Help with updating the grid(CONNECT 4)
Hi, this a small portion of my connect 4 game program. I have a problem with updating the grid. During the game, whenever I enter a column number for the first time, the program works properly. But when i try to give the same column for the second time, the chip falls in the same row instead of going to the second row. Can anybody help me write the method that will do this.
This is the method that switches the chip's value(By the way discard the variable 'turn' because that works properly, it is used in another method):
//Method 2: Updates the matrix
public static void UpdateMatrix (char location, char turn)
c.println (location);
switch (location)
case '1':
matrix [5] [0] = turn;
break;
case '2':
matrix [5] [1] = turn;
break;
case '3':
matrix [5] [2] = turn;
break;
case '4':
matrix [5] [3] = turn;
break;
case '5':
matrix [5] [4] = turn;
break;
case '6':
matrix [5] [5] = turn;
break;
case '7':
matrix [5] [6] = turn;
break;
} //End Method 2Can anybody describe me how to write a method or write a method that will tell the computer to assign the chip to the next row. You an edit my method if u want to. THANX A LOT!!!
HERE IS THE METHODS SO FAR!
//Method 3: Checks if assigned place for the chip has a chip there already
public static void emptyspot (int column, int row)
for (row = 5 ; row >= 0 ; row--)
for (column = 0 ; column <= 6 ; column++)
if (matrix [row] [column] == 'X' || matrix [row] [column] == 'O')
row--;
}I AM GETTING AN ERROR!!! AT THE BOTTOM OF MY PROGRAM! SOMEBODY HELP!

I have rolled out bunch of updates across few hundred workstation systems.
Few of the desktops have failed to install SOME of the updates and just can't get my head around as to why?
Looking at one of the workstations, I can see 5 updates are pending download at 0%.
Some of these fail after a while and with in Software Centre, I can see 'Help with updates - The software change returned error code 0x87D00215(-2016411115).'. Not exactly sure what this means, but I have tried clearing the cache and
rebooting the workstations few times.
(I have also tried to use Windows Update and install one of these manually, which worked.)Investigating this further, I have found the following in CAS.log:

MAC OS 10.6.8 Using Safari 5.1 Needing Help With Updating Adobe Flash
Hello-
Recently Adobe Flash installed an icon in my System Preferences and when I click the icon there are several tabs. One allows updates to check automatically. It says it will install the latest version of Flash without having to remove the previous version, but I have never been told that a newer version is available unless I clcik "check now." although "Check for updates automatically" is checked, I do not know where it tells me a newer version is available. Also, there has been 5 "newer versions" available since this icon was installed in System Prefeences, I have only found out about the newer versions when I clicked "Check Now." If I read that with this new way to install the latest Mac version of Flash does not require me to uninstall the previous version of Flash how do I install the most recent version of Flash? Does it come in an email?
Since it is not telling me that there is a more recent version of Flash unless I click "Check Now" should I still do it the way I used to install the latest version of flash? (The way before this icon was added to System Preferences)?
I would appreciate help with updating Flash to the most recent version. I used to uninstall the older version, restart the browser and download the most recent version and install it. It always worked find but this was before there was an Adobe icon in my system Preferences.Hello,
The way you used to do this (uninstall, restart the browser, etc.) is still definitely valid and probably the "safest" way to get a new version installed. Uninstalling shouldn't be required, but it definitely doesn't hurt. If you feel comfortable doing it the old way, please feel free to continue using that process.
As for notifications, this is a bit trickier, but in general you should be notified within 30 days (or so) after a new player is released. This usually occurs when the browser loads swf content. Clicking the button will, like you mention, immediately check. Another alternative to finding out when a new player is released is to subscribe to our Flash Player Releases feed.
Is there a way to be automatically notified when a new Flash Runtime release is made?
Thanks,
Chris -

Looking at the Yosemite forum, it is obvious that this is a very common issue. You might want to post in that forum for help and advice.

