Help by Forum Mods solved slow speed

Thank you to the replies in the super slow thread where I posted. A big thank you to Stephanie a Forum Moderator who guided me back to a better service and speed than before the issue started.
If you have lost tithe good broadband speed you once enjoyed I recommend you follow the guidance of the Forum Moderators. Like me your frustration will hinder any progress and patience is needed,  two weeks in my case.
I had 6 Mbps in November, then down to .25, I blamed BT for capping throttling me, and raged at those on the forum that insisted Bt don't do this ( deliberately ) vented my anger at BT vowing to move to Sky (which I will not).
here is what I know now....
I caused my own problem, I switched the power of the hub when away for a week, the exchange assumed a power cut which would do the same and automatically registers a fault on my broadband cuts the speed to 0.25mbps ( No human BT dictator flicks any switches or choses me maliciously ). The automated procedure of the computers at the exchange is now to monitor my BB connection and if there are no more outages or faults gradually bring the speed back up. For some this will happen over 3 to 5 days. I never had more than 3 hours without dropping tithe connection so that was not going to happen.
I had two unforeseen further problems, a fault on my voice line, BT eng summoned by the Forum Mod, and faulty connection sorted. Still the BB connection was dropping inside a 12houri window. I noticed that there were now as many a 5 Bt hubs and 3 others being offered by my wireless connection. Stephanie then guided me on changing the wireless frequency of my hub, to avoiinterference from my neighbours hubs. Problem solved.
I now have 10.5 Mbps and a very stable connection, I was able to move the hub to the end of an extension ( now I understand the Adsl filter) and use an Ethernet cable to connect to the Sky box for on demand. droop romp or lag on Netflix from the Xbox.
A long post but I hope it will help the frustrated understand the papered problem can be fix and the team here can help, but patience is required.
Seasons Greetings to all the forum and especially the Moderators and Team.
ps. If you are going to correct my description of what happens when the exchange drops the speed don't be to techy, not all BT customerthrill understand.

It is a regular problem i am afraid and will only get worse the more wireless routers that come on line don't worry about the predictive text it winds me up as well

  • Any ideas, slow speed at peak, 3 engineer visits a...

So I switched to BT in July in order to get BT sports free and broadband half price (there is a recession remember lol)
Anyway I never had any speed issues with my old ISP and at the start of Nov my exchange was upgraded to ADSL2+, now at peak times and only peak times my speed drops to 1.5-3mbps, outwith peak times I get the full 18mbps.
I've had 3x engineer visits since mid-December and still the issue persists, they say the sync speed is fine but the through put is the issue. They test everything and then call the people they call (whoever these people are). The 2st guy said my SNR was at 3 when it should be 6 and got this reset but it wasn't done correctly, so when he came back today he called the "Boffins" as he calls them and got it changed, he asked them about the speed through put issue and the "Boffin" said I should be getting the full 18mbps. The only thing the Boffin could think of is that to get me taken off the BT Hotspot list as this could cause the issue....I don't see how as I stay in a small town but I've removed myself from the list on the Fon website.
The Tech helpline and Tier 2 support people as no good to man nor beasts and I've spoken to them on numerous occasions without success and also logged a complaint.
I do see hoe being removed from the hotspot list will resolve this issue but anyone got any ideas....as no one else does!!!

Once the Forum Mods have read your post they will post an invite here once you reply to them they will take personal ownership of the problem until resolved.
Do not send them a Personal Message as this is the incorrect contact method and cannot be properly tracked also the mod contacted may not be on shift for sometime and this will delay your help
The forum mods normally reply within 3/5 working days after you have contacted them
They will contact you personally by email or phone

  • New Contract -- Very Slow Speeds--900kbps

Hi Everyone, i am glad to find a community service like this.
I have been a BT Broadband customer since the start, BT has always been a good reliable service.  For approx two years I had the unlimited 8meg service that included a mobile phone.  BT Anywhere.  I phoned BT to cancel the mobile phone, during the call I was told i was paying too much for my service and if i signed up to Option 3 up to 20 meg BB i could save £20 I Did, I was promised no changes to my speed. This new contract started on the 31 Aug. No problems until last week.
On my old 8meg contract i could guarantee speeds of 2500-3000kbps during the day and 5000kbps after 12am. The last 5 days all I can get is 900kbps, at any time, trying multiple routers etc .... I am not sure if this change is tied into my contract.  I normally use a Netgear DG router which reports a downstream of 5000+.  To show stats and to test i am using my HomeHub.  Any suggestion/help what has caused the slow speed all of a sudden would be greatly appreciated.
I phoned Customer Service...and to be honest i did not get an answer just unplug this ..unplug that ..etc no changes. An engineer was booked for next month, not sure what they will do.
    Thanks

  • New To The Forum And Looking For Speed Help!

