I linux inode which contains 13 member array wich stores the actual block address of data .Similarly in windows how data is managed in disk ?. How many members in this array ?

    Hello Vijay Nerkar,
Your question is not related to Windows Forms General. What is the data you mean and also what is that array?
If you are looking for something related to Windows File System, see some words here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_system
    For example
    "Windows makes use of the
    FAT, NTFS,
exFAT and ReFS file systems (the last of these is only supported and usable in
Windows Server 2012; Windows cannot boot from it).
Windows uses a drive letter abstraction at the user level to distinguish one disk or partition from another. For example, the
path <tt>C:\WINDOWS</tt> represents a directory <tt>WINDOWS</tt> on the partition represented by the letter C. Drive C: is most commonly used for the primary hard disk partition, on which Windows is usually installed and from which it boots. This "tradition"
has become so firmly ingrained that bugs exist in many applications which make assumptions that the drive that the operating system is installed on is C. The use of drive letters, and the tradition of using "C" as the drive letter for the primary hard disk
    partition, can be traced to
MS-DOS, where the letters A and B were reserved for up to two floppy disk drives. This in turn derived from
CP/M in the 1970s, and ultimately from IBM's
    CP/CMS of 1967.
For more details, consider consult on MS Answers:

  • How many gbs should this take?

Hi! I just got a new iBook G4 with a 40gb hard drive. I absolutely love it! It's my first personal Mac! I had to reinstall the Tiger and iLife and everything else that came with the basic package when you purchase through Apple, because the system was set-up in another language. When I was done, I only had 26 gb left. That seems really low to me....is this what I should have left? Or if not, what do you think is going on? What can I do? And how can i fix it?

when you install mac os x you get it installed in every language (so you get french, german, japanese etc. as well) if you only use english (or whatever your native language is) these add up to 1.1GB then you can uncheck these, also mac os x installs printer drivers for every printer make (so you can uncheck these this will save another few GB.
Also when you reinstall the system it gives a complete backup of the old backup copy somewhere if you did an Archive and install (which you probably did).
You can also remove the other printer drivers and languages you will need to reinstall the system again (i think) This will increase the amount of free space by a few GB...
PS a 40GB disk isn't actually 40GB as 1kb according to computers is 1024bytes (2^10bytes actually) but Hard disc manufacturers say 1kb is 1000 byte,
Basically without going into the maths by the time you get to Gigabytes a 40GB hard disk is only actually about 37GB.
PPS if you don't have any file on your ibook yet you could try an erase and install which will delete everything as Tom Gewecke suggested
    I hope this is useful

  • Up to how many devices can this one download be used for?

I have a iMac and a air and want now do have download this software twice or can I just buy it once and use it for both.

You can use it on as many Macs as you own with the same user ID. I would suggest to download it once and copy the installer BEFORE you hit install because it will self destruct after the install. Before install, you will find it in your Applications folder - copy it to a safe place and you can use it again (instead of having to download it again).

To expand on that, you can install it on two machines but you're only allowed to run it on one machine at a time. In fact, if you have both copies running and the machines connected to the same network, you will get an error message and the application will quit.

  • When opened, my image appears black with a few red lines at the top, yet the thumbnail looks as it should be. How do I fix this?

I have been working on an illustration in Photoshop for a few months now. When I tried to open it yesterday it came up as a single layered black image with a few red lines at the top. I have no idea what this is. I have not even used red in my artwork. However, no matter how many times open this file, the thumbnail still looks like my artwork, as it should be. How do I fix this? Will I be able to get my artwork back? Please help! Thank you in advance.

Make sure you has the latest Windows Device driver for your display adapted from its manufacturer's web site installed on your system. Perhaps you updated the device driver with a Microsoft Windows Update.   Microsoft update does not always install the correct update needed fpr Phoroshop.

  • If I purchase Adobe Standard, how many computers can I install it onto? And is there any way of buy an additional subscription? i.e. if it can only be installed onto two, is it possible to purchase a third installation?

The company I work for are looking to purchase Adobe Standard, how many computers can this be installed onto? We need it on three computers so if it is only possible to install it onto two is it possible to install it onto a third computer without having to buy the software twice?
    Thanks

    Hi There,
We would like to inform you that you can just activate 2 machines with one subscription, however, you can just use one at a time.
If you wish to use the 3 machine, then, you would have to purchase another subscription with a different email address.
You would need another email address, because the activation is done via email address and more than two activation on 1 email is not possible.
Please revert if you need any more information on this.
    Thanks,

    Double-click on the name.
My screen shot shows both devices because I sync wirelessly.  Right now I can change the iPod name but not the iPad name because the iPod is idle while the iPad is syncing.  In another minute or two, I'll be able to change the iPad name.

    Thank u a lot Paul.
But this is not the asnwer that I search for.
    I'll explain more:
    1. I have installed Oracle DB 10g and Oracle Forms 10g.
    2. I built a form (by a data block connected to DB) called person and saved it at F:\work.
    3. I run the OC4J from Start >> Oracle Developer Suite >> Forms Builder.
    4. I opened the FireFox Browser at another computer connected to my computer by a LAN, and then wrote the form link:
    http://<my_host_name or my_ip>:8889/forms90/f90servlet?form=F:\work\person
    5. the form works successfully at this computer.
My Question is: If I want to do the step no 4 for other many computers, how many computers can this OC4J instance carry?

