We would need a little more information than you have provided. What happened when you plugged the phone into the computer that caused this? Do you have backups?

You shouldn't have to restore your phone to keep your data. But first press home and on button at the same time until phone shows up Apple logo an boots up normally. When the phone comes back on plug into ituens and back it up by selecting "Back Up Now". Once backed up, you can press update and install 7.1.1 and it will restore and recover all your previously backed up data. You can also press "update" and itunes will automtically back up the phoen and install 7.1.1.

So you're trying to set up your wife's phone as a new device? Just go to settings > general > reset > erase all content and settings, and you'll get a new device

Working on iPad2, I can create new albums from digital camera imports in Photos; however, when the album is automatically imported into iPhoto, it has lost its custom photo or ding and replaced it with a chronological order. How do I reorder them?

This is normal and is how Apple handles photos.
There are NOT duplicate photos.
Just as a song is in your itunes library and you can access that exact same song from a playlist, all photos synced to iphone are in the photo library and those exact same photos (NOT duplicates) can be accessed from the individual albums.
It is working exactly as it should.

Media is only where you put it.
Did you copy or move the media from the old computer to the new computer?

Maybe the computer USB port is faulty or the iPhone port is dirty or the cable is faulty.

If you bought them on your iPad then you will need to connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy them over to the Tones part of your computer's iTunes library and you can then sync them to your iPhone - ringtones are a one-time only download, so you won't be able to redownload them directly on your phone.

I didn't think of drying it out as had been spun at 1800 revs !!!! I plugged it into computer which recognizes it but screen is blank/black - no sign of life. That was about a week ago. Is it terminal ? Would be v. grateful for any suggestions. Only 3 weeks old !!!!!

If the album was synced to your phone from your computer, it can only be removed by sycing it off. To do this, deselect the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and sync.
