Help, crash during Muvo TX FM firmware upgr
Hi,
While upgrading (have upgraded with no issue twice in the past) my muvo to the latest firmware, the installation was interrupted.
Now my Muvo is neither recognized by my PC (Win2K) nor does it boot (the LCD stays dark) in its sleeve even with a brand new battery. Is there a way I can recover my device

Did I miss something?
Last time I checked there were plenty of complains about the 0-25 scale in this forum.

I just tried to update my iPod Shuffle. I ran iPod Updater, it said "Update needed" and I clicked update button. In the middle of the update, Windows crashed and the iPod seems to be dead now. It isn't recognized by Windows anymore and iPod updater just says "Plug in the iPod for update" and when I plug it in, nothing happens. Even when I press the battery button, nothing happens (and I'm sure the battery isn't empty becasue before the incident, when I pressed the battery button, it was showing green). I tried everything: reseting the iPod, restarting computer, reinstalling software and nothing is helping.
I suspect that the firmware of the device got fried during the update procedure (since the update was aborted halfway because of crash). Is there any way to revive the device (reflashing the firmware somehow) than taking it to service?

Laptop Crashed During Maverick Install -- Need Help
Hello Everyone,
Before we get started, I just want to open with this info: My Macbook Pro is from 2008, and has a notorious habit of crashing... I hear what sounds like a rhythmic "ticking" sound from within the laptop, and everything on screen freezes up, and I have to do a hard-reboot. Other than that and a few graphical glitches with games, it runs seamlessly and had a good 19 GB free while attempting the update. Also to note, I have a BootCamp partition of about 30 GB for Windows XP. Additionally, I was an IDIOT and did NOT set up Time Machine or make a backup for my files, because, I repeat, I'm an IDIOT apparently.
So I had 10.6.8 installed -- Snow Leopard... and I heard there was a new free update to 10.8.0: Maverick. Of course it peaked my interest and I tried to install, not realizing it could potentially brick my laptop! Shoulda done some research
Anyway, here's what happened:
The download was successful, so I rebooted my computer and initialized the installation. Everything was fine, it said it would take about 50 minutes (even though it took a LOT longer)... and the install got not even half way before my computer crashed, with the infamous ticking sound. I was like, "oh sh**" because everyone knows that a crash during a major install is not good news. After I restarted the computer, it opened up the Maverick install again immediately, and attempted to retry... but within 10 minutes, an error pops up: "Install failed: OS X can’t be installed on the disk, because a recovery system can’t be created. Visit www.apple.com/support/no-recovery to learn more."
Of course at this point, I'm confused. I have no idea what that means. So I try to reboot to see if it would help, and the same error occured twice more.
This time, when I rebooted, I held Alt-Option to see if I could just select my HD drive and bypass the install. Nope. The only options were this: "Windows Partition, Maverick OSX Install, recovery-(something something)"... my HD drive wasn't even listed! This made me nervous. So, I selected the recovery disk option and it opened a menu with a few options, including reinstalling OSX, disk utility... etc. So I selected disk utility. I then proceeded to select my HD drive, and click "repair" in the first aid tab. It took about 10-15 minutes, but it successfully finished, giving me a green "Disk seems ok" message. This was a bit of relief. But now that the disk is repaired, how do I access it and exit the endless loop of Maverick installation? Do I need to reinstall OSX with my original disk/Snow Leopard disk?
Please help me recover my HD drive... I desperately need my laptop for school.
Thanks in advance. If you need any more additional info on my computer, I will be happy to try and provide it.if you have no install disk, best to do fsck. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214 hopefully that will do something for you. when you say it "freezes" at startup it is hard to know what to tell you. there are different types of screens that occur with startup issues. this is an incredible article for startup issues--http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106464. do not worry that it says "10.3.9 or earlier". these steps are reliable for tiger as well. i hope that works for you.[:)]

Itunes crashed during backup and I can't get help from apple support on the
website.
Stupid Itunes crashed on disk 41 of 46 when backing up.
There is no help available on the apple website and no way to request help on the apple website for any issue with Itunes.
How do I fix this problem?
