How to extract beginning balances fdmee 11.1.2.3

Been struggling with this with no luck. We need to import ebusiness suite beginning balances via fdmee to Hyperion planning.
FFdmee allows ytd and I can use an adjustment period for previous year to map it to a beginning balance member but ebusiness suite ending balances for bqlance sheet accounts (retained earnings) does not equal the starting balance of the next year. Somehow EBS adjusts the balance and they are different. Anyway fdmee can pull the opening balance without having to create it from taking the prior years ytd balance?? Is there an actual beg bal field I'm just not Seeing?

So on the Retained Earnings piece - is the account tagged as an Asset in EBS?
After you close December (assuming a Jan-Dec year) EBS should be sweeping any profit into Retained Earnings are move that into the starting bal of the next period. Does the balance you are looking at for RE in DEC incorporate the swept profit of the DEC P&L? I would guess that it is not?
Also - for period mapping - try creating one for Period 13 for a Year and pulling that in...

  • FI_MONTHLY archive extracts beginning balance

    Hi All,
    We have run FI_MONTHLY for 2003 until 2008 and we realized that it actually extract our beginning balance in 2009. As result, our ending balance in 2009 now is wrong.
    Is this behavior expected? If yes, then how to prevent the ending balance of these balance sheet accounts to be changed?
    Thanks,
    CW

    Hi All,
    Actually we have run FI_DOCUMNT and FI_MONTHLY from 2003 until 2008 and at this point, the balances is still correct. But when we run archive FI_DOCUMNT and FI_MONTHLY in 2009, the beginning balance is missing.
    Since we are now in 2010, does it mean that we should not archive 2009 for both FI_DOCUMNT and FI_MONTHLY AT ALL?
    Thanks,

  • How to show beginning balance?

    I want to show a 12-month trending report showing how many accounts we have month by month cumulatively since the beginning of 2005. The beginning and ending month can be any 12 month period.
    I have two columns in the report: Year/Month and Count columns. For the count column, I used the formula RSUM(COUNT("Create_date")). I have "is prompt" filter on the CREATE_DATE. My dashboard prompt for CREATED_DATE is "between" operator.
    So if the report is from 2009-10 through 2010-09, the report will give me the count for all the accounts created in 2009-10. For 2009-11, it will give me the cum count from 2009-10. And so on.
    As you see, the above won't give me the cum count for all the accounts created from 2005.
    The question is: how do I get a cum count for each month starting from 2005, let's say, and yet show the report only for a 12-month period?

  • How to Carry Forward Beginning Balances for CTA

    Hi Experts,
    We're doing a multi-currency AppSet wherein I need to carry forward the ending balances of the cumulative translation adjustment to it's beginning balance the next year but the problem is:
    1. CTA resides only in USD reporting currency(not in LC).
    2. My carry forward rules applies only to local currency. I've tried to include USD but when I run the default formula wherein I've included my currency conversion rule, the beginning balance for CTA zero out. I've tried removing the ratetype on CTA, replace it with blank, AS_IS,NOTRANS so as not to translate that account since it will be converting from a blank opening balace in LC(since CTA is only calculated in USD) to USD so it's reasonable that it would zero out, but still it's trnaslated.
    Any idea how to work this out?
    Thanks,
    Marvin

    Hi Marvin,
    Set your CTA account ratetype to something like "HISTX" or whatever you want, add this ratetype to RATE dimension and in your business rule, set this rate type to [AS_IS].
    We use it here and it works.
    Thanks,
    Regis

  • Beginning Balance and Ending Balance Calculation

    Hi all,
    I have got a critical requirement for my report.
    I have to calculate Opening and Closing Balances for every month
    Beginning balance amount of current month = Ending balance amount of previous month.
    and Ending Balance = Beginning Balance + Transactions(data available)
    My Beginning Balance amount initially will be loaded from Flat file.
    For the first month I will go with a calculated Keyfigure and calculate my ending Balance.
    Now, this ending balance of current month will be beginning balance of next month.
    The problem is for the second month if i want ending balance, how to hold that data, as that is a calculation.
    Secondly, if the data is for current period..that's fine, but if i have to see previous months data, how to get it??
    Thanks,
    Hima.