Hello, After trying to find information about my problem on the Internet and then speaking to the BT Indian Call Centre, I stumbled upon this forum. I am hoping, having looked at so many helpful comments and contributions, that I might be able to shed some light upon my connection speed issue. I have had a very pleasing and stable Internect connection speed of nearly 8Mb. However, I recently moved my router to the Master socket in the house which was better positioned to give a good WiFi signal throughout my house. However, when I have plugged in the router and booted it up, I can only connect at just over 4Mb regardless of what I try. I know I am at risk of sounding a touch ungrateful here because there are many more people with bigger problems than I but I would be very grateful for some advice / assisitance as to why my problem might have occurred and how I might regain my previous speed. Thank you in advance for any help! Cheers.

    welcome to the forum
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com or http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9354/c/346,4740,5520 and post the results .
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • K9N2 Sli Platinum + SSD OCZ Vertex 3 = Slow Speed Problem [PARTIALLY SOLVED]

    Hey folks,
I have a problem with my new SSD. I only get sequential reads of 140MB/s and writes of 114MB/s.
I think it is a driver related issue. I once got faster SATA2-like speeds but cannot reproduce the system settings again... Everything back to SATA1-like speeds after reboot.
    First my pc specs:
MSI K9N2 Sli Platinum, BIOS v3.9
    - 6 SATAII ports by nForce 750a SLI
    - 2 ESATA (External-SATA) ports (back panel) by JMB363
    - Supports storage and data transfers at up to 3 Gb/s
    AMD Phenom II 965 Black
    Patriot PV224G8500ELKB Viper II Series DDR2 4GB (2 x 2GB, CL5 PC-8500/1066MHz)
SSD SATAIII OCZ Vertex 3, 120GB, FW v2.11
    LG Internal BlueRay BH10LS30
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I only get very slow speeds with the SSD. I tried so many things that I am getting very frustrated now, I am even thinking about getting a new board and ram just to get the SSD up to speed...
    1)
I installed Win7 first with all the default settings in Windows Setup from DVD. Default "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" driver was "Standard AHCI1.0 Serial ATA Controller".
SSD was connected to SATA1-port,  On-Chip Sata Controller AHCI enabled in BIOS,  Extra RAID/IDE Controller disabled.
All fine, but whichever benchmark I used (AS SSD, HD Tune Pro, Atto Disk Benchmark, CrystalDiskMark; other tools used: DriveControllerInfo, AIDA64/Everest, CrystalDiskInfo ) I got e.g. 140MB/s Read and 114MB/s Write sequentially (CrystalDiskmark, similar with random data AND only zeros ).
Trim working (it seems) with AHCI driver. I also changed to nvstor64 driver (nforce driver setup 15.56), with is marginally faster but not what you would expect from a SATAIII drive on SATAII controller.
    2)
I installed Win7 using "diskpart" (Shift-F10) during disk setup, setting a cluster size of 64k instead of default. No real change.
    3)
After reinstall of Win7 x64 (again...), I changed from SATA1 port to SATA6 port, also enabled Extra Raid/IDE controller set to AHCI as well.
Nothing changed. With all settings to default in Windows (ahci default driver), I then manually updated the ahci to nvstore64 driver in Device Management, rebooted.
Then a minute later after reboot I got the following Sequential speeds with CrystalDiskMark:
273MB/s read and 137MB/s write (random data)  +  274MB/s read and 220MB/s write (with zeros) !!!
While I ran this benchmark Windows came up with a message: "You must restart your computer to apply these changes - Restart Now/Restart Later".
After the previos reboot, when I changed manually from AHCI to NVSTORE, I had changed nothing in the current session, apart from running CrystalDiskMark.
I did reboot and I was back to the slow SSD speeds again = 140/114 MB/s...
    4)
I have tried every possible combination of mainboard SATA ports, drivers changing with nvidia setup/manually, deleting and disabling controllers (incl BSOD and startup repair :D ), chaning bios settings around, but I just cannot get back the faster speeds
There is never any change in speed, whether I use ahci or nvstore64, whichever benchmark I use, whether random or zeros...
    5)
Could the SSD be broken, something internally preventing it from faster speeds (with this one random exception)?
Could it be that my K9N2 SataPorts only allows for / reduced to SATA1 speeds?
Am I missing something with the driver setup?
Do I need additional drivers for the extra JMicron Controller when using SataPorts 5/6 ?
I have no other mainboard to test this with...
Please guys, I am going to jump out of the window if I can't fix it... :(
    Thanks, Mike

