How do I connect to Time Capsule from a Windows 8.1 machine which is on a Windows domain. I have been able to connect from a Windows 7 machine on a Windows domain to a Time Capsule. Airport utility is not displaying the Time Capsule Win8.1 machine.
I have checked that the firmware has been updated to 7.6.4 . Similalrly the Win8.1 machine has been loaded with the update specified in another discussion.
Firstly how are you connecting to the TC.. wireless or ethernet?
Please open a command window and ping it.. ping by name and by IP address.
If ping succeeds at least by IP it should work.
In windows explorer type
\\10.0.1.1 (or whatever the TC ip is.. that is the default).
Having the airport utility for windows loaded can help the process. As it loads bonjour for windows.
7.6.4 firmware on the TC is useless. It works better on 7.6.1
If the ping does not succeed by either name or IP address yet you have internet through the TC, then your network is setup wrongly. You are have firewalls blocking local IP. Take down all the firewalls.

I have a Time Capsule on which I back up 2 MacBooks and on my wife's machine she keeps having Airport Utility popping up all the time with a yellow button flashing on the left and a Red button on the right side with a "1" in the middle of it. On the Mac......
Open up Macintosh HD > Applicatons > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit in the small window that appears
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window
Change the setting for Router Mode from the current DHCP and NAT to read Off (Bridge Mode), then click Update at the lower right of the window, and wait a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart to a green light.
Then.....very important
Power off the Time Capsule and your Arris modem/router for a few minutes
Start up the Arris first, and let it run a few minutes by itself
Start up the Time Capsule next the same way
Your network will now be correct, and your printing capabilities will improve.
If Time Machine backups do not occur now, post back and we will tackle that next. -
Airport Utility did not see the base station.
When I bought Airport Extreme I didn't succeed installing it. Airport Utility DID NOT see the base station.
With Apple assistance I first 'FOUND' the base connecting it to my Intel iMac through ethernet. Later I was able to finish the setup wireless through Airport utility. It works fine and I saved the configuration.
Now I wish to reinstall Leopard initializing the computer in order to make some major cleanup.
Shall I be able to reinstall Airport opening the saved configuration or might I found some of previous problems (base not found) again?
I would appreciate any meaning of yours.I solved this with help from Apple Assistance

My Desktop Mac won't startup, it turns on to the grey screen flashing question file. I have been able to startup from the snow leopard install cd but once I try to repair within DU the disk never appears in the side panel. The only thing there is "Media"... What can I do? Help!
If Disk Utility cannot see your drive it doesn't look good.
You could try DiskWarrior. It is expensive but can often fix directory structures where DU cannot.
Replacing the drive is also a strong likelihood. If you don't have a fairly recent backup, then it might be worth buying DiskWarrior

HT3728 airport utility does not see my time capsule
I got a Time Capsule for Christmas, have hooked it up, turned it on, then the Airport Utility. The airport utility has not found it - I have reset it using the button on the back several times and still nothing. I have also restarted my computer, which is a new macbook pro, but nothing.
Advice please! I am new to Mac and am quite frustrated, considering returning the Time Capsule, if I can ...That was not helpful of Apple at all, as this is a much trickier setup..

Please follow those instructions to load 5.6 airport utility.. as you will find it much better.
In your case you will need to do the same thing but on the airport setup.. which is another layer in to ethernet.
But the idea is the same.. do not use automatic setup of the wireless IP settings.. you need to do it manually but it is relatively easy. Again you need to make sure your ISP is not using a 10.x.x.x address as many do.. the cheap skates are saving IP addresses. If they do that you will need to use manual setup of the TC as well.
You will still want to do the setup of the TC by ethernet.. but can use wireless once it is done.
Exactly as in the other thread, go to airport in network preference and go to the airport setup, then fix the IP address as I have shown.

Connected to Airport WiFi Net but Airport Utility does not "see" the AE(n)
Have both the Airport Extreme (g) and (n). Have no problems with the AE(g) which I am using now, but the AE(n) somehow does not appear in the "Airport Utility".
I see the new AE(n) in the Airport Finder selection tool and I connect to the AE(n) network WiFi. The connection is successful and I get all of the vertical black semi-circles showing connection. Then I open Airport Utility and attempt to scan to see the AE(n) and it does not appear.
I've tried to hard reset the AE(n) and configure using Ethernet. The AE(n), appears in Airport Utility when attached by Ethernet. Once configured. I disconnet the Ethernet cable and connect to the new WiFi network but the Amber light flashes, the AE(n) does not connect successfully to the DSL modem and my iMac (Core Duo) Airport Utility program fails to "see" the new base station. I am going nuts. Pls help.
I did read through other problems and the troubleshooting section and did not come accross this same problem.Spent 75 minutes on the phone with Apple support. At the end of the day learned a few things.
1) Hold down control key to get additonal wireless config options including one which allows 802.11b/g only
2) Using "Other" as a network option in the Internet Connect application solves the problem that only "WPA" password is allowed while I have configured my AE to WEP. You need to type in the AE network name but you are allowed to choose the correct password schema
3) Using "Network Utility" and pinging 10.0.1.1 found out that I had 90% packet loss and that my new AE(n) is most likely defective and in need of replacement...
After all that am back to using my AE(g). -
AirPort Utility doesn't cancel the Time Cpause disk erase process

