How to effect parameter changes

Hi Friends,
I just changes parameter open_cursors to 500 in oracle EM and click apply button.
However it does not affect system. How to apply changes in system. we can not stop database server.

There is no need to stop or bounce(stop start) the database.
ALTER SYSTEM SET OPEN_CURSORS=value; will do.

Very Good morning!!!
I have designed a crystal report with static parameters. Earlier i used to have a dropdown kind of input selection for my parameters.
Now i got a new requirement for a direct input in the field....tht means no dropdown ...single date field is to be entered directly.
Accordingly i have removed the dropdown and changed to a single direct date field. I saved these changes to a request and transported to quality. Not sure whether the parameter changes are collected into a request.
Whereas i couldn't found any changes of my parameters in quality. They are as same dropdown manner in the quality whereas i need them to be a direct field date entry which did not affected the quality server after transporting the changes.
Could some one please let me know how to reflect these changes in quality server regarding parameter changes in a crystal report for BW.

How to effectively document changes to roles?

Hey Folks,
We are looking for a way to capture the changes in the roles as part of projects and defects.
We are considering the approach through storing the information in tables AGR_1251 ,AGR_TCODES, AGR_1252 and AGR_DEFINE in an excel sheet .But this is a cumbersome approach ..
Can people share how changes to the roles documented in their systems?

Raj,
There are several ways to due this however you may want take a look at the different approaches and then form your standard based on the requirements you need.
Personally I'm not a big fan of tracking role changes in spreadsheets. As you state it is very cumbersome and it will it may become out of sync with what is actually in the role--depending on how it's maintained.
One approach is to define a documentation requirement directly in the role itself.
Add a new line to the long text role description on the description tab of the role every time a change is made to the role.
The is line may look similar to the following:
Date, (change request/ticket number), identifier of project or defect, description of change
Example:
04/03/2007 123456 Project Add tcode SU10 to security admin role
This information can then be extracted from the AGR_TEXTS table for reporting.

How to remove or change wipe effect in MenuBar?

Does anyone know how to remove or change the default wipe
effect in Flex 3's MenuBar? I've seen several mentions online about
an openDuration property in the Menu class, but not in MenuBar. I
would greatly prefer to have either no effect or just a very brief
fade.
A solution in either MXML or ActionScript would be greatly
appreciated.

We had an old version of Dreamweaver (DW-MX) in which I have found the layer. It apears to be an image made in Photoshop.
The way I solved the problem now is that I deleted the layer in DW-MX and made a new background image. I am no pro, just an amateur

what do you mean by 'change pointer'? normally this idiom is used for sending ÍDOCs from one system/client/org-unit to another ...
do you generally want to record changes to a specific table? then set parameter rec/client using RZ10 for your instance profiles and restart the instances in order for the parameter to take effect.
set the table to 'record all changes' using SE11.
you might re-consider if the table has a lot of data and is accessed very often for performance-resons.
change protocols can be evaluated using tx, SCU3.

Quantity effectivity parameter for ECM (LO-ECH)

Our company uses Engineering Change Master records with no parameter effectivity (just by the date) to control BOM changes effectivity. Recently we received internal request to add ability to control ECM effectivity by quantity of assemblies produced.
The business case can be described with an example:
BOM:
Line item: 0010 component: material1 valid from: 01/01/2009 valid to: 12/31/9999
Line item: 0010 component: material2 valid from: 08/01/2009 quantity: 300 pcs
Explanation:
The line item 0010 of the BOM has u201Cmaterial1u201D assigned valid from the 1st January. A request comes from the customer to produce 300 pieces of the assembly with material2 instead of material1. Start of the production was scheduled to the 1st of August. Once 300 pieces are built material1 is set back to line item 0010 of the BOM.
We are aware that production orders covers this scenario well but the request came from a business unit that runs repetitive production (no production orders).
Our research of SAP provided effectivity parameters showed that none fulfills this requirement. We are looking for your advise how this requirement can be accomplished u2013 either with new ECM effectivity parameter or any other mean.

Dear Jaime S,
You can do this by restricting in authorization SHDO and also by marking "changes not possible after release" in Release strategy procedure.
And also you can navigate the menu to, SPRO------>IMG------>Material Management--->Purchasing(OLME)------->Purchase Order---->Define screen Layouts at Document Level---->And go to ME22n And Select the right parameter and in this you can make it display, optional or required entry for the fields.

Please let me know how to restrict the change access in CRM for the orders that are created in ECC. The ECC orders will only for display in CRM but not for change,
We have the orders that are created in ECC, it will flows to CRM and should restrict the access to get in to the change mode in CRM but as of now CRM system is allowing change mode for ECC orders and ending up with errors.
Is there any additional middleware parameter that needs to be added to SMOFPARSFA table to get this functionality! Please advice! Thank your for your help.

How to identify a change on parameters value using match code

Hi everybody,
I would like to know if it's possible to identify automatically a change on a parameters using match code.
For example : In my wiew i set XXX in my parameters, so i execute XXX treatment. Now if i change this value to YYY, i would like to treat the YYY treatment without press enter key.
My requirement is the following : According to the values filled in this parameters, i need to display different views in my WD application. So when this value changes, it's neccesary to modify the displayed views.
Does anybody can help me on this problem ?

i think ,when you start a application with application parameters your first requirement is realized. However , the second requirement need more clarity.
When you start a application with parameter XXX, the application is displaying a view-X. How and who will change the value of XXX. Without triggering a roundtrip to server you cannot check the value if it is changed and on top of it, you can not bring new view assembly So keep this in mind and design your application..

How to pass parameter as http POST in pageContext.setForwardURL

I am passing parameter to the page using hash map table. That application is expecting the parameters in POST format and I believe using hash map table the parameters will be passed as GET format.
We figured that out because one of the parameter we have to send is AppSignature which is 160 characters long. When third party applicatoin received that parameter they got only 151 characters, looks like they are truncated by GET method.
Any idea how to pass parameter using POST format so that this issue could be fixed.

Thanks for your reply. I have resolved this issue by forwarding all parameters in session using pageContext.putSessionValueDirect and redirect to a jsp using pageContext.redirectImmediately.
in jsp I read the params from session and set in the form , and then redirected to my third party application.

- Under 'Process the following objects', choose 'Checked out by anyone'
- Also check the check box '... also Checked In objects'
- Choose whether you want to automatically check out with or without lock
If this does not help, please run the utility with log level 'Debug Detailed' (can also be set in the User Preferences) and report the last few lines of the log messages. They should give an indication of why the check out does not succeed.

There is a database parameter that define the dependency model of changes in stored procedures. I don't remember its name though.
One of its setting will let you run your form without the need to recompile if the stored procedure changed.

Please register for a "real" user account rather than the anonymous user7266483.
You can not change it on the export...this is simply set to whatever is in effect in the DB.
However, it is totally unnecessary to change it on export. If the database into which you need to import the exported application is "ISO-8859-1 - Europa Ocidental", at the time you begin to import, it will default to "ISO-8859-1 - Europa Ocidental". You need to change this to the character set under which it was exported. In this case, it was "Unicode UTF-8".
It does not matter that you export and import in the same character set. It only matters that you correctly set the import to match how it was exported.