    Hey guys - problem 'solved':
I tested the OCZ SSD Vertex 3 120GB with following sata3 controller card http://www.lycom.com.tw/PE-115H.htm.
The card itself works immediately (needs at least PCIe x4 slot, will work slower otherwise but still faster than the OCZ SSD @sata1 with nvidia chipset).
There is some raid setup, doesn't apply to me, the boot even with the card is really only a few seconds longer and not annoying at all. Windows (7 x64) needed a driver, supplied on CD (which is cheap and making noise like h**l). The card works w/o the driver but doesn't harm to install it...
Also, just to clarify, this sata controller card did not need any specific setup at all. Just put it in, plug in sata cable (I use akasa sata3-rated), maybe change boot device in BIOS (I didn't even have to), done - booting Windows as usual.
Benchmark CDM with sata controller card Lycom PE-115H:
    http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/3845/cdmpe115hahci0x00.png
    http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/7549/cdmpe115hahcirand.png
Speed is much better than before with nvidia chipset 750a SLI controller: sata1 (sata2 whenever it randomly worked):
    http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/505/cdmahci0x0.png
    http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/6258/cdmahci0x0sata6contnv64.png
    Final thoughts:
Well, I am happy with the SSD speed now (PCIe limited to 5Gbps). However, I had to spent quite some time to get it working on my sata2-cabable mainboard. Finally, I had to buy a extra controller card to get it working reliably at speeds faster than sata1. There is hardly any useful information on why this problem occurs with (older) nvidia chipsets and OCZ (sata3) SSDs. I still think that OCZ must know about this problem, but regards this issue as low priority, while at the same time not planning on giving up on sales to people with nvidia chipsets. Maybe OCZ should just make a big sticker on the box the drives come in with something like "Does/Might not work with nvidia chipsets, please use third-party sata controller card or different SSD manufacturer".   But then none of these potential customers would buy OCZ SSDs...
I will keep the sata3 controller, anyway handy to have, but return the OCZ Vertex 3 120GB and replace it with a SSD from a different manufacturer (Corsair Force GT, Patriot and OWC are not that great to get around here). The benchmarks for most people will not achieve the maximum advertised OCZ speeds anyway, so why not go with a brand that allows for some plug'n'play with some customer support.
Hope this post helps others like me with their nvidia chipset  + sata1 speed problem
    Cheers, Mike

  • OH. MY. GOD. (Need forum mod help)

Bad ping times are beginning to happen AGAIN. And like yesterday, it's almost at the same time: after 16:40. Now it's ranging between 200-340, I know that in upcoming hours it will be 340-600 or even higher. And this will continue till about 23:30. I won't do any raging anymore; there's no point. I won't ring BT India as well - they are as useless as talk to a brick wall.
Can someone please give me the contact details for forum mods as I heard they are very helpful. Cheers.

    Thanks.

I have a revision a imac g5 with the same problem with only macbreak podcast. I know leo laporte said that the podcast was done in 1080p and my computer with its built in 64 megabyte graphics card might have trouble with this podcast but your machine must have a better graphics card than mine. 1080p requires at least 128 megabytes of graphics memory built in. My machine played this podcast on quicktime fine until they came out with the update to quicktime last week or two ago. I was going to upgrade my memory until I came accross your story and your machines doing the same thing with much better specs. I think it might be the quicktime update that is causing a problem. Maybe Leo will talk about this problem since he is doing a mac show about macs.

