High Available Attendant console for BE6K?

Hi Arun and team,
Where is it documented whether or not BE6K supports the new release 9.0 High Available Premium Attendant console?
The BE6K data sheet says supports "Cisco Unified Attendant Consoles" and then gives a specification of 500 max users and 12 attendants (implying Business Attendant) and that cant be right since BE6K supports 1000 users.
The Data Sheets for the Attendants dont really say if they are compatible with BE6K.In fact, the CUEAC implies it wouldnt work on BE6K since its says it needs 'specs based support'
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucmac/arc/CUACDE_Rel_N_9_0_1_10.pdf
This should be an easy thing to find ;-(
Anyone know where I can find it?
Thanks,
Steve

May I suggest kindly cleaning up the documentation so that this is laid out clearly to all of us. This one gives you the impression no change is to be made to the OVA no matter what the console is.
http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Business_Edition_6000_OVA/OVF_Templates#Unified_Attendant_Consoles
Then we move to the data sheet
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/vcallcon/ps11369/data_sheet_c78-638921.html
Cisco Unified Attendant Consoles is designed specifically for customers with a maximum of 500 IP phones and 12 operators concurrently logged in
So does that mean even if you have premium we can only do 500 Phones and 12 operators? That doesn't sound right.
Next I have this deck from Cisco that says only 25 operators supported. Screen shot attached. So what are the maximums for each type of console supported by the BE6K BU(CUB, CUD, CUE and CUPAC)
Thanks

    Thank you.

    Hi,
You can serially cluster two WAE devices with the Cisco WAE Inline  Network Adapter installed to provide higher availability in the data  center if a device fails. If the current optimizing device fails, the  inline group shuts down, or the device becomes the overloaded, the  second WAE device in the cluster provides the optimization services.  Deploying WAE devices in a serial inline cluster for scaling or load  balancing is not supported.

  • Attendant Console for CUCM 8 and above, My Solution.

I work for a community college in which we employ a full time operator and have several people to fill in for breaks and vacations. Having an attendant console is very important. To complicate matters, we need to have more that the corperate directory in the console for numbers such as departments (Admissions, Financial Aid, etc.) as well as fax numbers and other references.
The attendant console that Cisco provided up untill version 8 met our needs. We upgraded and purchased CUEAC. And for 3 grand, we got a pile of crap with only one seat. The big problem is that it does not support directory integration, does not support incremental search, and has one of the worst implementation designs I have yet to see.
We have tried many consoles, all lacking in one area or another. The one that best met our needs was the most expensive, and had the smallest feature set. We could not justify spending money on somthing that is not at least as good as the free product that cisco once offered.
My crazy solution: Use CUCMAC (Assistant Console). For reference, we have UCCX with Basic Seats (No Desktop Agent).
Cons: Does not support imcremental search or directory integration.
Pros: Free, Unlimited seats, one search entry searches all fields.
    Implementation:
Created a dummy "Manager" which allowed me to be able to create "Assistants" (operators).
At this point each person that is to act as an operator can now log into this software with their network username and password (we are LDAP Integrated). They can see and control the lines on their phones, and the software is almost identicle to the Attendant Console Software they were use to.
Created and ACD queue for the operator and added an ACD DN to each phone. The users go Ready and Not Ready using the IPPA.
In our situation, we have the full corperate directory, which for most companies is fine. In our case we need additional numbers for the Departments and such. Becuase we are LDAP integrated, we will need to sync to an additional Directory source for the missing numbers. I wish we could use " Contacts" in AD, but becuase they dont have user ID's, cisco will not import them.
To summarize operation, the operator logs into the ACD queue and used Assitant Desktop as a user interface for the phone. The only thing that differs from Attendant Console, is that you have to use the phone to log in and out, not the desktop software.
Please let me know what you thing, and any ideas how to improve this setup would be greatly appreciated!

    Bradley,
I cannot comment on the implementation you have gone through but I can comment on your comments about CUEAC.
There is going to be a new release in June this year which will support directory integration directly to AD as well as the CUCM sync which is available today.
The GUI iteself is to undergo a redesign in version 10, the date on this release is not yet known.
Incremental search is something which is not on the roadmap but is something I will discuss with the Product Manager to see if it can be considered.

  • High Availability Test Cases for ECC6.0, PI 7.0, BI 7.0???

    Dear All
I am in a pretty difficult situation here. I have to write test cases for the components in the High Availability environment. We are running AIX 5L with HACMP/XD clusters ACTIVE/PASSIVE setting. The following components are in the landscape, ECC6.0, PI 7.0 BI 7.0 cFolders 4.0 Portal 7.0 SLD 2004s and Solman 4.0. I have to write test cases for the above components especially ECC, PI BI and cFolders in the HA environment as to
1.<b>WHAT WILL BE THE EFFECT ON OTHER COMPONENTS IF ECC</b> <b>FAILOVER  and so on for PI and BI</b>,
       2. How do I check the consistency of the system after a failover, since the time for a failover will be anywhere between 3 - 4 mins.
Can anyone pls give me a 5 or 6  checks like
    Checking RFC connections
    ABAP dumps
Consistency check (txn: SICK)   and so on
In the test cases I have to make sure that after a failover the system is up and ready to perform the activities that it was able to before the Failover......
Will appreciate any suggestions and will definitely reward points for any helpful answers....Thanks in advance.

