Help! 3rd Party themes on N95 8gb!

Just got the N95 8gb and trying to install 3rd party themes. I can install it on the phone, but when I go to themes in setting the themes that were shipped with the phone are the only themes their.
Help. Am I doing anything wrong and are the themes still on the phone?

check if softaware installation is set to all and not signed only. online certificate check should be off. you can find these setting via menu, settings, applications, app. manager.
Have you managed to install any other application software ever since you got the phone and does it work? also check wherther the theme is for N95 and not a general theme. you can get more themes from www.zedge.net
If an error pops up saying certificate expired or something just change the date of ur phone to 2006 and then install... then set it back to 2007

PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE! - my N95 8GB only disconne...

My Phone is a Nokia N95 8GB with firmware v.31.0.015 and I'm trying to update to v.35.0.001, which is the latest firmware for my product code.
I have updated the firmware of this phone using Nokia Software Updater at least 2 times before successfully on the same computer as I'm using now. This time the phone only disconnects during the update and the program asks me to disconnect charger/battery/usb cable, and to reconnect them again and click "Retry". But it it's always the same all the time - it disconnects. I have tried re-installing all Nokia programs, I've tried running NSU by itself, from Nokia PC Suite and I've tried the updater from Ovi Suite (but it tells me that v.31.0.015 is the latest firmware!?).
The good thing is that the phone is still working properly but it has the old firmware, v.31.0.015.
Please, does anyone have any clue what the problem can be?
I am hoping for the updated NSU 2.4, but it has not been released yet, despite announced by a Nokia Employee on this discussion furumsome weeks ago.

There is nothing wrong with phone itself , so "Reset" will not help. You can have a few problems, already (like corrupted communications drivers between Nokia and PC). My advise is to do this in few steps. First to clean old Nokia PC Suit.
1. download: "Nokia_PC_Suit_Cleaner_7_1_1.exe" and rid off old installation.
2. download: "Nokia_PC_Suit_7_1_40_1_eng_web.exe" and install like any other Nokia PC Suit including connection manager and so on but do not go to "Nokia Software Updater", yet. It will not work.
3. download: "NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup.exe" but do not install, yet. (so do not hit "run" after downloading)
4. Find just downloaded above file of Software Updater and with cursor on this file click right button. In Windows7 there is "Troubleshoot Compatibility" option. Just hit it and windows will sort it out. On the next window hit "Try Recommended Setting".
On the follow up window there will be an information about applied compatibility mode and "Run The Program" button. Just hit it and install this "Software Updater". This also will replace original installation of software updater which is included with new Nokia PC Suit.
For me this is the cleanest way do solve this problem. It showed me compatibility with "WindowsXP Service Pack 2".
I do not know what operating system you are using. I am using Windows7 64 bits without any problems.
Probably you can try go stright to property of this downloaded file and do this changes in compatibility option by yourself.
By the way it is hardly to see any sagnificant improvement by comparing both versions. I hope it will help. Bye.

How to delete themes on N95 8gb

Hi just installed a few themes on my N95 8gb phone. i want to delete a couple of them but there is no way to delete it. i mean the theme menu has no key or nething saying delete. When i click Help .. it says that you should scroll to the theme and press C button. even doing that it dosent delete ne of the themes. On my N82 it deletes easily.
Ne1 got some idea's fer this. Help

Sometimes themes don't show in the app manager so use tyhis method
You need to hook up your N95 to your PC via the USB lead and access the data transfer/mass storage mode, and you need to make sure your file explorer can view hidden folders.
You'll find the theme files in a folder named 'Private', in this folder are lots of other folders. Go to the folder named '10207114' and then enter the folder inside called 'Import'
In here are all the themes on your sd card/mass memory.
You have to open every folder and then look in the skn folder to find the name of the theme as the folders are named by numbers and not the theme itself, if the PC doesn't allow you to open the file then choose to open it with Notepad, then scroll across until you see the name of the theme and usually it'll say the creators name too.
Once you know it's the theme you want to delete then you have to delete the whole folder including the mbm,mif,ini and skn folders.

Remove themes from N95 8GB

How do you remove unwanted themes on the N95 8GB internal memory???
I have tried via the Application manager and factory reset but it wont allow me.
Please help as it it driving me nuts.... LOL

If you mean the themes that came pre-installed on the phone then I don't think they can be removed (unless someone knows better).
I think you can only uninstall the themes that you have installed.

Duplication of 3rd party themes

After installing iWork 06, I noticed that all the third party themes I had installed in Keynote from IWork 05 are still there, but now all of them are duplicated. Anyone know how to fix this problem short of deleting and reinstalling all of them?

I had the same problem - there were duplicate themes folders in applications/support/keynote/themes in the route and individual library folders; I deleted one of them and everything is fine.

Help with hotmail pop3 on n95 8gb

Im using these settings from a website
Hotmail (Live)
Incoming Setting

Outgoing Settings

and it can retireve messanges no problems. But if I send one it just seems to hang for ages and then in the outbox menu it says Queued.
Any ideas why?
Im glad hotmail now supports POP3 but want to be able ot send aswell as retieve.

