Help this noobie with his K8N Neo2 Please!!

Well uhh, I tried booting up the computer I built, but the monitor won't turn on. I tried resetting the CMOS header, all the way to the bare system. My PSU used to be the Thermatake Purepower 480w, but it died on me, so I had to get the Aspire 500w PSU instead. You think that will fix the problem? Because the TT PSU had 18 amps, while now aspire is going to give off 34 amps.

Now I did a check on it, and it says I need a maximum of 346 watts (PSU calculator thing). Do you think it will turn my monitor on and make it work?

I looked around, and found one topic similar, but it doesn't help...

It should power it up easily if it gives 34A on the +12v rail. Let us know what happens, I can't see any obvious problems with the kit you've listed

Help a noob with his first mac

Ok, first let me say hello as this is my first post on this forum. second, let me state my problem.
I recently bought a G3 from a computer group at my college. I currently have it hooked up and am trying to get it to boot from an ubuntu disk (is positive it is the right version) because its free and i'm a poor college kid. however, rather than booting, at startup all i get is a gray screen with a folder in the center with an alternating picasso face and question mark. i've been told it's a broken hard drive stopping it from booting and reading the disk and i've been told that the hard drive shouldnt matter and it should boot anyway. Can anyone please help me with this? i have about 24 hours before my monitor gets taken and i cant mess with it anymore (borrowed it). thanks a bunch.

You get the blinking question mark when your Mac cannot find:
The preferred software type
in the preferred version
on the preferred Startup Disk
All of these parameters are stored in parameter RAM (PRAM) and maintained across power outages caused by blackouts OR moving OR maintenance by a 3.6 Volt battery half the length of AA battery located on the motherboard.
To reset the parameters to their factory defaults, open the side door (there is no interlock switch) find the tiny button flat on the board nearest the battery, press and hold for a quarter minute, wait at least five seconds more, then try to start normally. Avoid momentary presses.
You should seriously consider replacing this battery, and until you do, every time power is interrupted -- including the time when you actually replace the battery -- you will have to perform this little ceremony.
To boot from a CD -- provided it is in fact a bootable Mac CD -- hold down the c key immediately at startup. Many Ubuntu users have discovered what they though was a bootable Mac CD turned out to be a perfectly good installer, but was not Mac bootable.

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Very serious issue with MSI K8N Neo2-FX: need urgent help!

Hi! I am facing the following problems:
1. 3D Mark 05 demo, COD2 single player and Half Life 2 become semi-frozen.
2. The audio loops, and audio & video go out of sync.
3.VPU Recover/Infinite loop issue DOES NOT kick in.
4. The semi frozen game responds poorly to mouse movement.
Note: All redundant processes and programs in Windows XP are closed. My system specs:

Thanks for your help. I am trying to locate Corsair dealers in Kolkata(My hometown). Are there any known issues with the K8N Neo 2 FX? I bought this motherboard just a few days back and I am facing so many problems.
Does this motherboard undervolt the AGP and RAM slots? Will I have to increase AGP and DDR voltage to make my system stable? Doesn't the raising of these voltages shorten the life of the video card and ram modules? I want to buy Corsair/OCZ/Mushkin. But in case it's unavailable, will Kingston RAM lead to an unstable system?

I want to know if the drivers which I get with the mainboard CD are also for Windows 2003 Enterprise Server? And if there is something alse that I need to know when using this mainboard with Windows 2003 Enterprise Server?

The CD - supplied drivers will work...some folks are running the BETA version of Windows64 and Server 2003 with them...when available, I don't see why they cannot also be updated!!!

Reboot problem with MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and 250 GB SATA HDD

I'm having a "reboot" problem with my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. After turning my system on it will run without any problems, until I reboot. After a reboot it will always hang after the initial windows-bootscreen. The HDD-light will remain on. If, instead of going into Windows XP SP2, I try to enter the BIOS after a reboot (DEL) the system will also hang (blank screen with blinking cursor).
It started doing this after I installed the Maxtor 250 GB SATA disk. Before, I didn't have problems rebooting. If I disconnect the Maxtor drive I can reboot and enter BIOS and Windows each and every time. Reconnecting the Maxtor 250 GB SATA drive will return the reboot problem. I always have to use the power swith to get a working system again. It's not enough to do a hard reset (this has the same effect as rebooting).
Here are the details of my system:
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (BIOS 1.B)
Athlon 64 3200+ (Winchester, 2 Ghz, 512 KB cache, stepping DH-D0)
2 x Kingston KVR400X64C25/512, 512 MB, DDR, PC3200 (2,5-3-3-8 T1)
Asus Radeon AX800 Pro (256 MB)
PSU Antec Sonata 380W
HDD Maxtor 80Gb ATA (6Y080P0, Pri Master)
HDD Seagate 250Gb SATA (ST3200822AS)
HDD Maxtor 250Gb SATA (6V250F0 - jumpered in SATA150 mode, the mobo wouldn't work with the drive in SATA300-mode)

P.S. The NVidia IDE-drivers are NOT installed. System is not overclocked.

