in the canvas, I went along with it but now no more space! Is it to do with the easy setup capture settings? i set it to 1080i50 25fps, maybe my camera runs a faster fps, could it be having to convert it before i see it?
    please help
    mark

Your settings are obviously for DV, as your DV footage needs no rendering. When you choose the HDV Easy Setup and create a new sequence, your HDV footage will fit just fine, but then your DV footage will need to be rendered. After you resize it...because initially it will be smaller in the frame. Highlighting the clip and going to MODIFY>Fit to Sequence will make it the right size.

  • How do I keep .mov clips from being squashed when imported into iMovie HD6?

Hi there! First time poster... Hoping someone can help me out with this:
I've stupidly shot some footage with my digital camera sideways, portrait-style. I used QuickTime Pro 7 to rotate the footage clockwise, preserving the aspect ratio, so now the .mov clips are 480x640 pixels (so 3:4, instead of the standard 4:3).
When I import the clips into iMovie HD 6, the footage gets squashed to fit the 4:3 screen, making everyone look shorter and fatter. The Help file advises that iMovie "automatically adjusts incoming footage to fit the screen size (aspect ratio) of your project".
Is there some way I can opt out of this automatic adjustment? I'd prefer to have black bands on the sides of the screen than squashed video!
Thanks for any help you can give. Cheers!

You'll need to make an all black 640X480 image file and add it to your video.
Adjust its layer so it is in the background and then reduce the dimensions of your video so it fits over it.
Bring this new file into iMovie.

  • Movie clips have wrong time when importing

I use to rename my images before importing to iPhoto. I copy them from my camera to a folder in the desktop, rename everything to my like using Adobe Bridge, and then I import them to iPhoto. That way the name of a file usually corresponds to the one in the internal Library (control-freak as I am). That said, I never mess with the Library.
But I'm having this problem all the time: After importing, all the image pictures are listed on the event accordingly to their correct date/time, but the movie clips are not. They always have an irregular variation in time, sometimes with a difference of several hours, that I have to change manually using iPhoto "adjust date/time" to have them sorted ok chronologically. The strange thing is: that EXIF data is correct in Bridge! I even use this to view/reference the correct time in Bridge, and change it on the movie file already imported in iPhoto.
Could this be a bug in iPhoto, or is there something wrong with my way of importing? Again, it happens only to the movie files, not the images.
    Thanks.

Thank you. I didn't know that.
But still, for me it's a common issue to have iPhoto reading a wrong "File Created" data on my imported movies, even though it seems to be OK on the original file. Does it ever happen to you, know about that issue? Sometimes I have ten or more movie clips in an event and it's a bit of a hassle to restore manually the correct time for each one.
Maybe it's Bridge fault, maybe it's iPhoto, maybe my workaround is the only answer to this "bug"?
    Thanks again.

  • P2 clips out of sync when imported

Using log/transfer on FCP 7.0.3 to import P2 panasonic 23.98 clips. Has always worked fine BUT this time clips cannot play audio. They play fine in the log/transfer preview, but not as clips in the project.
    Any ideas?

Did you overcrank the footage, shooting 24pn over 60?
If so, no sound is recorded

  • Timeline always need rendering before playback

I am cutting a showreel. I have ripped DVD's using Handbrake as mpeg 4's (ffmpeg codec)
Then I put them through MPEG stream clip as mpeg 4's to bring the size down from 1.5 gig's to about 200mg.
I then put them into Final Cut Pro.
But when I cut them on to the timeline they have to be rendered even though I have done nothing to them. I have tried changing timeline settings but nothing seems to work.
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers, Dan.

Hello David, thankyou very much for the post, much appreciated.
I have 2 more questions, firstly if not export to mpeg 4 in mpeg streamclip, which would you suggest, QTime, AVI, mpeg 2 etc.
The other question is- I have chosen PAL CCIR 601 (720 x 576) in my timeline sequence settings.
Therefore in MPEG Streamclip I have selected frame size 'unscaled' (720 x 576). But in selecting 'compression' there are about 30 options and I am a bit lost.
    Cheers,
    Dan.

  • IMovie 10.0 contains glitch. Clips become tinted red when imported.

Just throwing it out there. You are not alone. It was reported to Apple that some imported clips become tinted red in the newest version. A news article. If you would like to help, does anyone have a work around. I must finish an editing project and I've tried everything. After the first few clips, the rest are red. Tried restarting, quiting and reopening, every setting.

I just found the solution for others experienceing this. It seems it happens most with .mov files. I changed to a mp4 by changing the file extension but iMovie still turned it red. The way I found is to convert it using SmartConverter in the app store for OSX to the iPad option.

  • Imported Rotated Clips get Squished vertically when imported

Had clips taken vertically and used Quick Time Pro to flip 90 degrees and look fine in Quick Time player. But when I put into iMovie and preview they are compressed vertically so everyone looks FAT!! Tried Final Cut Express Classic version and MPEG streamclip but cannot find a solution. I reviewed some similar posts but did not find the solution yet. John

Thank you very much Lennart. Still took me a while to get it right. The trick was to start with the sideways clip, rather than first rotating with Quicktime. When I exported and rotated in one step per the MPEG Streamclip instruction it worked fine and then opened great in iMovie 6. Appreciated quick help!!