After lots of internet browsing looking for the correct answer I have finally sorted this matter.
If you are on O2 for broadband (home) or O2 for your mobile these are the settings you need. Hope it saves someone else from having to spend days looking like me. Even hotmail did not know, probably because it is O2 specific.
I can't get the same settings to work for both O2 wap connections and O2 broadband Wi Fi. I presume the only way round this would be to have 2 hotmail profiles on my phone! I am also surprised that it was not just O2 wi fi that it did not work with I have tried another one at work and that failed to send also.
Anyway

Incoming:

How do I get my iWork'09 3rd party Keynote themes into Keynote 6.0?

1. I had iWork '09 installed on my computer from the old installation disk. It was not clear at the keynote that I would receive the updates for free as I already owned them. I was expecting to see the updates when I opened up the App Store, but they were not there which gave the impression that I was SOL since I didn't purchase them through the App Store. I even received the message "[App name] is already installed, purchase anyway?", but that message is cryptic and not clear that I was going to receive the update, so I wound up purchasing the iWork apps again, just to wake up this morning to find out that I should have received them for free. I am truly hoping for a refund, because at $20 each, that's a big difference between that and free.
2. I opened up keynote to play with the new features, but because the internal architecture is different, it no long references my old themes folder in Library > Application Support > iWork > Keynote. I have tried copying the files to other permutations of possible reference folders in the global and user libraries, but have had no success. These 3rd party themes were not cheap either. I'm sure there is a way to get them to show up in the Keynote Theme Selector, but I haven't stumbled on it yet. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the link to the troubleshooting tips! It contained the correct answer which is:
"If your documents or changes still don’t appear, try creating a new document on your iOS device, and then check again for existing documents from iCloud to appear".
I created a test document in Pages and when I returned to my documents all the documents from iCloud reappeared.

N95 8gb dead or can i fix it? help!

hey all,
first time ive posted here but im hoping you guys can help. I have a n95 8gb that was working fine until today.
I turn the phone on it loads normally but once its booted the only button that works is the power button.
When its loading i can cancel the nokia hand shaking video with the C button so i dont think its a hardware thing. Ive tried doing a hard reset but that does work. I have tried to do a firmware update but i cant select the mode of transfer when i plug it into my computer (because the keys dont work). One thing i didnt notice was weird one of the times it loaded the list of open programs came up and had programs ive never heard of before running/opening one was carosel and the other one was adatserver.
so im kinda stuck
any suggestions?

If no keys work after you boot up then you can only try the Hard Reset.
Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
The "3 finger deep reset" which is depress these three keys simultaneously "*" "3" "green phone" and then power on phone whilst keeping those same three keys depressed until you hear start-up tone.
This should ONLY be done if the device doesn't power up normally anymore and it wipes everything in the Phone memory that is not part of the ROM.
Failing the above, your only remaining option is to send it to your nearest Nokia Care Point.

Does the New N95 8gb...

Have the vodafone theme, pre built in it? and if it has, can you change it back to the original nokia interface?
Because the majority of vodafones' phones are built in with that **bleep**py interface and you can't change it. I hope it doesn't cause they will spoil the n95's look of class on the 8gb edition.

Australis - Begins now the big death of Adons and Third Party Themes?

Following the Nightly and Aurora Series with Big Interest. And after checking out now the Nightly UX with the more advanced parts of Australis seen in Preview...
Will there afterwards still be Themes and Adons available? I know that Mozilla plans to simplify the Browser since "Every Day's Computer Users could feel overloaded" - But is that really necessary that you break lot of Adons and most of the Complete 3rd Party Themes?
Not one single 3d Party Theme i tried with UX does work anymore, no problem with Aurora Alphas and normal Nightly.
You really should perhaps also think about the more advanced Users, because taking that beloved features away from us, to make Firefox more Google Chrome simple similiar - does not only good things!
So please, do not plan to remove Adons and Theme Support!

Nightly - Aurora - Beta is the direct development path to the Firefox Release versions. Whereas Australis / UX is a 'side path' for experimentation and development off of the direct path to Firefox. N95 8Gb themes cannot be installed

hi my name is monty and i am using n95 8Gb, i try to install the theme from trusted website for my phone, but it says the application not compatible with phone. i don't know what to do, can any one help me plz.

things to look for:
- compatibility with s60 3rd edition fp1
- expired certificates, in which case you would just have to turn back the time temporairly approx 1 year and install your theme, then resotre to accurate date.

hello all
please can some one give me a step by step guide to getting dvds onto my n95?im not all that brilliant on computers but realsie that to do this i need to down load a 3rd party application such as super?
i first tried my dvd but super kept crashing...the one time it didnt crash and after i converted it onto my phone i only had audio and no picture??
any help really would be appreciated