How do I tell Itunes which disks it backup up so it won't try backing them up all over again. Did it destroy a list of what was backed up? What's going on with itunes anyways? Does it always crash when it backs up this many cds? I don't want to start all over again and ruin another 41 CDR disks trying to back it up. How do I get it to continue from where it crashed or do whatever has to be done to get it to resume where it crashed during backup?
Stupid program wouldn't let me do anything after it crashed. said it will take a minute or two (more like forever) to cancel backup. Don't even know why it was trying to cancel the backup. I didn't tell it to.Apparently there are some bugs in the latest itunes. DO NOT USE ITUNES TO BACKUP YOUR LIBRARY! UNLESS IT COMPLETES THE BACKUP, ITUNES IS NOT SMART ENOUGH TO FIGURE OUT WHICH FILES WERE BACKED UP. TECH SUPPORT DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO MAKE ITUNES KNOW WHAT FILES WERE BACKED UP SO IT CAN CONTINUE FROM WHERE IT LEFT OFF. AFTER 41 CDS WORTH OF BACKUPS, ITUNES CRASHED AND IT TRIED TO CANCEL THE BACKUP BUT NEVER FINISHED DOING THAT.
SO AFTER 60 CDS WORTH AND ABOUT 6 HOURS OF WASTED TIME, THE ONLY WAY IS TO BACKUP THE ENTIRE LIBRARY ALL OVER AGAIN WHICH IS A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY, TIME, AND CDS WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL WORK ANY BETTER THE SECOND TIME AROUND.
EVEN TRYING TO RESTORE FROM CDS DOESN'T TELL ITUNES TO UPDATE ITS LIST OF BACKED UP FILES. I'M SURPRISED THAT SUCH A BIG BLUNDER WITH ITUNES HAS GONE UNNOTICED.
ITS A SERIOUS ENOUGH ISSUE THAT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. I BACKED UP MY ITUNES TO HD AND THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS SO OBVIOUSLY ITS AN ITUNES ISSUE.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, ITS A VERY ANNOYING PROBLEM TO PUT SO MUCH TIME AND EFFORT INTO GETTING NOWHERE. -
Crashing during Exporting - I tried to export my sequence containing several clips both in Premier and AME and it keeps crashing - Help Pls.
Thanks for your reply John.
My Premiere Pro is CS5.5 on Windows OS with all the recent updates installed.
My source footage is H.264 in a .mov/QuickTime format.
There were no error message(s) before the crashing. The computer just crashes after a few minutes of exporting. My output codec is also H.264 in a QuickTime movie format.
No other software is running at the time. Also, no third party codecs have been installed.
I'm not sure what type of engine I use. Kindly direct me to where I can find this information.
The problem has only happened with my final output.
Thanks Again.

Help: MuVo² 5 GB firmware error and connection proble
Thanks in advance to everybody reading this. I've searched through the forums for two hours and have not found a solution.
When started, my girlfriend's Muvo? 5 GB player only shows "firmware error" and switches to recovery mode. So I tried "Scan Disk", "Clean Up", "Format All" rebooting between each step. Nothing changed, so I downloaded the firmware "Creative MuVo? FM Firmware version .00.02". I could not find the exact firmware for the 5 GB player and read in the forum, that this version should work. When I chose "Reload Firmware" and attached the player via USB after I had been told to do so, my computer recognized the player. However when I tried to run the .exe file the setup told me "Your player is not connected, please connect your player."
I've tried it on four different computers and the same message keeps popping up. I'd be really grateful if anybody could help me out on this one. Thanks in advance.luis bustamante-
Greetings and welcome.
Pull out both of those cards and see if you can boot.
It is most likely one of them or an externally connected peripheral.

Hey everyone,
I am in some serious need of some help. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I have been using iWeb for about 5 months now and have never had any problems uploading to Mobileme. Just recently, after creating an elaborate website for my Miami HEAT clientele, iWeb has been crashing during my publish to Mobileme through the iWeb application. Through reading some different discussions, I have figured out that my domain file under the Application Support folder is corrupted. I know this because when I drag that domain (with all my website content) to the desktop and re-start iWeb, a new domain is created and successfully publishes. I am now in need of figuring out how to copy all my website content from my old corrupted domain to this new freshly made one....the bottom line; I would like to avoid having to re-create my entire website from scratch on this new domain...Roddy mentioned being able to copy and paste, but after exploring some I have not been able to figure out how to do this.