HT201541 I need help with updating my browser.
I need help with updating my browser. Its telling me that Safari is outdated.
That is a very old version belonging to Snow Leopard. I take it you are not actually running Yosemite.
Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mavericks/Yosemite- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Yosemite
1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Lion System Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
or Xeon processor
2. 2GB of memory
3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
4. 7GB of available space
5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply. -

Resetting Airport Extreme disabled my home network. Now when i attempt to get to internet with iPad, or iPhone, I see an Earthlink (ISP) window with message: The internet connection is currently in use by another computer (nun.nn.n.nn) Enter your DSL Account logon psassword to switch the internet connection to this computer. If I do that, other messages follow. I am usually able to switch connection, but can have only one device on internet at a time. Tried to correct problem using Airport Utility, but failed.
Unfortunately, there is mass confusion about whether a device might be a modem or a modem/router since the terms are mixed up all the time. Even though a device might have only one Ethernet port, it can still be a router.
If this is your "modem".......
http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/netopia-cayman-3341-router/4507-3319_7-30484785. html
It is not a modem.....it is a modem/router. If that is the case, then the AirPort Extreme is not the only router on your network....it is one of two routers, and it should be configured to operate in Bridge Mode.
Does this device appear to be your "modem"? -
While I have my WSUS integrated with SCCM. I think this error has nothing to do with SCCM, so I put it here in the WSUS forum. On one of my networks, the nightly WSUS sync worked until two weeks ago. I've made no progress in fixing it. Ocassionally it'll
say the sync was successful (about 1 in 15 attempts). I keep getting "WebException: The underlying connection was closed. The connection was closed unexpectedly. at System.WebServices.Protocols.WebClientProtocol.GetWebResponse(WebRequest
request) at System.WebServices.Protocols.GetWebResponse(WebRequest request) at MicroSoft.UpdateServices.ServerSync.ServerSyncCompressionProxy.GetWebResponse(WebRequest webrequest) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.(Invoke StringMethodName,Object[]
Parameters) at Microsoft.UpdateServices.ServerSync.ServerSyncWebServices.ServerSync.ServerSyncProxy.GetRevisionIdList(Cookie cookie, ServerSyncFilter filter) at Microsoft.Update.Services.ServerSync.CatalogSyncAgentCore.WebserviceGetRevisionIdList(ServerSyncFilter
filter, Boolean isConfigData), at Microsoft.UpdateServices.ServerSync.CatalogSyncAgentCore.SyncConfigUpdatesfromUSS() at Microsoft.UpdateServices.ServerSync.CatalogSyncAgentCore.ExecuteSyncProtocol(Boolean allowRedirect)"
Our enterprise has it's own WSUS server we have to sync from. The problem may be at that end, not mine. A sync will start and will fail about 4 minutes later. Our network guy watched the traffic leave our compound but saw only a trickle of traffic coming
back. Any ideas?
Ben JohnsonWYHi,
Please try this fix below first:
FIX: Intermittent "Underlying connection was closed" error message when you call a Web service from ASP.NET
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/819450
I guess you are maintaining a downstream server. If it isn’t a replica server, please try to sync with Microsoft update.
Hope this helps. -
Help with update choices please
Hey there. I just recently (today, in fact) got a shiny new 20GB Zen Touch. I bought it due to some favorable reviews I read about it, but they mentioned updating the firmware and software/drivers before actually using it.
I had no problem finding the page for the downloads, but I am a bit confused as to which ones I should be downloading, and which ones I really need. Its sort of important to minimize my downloads, as unfortunately I am still in the dark ages of dial-up, and 40MB+ files tend to take a while. Like all day. :smileyvery-happy:
So, I could use some helpselecting the updates I need. There appear to be 2 Firmware updates (one for PlaysForSure and one without), several applications, some drivers, etc. I'm no noob to computers (I just built an Athalon-64 Venice core system myself), but I am a COMPLETE noob when it comes to MP3 players and software.
What I really want to do is to rip my CD library to this computer and put it on the Zen. Simple as that. I'm not terribly concerned about tons of additional features, or downloading music from the web (dial-up...). Then I want to hit "Random" and cram my headphones in my ears, and make the world vanish for hours on end. Particularly at work.
So...after I charge my Zen, and install the software that came with it, what is recommended for updates for useage such as mine? Would it be a good idea to get the PlayForSure Firmware update even if I am not getting music from the web (in case I decide to later)? Which of the applications will be most useful for me?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.Lucky you checked first.
If you want to use subscription music e.g. Napster to Go, Real Rhapsody, Yahoo Unlimited, and/or you want driverless support with Windows XP, then you need to upgrade to the v2 firmware.
If you don't want this, then leave well alone and don't upgrade even to the v firmware. The v firmware upgrades have bugs with the equaliser.
You may want to get the latest drivers though, and the MediaSource software as follows. These are LARGE downloads though, so best done with broadband:
. Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
2. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
3. Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource
Install . then connect the player to the PC. Then install 2. and 3. (the player must be connected for 2. to verify you have a Creative product). -
Looking for help to update the certificate for my Exchange Email Account...
I'm trying to update the certificate for my Exchange Email Account...Dell had me delete the account, install the new certificate on my phone, and set up the email again...But it still won't work and acts like it can't find/use the new cert. Any suggestions besides a hard resest of the phone?
That's a great question, LSchmitz!
Is the e-mail account on your cell phone? Which device? If its on your phone, an Exchange e-mail, may need to be provisioned/ set up by your employer/ IT department.

