I have a field that has incorrect data as a result of users entering wrong info. All the fields contain a + character somewhere in the field, and I'm trying to find a way of sorting a reports that just lists the field records that contains the + character. Is there a that is an equivilant to 'contains' or 'includes' that I can use in a formula.

Try with InStr.
For example, create a formula such as:
If instr({table.field},'+') > 0 then true else false;
Sort (descending) using this formula to give you all the records where the field contains a '+'.

How do I test for the presence of an active open document in Photoshop?

I’m new to Adobe scripting, and one of my first scripts deals with the activeDocument in Photoshop.
If there is no activeDocument, I want to display a message and terminate the script. My efforts
so far have been met with frustration. While developing the script in ExtendScript Toolkit,
I used the test expression "activeDocument in app", and everything worked as expected. And when I installed the script
in the Photoshop scripts folder and ran it from Photoshop with a document open, it also worked.
But when I ran the script from Photoshop with no document open, it failed.
Moreover, after that,the script failed when I tried to run it in ESTK.
I did some testing and found that my test expression, "activeDocument in app"
was returning true, even though no document was open.
Still in ESTK, I replaced the “app” with ”Application” in the test expression. That worked when
I stepped through the script. But when I tried to run it without stopping, it stopped at the
test expression, and displayed the error message, “Application is undefined.”
So how do I test for the presence of an open document in Photoshop ??

After posting this, I discovered the Photoshop Scripting Forum, and I found my answer there.—
I should have used “app.Documents.length” as my test expression.

If the accounts are on the same computer, you should not have to use a different e-mail address. If your son's account is not an Administrator account, this may be the issue. Are you able to launch VirusBarrier from your son's account from Applications>Intego?

Yes I am able to do that and the issue that we were having seems to have settled down after the computer crashed and I restarted it by resetting PRAM and repairing the disk. Can you help me understand what to do about the issues that the console in utilities is logging frequently? both before and since the crash yesterday; (see below)

Here's my latest list of complaints to Intego regarding Family Protector. I thought it should be shared:
I have been using Family Barrier for a couple of years now, and may I say, it has so many problems that as soon as I can find a better alternative, I'm gone. Until that day, however, I expect some solutions.
Issue #1: The application is 100% unreliable. The chances of it doing its job on any given day are seriously 50/50. Or worse. This alone renders the program useless. But that's not all.
Issue #2: It's unbelievably easy to override. Are you seriously unaware that all one has to do is change the date on the computer to one before Family Barrier was installed, it will 100% not do its job. Awesome. This is straight out of Hacking 101, and any program should be able to defend against it. Otherwise, any demo I try download can be made to work forever. While some are, most are not. Get it together, People.
Of course, making time changes impossible can be done from my end by the keeping admin password unknown to the protected user, but what if the protected user needs admin access? That happens to be my case. Nonetheless, I was willing to block admin access to fix the problem until you could tell me that YOU'VE done your job and taken care of it (you will tell me that, right?). But then I was left with Issue #1 (remember? the one where it only works 50% of the time at best?), so what's the point?
I thought I'd try reinstalling it again, just for fun. I've done this before and it's worked TEMPORARILY (tell me the truth, would you pay for an application that constantly had to be re-installed so that it would work for a while? the truth, now). Why am I not surprised that now even that simple process is f'ing up. I punch in my name and serial and it won't accept it. Is there no end to the awesomeness? Somehow, I think that there is not.
It's especially frustrating that there is no support number for me to call, forcing me to have to go through THIS process, which makes your job so much easier and is so much less helpful for your customers) just to get any answers... eventually.

How can i sort out the N lowiest elements from an 1D array faster than using the build in sort function (1D-array) in Labview?

I need an algorithm that is based on the same sorting-algorithm that Labview uses (or one that is just as fast) but it only needs to sort out the N lowiest elements (and the N-element output array don't need to be sorted).

I want all three zeros in the output. You can se the algorithm that I'm looking for as a soft version of Labviews own sort algorithm that only gives you the N (always less then the length of the array) lowiest values as output.If two elements contain the same small value both should be sorted out.