Thank you for all the replies. Upgrading to the latest Nvidia IDE-drivers did not fix my problem. Moving to other SATA-ports did not help either. Upgrading the mobo's BIOS is not really an option (I'm using one version before the most recent and there isn't anything in the fixlist of the latest BIOS).
Now I've contacted Maxtor for (hopefully) a new firmware.

PS2 mouse with MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum

Me and my uncle both have MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum motherboards and both boards were bought from different places at different times. Both boards are exactly the same and both have the latest 1.4 BIOS.
We're both having the same problem with ps2 mice, I myself am not bothered about this problem but my uncle is so I need help.
Basically when you insert a ps2 mouse into the back of both our pcs, 7 times out of 10 the pc loads windows but the mouse doesnt move. The mouse is completely frozen. When you plug a usb mouse in, i can use that but still the ps2 mouse doesnt move.
When you plug in a ps2 keyboard along with the ps2 mouse, the mouse works everything time but without the ps2 keyboard in, most times the ps2 mouse doesnt work.
We both have no problems with usb devices but the ps2 mouse port (Green) isnt working all the time.
Having a quick look at this forum, i saw this thread.. PS/2 mouse not working exact same problem as me and my uncle.... is there a fix out now for this?
I use a usb mouse anyway and i know if my uncle switches to usb it will work but he shouldnt have to do this, if a board has ps2 support, it should work.

If ps/2 wasnt enabled in the BIOS, the ps2 devices wouldnt work at all would they? My ps2 keyboard works fine, my uncles ps2 mouse doesnt work sometimes so ps2 must be enabled in the bios.

Using 4xsata drives with MSI K8N NEO2

Hi to all
am planning on building a system in the next couple of weeks with the msi neo2 m/board but have heard a few rumours regarding the sata controllers. I plan to incorporate an opteron 146 and 2xballistic pc4000 as well as four sata drives but have heard that I should not use 2 of the sata connectors on the board (which ones?) if wish to overclock as my data could be corrupted (dont plan to RAID).
Could someone please confirm if this is in fact true and whether a BIOS update would remedy it or infact if their is any cure.

Sata ports 3/4 is the fully nforce3 native chipset integrated (uses nvidia integrated PHY).
Use only theese if overclocking .
Satallink clock will be retained at 100mhz always .
Sata ports 1/2 are bridged from the nvidia chipset to an external marvell PHY .
Theese ones can not be used with HTT ref clock beyond ~230mhz +/- a few mhz without producing data corruption .
Satalink ref clock of 100mhz will scale upwards with increased HTT .
This issue applies to all nforce3 250GB/Ultra based motherboards with more than 2 sata ports regardless which vendor/make/model.
It's the chosen hw design that is the issue and no bios ever will fix it .
If you must have 4 sata drives , do like me and install a pci SIL sata controller card for the drives used for storage .
Take Abit NF8 (nf3) as an example .It has only 2 sata ports .
Why ?
Only the true/fully chipset integrated sata ports is used .
Although the nforce3 chipset supports a sata link to an external PHY for port 3 and upwards some has chosen to not utilize it .

I gotta give a shout out for the Corsair Value Select series also. I ran it for years in cheap systems I built for friends without any problems at all. Newegg has it pretty cheap (under $100 bucks).
I think their cheapest starts at 79$ bucks for DDR400

It's the posting. I had a nice little post written up for my initial request but when I posted-it truncated and I had to retype everything (it's the kind of morning I am having ) I will fix my typing.

then it is stucked at the CREATIVE LOGO
so I did the Recovery Mode
I chose Clean Up
So a window came out that says something like are you sure you want to clean up so I chose YES.
then a window came out that says "Scan Disk or Scanning Disk"
I thought that my problem is already over
but, Oh My God! I've already been waiting for like 8 hours and the window saying "Scan Disk" is still not finish. waaaaaa!
then I thought, probably Clean Up is not the solution
I tried Format All
then a window came out saying "Formatting"
What the! I did it like in the evening and I slept for like 0 hours to check in the morning, but still, it is still not finished.
What is this?
I also have a problem, my computer doesn't recognize my Zen, and just to double my bad luck I lost my warranty receipt.