Hi All,
I've got a client that's running into an intermittent crashing problem with InDesign. Ordinarily "intermittent" points to hardware, but we wanted to rule out bad software first, especially as InDesign is the ONLY application that's crashing on this system. The crashing doesn't seem to correspond to any given task that's executed within InDesign either. This is an iMac 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 (mid 2011 model), 8 GB of RAM. Original this iMac was running Snow Leopard with InDesign CS5 (7.0.4), and crashing fequently then. For numerous reasons including the crashing we did an erase and install of the OS, this time installing 10.8.2, and a fresh install of CS5 and ran all updates from Adobe (to 7.0.4), and then ran a Disk Permissions repair (we have not updated to 10.8.3 due to reports I've seen of more crashing with InDesign CS5). Fonts and InDesign application support files from ~/Library were migrated over manually, but no other user data. The crashing occurs within two user accounts on this fresh OS (one of which was created to troubleshoot with as a clean environment) so isn't likely user account related but due to fonts that may not be confirmed. Being that it's intermittent it's been quite hard to track down. Linotype Font Explorer is installed on this system and I have just now disabled the font activation plugins in case that is part of the problem here; haven't had a chance yet to let the system run without those to see if the problem is resolved. Two recent crash logs (below) show different activity causing the crash (I've included thread 0 only, but can post more if requested; my experience has been that thread 0 will usually give you what you need, but given that we're seeing different cuases here I'm at a loss). We have tried fresh RAM in the system in case this was related to bad memory, and that made no difference. Font caches for both applications and the OS have been cleared and fonts showing any missing printer font files have been disabled. Any help would be greatly apprecaited.
Many thanks,
Mike

The "link related" and "text related" crashes were what I interpretted here, too, though I'm at a loss on how to proceed given that this is a fresh system and applications. This is happening with multiple InDesign projects in a design office environment where many others work on the same files and none of the other computers are having problems with these files. I've removed the same files listed (thank you for those) before and did so effectively with creating the new user account to test with, but it had no effect. I just tried again though, as these files could easily have becone corrupt again if they were being written to when InDesign crashed. Will let you know if that makes any difference. I've also gone through and completely cleaned out the fonts again and once more cleared the font caches. If need be I'll reboot this system into safe mode and try that way.
Best,
Mike