    Make a cell reference to the previous month in your query designer. I don't have any specific information available at this point, but I have done the exact same thing in the past and we could make it working using cell references. There's enough documentation available if you want to know the ins&outs of this.

    2LIS_03_BX- Initial Stock/Material stock
    2LIS_03_BF - Material movements
    2LIS_03_UM - Revaluations/Find the price of the stock
    The first DataSource (2LIS_03_BX) is used to extract an opening stock balance on a
    detailed level (material, plant, storage location and so on). At this moment, the opening
    stock is the operative stock in the source system. "At this moment" is the point in time at
    which the statistical setup ran for DataSource 2LIS_03_BX. (This is because no
    documents are to be posted during this run and so the stock does not change during this
    run, as we will see below). It is not possible to choose a key date freely.
    The second DataSource (2LIS_03_BF) is used to extract the material movements into
    the BW system. This DataSource provides the data as material documents (MCMSEG
    structure).
    The third of the above DataSources (2LIS_03_UM) contains data from valuated
    revaluations in Financial Accounting (document BSEG). This data is required to update
    valuated stock changes for the calculated stock balance in the BW. This information is
    not required in many situations as it is often only the quantities that are of importance.
    This DataSource only describes financial accounting processes, not logistical ones. In
    other words, only the stock value is changed here, no changes are made to the
    quantities. Everything that is subsequently mentioned here about the upload sequence
    and compression regarding DataSource 2LIS_03_BF also applies to this DataSource.
    This means a detailed description is not required for the revaluation DataSource.

  • How to know whether balance carry forward has happened or not

    How to know , whether balance carry forward has happened or not for a perticular GL account or for the company code as a whole?

    If the account is a balance sheet account, you can merely look at the beginning balance for the same balance sheet account for the beginning of the next fiscal year FS10N. The beginning balance will equal the previous year's ending balance. Since this does not happen automatically, you will know that carry forward has not been done if a balance sheet account has no beginning balance in the following fiscal year.
    If you are talking about For P&L GL accounts, you can check the acvitity in the retained earnings accounts to make sure that they have been updated for the P&L activity. You can identify the retained earnings account by looking at the master data for the account in the section "P&L statmt acct type" and pulling up the menu to see the actual retained earnings account number.
    You can perform carry foward (GVTR) as many times as you want but normally once it has been ran, any postings to a  previous fiscal year are automatically carried forward to the current year after that initial run.

  • How to extract binary data from a File?

    Hello there!
    Hope I'm right here.
    I have a slight problem with a file containing text- and binary-data. At the beginning of the file is only some text followed by some html-code and at the end is some binary stuff like a pdf oder an image (jpg/gif).
    My problem is now how to split these parts and save them in the suitable format. The text and the html are no problem, but I don't know how to extract the binary data. I tried it out with an Inputstream, but I don't know how to find the exact position where the binary data begins.
    Anyone have an idea how I can solve this?
    Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.

    I don't believe a bullet-proof solution exists.
    If you know where the HTML ends, you may skip whitespace and then assume the rest is binary data. Or, if you know the first bytes of the binary data, you may locate those. With either of these solutions, though, you risk coming across a file where it doesn't work as expected, for example if the first byte of the binary data happens to match a whitespace character.

  • How to extract every component in an array?

    Hello everyone!
    Do you know how to extract every component from an array field?
    For example:
    The following is the defination of a table:
    CREATE TABLE test (
    id NUMBER PRIMARY KEY,
    name VARCHAR2(32),
    shape MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY
    And then I insert a new record:
    INSERT INTO test VALUES(
    1,'first',
    MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(
    2003,
    NULL,
    NULL,
    MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,1003,3),
    MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(1,1, 5,7)
    The Question is I want to read the every component (for example 1,1,5,7) in the sdo_ordinate_array one by one. Who knows how to write the SQL?
    I have tried "select a.shape.sdo_ordinates(1) from test a". But it can't work.
    Thank you very much!

