How do I automatically connect to Wi-Fi upon login?

Each time I login, I have to open terminal emulator and type "wifi-menu" and then choose my connection in order to grant Internet access. Is there a way for me to automatize this?

Use:
netctl list
to view the profiles generated by wifi-menu; then use:
netctl enable <name of profile>
to start it up at boot
EDIT: sorry @ewaller...

  • How to set up automatic connection to a router's login page

    When I try to use a public wifi (say at the library) that requires a simple login, my Firefox does not automatically seek the login page. How can I make that automatic? Of course, I am manually connecting to the router and opening my Mozilla, but it simply times out because it finds nothing. In order to make it work, I always have to type in IP address. How do I make Mozilla automatically find the login page once connected to the router?

    jscher2000,
    I tried your suggestions: (i) When I clicked a bookmarked page (wsj.com) it continued to spin its wheels and ultimately timed out. (ii) Ctrl+Shift+r did absolutely nothing also.
    Also, I tried your suggestions in both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer to no avail.
    There must be a simple setting in either of the two browsers options menus that tells it to automatically seek out a router's login page. Why would this not be occurring on my four month old laptop.
    Thanks for helping.

  • How can I automatically connect to multiple connecting streams? to have 2 way communications foreach

    I need to setup a send stream that will only allow each farID to connect 1 time, and automatically connect to the connector so I ca have 2 way communication.
    I learned if in my onpeerconnect function i do this...:
    var c:Object = new Object;
    c.onPeerConnect = function(subscriber:NetStream):Boolean
       if(ready==ready)
       if(receiveStream==null)
        setupReceiveStream(subscriber.farID);
        return true;
        else
        return false;
    it seems to work fine, and they will start a 2 way connection BUT i want to potentially allow multiple connections, and setup multiple receive streams so im trying to com up with a solution to check if its already streaming to the peer. I wish I could just do this:
    var c:Object = new Object;
    c.onPeerConnect = function(subscriber:NetStream):Boolean
        setupReceiveStream(subscriber.farID);
        return true;
    But, for some reason it just keeps returning true over and over and over it doesnt just do it once on the connect, i get something like this:
    NetStream.Play.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset
    NetStream.Play.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset
    NetStream.Play.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset
    NetStream.Play.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset
    NetStream.Play.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset
    NetStream.Play.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset
    NetStream.Play.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset
    NetStream.Play.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset
    NetStream.Play.Start
    NetStream.Play.Reset
    NetStream.Play.Start
    So, heres what im trying to do:
    protected function setupSendStream():void
    sendStream = new NetStream(netConnection, NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS);
    sendStream.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, sendStreamHandler);
    var c:Object = new Object;
    c.onPeerConnect = function(subscriber:NetStream):Boolean
    var test:Boolean=true;
    var THEStream:NetStream = null;
    for each (var stream:NetStream in sendStream.peerStreams)
    if (stream["farID"] == subscriber.farID)
    well=false;
    trace("found it!");
    if(test)
    setupReceiveStream(subscriber.farID);
    trace("returned true");
    return true;
    else
    trace("returned false");
    return false;
    sendStream.client=c;
    sendStream.publish("MyChannel");
    trace("SETUP SEND STREAM");
    cirrusStatus=connectedReady;
    But it seems like after it returns true and runs the setup, so i can have 2 way communication, it runs the onpeerconnect function 1 more time after it returns true, and its a return false and then it makes the play fail and it ruins the connection.
    Any ideas on how I can listen for connects to my sendStream, then have it get the farID and then connect to that farID?
    keep in mind im trying to potentially support multiple connections to my sendstream which i think will be easy, but whats more confusing is having multiple receivestream connections

    "Method Three
    Create a separate iTunes library for each device. Note:It is important that you make a new iTunes Library file. Do not justmake a copy of your existing iTunes Library file. If iTunes is open,quit it.
    This one may work. I searched and searched on the website for something like this, I guess I just didn't search correctly, lol. I will give this a try later. My daughter is not be back for a few weekends, therefore I will have to try the Method 3 when she comes back for the weekend again. "
    I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. She wants to sync her iPod and also backup her iPod at both places. Both PCs have been authorised. Thanks

  • How do I automatically connect to my ISP when I launch Firefox like Internet Explorer does (Firefox is set as my default browser)?

