How to extend material in storage location automatically???

Dear Gurus,
We have 9 plants in this company.
Every time we create a material we have to extend it in all plants.
Because it takes to long to do this one by one with MM01 we use mm17 and we created there a variant that extends the materials in all plants automatically.
Then we have 3 storage locations for each plant. we use MMSC: enter storage locations collectively, to extend each the material in all the storage locations of the company 9x3 = 27. This takes too long as a procedure.
Is there a way to automate this procedure, via rutines, codes, variants, ABAP etc??? and how should I do that??

In customization spro>>MM>>inventory management>>Plant parameters>>select your plant >>click on create storage location automatically
click that one, if your not extended the material to the particular storage location and doing the goods receipt to the particular storage location system will allow you to do that

Hi Experts,
Currently we're inprocess of implementing "create storage location automatically" for reservation, and I've done with the configuration for both reservation side (Define Default Values) and movement type side (GI/transfer posting - Create Storage Location Automatically).
For movement type 201, new storage location successfully extended/created using T-Code MB21 (Create Reservation). But we found an error message while conducting the same thing for movement type 261 (which only can be created using T-Code IW31 (Create material reservation form Work Order).
Did we missed any required configuration? Pls kindly advice on what we should do.

Here's the current situation,
We configured the plant/storage view (SPRO), most of materials already extended to desired plant and storage location. Commonly, we can extend or create any materials for certain plant and/or storage location by maitain material master data (using T-Code MM01).
Recently, we develop the additional configuration to activate "automatic create storage location" for reservation, aligning with the movement type for Goods Issue (201,221,261,301,etc).
Let's say we have material number 123456789 and currently assigned to plant YYYY, but not extended to storage location XXXX. By performing T-Code MB21 (create reservation) with movement type 201 inputted, the respective material (123456789) is automatically created for the XXXX storage location.
But the above condition is not effected while performing the same thing using T-Code IW31 (create material reservation via Work Order) with movement type 261 (GI for Order).
Any idea to perform create storage location automatically while creating reservation for movement type 261? is there any possible configuration or procedure to be added?

Dear,
You can extend material for new storage location via MMSC.
Ans if you want to extend list of material for storage location you can use MMSC_MASS.
If you want to extend material for plant you can use MM01 - for single material and MM50 - For multiple materials.

Use t.code:MM01 and in Copy From Field Give Material No ( u wan to copy) and in Next Screen Give Extending Plant & Storage Location and in Copy From Fields give Reference Plant & Storage Location.

Function of create Storage Location Automatically

Whats the function of the following Tab in SPRO.
SPRO- Materials management - Inventory management and Physical Inventory - Goods issue/Transfer Posting - Create Storage Location Automatically

This is the case for, if you work with negative stocks and a material's first movement may be an outward movement that is Goods issue or Transfer posting.
If the material master record is not extended to the storage location which is giving at the time of goods issue / transpfer posting, system won't allow to post the document. First you have to maintain material master record for that SL, then only system will allow postings.
In such cases if the material master record is not created for the storagelocation, SAP having facility like that system can update / create SL data for that materila master record automatically by the system during GI / TP postings.
For that you have to activate SL Create automatically checkbox aganist Plant as well as Movement type. You have activate in both the settings, then only system will update/create SL data in the MMR.
If the Negative postings allowed means eventhough stock is not there, system will allow to issue stock and inventory will show with negative sign.
For ex: Stock is zero. You have issue 25 with the movement type 201, system will allow to issue the stock. But inventory will show -25 for that material (Check in MMBE).
This is case for, if you work with negative stocks and a material's first movement may be an outward movement that is Goods issue or Transfer posting. Then only these setting will helpful.

For extension of material individually for single material and plant go for MMSC
This will work for 1 material , 1 Plant and Multiple Slocs but these have to be given manually.
2>
For for mass extension at sloc level for Material Code use : MMSC_MASS
In this T Code extend all the matcodes to all Sloc of ONE respective Plant

In SPRO, if I select the storage location automatically option (in movement type and in plant), when the systems creates the data automatically, where the data comes from?

in the moment when you perform the first movement to this storage location, then SAP will extend the material master. Most fields in the material master storage location view are not storage location specifc, the are kept at client or plant level. Only a few fields are storage location specific. you either have to complete those fields later manually or you must not activate auto storage location creation .

The views depend to material type. So you need update in the material type attributes.
SPRO - Logistic General - Material Master - Basic Settings - Material Types - Define Attributes of Material Types
Double click on the material type and update the views in 'User Departments'.