    One solution is to read each ordinate from a cursor ina SQL block. Here is an example:
    set serveroutput on
    SET serveroutput on SIZE 1000000
    set concat on
    DEFINE layername = 'LAYER';
    DEFINE geomcolname = 'GEOM';
    DECLARE
    id varchar2(10);
    longitude number;
    latitude number;
    logmile number;
    i number;
    theLayer varchar2(32);
    theGeomCol varchar2(32);
    BEGIN
    FOR rec IN (SELECT ROWID, id, &geomcolname FROM &layername ) LOOP
    id := rec.id;
    i := 1;
    while i < rec.geom.sdo_ordinates.count loop
    longitude:=rec.geom.sdo_ordinates(i);
    latitude:=rec.geom.sdo_ordinates(i+1);
    logmile:=rec.geom.sdo_ordinates(i+2);
    dbms_output.put_line(id || ',' || longitude || ',' || latitude || ',' || logmile);
    i := i + 3;
    end loop;
    END LOOP;
    commit;
    END;
    Maybe that will help.

  • Beginning Balance of Accumulated Repair Cost and  Budget Control

    Hi All,
    My client has two requirements which I have problems working on in SAP.
    1. How do we put the beginning balance of accumulated repair cost of each equipment? Example Equipment A had $ 40, 000 worth of repairs prior to the company's use of SAP, and this balance becomes the initial balance during repair cost reporting (thus if the first work order issued for that equipment in the SAP system costs $5,000, accumulated cost in cost analysis shatll be $45, 000 alread) .
    2. How do we implement budget control in Plant Maintenance, such that a work order that is over budget cannot be released? or needs to be approved by another more superior user before release?
    Thanks, answers would be of great help.
    Regards,
    Andrew

    Andrew,
    I suspect the only way to do this without Asset Accounting is to create a bespoke ABAP report. You would also need a customer table to hold the repair cost/equipment data. Alternatively, if you have a cost object per equipment (say cost centre) then you could add this value to the cost centre. Either way I would discuss the issue with you finance team first.
    In terms of budgetting; this can be done 3 ways:
    - Investment programs (IM)
    - Projects and WBS (PS)
    - Individual maintenance orders (PM)
    You can set threshold parameters which determine if the order can be released..

  • Importing vendor beginning balances

    Hi experts,
    Good day!
    I have some problem with importing my vendor beginning balances. Here are my questions:
    1. I tried importing through the journal entries but SAP won't accept BP code as my credit. Is this true? Or maybe I just miss some settings.
    2. Before I wasn't successful in my first attempt, I tried it through the purchase invoice and I have a different problem here. The column that is recognized by DTW is just the recordkey (in the header template); recordkey and linenum in the (line template). The rest of the columns are not recognized. This is true even if I used the template found in the data preparation samples of DTW. Please help.
    3. Any suggestion, how can I import my vendor beginning balances?
    Thanks,
    Jackilou

    Hi Gordon,
    I just finished browsing all threads related to DTW. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the solution to my problem. Is it possible to encode vendor beg balances thru the journal entry? If so, what are you gonna put in the credit row? Is it the vendor code? I tried putting the vendor code and I get an error.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

  • Beginning balance & Ending Balance???

    Hi all,
    How to refer ending balance to beginning balance?  This report will display two line items -beginning balance & ending balance in 12 period (Jan.- Dec.) yearly.
    What is the best solution to do it?
    1) Cell definition: I would need to run "<b>13" periods</b> in order to refer ending balance to beginning balance; and <b>hide first period</b> (which is last period of last year), right? If so, <b>how to hide 'first period'</b>?
    2) Cal. KF: I am not sure if I can use Cal.. If I can, please let me know.
    Any help is appreciated.
    J.

    Hi John,
    to use cell function you need to define 2 structures.
    In your case, I would define one for calmonth (with the number of months you needs) in the row area, here you may need to use text variable for calmonths. you can hide or unhide any as well.
    The second structure you should define it in the column area with the characteristics and KFs which could also be CKFs or RKFs.
    Afterwards, you can edit the cell and define the references. in the cell editor you can also hide and unhide cells, make calculations etc.
    For more information about  cell function:

    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Sally