    Hi Shailesh,
If you want you can activate SCM_SNC_GEN_1 depending upon business needs or configuration.
As per my understanding there is no need to activate any business function but if you need additional feature of SNC to be used then refer below help link for more details:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_SNC700_ehp01/helpdata/en/a2/6d67d9b60149cb887acf72ae0b90ac/frameset.htm
In ECC you are going for EPh5 which means no need to activate any additional business function(Normally SNC needs EPh4 only for some the latest feature to be use like in workorder collaboration ManufacturingWorkOrderInformation and ManufacturingWorkOrderProductionProgressNotification XML are used if ECC is with EPh4)

  • Cisco Unified Attendant Consoles for Be6000

    Hi
I would like to know if there is limitation in teh directory sync from Cucm, ex, do the user need to have a directory number to be synced.
I have a setup and right now I have about 100 users but only 2 users have a directory number and these are the only 2 users I can see in attendant console, but in Cucm users I can see all the suers.
    Regards Bjørn

    Bjorn,
It depends on the CUAC Edtion and the source you are using.
If you are using Departmenr, Business or Enterprise Edition then the sync is done with the CUCM and therefore the telephone number field against End Users must be populated in order for the contact to be seen in the CUAC directory.
This is the same for Premium Edition if syncing with CUCM but you can also sync directly with AD, in this case the telephone number field or IP Phone field (or whatever field you are using to pull through the contact number) must be populated.
I agree with your point about there being a use case for people in the directory without a telephone number, I will raise this with the product team and request an enhancement.

  • Choosing VM as high availability for BizTalk's SQL Server databases

    Hi,
I'm lloking to choose the architecture of our BizTalk 2013 solution.
The application server will be build on virtual machines, but I still have interrogation about the SQL Server.
Is a SQL Server on a VM supported for BizTalk 2013 ?
Because in case of physical failure, the VM moved to another server can we considered the VM as a solution of High-Availability ?
    thanks for your reply.

When the SQL VM fails over what attributes of the server will change? If everything including the server name, the mapped SAN locations (for Databases) and/or the versions of SQL will remain the same then it will behave like a temporary network outage between
    the Front-end and the SQL.
If however, the failed over VM has a different set of mapped location for DB then you would need to establish a BizTalk Log Shipping between SQL VM 1 and SQL VM 2. In this scenario, the recovery will require time and cannot be automatic.
A word of caution though. If you have SLA's pertaining to transactions/messages per second with the customer then you might want to evaluate having dedicated boxes of SQL. The SQL Licensing is PER CORE and in a VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT all the
CORES have to be licensed since the Virtualization does not permit you to BIND the VM to a specific set of CORES. The same would apply for your BizTalk Servers. This just might work out costlier as opposed to the dedicated server environment.
    Regards.

  • High Availability of BPEL System

We are having a High Availability architecture configuration for the BPEL System in our production environment.
The BPEL servers are clustered in the middle tier of the architecture and RAC is used in the database tier of the architecture.
We have 5 BPEL processes which are getting invoked within each other. For eg:
    BPELProcess1 --> BPELProcess2 --> BPELProcess3, BPELProcess4 &
    BPELProcess4 --> BPELProcess5
Now when all the above BPEL processes are deployed on both the nodes of the BPEL server, how do we handle the end point URL's of these BPEL servers.
Should we hardcode the end point URL in the invoking BPEL process or should we replace the IP address of the two nodes of the BPEL server with the IP address of the load balancer.
If we replace the IP address of the BPEL server with the IP address of the load balancer, it will require us to modify, redeploy and retest all the BPEL processes again.
    Please advise
    Thanks

The BPEL servers are configured with active - active topology and RAC is used in the database tier of the architecture.
BPEL Servers is not clustered. Load Balancer is used in front of the two nodes of the BPEL servers.

  • Attended Xfer on A SPA500S 32 Button Attendant Console

I have a CISCO 504G with a SPA500S 32-Button Attendant Console.  I had this all configured just the way I like it, when I had to remove the Attendant Console for a recent move.  Now I have my console all programed with all my speed dials (employee extensions and cell numbers) but I can't transfer a call.  When I called my VoIP carrier, Vocalocity, they said it can't be done.  When I first got my sidekick, they told me the same thing.  I then called Cisco and they told me exactly how to configure it to be able to perform an Announced transfer so I know its possible.  I need to be able to let my employee know who is calling before I transfer the call.  Can anyone help me?

We just installed an new system with the SPA508g phones and the SPA 500s Side Car and are having the same monitoring issues. We have notified our support and they have been tweeking our system quite a  bit. If this is a known issue why is CISCO not resolving it. Does CISCO monitor these forums?