How to remove Sorting of the columns from Advance TAB

Hello Experts,
I have a simple question -
Have a report which produces results from values selected from prompt. The data in report is correct, however the ffirst 2 columns in the Report are being grouped by. So when a user downloads the Report in EXCEL, they see that the fiirst 2 columns are not populated in all the cells of the Excel and they have to populated them manually.
I have tried to remove the sort order in the Advance SQL tab, but without any luck. I have tried to rearrange the columns of the reports as well, but no luck as well
Any quick fix for this behaviour ?

Your subject shouldn't be that.. ;), if you are looking for repeating values for all the cells for that particular column
go to first 2 column properties > Column Format .
In "Value suppression" section, you'll find repeat option radio button. check that and click ok. Now test your report

How do I print only the events of a particular calendar, and not all the days in between listed?

I am working on a MacBook Pro. I have multiple calendars in my calendar. I am able to figure out how to print a list of events for a particular calendar, but the list includes listing all the dates in between as well. For example, I'd like to print a list of presentations I have coming up over the next 5 months. That yields a 9 page document. Although there may be only one presentation on a particular page, it also lists all the calendar dates, even if it doesn't have an event. Does this make sense?
Does anyone know how to deal with this?

How to find out all the OKCODEs for a particular screen?

I am working on t-code CL20N and trying to record with t-code SHDB, in the second screen when I press enter it is coming out, but when I run CL20N without SHDB it is going through all the screens perfectly, SHDB is not working for CL20N.
Is there any other way to find out all the OKCODEs for a particular screen/s?

First look for any push button or menu item which can take you to the second screen instead of hitting enter directly in tcode CL20N . If any such button exist in the TCode, u can use the same button in SHDB also for moving to the second screen.

In 4.6B we have a transaction code SE49, where we can see all the tables associated with particular Transaction code or Program.
But in ECC 5.0 or in ECC 6.0 this transaction code is not available.So is there any alternative where i can find out all the tables associated with particular T-code or Program.

you are right, Transaction SE49 as well as SE48 do not exist anymore I'm afraid, they
are discontinued.
You might try to create a transaction variant:
1) Start SE93 to create a transaction variant
2) Specify a name, eg. ZSE49, and choose the first option:
   "program and screen (dialog transaction)
3) Here specify SAPMSEUZ as program, and 200 as screen number
4) Choose a suitable development class (package) if you want it to be
   transportable or Local (=$TMP) if non-transportable
5) press Save
Same applies for SE48, same program but dynpro 100.
Sorry for not being able the reasons behind the decision to discontinue
these transactions. I suppose at least part of the functionality was
integrated in SE38.

I renamed songs in playlist but the original files aren't renamed. How can I sort out the originals?

I could really use some help. I'm trying to record an audio book of my second novel. I had about 300 audio tracks from recording the book in iTunes. I put them all in a playlist. Then I went through and delected the tracks that were no good from the Playlist and renamed the others so they were properly sorted by page number.
Unfortunately, I did not realize that 1) renaming tracks in a Playlist does not rename the actual original tracks, and 2) when I click "Show in Windows Explorer" not only is it the original file names, but they are mixed in with all the other tracks that I had deleted from the playlist.
Is there any way for me to isolate the tracks that are in the Playlist? I need to pull all those tracks out so I can import them into a music editing software program. I'm worried that all my time was wasted renaming the songs and now I can't figure out any way to group those tracks to import into another program.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

When you look at your iPhone, are you looking in the Music app or in the iTunes app? Be sure you are looking in the Music app, and look in the Songs category. If your songs are not here, you may want to try syncing your information again through iTunes. To do this, uncheck "Sync Music" and then click apply or sync in the bottom right corner of iTunes, and then recheck "Sync Music" and then click apply or sync again.

How do I sort photos the way I want them to appear within an Event? Sort Manually is always grayed out. SAR

Keep trying but sort manually stays grayed out. All I want to do is sort photos within one event the way I want them to appear.