I also tried to upload to a folder and then dragging all the files to Cyberduck, but it takes ALL DAY to do and never completes uploading...
I don't want to pay $50 for the 30 day Applecare for phone tech support to only hear that I will inevitably have to re-create my entire site...
Can anyone help? I have clientele that have been hassling me to get their pictures online...please help. The posters here are right. Cutting and pasting may take a bit of time if you have a lot of pages (as I did a year ago) but it's better than rewriting code or retyping pages. As of '08 Apple didn't have any server backup capability of published iweb sites, so it is up to the user to do it.
I have four sequential backups of my Domain file. I backup to 2 locations each day, that way if a batch goes bad, I only lose a day's work at most; in addition, the chances of 2 backups and the original going bad at one time are remote.
Just last week my Domain file became corrupted. Just wouldn't publish and received an error message. In 10 seconds I clicked on a recent backup and it worked fine. Go figure?! So I dragged the main bad Domain file to the trash, dragged the working copy from the external hard drive to the Library, and voila...back in business.
The message is backup, backup, backup, especially when your business web site is at stake. -
Help! FCP crashes during H.264 export!
Hi All,
I am using Final Cut Pro 6 and need to create a Quicktime movie file that is under 2 GB in size. The film is 2h 3m. The frame size should be 480x270 and 24fps. I am using H.264 as my compressor. To accomplish this, I am exporting from FCP using “Export with Quicktime Conversion”. I don’t know a whole lot about compression, so I have pretty much been experimenting. First I exported using the Bitrate setting as Automatic, but the file was over 5 GB. I then set the bitrate to restrict to 750kbps and the resulting file was 660 MB. However, I wanted to push it to right under 2 GB, for the best possible quality. I tried again with the bitrate restricted to 2000kbps. However, it takes so long to render on my computer (a few days each time), and happened to lose power during this render. So, since then, I have tried various times with these same settings, and every time FCP “Quits Unexpectedly.”
Since then I have tried various things to try to isolate the issue and determine what the problem is:
I have deleted all old render files, reset permissions and trashed preferences, and still FCP crashes during export.
I tried exporting a different piece of footage (30 second clip) with the same settings and it works great.
After breaking apart, rendering, seeing if it crashes, cutting that in half, rendering that, seeing if it crashes, etc., I've determined that the problem is happening in the last 15 minutes of the film.
I've been rendering with these attributes:
Compressor: H.264
480 x 270
2000kbps bitrate
AAC audio
I took that section of the film that was crashing on render and rendered just the audio and it worked fine. Then I rendered just the video and it crashes, so I've determined it is the video.
I tried rendering at a different bitrate with the H.264 codec and it still crashed during render again.
I also just rendered with two different other video compressors: ProRes 422 HQ and HDV 1080p24 and both rendered that section of the film fine.
This would leave me to believe that it is the H.264 codec at that one section of film crashing. Any idea why this might be, or how I can fix it?
Here are my conclusions:
-It occurs in the last 15min of the film
-Only occurs to video, not audio
-Only to H.264 codec
-Doesn't matter what the bitrate is at
-Deleting old render files doesn't fix it
-Trashing Prefs and resetting permissions doesn't fix it
-First noticed it after I tried rendering after my previous got killed due to a power loss in the house
If anyone has any input, I would greatly appreciate it! I have been dealing with this for weeks now and can't discover the problem. I am on my knees praying and begging because this whole film is caught up with this. I appreciate all and any suggestions! Thank you in advance and have a great day! Thanks for the response!