The iPhone has a 1 year warranty. Restore the phone in iTunes with the latest iOS to remove the 'gray market'. You will then have to send it to your close friend, at your expense, to take it back to the Apple store in Toronto to have the phone looked at. Then your close friend will need to send the phone back to you, at your expense.
I would also sudggest that you send your friend a sim from your carrier in India. This way after it is fixed/replaced he can try the sim at the Apple store to ensure that it is unlocked.
    Good luck.

  • Slow speed/high SNR margin after upgrade to ADSL2+...

I have an issue with slow speed that I am suspecting is caused by a high SNR margin (about 12dB) which has come about (I believe) due to the fact that my router was repeatedly reset during the first few days of the upgraded service. The exchange was upgraded to ADSL2+ on 3rd January.
I have a US Robotics 9108 which has worked fine for nearly six years. I was getting around 8Mbps before the upgrade which isn't far off the theoretical maximum.
There was a problem with my router and I only found it to be my router at fault over the last few days. Upgrading its firmware has cured the problem which was that requests weren't being fulfilled once connection had been established, (seemingly particularly when this was ADSL2+ or ADSL2 mode). Consequently, I reset my router in these instances and I believe that this will have been interpretted by the exchange as being due to line noise. In general, I disabled ADSL2 and 2+ modes on my router to force it back to G.DMT and it usually worked fine (albeit slow sync rate relative to that I had before 3rd January).
During fault conditions, the connection synced OK. I recently borrowed a router and tried it and it immediately connected faster than mine had done previously and I could access the web without issue. This confirmed that my US Robotics was at fault, and after downloading its latest firmware, it fixed the problem.
There is no bell wire as there are no hard wired extensions from the master socket. I use a single filter which plugs directly into the master socket (i.e. no extension lead to the filter).
I was using a BT filter (MF50) I got in 2004 when I first got broadband. This came with a Voyager 100 modem and is a rebranded YCL one. I have since replaced this with a Z350-UK which I have borrowed. The US Robotics didn't come with any filters.
With the BT filter, caller display does not work at all when the router is connected in ADSL2 mode. In G.DMT mode the problem with caller display was intermittent. The Z350-UK has rectified the problem with caller display not working when in ADSL2 mode. I have ordered a Pressac Interstitial VDSL Faceplate as a perminant solution.
Do I need to contact the support helpline to get this fixed? Or will the SNR margin drop over time? As I say, I got around 8Mbps before the upgrade.
I am presently connected in 2+ mode and stats are:
    SNR margin (dB):
    12.8
    5.4

  • Slow speeds - Also very bad customer service so fa...

    Hey
Basically I was with plusnet, we had good download speeds, not the best but decent for my area - Perivale.

Around June time we had road works, electric company updating the lines under the road, we lost internet connection for 2 days before it came back on.

We lost alot of speed, I started tech support with plusnet who after a week, found out there was a fault with the line and was gonna get BT to look into this.
But midway, we decided to change providers to BT, since our phone line is through BT, easier to have everything under 1 roof as they say.
Having spoken to the Sales agent, and agreeing the migration, I was forwarded to tech support in the UK where I told him about the problems so they was aware of this before we moved.
After speaking to him, it was agreed that after migration, I would wait
1 month, for the line to stable, before any support can begin. Which is fair enough.
Month later, speeds didn’t improve, my speed was ranging from 2.2-3mb, 2mb short from the download speed I was getting.
13th August - I rang support in India, followed his instructions, changed modems, splitter, etc. Then he told me to take the faceplate out and put the modem in the test socket, which I followed. I did mention the road words, and that’s when the problem started, but he was convinced it was a problem with my end. And said he will ring me back after 2 days.
15th - the received the phone call back - According to him, the line was stronger. But I mentioned to him there was no speed increase, it was still slower. Tried different modems, listened to his excuses and having to listen to him explain how a broadband works (btw im a computer engineer, so I already know), I just indulged him" I just said, what ever makes you happy, lets do it. I know what the problem is, just do your checks and get it sorted". So we decided to leave the modem in the test plate for another 4 days.
19th - I received another call, asking me to do a speed test, the speeds came back the same. After 30 mins going though the same checks, I was told I will get a phone call back in 2 days time.
21st - I got a call from a level 2 tech - saying my IP profile is low, it will be reset but will take 4-5 days to settle, leave the modem on, etc. I still explained the problem first occurred when we had road works and digging near the cabinet. But nope, they are determined it’s my internal fault. So I followed more instructions. My modem is untouched, in the test socket, and 4 days into the profile reset, no difference. Well upload speed has gone down lol.
Tomorrow I will ring them, and let’s see what happens. I am at a point where, I am regretting moving to BT. plusnet support was really good uk based. But I have faith this will get solved.
    Oh ye also
23rd around 16:31 - I got a phone call from a lady from India, pretending to be BT. She knew I had speed issues and a BT line, and customer services had contacted me. When she said "Sir, your computer is sending out viruses and has caused damage to some servers. I require a small payment and wanted me to open a link she emails me so she can access my computer to fix it"
I smelled a scam, I told her, that I was tracing the call, that I was an engineer and im going to contact the police, where she hung up immediately.
However that made me wonder, how did she know I was having a Speed problem, that I was in contact with BT and I had a BT broadband?
    Speedtest done today
Download speedachieved during the test was - 2.98 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 3.08 Mbps
    Anyways
Any suggestions how my line can be sorted, much appreciated.
I shall keep you informed, as I will get another call from the tech support tomorrow.
    Cheers
    Hiren
P.S - most roads in my area already has infinity, but not my road, which is annoying as hell. I can walk from my door, 2 min walk and that house has infinity lol