Am I the only one, whos' AirPort Utility for Windows 5.6.1 doesn't cancel the previously started erase process? (See the picture)

Consider a TC a fully isolated and autonomous computer. Essentially it really is - but the core feture of embedded OS is network operations and it's functions are limited to taks it supposed to perform. AirPort Utility is just a remote control for it. TimeCapsule is fully self-sustained in handling its operations - from network operations to hardware monitoring. If you told it to start self-formatting process it doesn't need any outter interference. -
Airport Utility will not display any base stations.
I just had a new hard drive installed in my two year old MAC, since the last one crashed and have Mavericks installed. I have tried to un-install the application so I can re-intall a new one but the system will not let me. I am running a 5th generation of Airport Extreme which by forcing the back methoed of pulling the airport and continualiy doing a hard factory reset on the device, we have determained that the application Airport Utility for Mavericks is defective but there is no patch or update available; how do i get the application to show my base station so I can monitor who is conected to my internet.
I'm not interested in ascribing blame either but waiting for Apple to fix something that isn't broken will only divert attention from seeking the problem's underlying cause. Assuming the AirPort Utility app on your Mac remains unaltered, it's exactly the same one everyone else is using. Should there be any doubt about that, reinstalling OS X will obviate any concern.
I suggest the following for you to consider as you deem appropriate.
Apple's Wireless Diagnostics may supply some additional helpful information.
To use it, hold an option key while you click your Mac's Wi-Fi icon, and choose Open Wireless Diagnostics...

It is urgent!That is odd and I could only guess at the cause.
If the file came from a digital camera the "code" for the timeline may be corrupt. This could happen if the capture was started and then stopped then resumed.
I would also expect playback of the file to stop when QT Player reaches what "it thinks" is the end of the file. Hitting the play button may continue playback or it could return to the "beginning" of the file.
You may be able to see the timeline by opening the "Movie Info" window. Leave it open as you play the file. Does the time appear in the Movie Info window? -

I am setting up my Time Capsule for the first time, all of my connectiions are correct but, AirPort Utility is not recognizing my Time Capsule or my network?
Try connecting your iMac to the Time Capsule with an Ethernet cable to see if that allows AirPort Utility to "see" it.

Help! I am an artist who had my site professionally designed on iWeb 08. Although I have been able to transfer to Godaddy, my ability to publish is limited. I must upload my entire site and it is time consuming. I was advised to update to IWeb 09 (which I could get, I think? from Amazon) because it has a built- in option to publish to any FTP. How do I convert my 08 folder to an 09 folder? Will it convert correctly? I know eventually I will need to rebuilt the site, but I would like to use this option for awhile to buy time. Is this feasible? I currently own a Mac Pro.

Airport Utility can not connect to Time Casule in Yosemite
HELLO EVERYONE! I have a Macbook Pro 17 mid 2009 and recently i have it upgraded to Yosemite.Airport Utility doesn't detect the TIME CAPSULE despite the computer is connected to the network through Wi-Fi.Time Machine can not detect the back up disk as well . Please any sugestions,than you.
Did you perform the complete power cycle that I suggested? That will often help with issues like this.
If you did and it did not help....then the next step may or may not help....or may make matters worse.....so you might want to wait for the next Yosemite update to see there is a "fix" for the common issue that you are reporting.
In my case, the issue was resolved by resetting the Time Capsule back to factory default settings and then setting it up again....using a simple device name for the Time Capsule and a simple wireless network name for the network.
The names are short....no more than 12 characters, use only letters and numbers and contain no blank spaces or special characters in the name.
Once the network was back up and running, I had to reset Time Machine to get backups going again to the "new" Time Capsule. -
Windows 7 airport utility does not recognize my airport extreme
My iphone connects to my airport extreme and the airport utility sees it. So does my ipad and my friends laptop.
When I use wifi or wired connection (to lan port) from Windows 7 laptop to my airport extreme. The airport utility does not "see the extreme.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled the following:
- bonjour
- airport utility
- itunes.
I've wasted 3 hours on this.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.....UPDATE
* I located the IP address and admin password of the airport extreme and was able to log into to the (File / configure other) airport extreme.
I believe it's a W7 bonjour issue.
As you can see in my attachments, Bonjour is installed however msconfig running services show it as stopped. I can't get it to start.

What version extreme are you talking about? Actual model A1xxx from the base is a big help.

Please turn off all firewalls.

Make sure win7 is set to home.. not work or public for location of the network.