Detetion material from storage location

Hi All ,
I wanted to delete a material from a storage location .Can any one suggest me to delete material from storage location other than blocking material for storage location using MM06 .I suppose that it can not done by using MMSC.

If you created an material by error and you want to delete that material from the data base you can do it in this simple 4 steps. The only condition is that this material has to have no material movement recorded.
These are the steps:1
1) Flag material for deletion. transaction MM06
2) Run report MMREO001 - Selection of materials flagged for deletion and select the material
3) Run report MMREO050 Archive Materials to archive the material (some customisig settings might be required)
4) Run report MMREO110 Deletion Program for Archiving Materials to delete the material from the database.
These reports are called by the SARA transaction too.

Material Master Record - How to remove or delete storage location

Dear all,
Is there a way to remove or delete a storage location accidentally extended via MM01 due to extending the general plant view?
I've tried the following:
1. I've used MM06 to flag the particular storage lcoation for deletion. However, when go to MM02 and select the plant view, the storage location that already been flag still exist for selection. I only get the warning prompt "The storage location has been flag for deletion".
2. I tried MMSC attempt to delete and I get either messages with different material master record:
a) "Material not fully maintained for this transaction/event"
OR
b) "Storage location 60BF already exists and cannot be deleted"
P/S: If this question has been asked before by others, please point me to that thread.

I've gone through the data archiving project in the past. I was actually hoping I don't have to go through this big exercise for this minor situation.
The storage locations in the SAP system are fine. The problem is that when I came in to this organization, I found out that the procurement users have accidentally extended material master record to those storage location irrelevant to them. Those users don't post any stock to those accidentally extended storage location. They admit that it was a mistake. So, I don't really have to do stock movement or GI out from those affected storage location because there's nothing in them.
Now that I've initially flag for deletion (MM06) of those mistakes done by those procurement users over the few years counting to 2000+ material master records affected. But the standard behavior of the SAP system allows change to proceed in MM02 except for that warning message MM081. So, I was actually asking around to explore if there's actually an option to make it an error prompt instead and stop the whole change process at MM02 transaction level.
If I may re-confirm, what I've done so far via flaging for deletion of material master record at storage location level - is this the only correct solution available?
Hope this clarifies my intention of opening this thread. Sometimes, users are quite tough in accepting the results from standard SAP system behavior.

Different storage location automatically pick for same material code

As per my requirement,
We have two storage locations i.e Return Location and Finished Location and single plant and single shipping point.
At the time of Normal delivery system should be automatic picked Finished Location and return delivery system have to pick Return Location only.
I tried to do Storage location determination but system is not picking correct location. Kindly guide me.

Go to MM01 trxn enter Material Number and press enter and in the next screen select the plant/storage view
here maintain the plant & storage location
press Enter
you will see the Plant/Storage Screen
enter the details and SAVE
You can also use MMSC trxn code for the Same

Archiving material master - storage location

Hi experts,
I am in process of archiving storage locations of few material codes which are split valuated.
Actually material/s are extended to 3-4 storage location and one storage location has to be removed from the same.
i am using transaction code SARA with archiving object MM_MATNR and getting following error -
plant/storage location dependent batch records exist.
please suggest how to correct the error
relevant solution will suitably be rewarded please.

I had not spoken about the tick for delete in test mode in the selection screen.
I spoke about the variants for test and production run in customizing to your archiving object.
If the variant that is saved for production run, has the tick for test run, then it just will not work.
Further you should select X Complete for Detail log and list for P_PROT_O,
This way you should get spool file that tells you more about errors or succesfull archived items.
What did you do with the box in from of "Consider batch record without deletion flag" ?
If empty, are you sure you have manually set the deletion indicator in MSC2N?
What about the other boxes in this options section?

If I want to extend one material for different plant/sales org/storage location then how can i do this . Same for the customer , if i want to extend that customer for other sales areas then how can i do that ?

Hi,
You can extend material to different plant and sales organisation by using the T.Code "MM01".
Enter the material number you want to extend and enter the same under copy from.Press Enter.
Select the required views and enter new the plant and Sales organisation you want to extend.
In a similar way,you can extend customer data as well.

senario description: in my project there two production plants A and B.and use the one serial work center which created under the plant A.At the same time ,raw material were stored the defferent storage location in every plant.and the storage location linked with WMS.my question is:
1how to design the supply area,create one links many storage location or create one supply area for every storage location.
2whether the TR can be created automatically when release the production order if the produciton order is in the plant B.

To design supply area one storage location can be assigned to several supply area however one supply area cannot be assigned to several storage locations.
2whether the TR can be created automatically when release the production order if the produciton order is in the plant B.
To create TR automatically you have to configure at movement type & storage type level.