I have received a message from support, stating that the player most certainly is irreparable - and instructions on how to return it to have it replaced.
It seems to me that the player harddisk is broken/damaged. This may be a result of using it while jogging/running... (in my view) It is dissapointing that the player can't handle this - which of course must be considered a fairly normal usage. I have experienced some skipping earlier, but never thought this would affect the player to such an extent.
Hopefully - this is not a fault that applies to every Zen Micro out there, although your posts may indicate that this may be an issue with several players.

Help a noob with 2912 software image question

Hi guys, I have a few noob questions I hope you can help me with.
For study purposes I purchased a WS-C2912-XL-EN switch off of ebay and expected it to have the Enterprise software on it. the "EN" in the model number stands for enterprise does it not?
IOS (tm) C2900XL Software (C2900XL-H2-M), Version 11.2(8.5)SA6, MAINTENANCE INTERIM SOFTWARE
System image file is "flash:c2900XL-h2-mz-112.8.5-SA6.bin"
Processor is running Standard Edition Software
I have a WS-C2924C-XL-EN in my posession that is running:
IOS (tm) C2900XL Software (C2900XL-C3H2S-M), Version 12.0(5)WC8, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
System image file is "flash:c2900xl-c3h2s-mz.120-5.WC8.bin"
Processor is running Enterprise Edition Software
I want to practice setting up trunks and this is why I bought this particular switch so I need the enterprise version.
If the upload the enterprise image from the 2924 to the 2912 will it run?
I don't have access to the Cisco software tool to find out if this image is compatable with the 2912.
Would I be breaking any licensing rules by doing this? The switch was supposed to come with the enterprise software was it not?

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead & copied the IOS enterprise version image from the 2924 and tftped it onto the 2912, removed the old ios and set the boot image.
I rebooted and all is well.
One question; typically a tar would have been uploaded to the switch to update it and deliver the .bin and html files.
I only upgraded the .bin image and am going to use the same html files that were present to manage it through the web interface. Does using the old html files with a new image present a problem??

Help using countifs with pop-up menus please

made a spreadsheet and am using pop-up menus as the cell format to list several shifts when making a schedule for my job, so far so good.
now i would like to total across the rows for each type of shift in 3 categories so for instance, i would like to create a formula that will tally the number of times i selected either the drop down for 9a-6p or 10a-7pm...i can get it to count one occurance by using =COUNTIF(B5:H5, "=9A-6P")...so i was trying something like =COUNTIFS(B5:H5,"=9A-6P",B5:H5,"=10A-7P") to get it to total the number of times i chose both of those text entires for the drop down, but that seems to be missing something...any help would be appreciated....

What you're missing is this (From the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide):
COUNTIFS(test-values, condition, test-values..., condition...)
test-values: A collection containing values to be tested. test-values is a collection containing any type of value.
condition: An expression that results in a logical TRUE or FALSE. condition is an expression that can contain anything as long as the result from comparing condition to a value in test-values can be expressed as a Boolean value of TRUE or FALSE.
test-values...: Optionally include one or more additional collections containing values to be tested. Each test-values collection must be followed immediately with a condition expression. This pattern of test-values, condition can be repeated as many times as needed.
condition...: If an optional collection of test-values is included, an expression that results in a logical TRUE or FALSE. There must be one condition following each test-values collection; therefore, this function will always have an odd number of arguments.
Usage Notes
Each value in test-values is compared to the corresponding condition. If the
corresponding values in each collection meet the corresponding conditional tests,
the count is increased by 1.
The test-values, condition pairs may be thought of as a series of tests connected by AND(s)—the whole set is TRUE only if ALL parts are TRUE.
Your formula should be returning a zero count and you are testing the same set of values for two exclusive conditions—any pop-up set to "9A - 6P" cannot be also set to "10A - 7P"—at least one of the conditions will be false in every case.
For the results you want, you'll need a formula that counts each value/condition set separately, and adds the results:
=COUNTIF(B5:H5,"=9A-6P")+COUNTIF(B5:H5,"=10A-7P")
OR