    hi *,
we have mass deleted messages yesterday by an internal java program. now my some of my JMQ managers have a txnack file of remarkeable size. will this ever shrink to normal size again?
how do we get rid of this? what has the custom client done wrong when deleting/consuming messages?
    regards chris

    hi linda,
    thanks for immediate response.
    1) we are facing a file with 2,8 in workds twopointeight --> 2800 MB (not 8)
    2) dump does not work :-( the version i use does not support that command
    imqcmd -b localhost:39176 dump db -o file=XXXXX
Error [A3021]: Bad command specified: dump3) list txn gives the following
    imqcmd -b localhost:39176 list txn
    Username: admin
    Password: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Listing all the transactions on the broker specified by:
    Host         Primary Port
    localhost    39176
There are no transactions to list.4) normally 1-10 messages / transaction in this case an incredible huge number like 10000 - 30000
--> as a result of this we (in production) should never face this problem in the wild. this originally was caused by our "cleanup script" that to a certain point of time (sunday endo of week) just consumes all unconsumed messages in outr devel environment
    5) we are running a cluster BUT particular this case happened in a SJAS domain of CAPS V6 (embedded mode)
the client was an external java programm
    6) VERSION i think we are using the same binaries for embedded and non embedded do you know how to detect embedded version?

Did you replace the HD yourself? If so what HD did you use?
You should be aware that the symptom you describe is likely to be because you've used an incompatible HD. The current Macs have the temperature sensor actually in the HD package, with a modified cable to connect to the logic board.
If the sensor is not in circuit, the fans will run full tilt all the time.
Also, if it was under warranty, I think you'll find you've just voided it.

  • How many copies of 10.2.8 can I have on one HDD? To partition or not to ...

    Hi,
I hope that this makes sense to those who read it. If, it doesn't then, please - someone say so. In case some of you recognize my monicker it has been a good while since I visited and asked for help.
Kappy, I didn't understand everything - had some health issues thus, I couldn't followup?
I have finally installed my Seagate internal, thus my return visit.
I have just installed a Seagate Barracuda 7200, 120 GB HDD. I've made it my master drive. I've partitioned it into four parts. 1) for OS 10.2, 2) for 10.3, 3) for 10.4 and 4) for OS 9. I have not yet put it to use. I made my original Deskstar 40GB the slave, it has three partitions. 1) for 10.2, 2) for OS 9 and legacy 3rd party apps and 3) for photos and videos. I also have an Maxtor One-Touch II External 300 GB FW for backup. Long story - it has 4 partitions, 1) 10.2, 2) 10.3 and .4, 3) for video and photo storage and 4) for OS 9.
    I have several questions.
    1) How many copies of OS 10.2.8 can I have on any one drive - is my Seagate and my Deskstar now considered to be one drive?
1b) Can I have OS 10.2.8 (on both? of them)?
1c) Can I have 10.2.8 on that/both of those drives without causing conflicts or any other problems?
    2) I've been reading through the discussions to see if I could find an answer to any of these questions. What I did find was several different topics that include references about not partitioning new drives.
2a) What are the advantages to partitioning and what are the potential problems/disadvantages created by partitioning a new HDD?
2b) Isn't it necessary to partition a HDD if I'm going to have 10.2, 10.3(maybe), 10.4 and OS 9 all on the same HDD?
2c) Aren't there going to be conflicts especially because of OS 9 and 10.4 being on the same partition?
I will appreciate all replies, corrections, suggestions and requests for clarifications and/or request for additional info.
    Thanks,
    J Ivan
P.S. I'm now going to bed and I won't be back on-line until late this afternoon.

1c) Can I have 10.2.8 on that/both of those drives without causing conflicts or any other problems?
You cannot have more than one copy of OS X on a single volume (partition), but you can install any number of versions of OS X on separate volumes (partitions.)
    2) I've been reading through the discussions to see if I could find an answer to any of these questions. What I did find was several different topics that include references about not partitioning new drives.
2a) What are the advantages to partitioning and what are the potential problems/disadvantages created by partitioning a new HDD?
There are no inherent advantages to partitioning in general except that it may provide a convenient means for organization. However, if you desire to install multiple operating systems, partitioning is necessary to keep each OS separate and to enable you to use OPTION booting. The exception to this is installing OS X and OS 9 on the same volume.
2b) Isn't it necessary to partition a HDD if I'm going to have 10.2, 10.3(maybe), 10.4 and OS 9 all on the same HDD?
    Yes. See previous answers.
2c) Aren't there going to be conflicts especially because of OS 9 and 10.4 being on the same partition?
No. And there would be no problems having OS 9 and 10.4 on the same volume. If they are on the same volume you simple cannot use OPTION booting to switch between them.

  • How many hdd's can I install in Quicksilver

Have the SIIG Serial ATA 4 Channel PCI-M card running one 250GB HDD at the present with 1 running off the original system bus. How many can I add total to this system? Owners manual states I can run only 2 total in this machine. Is it true that now I can add a large HDD to the original bay without using the SIIG card and whole capacity will be recognized?
    G4 Quicksilver 733 896mb ram   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi
You should be able to install four hard drives fairly easily.
You can physically fit four into the case, one in the front bay, one in the middle bay and two in the rear bay (one on top of the other in the U shaped bracket).
Assuming you don't have a Zip drive installed, you have the Molex power connectors for four drives, although you may need an extension cable so the power connector that's intended for the Zip drive will reach one of the hard drives. If you do have a Zip drive installed, you'd need a splitter cable to power two drives off one cable.
You have the data connectors for at least four drives. Two ATA drives can be connected to the onboard ATA controller and four SATA drives can be connected to the SATA PCI card (assuming it's a four port version).
The capacity limitation still applies to drives connected to the onboard ATA controller via the ribbon cable. Large drives can be added to any bays, but they must be connected to the PCI card for the full capacity to be recognised.
The manual probably says two ATA drives can be installed (using the onboard ATA controller) or three SCSI drives can be installed (using the supplied SCSI PCI card if relevant). There's no reason why you can't add additional drives using a SATA PCI card.
