How to effectively document changes to roles?

Hey Folks,
We are looking for a way to capture the changes in the roles as part of projects and defects.
We are considering the approach through storing the information in tables AGR_1251 ,AGR_TCODES, AGR_1252 and AGR_DEFINE  in an excel sheet .But this is a cumbersome approach ..
Can people share how changes to the roles documented in their systems?

Raj,
There are several ways to due this however you may want take a look at the different approaches and then form your standard based on the requirements you need.
Personally I'm not a big fan of tracking role changes in spreadsheets.  As you state it is very cumbersome and it will it may become out of sync with what is actually in the role--depending on how it's maintained.
One approach is to define a documentation requirement directly in the role itself. 
Add a new line to the long text role description on the description tab of the role every time a change is made to the role.
The is line may look similar to the following:
Date, (change request/ticket number), identifier of project or defect, description of change
Example:
04/03/2007   123456  Project    Add tcode SU10 to security admin role
This information can then be extracted from the AGR_TEXTS table for reporting.

    There is no need to stop or bounce(stop start) the database.
    ALTER SYSTEM SET OPEN_CURSORS=value; will do.

    Hard to say what is happening without examining the file.

    Documents in Firefox format do not open automatically in the preview pane. Why? Also, I don't want my documents changed from the original format. How do I change them back and how do I keep this from happening again. I don't want to have to select a different format every time I try to open a document. That is a pain in the neck. I want to "click to open" and the document be in it's original format. If necessary I will go back to one of the other browsers I have used in the past. As I don't want multiple browsers on my computer it would be necessary to uninstall Firefox. I like it so far other than you all hijacking my documents and altering the way they open. You also might want to remember that even the "legitimate" folks on the internet are seen as predatory, i.e., gathering information, tricking us into installing crap we don't want or need, and in some cases, requiring a specific program to open a specific document. I'd be working very hard to show you are trustworthy. If you have a solution to this and it is complex then you will be wasting your time and my time trying to explain it. You guys created this so, if I'm going to use Firefox, you fix it on your end. FYI, if I have to uninstall Firefox I will, when asked, strongly recommend against using your service. Thank you.

    Do you mean PDF documents?
    The installer was supposed to add Firefox as an ADDITIONAL viewer for PDFs, not as the DEFAULT viewer. Sorry you were affected by this glitch and hopefully they will figure out why some systems get changed this way.
    You can try this fix suggested by a user in another thread:
    # Open Adobe Reader / Acrobat*
    # Edit->Preferences
    # In the Categories column click 'General'
    # Near the bottom of the page click the button marked 'Select Default PDF Handler'
    # In the dialog, select 'Adobe Reader XI' (or Adobe Acrobat, as the case may be) and click 'Apply'
    # A Windows Configuration screen will appear. Allow it to do its stuff (takes a few minutes), then restart your computer when prompted.

    hello, friend.
    you should be able to see changes done after the initial creation and saving, by going thru Environment > Changes.  try it again, and this time make sure that changes were done to the billing document prior to posting to accounting.
    normally, when configuration of Billing is done correctly, there will be little or no instances of changing anything in the Billing document,  as saving the document after creation will post this to Accounting.  of course, inclusion of a posting block in the billing type will provide you the opportunity for changes.

    I also have some doubts about the business object.In this case,one abstract BO hase a subnode wihich is root extended.I added the change document for this node under the category "root_extended" and then tested the function in BOBT.I got some error message "can't find the root key".Shall i redefine the method /BOFU/IF_CDO_CREATION~IS_CDO_CREATION_ACTIVE so as to solve the problem?

    If you still have the .doc files, it might be best to send those to your recipients so they can be edited. Otherwise, you can use ExportPDF to convert the PDF files back to .doc format. But, again, that step would be unnecessary if you have the .doc files.

    Due to some reason after creation of Purchase Order, the event handler is not created in EM system. Now is there any way to resend this PO to EM? For example, is it possible to trigger Event Handler by changing some field in PO?     Hello Ravi,
    if you change the PO Header/Item the respective EH  should be created if the Relevance condition is fullfilled.
    I'm not sure if it also works in the case that you change the PO Header and EH for PO Items will be created.

    You are probably only looking at a graphic. You have to run OCR before you can do the corrections. For your use, you would need the ClearScan option. Once you have a text based document, you can then use the Text Touchup Tool. Expect to have problems. Editing a PDF is not easy to do well and is not really recommended, except for minor edits. Wordwrap and such features are not part of the editing options. It would be best if you could get an electronic copy of the original, edit that, then create a new PDF.

    I want to have one role which generates a tab called "Budget Development" under this tab depending on the users other assigned roles I want from 1 to 3 addition tabs or selections to appear. Based opn user assigned Roles
    When I create 3 additional roles, and assign them to the Parent Role (Budget  Development) all 3 tabs appear evenif the addional roles are not assigned to the user.
    Role 1 "Budget Development"
                Role 1.1 "Budget Add"
                Role 1.2  "Budget Change"
                Role 1.3  " Budget Delete"
    I have access to all 3 tabs/selection and the functionality when I am assigned the 1 role of "Budget Development"
    How do I selectivly Display Sub-Roles based on Portal Roles and permissions etc.

    Hi Sarah,
                 You can achieve this by the 'Merged Role Concept'.
    1)Create 3 roles with the same name say "Budget Development" which will have different ID's though.
    -Under the role properties set the "Merge ID" for each role. The mergeID has to be the same for all the 3 roles.
    2) Now create 3 worksets say "Budget Add", "Budget Change" and " Budget Delete".
    - and assign each of these worksets to 3 different roles that we have first defined.
    Now depending upon which user needs what access you can assign the roles. The user will see one role but different worksets underneath based upon what he has been assigned.
    -Let me know if you have any further issues with this.

    now to the question
    Ok so I will describe my problem as best as I can.
    I have 2 Servers Both 2012 R2 Standard 1 is Primary Domain controller and one is the Secondary Domain controller. I had everything set up on the domain and the Primary Domain controller was set up as the DNS on ALL clients (Static).
    Recently I set up the secondary domain controller with Essentials. All went well I added all the clients to connect with Essentials. a few days went by and now all of a sudden all the Static DNS's are all changed to the Essentials box.
    This Really wouldn't be a problem to me except the performance level of that DNS is EXTREAMLY slow. I run to all clients and change the static back and everything works great. then a little while goes by and all DNS's are again to the Essentials box.
    SO my question would be. Is there any way to configure the Essentials box to stop redirecting the DNS to itself and keep the Primary domain controller as the DNS

    We had an old version of Dreamweaver (DW-MX) in which I have found the layer. It apears to be an image made in Photoshop.
    The way I solved the problem now is that I deleted the layer in DW-MX and made a new background image. I am no pro, just an amateur