  • SAP PI 7.1 High Availability, Active-Active or Active-Passive

We are planning go to HA system for PI 7.11
    I've few doubts/questions regarding this.
Can we make Active-Active clustering or Active-Passive? Or itu2019s our choice?
If it is our choice, then is at Configuration level (Application level)? or hardware level?
What are additional steps we need to take for Active-Active clustering? (Which we are looking for)
    What is recommended by SAP?
    Any Pros & Cons.
Please reply me if you have any information regarding this, any information regards to this is greatly appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi Sagar,
Please use Active-Passive for your SAP PI 7.1 High Availability system.
For more details, please refer to the sdn link:
    High Availability
    ->High Availability FAQ
    ->What is an "active-active cluster"?
An active-active cluster consists of two independent server nodes at a minimum. The workload within a cluster resource is shared between the server nodes. If a cluster node crashes the processes are resumed by the remaining cluster nodes. An active-active cluster configuration means that a cluster resource is active on all cluster nodes. The aim of an active-active cluster is not only to provide high availability system but to distribute the workload between the cluster nodes. Applications with a very high workload like databases benefit from an active-active setup. Due to the SAP Central Services Instance is a light component an active-active setup does not make any sense. Therefore the SCS is implemented as an active-passive cluster resource.

  • ACE - Port-channel High Availability

We have configured two ACEs with high Availability. ACEs link with our cores, switches cat6500, through a port-channel, ACE’s ports G1/1 and G1/2. High availability works fine if some vlan down but it doesn’t work if an interface down, only if both interfaces get down because then, all vlans of the channel port get down two.
If possible get an interface port-channel high availability?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Thanks for your answer. I have two Cat6500, no VSS possibility. I have two ACEs so each one has configured a port-channel with one Cat6500 (two ports). It works fine. Any problem with that. My issue is when one port-channel of both port is down, failover doesn’t works then, only if both ports are down or vlans are down. I think high availability is only possible in vlan interfaces, not in physical interfaces.
    Regards my friend.

  • ESP - MQ High Availability options

    Hi there,
My organisation (DHS Australia) have recently upgraded our Websphere Message Broker environment from v7 to v8.
As part of this upgrade, in our Production environment we are now running 4 queue managers, the idea behind this is that it helps to provide a higher level of availability (i.e. basically if one queue manager goes down, the others can pick up it’s load).
The ESP MQ adapter currently only allows for connection to the one queue manager, so in our ESP-MQ implementation we are exploring possibilities of how we can possibly get the output from ESP shared across the 4 queue managers. We are looking at a number of options within MQ/Broker itself (eg. clustered queue definitions, clustered queue manager etc), and currently doing some testing to see how/if this works with the supplied ESP MQ adapters.
However, my question for the ESP community/tech-team is whether there has been any thought to implementing something similar to how SAP PI can connect to MQ in a High Availability sense? For example, see this blog post:
    http://scn.sap.com/people/anandan.krishnamoorthy/blog/2010/06/08/high-availability-in-jms-adapter
Has there been any thought given to whether the ESP MQ adapter can be enhanced or configured to use a MQ Client Channel Definition Table, as an alternative connection configuration method?
    Cheers,
    Jason.

Jason - this isn't something that is currently on the ESP roadmap, but perhaps it should be. I'll be interested to see if others in the community have other perspectives on this, or experience doing something similar.

  • Attendant console issues

I upgraded call manager from 5.1(2) to 6.1(2). I upgraded attendant console for the reception. Most of the features are working.
When the call come in attendant console does not see an incoming call under CALL PROCESSING window.
    Please advise..
    Thanks

If you do not configure the user, the attendant console cannot interact with CTIManager, and the attendant cannot receive calls so configure the user.

  • Oracle Identity Federation - High Availability

    Hello,
We are trying to figure out the high availability options supported by the Oracle Identity Federation. While reading the documentation we find it a bit confusing. We read the OIF Administrator Guide here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10773_01/doc/oim.1014/b25355/advtopics.htm#CHDBCDFG
In Section "9.4 High Availability" it said that "Oracle Identity Federation supports the Cold Failover Cluster (CFC) or active-passive high availability configuration,". In the Application Server 10g guide also said the same and explicitly said that the active-active configuration is not supported for the OIF.
Then in Section "9.5 Setting Up a Load Balancer with Oracle Identity Federation" it explains how to set up a load balancer for the OIF. When it explains this it says that we can have several instances of OIF in different machines, configured with a load balancer. All these instances share the same transient database where the sessions are stored.
Which is the difference between this load-balancer-based configuration and an active-active high availability configuration? If one node of the load-balancer configuration goes down, the sessions administered by him are lost? That is the difference?
    Thanks!
    Leonardo

    Hi
I am not very sure about High Availability configuration but for Load balancer as mentioned in the document, You have to have both the instances sharing transient database where sessions will be stored.
If both the OIF instances are not sharing transient database and you have LB sharing load, It will not work as sessions will be store in memory. So sessions from one OIF instance will not be known and available to the other instance of OIF.
    Thanks