I took the last 15 minutes, broke that into two 7-8 minute sections. Tried both and both crashed. Then took the first of those two sections (which I call 15/16 since it is the 15th section if the film is broken into 16 equal pieces) and cut that in half, so it was about 4 minutes long, and that crashed as well. The way the film was made is each scene is it's own sequence, and I then have all those into one full sequence (I'll reference that as TMUG-completed). That one sequence is then another sequence (TMUG-condensed), so I can then bump up all audio at once.
I have taken the sequence TMUG-completed, copied it, and pasted that into a new timeline, and rendered, but still got the crash. And all the render files have been removed as deep as they can go, going back to the individual scene render files.
Since each scene is it's own sequence, I can see that the problem is happening over multiple scenes. -
Help! Logic X 10.0.7 crashing during bounces and randomly!
I have just bought Logic X Pro (Version 10.0.7) with NI Komplete 9.
It worked fine for a day until it started to crash during bounces and occasionally when i'm working.
I have downloaded all the recent updates for Komplete but can't seem to find out why it's crashing!
It's a new Macbook Pro 13" so shouldn't be the computer!
Would appreciate any advice on this matter...Here's the crash report:

Help!10.4.9 crashed during installation
My g4 crashed during the last part of the update. I now have an incomplete installation that would not start up. I lost 10.4.8. I installed 10.4 on my second internal hard drive, so I coud run my mac. How do I get back to using my original drive without losing any info/settings?
G4 Mac OS X (10.4.8) Lost 10.4.8Hi! Same thing has happened to me. As my next step, I want to start using the installation disc, but the drawer to my optical drive won't open. Do you know how to get around that?
Thank you for your consideration.
PFW
That happened to me on my MacBook... I'll try giving
you directions, to the best of what I remember...
What I did is found my installation DVDs... (I
thought I had lost them!)
Turn your computer on and put the first disc in.
...Restart it (improperly, if you have to). Before
you turn it back on, hold down on the "C" button...
it took me about 5 minutes before I saw anything
happen. Go through the buttons as if you were
re-installing it...
At the end, there's a window you should see pop up
and it'll have a few things to check off... one of
them is reinstalling OSX without wiping out what
you've put on the computer.
Best of luck. -
Someone PLEASE help me! I cant figure out what is going on with my computer. I don't install anything weird, but my brother does. He's very good at computer tech stuff and is in I.T, but I cant help but blame him for all the problems my Mac is having. Nothing works like it should. My safari will randomally crash, my screen will randomally turn back, my iphoto will crash during uploading from my iPhone, I cant highlight anything, I can't drag anything. When I want to click on something, I have to click over and over again just for it to even register. I know everything is up to date and recently reset my PRAM. I'm running Lion and have a lot of room on my hardrive. I have an external harddrive and I'm wondering if I should just move all of my important files over to it and completly wipe out my computer's hardrive and start from scratch.
Some folks can't leave well enough alone, and insist on downloading all sorts of additional "stuff" that ends up making their Mac unstable.
Standard Mac OS X on properly-operating Hardware does not crash, unless you start installing too many add-ons.
You can run "just the basics" by holding down the Shift key at Startup. This does one pass of Disk Repair, then loads a minimal set of extensions, and comes up in Safe Mode. If it works OK that way, but crashes in "regular", it's the add-ons.
There ia another layer of add-on junk that can be added to Safari. If the only remaining problem is Safari crashing, those add-ons can be disabled as well. -
I have continuously over the last 6 months struggled with syncing my iphone and ipod with itunes The app continually crashes during the picture import. AND by the way it takes 10-15 minutes before it even attempts to import photos. The screen says importing photoes but doesnt try to optimize or anything for 10 minutes. I have a 3gs with 16Gb so its not a cheap phone. I have 10Gb free. I have 6600 photoes. This is very frustrating and undermines my confidence in your products. My ipod is an ipod 4 with 16Gb also. It does the exact same thing to it. The last time, I had to import photoes a few at the time and with it taking 10-15 minutes each time for 6600 photos it is a long frustrating process. But it will import every photo a few at a time. The error message is just that itunes has stopped working. no hint as to why. AND of course, my phone is out of use for the entire time. You guys must not want to believe ur phones are a necessary tool...or maybe you dont want the consumer to believe it is. I have tried to find solutions on your website as well as through other 3rd party communities. Ultimately they were of no use. I stumbled onto my solution by accident since Im a bit of a computer geek...a semi-geek.