    When Microsoft Internet Explorer was my browser the dial-up connection screen to my internet service provider would come up automatically when I launched the browser.
    Now that I have made Mozilla Firefox my default browser this no longer happens. Launching Firefox results in an error message which says the website cannot be found. I then have to launch Internet Explorer, connect to my ISP, close Internet Explorer, then launch Firefox.
    This is a bit tedious. Can Firefox perform the same connect to ISP action automatically just like Internet Explorer does? If so, how do I activate this?
    Thanks

  • How can I automatically connect to the server without having to type the password and click "connect"?

    I have a Mac OS X 10.8 and a Time Capsule configurated as server with a name "Servidor" on my home. The discs are protected by Accounts, so, each person can access the server by typing own name and password. The problem is... Every time I start the computer, I see the window below:
    So, every time I start I have to type my name and pass. And the box "Remember this password on my keychain" doesn't work because the "Password" is always blank when I see the window, like the image up.
    Please, someone help me to automatize it so I don't need to type nothing to connect to the server. I want something that do it automatically for me.
    NOTE: Please, explain clear and with details because I'm a new Mac's user.
    Thank so +!

    Try running KeyChain First Aid if you have not already done so.
    Open Keychain Access and click on the KeyChain Access menu at upper left of the screen
    Click KeyChain First Aid, then close KeyChain Access
    Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Network
    Click on AirPort or WiFi on the left
    Click Advanced at the lower right
    Click to highlight an old network that you no longer need, then click the - (minus) button to delete the listing
    Do the same for other neworks that you no longer need
    Make sure there is a check mark in the box that reads  "Remember networks this computer has joined"
    No other boxes should be checked.
    Click OK, then click Apply
    That is about all that you can do.

  • How to stop automatic connection to itune store when opening itunes?

    when ever i try to open i tunes without internet connection,a warning diallog box appears saying that  'itunes cannot connect to itunes store.check internet connection'.ive tried disabling store,podcasts and everythng in itune preferences but still doesnt make any change..please help me out..please..:(

    There is no issue here. If you have no Internet connection, it's impossible to access the store, therefore iTunes will alert you with this message so you don't get confused. You can use all the other offline features on iTunes, so you shouldn't be going through so much trouble to solve something which isn't a problem. There is no way to stop iTunes automatically attempting to access the store when you open iTunes, so you'll have to deal that message. If I'm not getting the issue, please tell me.

  • How do I silently connect to a NAS during login?

    I would like to connect to a NAS shared automatically and silently at logon.
    I can connect to a share manually using 'go > connect to server'
    I have set the login items for the user to include opening a volume on the NAS (this is the only way that I seem to be able to see the NAS ip in Finder's sidebar. Dragging does not work?)
    I have changed the keychain entry so that it does not prompt for a password each time.
    The final step which is the one actually stumping me, is to close the finder window to the share that is opened automatically, thus making the connection but with no sign of it other than the NAS in the finder sidebar.
    My question(s) are simply...
    1. How do I close that final finder window (or stop it opening)?
    2. Is there a more elegant solution of permanently connecting to a server?
    The computer is for a computer novice (my wife) and was chosen because .macs just work'.
    Personally, I would simply map a drive in windows ... job done ... and that is the effect and simplicity that I am hoping to emulate.
    Many thanks.
    Martin.