do you have a hh4?  if so can you go to hub manager then troubleshooting then logs and when router conencted to internet you will see the noise margin and connection speed - can you post please
if not HH4 can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) .
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • Slow speed with non BT modem/routers

    Hello,
For several years I have had a BT broadband ADSL line to my rural property. My normal speed is between 1.5 and 2.2mbps. The maximum speed ever seen was about 2.5mbps and my IP profile is set at 2.4.
I recently decided to replace my ageing BT home hub 2 in the hope that a more modern router might get a little more speed out of the line. I started with a Netgear DGND3300. This worked fine but only produced 1.5mbps and a noticeably slower service. I contacted both BT and Netgear. BT told me there was a fault on the line, so I connected the router to the test socket with a filter and left it two days. Speeds stayed the same. BT tell me my line is now fine but frankly there has been no change to speeds.
After altering the MTU to 1458 and power output to 300mbps at 2.4Ghz nothing altered the fact that the BT hub delivers a little over 2 and the Netgear 1.5 at best.
Netgear have finally told me to exchange the unit as faulty which I did yesterday and replaced it with a Linksys X2000. The results are exactly the same. 2+ on the BT hub but even worse on the Lynksys at 1.4. This was measured at different times of day and on three computers and an iPhone with all of them showing near identical results in different parts of the house.
I have given up on the BT support centre as all I get is an asian service telling me to start again with the test socket so they can tick off their checklists and I waste 10p a minute! Apart from SNR difference this seems like a product issue and I'd like to know why my BT hub delivers a better speed than more expensive units. I don't mind living with it as I only need a wirelesss surfing network with light file transfer duties, but what happens when it finally dies of old age?
The one thing I am intrigued about is the fact that when I use the BT test page with the BT hub my maximum speed is marked at 4mbps but with both the Lynksys and the Netgear it is marked as 2mbps.
Is there any way I can get a new router to replicate the speed of my current hub? Would buying a HH3 be the answer? However since I am already out over £100 I do not wish to purchase yet more redundant harware.
    Any help appreciated.

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) bt speedtester and post the results .
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
if you have a long line the bt business router 2700hgv is recommended by many on the forum

  • Slow speeds. Apparently I don't have a bt broadban...