It's like iTunes:
You can view an music album on iTunes and there are all the tracks. The hit single, the annoying filler that they stuck on, all there.
Or you can create a Playlist of just the singles, or tracks from various albums that work together well, or just your favourite tracks from different artists and so on.
In iPhoto: the Event has all the photos taken at that time. So, all 812 photos you took at the Wedding. All there.
An Album allows you to just use the 50 best ones, and possibly group them with 12 from the Rehearsal and five others from the day after. Just the best shots. Or bunch all the photos of the groom from birth to today, or all the photos of the bride and her dog. Or whatever. Really, the limit is your imagination.
Like Playlists in iTunes, images in an iPhoto album are simply referenced from the Library. So a photo can be in any number of albums and use no extra disk space.
Then, once you couple your imagination with metadata...
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
I keyword on a
Who
What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
File -> New Smart Album
set it to 'All"
title contains Seattle
keyword is mountain
keyword is snow
rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
New Smart Album
Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

How can I sort on the question mark?

I have catalogue of over 80,000 images and discoverd, this morning, that some are missing. Not merely in the wrong place, but rather, missing from the drive entirely; as if they had been deleted. Fortunately, I found them on a back-up drive. I copied them back into the principal drive and all is fine with those files. However, I worry that other files, in other folders, may be missing. So I want to search all folders (hundreds of them) in LR 4.4 to find if there are any other images that have the dreaded question mark. Thank you.

I'm not in a position to recommend anything, as I have no idea what you have done to get into that situation. At a minimum it looks as though you have created a differently-named version of a file (which is already cataloged), then perhaps moved them both to a different folder, then imported the differently-named version. Lightroom clearly thinks that the original file is still cataloged, but as you say that it and the other version are together in one folder, I can only think that Lightroom thinks the original file is in a different folder. Suggest you right-click on the "missing" original as select "Go to folder in library" and see what folder is highlighted in the Folders Panel. That may give you a clue as to what you did, and what to do now.
As to what to do next, well only you know why you have the modified-name duplicates, and thus how important they are to you. Have you done any development work on them, or applied other metadata? You'd lose all that if you delete them and re-import. You might want to consider smply removing the "missing" originals.
Second, I found several hundred missing files that are just grey. i.e. no thumbnails. I check using Windows Explorer and those images are not physically there at all. Should I just select all those grey "thumbnails" and delete them?

Again, I can't answer that. You have obviously either deleted or moved those files (maybe even the folders they were in), even before Lightroom had chance to build previews. If you don't know what or where they are now, I guess you have no option other than to remove them.
But seriously, if you continue to make changes to your image files outside Lightroom, you'll carry on getting this kind of trouble. You can do all these types of changes within Lightroom, which keeps it up-to-date and avoids such problems.

How can a cable tv provider recognize the presence of the AV adapter and hence blockning the mirroring of the IPad screen?

I am using the Xfinity Play app to acces Comcast/xfinity material.
IPad refuse to mirror its screen picture but let the sound through.
Instead the TV display the text 'you are not permitted to use this material on a non mobile unit.'
If I use a non-Apple AV adapter the problem is gone.
How come that Xfinity recognize the presence of a non mobile unit in one case but not in another?
Does Apple deliberately provide the source. with this information?

That is what the content providers want and hit has nothing to do with Apple.
The ATV certainly is not about cutting the cord, it is not a replacement for cable/satellite or OTA TV.

When I sort a column of figures, it sorts by the first digit. How do I get it to sort by the whole number?

I have a column of numbers, Specifically: 5.2, 42.0, 25.5, 2.4, 11.8, 0.9, 0.5. Notice how it has sorted by the first digit, not the whole number. In other words 5.2 is ranked higher than 42, because 5 is larger than 4. What do I turn on or off to make it behave sensibly?

Are the cells formatted as Text (left aligned, as in Column B)?
Data Format in Column C
Column C will sort as Number.

How to find Sort order in material master UOM

Hi,
Can any one tell me how to find the sort order for unit of measurement for UOM in additional data tab in material master.
If you see the db table, its stored in another order other than how its displayed on the screen.

It appears that it is sorting on the MSEHI in the t006a. This is the internal representation of the UOM. It is doing the same in the material master, you just can't see the internal field there.    In my system here is how it is sorting.    The commerical is what you see in the material master, the internal is what it is sorted by.