START SUPER
Once it starts you are at the main screen which can be rather intimidating at first. But once you know what the things are then it's actually not that hard. Once you set it once you pretty much don't need to touch it again as it will save the last settings you used to encode.
Ok now let me go over the main controls that are at the top numbered 1,2 and 3.
The first one is the Container. This refers to the extension or MIME type that the file will be output to. Like .MP4, .3G2, .3GP, .AVI.
For Nseries devices you can select mp4 or 3gp. Other settings MAY work but I haven't experimented with all of them. So feel free to try on your own time and share your results.
Now let's move to the next setting. The Codec.
The codec list shown will depend on the Container you selected in the previous screen. So for MP4 that would be the list of codecs. For Nseries devices you can use MPEG-4, H264 or H263.
Well now, it's time to select the audio codec. In this case it's simple. Just leave the AAC as the codec.
The next thing I want to touch on is DIRECT SHOW button.
When you will use an input file (the video you want to transcode), that's supported by Windows, then it's a Directshow file. Basically if Windows Media Player can play the video then you can select Directshow. There are some limitations though and it may not work 100% but that's the theory.
Why is this importat?, well as I mentioned before if you have Directshow then you can do more advance editing on the file like these options (press the Button):
So, you can join files to create looped version (multiple copies end-end) slow down playback, speed it up. flip, rotate, change colors, change to B&W, include fade in or fade out, add the clip info or a watermark.
Just remember that you should do just 1 effect per transcode. This is important, if you select multiple things then it will fail. Also Remember to press the RST (reset) buttons to CLEAR your settings after you are done, otherwise the next video you transcode will use this same settings.
If the video you are converting is NOT Directshow. Like a Quicktime movie or an FLV, then don't select DirectShow!
So now we have selected the Container, Codec, Audio and DirectShow settings (if applicable). It's time to select the video output details.
It's pretty self explanatory. I just want to point your attention to the H264 button. In some posts I've warned people about the different H264 types and why some H264 files don't play. Well hit the button.
And a new window will open (you can move the window location). Then here it's very important to select BaseLine. Otherwise the video will not play.
Now let's continue with the settings. The next area you see is the AUDIO section of SUPER:
As you can see you can select here the sample rate, number of channels, bitrate and Language track (for DVD video files but I've never used this feature). I recommend not going overboard with the Sampling frequency and bitrate. From my experience 64 or 96 kbps produce decent quality audio for most applications and sampling at 48 or 44.1 Khz is ok.
Now that we've looked at the main settings. Let's encode a file.
The first thing you need to do is right click on the SUPER window to bring up the menu.
Then from here you might want to change the output destination folder so that you manage where the encoded files end up (by default they end up in c:\program files\erightsoft\super\output).
Now select Add Multimedia Files and select the files you want to convert.
Once you select a file it should look something like this:
The files will be listed there with a checkbox next to it. The file has to be checked to be converted. Please check that it's checked.
From here you can also play the file using the Play button, or Encode.
Then sit and wait.
Encoding times vary greatly depending on the settings, the input file type, your CPU and memory and what you're doing. But on average expect the transcoding to take 1.5-2 times what the file is. So for a 2 hour movie expect 3-4 hours. conversion time.
Ok, congratulations!, you've successfully transcoded a video. Now it's time to put it into your phone.
Easiest way:
1. Connect the USB cable to phone
2. Select File Transfer or Data Tranfer or Mass Storage as USB mode
3. Once Windows completes adding the device open the File Explorer in your PC and locate the new Drive that represents your phone
4.
5. Copy the video file to this drive under My Videos.
6. If you don't know how to copy a file in Windows then maybe video conversion is too advanced for you.
If you want to add a thumbnail to your video. Get a picture that represents your video. Or capture a frame from you video (SnagIt or similar program can be used) and then follow my instrauctions as here.
TIP: Remember to always stop your USB devices before unplugging them from your PC to avoid data corruption. Press this button:

I have a brand new iMac that does not have iDVD. Made a move on iMovie installed a 3rd party burn prog. but DVD won't playback on my regular dvd player. Need to burn one that will. Help!

My new iMac did not come with iDVD as they are not using iDVD any longer. I made a movie that I needed to put on a DVD that would play on any external DVD player. After calling Apple twice, they recommened a 3rd party program so I downloaded "Burn-osx" and made the DVD; however when i insert it into my player connected to the TV it gives the message "disk error --playback feature may not be available on this disk". Ok--now what? I am up against a time line here--need the DVD for a graduation party! Help! What am I not doing correctly?

If you are still within your 15 day return period. Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge. (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick. You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD. I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, and others. None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie. Get iDVD.

Pc is not recognising PDF file ( icon ) in emails and to open these it is loading a 3rd party program on the web. I have installed Adobe several times. To open my files I need to drag them to my Adobe program. any ideas??

This problem is on my laptop running Vista ( Business) on Adobe 10.0 , for many years I did NOT have a problem with this . No forum Pages on this.
Also i would like to know how screen readers can better interact with PDF as my wife has difficultys on some email attachments on her laptop , again there seems no easy avenue for someone in her situation surfing websites and forums for Hours maybe ok ok for sighted people, but not if you are blind & use a screenreader. No Support Help from Adobe is available.