After using bt's own e-form to email them about my long running loss of speed over the year from 2.6mb for the last say 10 years, to 1.6mb (1.4mb at its lowest) download / 0.36 up. ping latency around 0.38 i think, apart from today where its 42.25!! what's that?!
All I've got back so far is:
"Recently you requested personal assistance from our on-line support centre. Below is a summary of your request and our response.
If this issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may reopen it within the next 14 days.
Thank you for allowing us to be of service to you. " ....and....
"This is in regards to the e-mail you have send on 20th August 2014. We are sorry to inform you that there is no sufficient information in the e-mail to pull up any active broadband account. We would request you to provide the details of your broadband account so that we can pull up the account and help you further."
Just to be clear, their OWN e-form didn't have enough information for them to find my account??? It asks for my name, address, phone number my broadband is on, email address, my account number (assume its the BT account as that's all I have), plus the problem. What else can I type in if there's no other fields.
So I submitted the form. A couple of days later I got an email back with the above included in it.
    1. Why automatically close the call? They hadn't resolved anything, so why close it? The only other thing they mentioned was going onto their Help pages (durr how did i manage to use their e-form in the first place?).
    2. No mention of what these missing "details" are. (On purpose?)
So I replied and being a little annoyed at their poor response,  which just sounds like "yep dealt with that call within the response time target I got to make".
I've had BT broadband since its inception, even before, but they cannot find my account? Amazing they can bill me each quarter without any problems. So I sent my bt account number again even thought it was included in the e-form. Asked them clearly to tell me what "details" of my broadband account they need from me. More than happy to oblige. Oh, and no I'm not satisfied with their resolution and re-open the call!!
So some more days have now passed and guess what. I get an email with the exact same text!!
I replied. In CAPITAL LETTERS for the hard of hearing. What specific details do you want from me?
    I wait in baited breath.
OMG I haven't even got onto the problem of the slow speed issue yet!
I guess they want me to phone (premium 0800 number?), or do something myself. I don't want to phone them as I've experienced the same ol' routine before, life's too short. I've paid the top price for ever, so I would think they could do some of the leg work eh? I mean part of the cost is the support they provide, right? How do you lose a broadband account?
It niggles me is that I pay same price infinity customers do and I'm still stuck in the dial-up speed ages. And don't get me on about those tv ads. Like everyone can get infinity. Yeah I'm still waiting after 5 years that it was coming. Amazing the Isles of Scilly with about 10 people living on there manage to get it quicker than me living in a town in the middle of the UK. I digress...
If I can do a speed test from both their bt.com site and btwholesale speed test and get a poor speed (approx 1.8 max) from exchange to router then I know by the time it gets to my pc its not going to be 2.6 is it.
PS i don't have a master socket/test socket to try. its the old type. And why has the speed just dropped and kept down (like for so many others in this forum), where nothing has changed, at least at the customers end of the line.
I don't expect someone in the forum to come up with the solution, but its more of a rant on my part at the poor response to my request, let alone some kind of investigation into the problem itself.
I work in "IT" and part of it is dealing with calls from customers. If I had dealt with a call like BT had then I'd be getting a ear bashing from my manager.

  • Slow Speeds ages to sort and I'm down 4 days holid...

    Hi,
First time I've posted on a forum.
I've had real trouble from the start with BT, ordered Infinity in November 2012, but wasn't installed until December, with me having to take 2 separate days holiday as the first engineer could only fit the the phone line, and the second had to install the broadband.   January 2013 after a few teething problems the BT infinity was excellent 75mb download and 19MB upload........Then I used the phone, that's when problems started, and to cut a very long story short, and after 4 visits by engineers, again me having to use my holiday days and unpaid days it was sorted, but I had a whole month where the speed was half what it was supposed to be, with BT customer service telling me how to do speed tests etc etc, fobbing me off.  Bearing in mind that they only sorted me out when I cancelled my direct debit, as I wasn't going to pay for a service I wasn't getting.
I emailed BT on 12th July and 15th July (130712-001629 and 130715-007822) no response.   Today I contacted them through the online chat, and was cut off not by one but by 3 representatives before they could even help me or me advise the problem.  Rudradeep Saha, Mruntunjoy, Junaid, and then finally MD Shahnawaz Akhtar who told me he couldn't help me online.
My main thing is this, yes the BT infinity speed is now perfect, no problem, but I requested that at the very least a month's payment be credited for all the trouble and MY time I have wasted due to a fault that isn't mine.
I've cancelled the Direct Debit and this should speed up contacting me, as it seems to be the only way for BT to actually do something for me.

cancelling a direct debit will only lead to one thing suspension of service and it eventual cancellation of service
I suggest you contact the forum mods they should be able to get this problem sorted for you this is a link to them http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951

  • Slow speeds: moving phone charger fixed it for me

I had a problem of my airport slowing down to 150kbits. I found it was due to plugging in my phone charger right next to the airport express. Removed it and everything was fine.

welcome to the BT community forum where you probably read is where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
if you want to complain about the cost of the work then try online chat

if you would like some assistance from the forum with your conenction speed then please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) bt speedtester and post the results .
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