I have this issue too, I went into my Windows event viewer. (should have looked at this a year ago when this started)
it said this
Faulting application name: iTunes.exe, version: 11.0.2.26, time stamp: 0x51253247

basically whenever I try to sync my ipod touch 4G 64GB it crashes iTunes when it begins the pictures. if im lucky ill get 4-5 on there before it stops responding. its not my system or anything im running win7x64 8GB DDR3 ram (Corsair XMS3) AMD FX Eight core processor.
It is silly that iTunes cannot add pictures to apple devices. it shatters whatever incline I may have to buy apple products. knda like the Airport Extreem router my dad bought the new firmware, caused my router to not function... why release firmware that breaks a product. -_- <-- off topic but still -
CS5 apps crash during launch in XP
Hi,
I just bought and installed CS5 Design Premium and can't get it to work, including Photoshop. Most of the apps crash. They crash during launch (splash screen) and therefore never get going. Each app seems to display different error messages. One common denominator seems to be something relating to scripting (not sure what that implies - plug-ins?). The only CS5 apps that don't crash are Bridge and Media Encoder.
Upgrading to 12.01 didn't help. I tried rebooting, uninstalling and re-installing. I ran a system scan with Windows Defender and no malicious software was detected. I run a very clean system so no unusual programs running in the background and what little I do run in the background, I exited from. I hadn't run a previous version of Photoshop (or any other program in CS5) so there were no Photoshop plug-ins to uninstall.
I do have Lightroom 3 installed (huge image database), which I have not yet uninstalled (far from trivial IMHO). Lightroom does have three plug-ins (all disabled) which are the Canon and Nikon Tether Plug-ins and a Flickr plug-in. I don't know how to uninstall these or whether it would affect CS5.
As an example, when I launch Photoshop, I get the following error:
AppName: photoshop.exe AppVer: 12.0.1.0 ModName: scriptingsupport.8li ModVer: 10.0.0.0 Offset: 000d183a
InDesign fails as it says "updating Panels" and I get:
AppName: indesign.exe AppVer: 7.0.0.355 ModName: support for javascript.rpln
ModVer: 7.0.0.355 Offset: 00036183
System Specs:
3.4GHz P4, 4GB PC6400, 1.5TB SATA, Nvidia GeForce 6600 PCIe, Asus P5WD2-e Motherboard, XP Pro SP2
I run Flash 10.1.53.64 and Quicktime 7.6.6, Java 6.0.2
When I launch Illustrator, it used to crash hard but now it stops while loading (Initializing Plug-ins, PDFFormat.aip) and displays a custom error dialog saying "Error loading plugins. AISaveForWeb.aip DxfDwg.aip PGNFileFormat.aip. Eventually it launches, apparently functional (haven't tested it).
Any help appreciated, thanks!Corporate users are often very conservative, as many needs must be met before a new system can be rolled-out. The reasons for being so conservative are rooted in good business, and in many cases are quite justifiable.
I have a friend who works IT at a railroad company, and he regularly has to support Windows 2000 machines amongst the majority of their systems, which are XP. He tells me what he and a whole team of people struggle with every day. I've been there. I administered systems for entire Engineering departments myself. One of the things I ALWAYS made time for, however, was breaking in new systems and getting to know them. As a result, our people always had near state-of-the-art systems to work with. It was even a selling point when our managers interviewed someone sharp who they were trying to get to accept an offer: Our work environment was second to none.
In recent times we are starting to see why staying with an ancient operating system instead of "biting the bullet" and moving up to modern technology is proving to be more and more expensive.
Brushing aside Vista - for a while - might have been justifiable, but...
Hours and hours to make something work on XP? New roll-outs of XP systems? In 2010? Are you kidding?
All that time being wasted to get old things working could and should be spent on embracing the new, and figuring out how to make it sing on key. People have now gone before you and can authoritatively state that Windows 7 can be made to work. A darned sight better than its predecessors in many ways!
Time is money.