  • Automatically mount a network drive upon login

    Hi All,
    Can anyone help!
    I want to automatically mount a network drive when a network user logs in.
    Client OSX10.4.9
    Network drive/share is samba based.
    Network user is LDAP based (Novell eDirectory)
    I currently have the following working:
    An eDirectory (LDAPv3) user logs in & authenticates ok.
    Mounting the network drive/share works ok MANUALY, with the following
    smb://IPorDNS
    user is then prompted for their password (I want this automated @ login preferably)
    What I need is some help automating this smb mounting @ login time using the users ldap Username/Password. I guess this would need to be done using an Applescript of sorts, but I'm stuck as to how to take this forward..!
    cifs://workgroup;Username:Password@IPorDNS/profile
    The above works manually, but how do I go about swapping the Username:Password for environment variables, and then packaging this into a script/application that runs during login..???
    TIA
    Danny
    Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi Matt,
    Yes that would work for a single user that wants the same mount everytime but not for multiple network users, as the path changes for each user...
    e.g.
    /networkserver/usersarea/user1
    /networkserver/usersarea/user2
    /networkserver/usersarea/user3
    etc
    I think I need something like Actioscript apps to run during the login process...
    TIA
    Danny

  • How to automatically connect to a 802.1x connection at login?

    I want to set a time for the computer to start up, and automatically connect to the internet at login.
    I connect to the internet using the 802.1x connection via enthernet. So regularly, i have to open the System Preferences and choose Network, and click the connect in the 802.1x section.
    Is there anyway to let the mac do the things for me?
    Thanks!

    This depends on what the exact problem is:
    If it is general access to the network, then you can try doing a factory reset of the Router/Base Stations. This is relatively simple and instructions are given in the manual or at the apple support website.
    If its a location problem, i.e. automatic selection of the correct network connection, then if you create a new 'Location' in Location->Network Preferences -> Location -> Edit Location under the Apple Menu (top left) and only add the 802.1x connection to it (or rather delete the other network connections) and are using this location at shutdown, then this should be chosen as the primary network connection when you reboot.
    The removal of the other network connections under the specified Location does not remove them from the computer, only prevents automatic access to them at that location.
    Hope this helps

    System Preferences > Network > WiFi
    To give a network the highest priority, drag the name of the network to the top of the list. This is the network your computer will attempt to join first.

    Random35,
    does your wi-fi router filter access by MAC address? If it does, then have you added your MacBook Pro’s MAC address to your router’s whitelist of acceptable MAC addresses?

  • How can I get an automatic connection to wifi on startup?

    We lost internet connection during snow/ice storm. I have to manually connect to wifi now. How can I get an automatic connection to wifi?

    An 'uninterruptible power supply' that automatically steps in and takes your computer
    off the grid momentarily, will work in cases of brown-out (under-power) & surge (spike)
    and it does so at a fast rate. Most of these also offer a way to customize sensitivity to
    a certain degree, depending on model and should there be a valid reason to do so.
    An old-school surge protector, even if it has a few fancy LEDs, is no protection. And
    for less than a replacement logic board or an hour of authorized Apple repair, the UPS
    is a fairly good investment. Backup battery is user-replaceable in the better made units.
    Most of them offer extra ports that do not use the battery-backup power feature. If you
    need to have more items run when the power switches up/down or out, you'd need to
    consider a larger capacity backup power unit. In some instances, the makers of these
    (for a time, perhaps even now) did caution users to not install more than one UPS per
    room when the same leg may have inadequate grounding, since these can dump the
    excess surge power from several different UPS units and overload the ground.
    That said, the gamble is yours. I've found to have and use these is some protection
    and when away from the computer. Most settings for controlling them appear in OS X.
    No additional software is required. Other settings may be on the UPS front panel.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How can I make my harrier automatically connect to my home wifi?

    Hi, I got an EE Harrier about 3 weeks ago for the wifi calling  (confirmed by the EE shop staff....) only to discover that it's not actually available yet - oh well. My question is how can I get the phone to pick up my home wifi automatically? Obviously as I leave the house it loses the wifi but I have to manually connect it every time when I come back in. i know on other Android phones there's a 'Smart Network Switch' but the Harrier doesn't seem to have that, or if it does it's well hidden. Can anyone help please? TIA

    Hi Glossopian, did you find a remedy to this? I just renewed my contract and upgraded my phone to the harrier. Like you my last phone automatically connected to any wi fi I had already entered a password into including home,  holiday accomodation, pubs etc. Now I have to manually tell it to connect every time I go out into the garden and come back into the house. Very frustrating!

    Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Restore from backup. See:
