How to implement Master-Slave relation

i have no idea of how to implement a master slave relation, with jdbc i mean if i select "123" from a field in one table, all others fields in another table with the same value in the same field are selected...

I am certain that this has nothing to do with JDBC. Your query should take care of it. Read: http://www.w3schools.com/sql/sql_join.asp

    Hi Gurus,
    I was able to create master- detail between table and graph.
    But between two tables not.
    I put the listening column on the table prompt and specified channel for the Listen to Master-Detail Events in the table properties.
    But did not work.
    Where is the mistake?
    I"d appreciate any ideas, help!

    Thanks for the link!
    My question is :
    Are the same thinga the page edge and table prompt for the tables?
    If not how to add a column to the page edge (not to the table prompt)?

  • How to implement Master-Detail Search in TopLink without using DataControl

    Hi,
    I am using TopLink and EJB in our requirement. But we are not creating any data controls. Without data controls how to implement master detail search using TopLink and EJB. I did search for a single table. It is working fine. The way i implented is as follows.
    1) Taking search parameter from UI and passing it to A delegator class's method.
    2) Delegator class's method calls the EJB's NamedQuery which i already created using expression builder.
    3) EJB executes the NamedQuery with the parameter we are passing. And it returns the results back to UI.
    But as i am new to TopLink, can anyone tell me the procedure to implement Master - Detail search. Here we need to search based on Master table's column.
    Waiting for the replies regarding this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Suresh Kethireddy

    Hi,
    I did it successfully. Following is the code.
    Session session = getSessionFactory().acquireSession();
    UnitOfWork uow = session.acquireUnitOfWork();
    ReadAllQuery raq = new ReadAllQuery();
    Dept d = new Dept();
    d.setLoc(loc);
    raq.setExampleObject(d);
    List<Dept> res=(List<Dept>)uow.executeQuery(raq);
    for(int i=0; i<res.size();i++){
    System.out.println("Dept DeptNo ---"+res.get(i).getDeptno());
    System.out.println("Dept DeptName ---"+res.get(i).getDname());
    System.out.println("Dept Location ---"+res.get(i).getLoc());
    List<Emp> eRes=res.get(i).getEmpCollection();
    for(int j=0; j<eRes.size();j++){
    System.out.println(" Emp No ---"+eRes.get(j).getEmpno());
    System.out.println(" Emp Name ---"+eRes.get(j).getEname());
    System.out.println("Emp HireDate ---"+eRes.get(j).getHiredate());
    System.out.println(" Emp Job ---"+eRes.get(j).getJob());
    System.out.println(" Emp Mgr ---"+eRes.get(j).getMgr());
    System.out.println(" Emp Sal ---"+eRes.get(j).getSal());
    But now my question is, i want to search by providing Dept param as well Emp(Which is child table) param also. Is it possible?
    I tried in 2 ways like this.
    1) Emp emp = new Emp();
    emp.setEname(eName);
    dept.addEmp(emp);
    raq.setExampleObject(dept);
    2) Emp e = new Emp();
    e.setEname("ADAMS");
    List<Emp> list = new ArrayList();
    list.add(e);
    d.setEmpCollection(list);
    raq.setExampleObject(d);
    But in both cases i failed to search based on the values i am passing to Emp.
    Is there any other way to achieve my requirement?
    Any help on this is great.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Berkeley DB master-slave replication basic java code example

    Hi,
    I am new user of berkeley db and I have limited knowledge of Java programming. Can someone help me with basic Java example code of how to do master-slave replication without elections.
    Thanx,
    Jani

    Hello,
    Please clarify a few points about your program:
    1. What platform and Berkeley DB version are you using?
    2. Are you planning on using the replication framework
    or base replication API for your application?
    3. When you say you want replication without elections,
    what exactly does that mean. For example, if you are using
    the replication framework elections are held transparently
    without any input from your application's code. In this case,
    DB will determine which environment is the master and which
    are replicas. Is that what you are thinking about or
    something else?
    Thanks,

  • MASTER/SLAVE PATTERN: how to stop slave loop without stop main loop

    Hi All, I am studying the master/slave loop and saw an examples are like this (only master block shows)
    From this case, as I understand, if we click "set" button, slave loop will run. If we click this button again to mak it "Flase", the slave loop will be stopped as well as the main loop will be stopped as well.
    Now if I have a multi-function main loop, I just want to start or stop slave loop when click "set" button, how can I do it? Thank you very much!

    Your understanding is completely wrong.  There is nothing in the image you show that would stop either loop.  In this situation the "set" button would normally have a latching mechanical action, meaning that when it is pushed, it will stay true until it is read once, at which point it will return to false.  Placing the control terminal inside the event case causes the terminal to be read and resets the button to false.  With a latching mechanical action, there will be only one event generated even though the boolean will change value twice (from false to true, and from true to false).  You'll never have a situation where you push the button once to set it true, and again to set it false.  However, even if the mechanical action is switching, not latching, it still won't make a difference here - the event case does the same thing whenever the value changes, regardless of whether it's true or false.

  • How to create 1-1 relation in Master Detail link?

    How to create 1-1 relation in Master Detail link?
    I've attached the screen shot in the link below (a Microsoft powerpoint file)
    http://us.f1f.yahoofs.com/bc/6a8130cf/bc/My+Documents/dataerror.ppt?bf2WKfABbW_fzjVn

    Hi,
    I can't reach the file at the link you gave (bcvrf.yahoo.com not found) so I can't tell quite what you're trying to do. Can you provide a bit more detail? Are you using the ER modeler or the schema diagram? If you're modeling tables in the schema diagram then the answer is you can't - there must be a foreign key at one end and that is always represented as a 'many'. To enforce a 1:1 relationship you must add code (probably in the server), for example, db triggers.
    I hope this is helpful,
    Keith.

  • Master-Slave design Implementation

    Hi,
    I am trying to design a master-slave system with the following attributes:
    1. Linux Master box having all the Java code.
    2. At least two Windows XP Professional Slave boxes (no Java code on any of these)
    Front end screens on Master would contain a text fields for IP Address and Java program to be executed. On a click of button, the slaves (who's IP Address was entered in the Master screen text field) would get the request to execute the given Java program, a given number of times. Once executed, each slave would turn the results in to the master via a file. After all the slaves have turned in their results, Master would consolidate the results, work another program on the results and re-delegate tasks to the slaves. The steps would stop iterating only when an exit criteria specified by the program has been met.
    If we were to restrict all code to only the master box, what could be the lucidly possible ways to achieve this design?
    Thanks!

    You will need some machanism to send the programs to slaves atleast temperarly in order to be executed there.
    Or you will have to provide a vay for the programs to access the required respurces (files , ect..) in the slaves and let the programs run in the master.

  • How to implement the Tax Data for Material Master IN MDM

    Hello  Experts,
    The MDM 7.1 standard business content does not ship the content required for TAX data implementation. We need to include this however for Material/Vendor/Customer.
    We have alraedy tried the approach of a multivalued lookup table for TAX fileds (Plant,Country,Tax Type, Tax Category, Tax Classfn) and linked it to the Sales DAta Qualified Table.
    but this does not satisfy the interdependencies of SAP ERP  i.e Sales Org-> Distribution Channel-> Plant-> Departure Country-> Tax Type-> Tax classification. We intend to implement this same relation in MDM.
    Kindly guide as to what would be the right approach. Can a qulalified lookup for Tax data be helpful for this scenario?
    Also can anyone secify the correct table or T-Code where we can find this entire dependency in ECC?
    Thanks in advance,
    Elizabeth.

    Hi Elizabeth, hi Shiv,
    as long as you're using MDM for consolidation and harmonization only, you could add the tax information. As for customers (for example), you maintain tax indicators as a child of the sales area. This means for MDM that you need to include the tax indicators in the sales data tuple. As tax indicators are repeatable records, you need to create a nested tuple for that.
    But as Shiv has correctly mentioned, the tax information itself is quite complex in regards to which tax information must be maintained depending on e.g. the country and/or sales area. In MDM it is hardly possible to predefine any mandatory values like it is possible in ERP. So if you plan a central creation of data, you'll most probably have to invest a lot into the correct validations to ensure that you create correct data. Still it needs to be closely investigated if you can do this with the MDM functionality or if you need some external API programming to do the job.
    Best regards
    Michael

  • How to make two standalone oracle databases into master/slave relationship

    i'm not talking about RAC...
    is there any way to make two oracle databases into master/slave relationship? one is hot one is cold, when the hot one is down, the cold one automatically picks up? and of course two databases are in sync all the time.
    any experience?

    DataGuard is an enterprise edition feature.
    You could roll your own standby database by cloning the production system to a backup server and writing scripts that copy the archived log files from the primary to the standby and that apply the archived logs on the standby. Of course, the transactions that had been applied to the primary that were still in the primary's redo logs would be lost if the primary were to fail. DataGuard provides options to keep the standby more closely in sync with the standby to reduce or eliminate that risk, which is one of the reasons that it's an enterprise edition feature.
    If you're on Windows, Oracle FailSafe may also be something to look at.

  • How to implement Modbus Ethernet communication in Lookout, if we want to simulate the PC as PLC ?

    Problem Description :
    Dear Sir,
    We are doing a project where we are using Lookout with
    Front end Modicon PLC. The communication is by
    Ethernet, using Modbus.
    Since the installation is at a distant place, we wanted
    to use another PC (running Lookout) to simulate the
    PLC. For this, we tried to communicate
    a: the server Lookout PC running Modbus Ethernet mode of
    Modbus object as Master
    b: with another PC (for simulating the PLC) running
    Modbus Slave
    We did not get any communication. (we have given the
    details of what we have done, at the end of this email)
    We also tried connecting the above 2 PC's as
    a: the server Lookout PC running Modbus Serial mode of
    Modbus object as Master
    b: with another PC (for simulating the PLC) running
    Modbus Slave object
    Again we did not get any communication.
    If instead of PC (b) we connect the Modbus simulator to
    PC (a), there is no problem in communicating
    Please let us know how to go about establishing the
    communication between 2 PC's using Modbus serial,
    and Modbus Ethernet. A detailed step by step procedure
    would help us a lot.
    Thanking you
    Warm Regards

    Procedure of our trial with ethernet.
    This is what we have done in detail.
    On PC A:
    We created an object (Pot) and connected it to
    the modbus data member of the modbus object say 40001. In the
    properties of the modbus object we selected modbus ethernet mode
    of communication and in the IP address field we wrote the IP
    address of the machine B to which we are trying to communicate
    i.e. 152.63.50.2.
    On PC B: we tried the following two methods
    Trial 1 : We created a modbus slave object and
    inserted an expression for the same data memeber to which the
    object was connected hoping to get the value of the pot of machine
    A on machine B.
    Trial 2 : We created a modbus object on machine B and we wrote
    the IP address of machine A and inserted an expression for the
    same datamemeber to which the object was connected hoping to get
    the value of the pot of machine A on machine B.

    The ModbusSlave which comes with Lookout currently supports only Serial communication. So, you cannot use Ethernet between your two PCs. At least not with Modbus Master-Slave setup (if you must speak Ethernet between the two PCs, IPASCII object lets you do that, but then you'll need to implement your own protocol).
    Since all you want to do is simulate a Modbus PLC on a PC, you can use the Serial mode of communication for now. And later on just modify the Object in your Server Lookout to use the Ethernet mode.
    For setting up a Serial Modbus Slave, use a null-modem cable between the two PCs (lines 2 and 3 are swapped). On your PC 'B,' create the Modbus Slave object with the right COM port for that PC. And on your PC 'A' create the regular Modbus Object as if you w
    ere connecting to the Modbus Simulator box. The only difference here is the cable. The simulator box uses a straight-through cable whereas the Slave needs a null-modem cable.
    Hope this helps.

  • Creating a master-detail relation between a view and a table

    Hi all,
    I have a problem with creating a master-detail relation between a database-view with lots of customer data and a small table with per customer a list of entities of our companies who may work for that customer.
    Somehow I seem to be unable to create a relation between these two. I can't find where I can make a foreign key using Toplink to implement the relationship. And neither can I get a Viewlink object doing the job using ADF Business Components.
    Somebody any suggestions on this problems?
    Regards,
    Birgit

    There is a key relationship between two fields which form the primary key in the main table of the view and two fields in the second table.
    I created a viewlink manually, but I still couldn't get the data correct i.e. a form with one record of a customer from the main view and a small table with all entities of our company who can make performances for that customer.
    I tried to find a manual or a how-to on this topic but I didn't find anything helpfull yet.
    Regards,
    Birgit
    After a couple more tries, I got the master-detail working. With all the fiddling I am not sure what caused the problem but I think the finally action was checking which fields of the view were marked as primary keys.
    Now everthing is up and running.

  • How to design Master datas?? Whats is Time Scenarios???Explain..

    How to design Master datas?? Whats is Time Scenarios???
    Can anybody explain about Time Scenarios???

    Hi..
    to tell it is huge ..
    but a slice of it
    Design          – Create design documents
    Prod.          – Make the product
    Quality          – Confirm quality of product
    Sales          - Market the product
    Purchase                    – Procure the items
    Accounts                       To control the cost of Mfg
    These steps should be understood as a general approach. To what extent they must be carried out depends
    on the actual situation and the experience of the project members involved.
    After deciding on the business process being dealt with, the basic steps to implementing a BI based solution
    are:
    1. Focus on the structure of information
    Develop a complete understanding of the underlying business processes. Create an Entity Relationship
    Model (ERM) of the business process
    The ERM as a function of the information
    2. Focus on analytical needs - Overcome model complexity
    Create a valid data model. Translate the ERM to the Multi-Dimensional Model (MDM) / Star schema
    The MDM as a function of the analytical processing
    3. Build the solution as a part of an integrated data warehouse
    The Star schema on the BI stage are the InfoCubes. Translate the MDM / Star schema to one or more
    InfoCube.
    coming to time ..
    How real-world changes are dealt with, i.e. how the different time aspects are handled is the most
    important topic with data warehouses.
    The attributes of a characteristic that will reside in its master data table are determined in the modeling
    phase. Each attribute can be defined individually as being time dependent:
    There is one ‘time dependent’ check box for each attribute in the ‘attribute’ tab page section.
    Time dependency of an attribute allows you to keep track on the changes over time of the relation of the
    characteristic and the time dependent attribute values.
    In terms of technical implementation, two master data tables exist if we have both non-time dependent
    and time dependent attributes.
    One master data table stores all relations to non-time dependent attributes (name of the table:
    /BIC/P<InfoObject name>) and
    One table stores relations to time dependent attributes (name of the table: /BIC/Q<InfoObject
    name>).
    The time dependent attributes master data table has additional DATETO and DATEFROM system
    attributes. In queries the different constellations are addressed using the key date ( Query properties).
    The validity attributes are not available for navigation.
    The text table, or better the description attributes, may be defined as time dependent.
    SID tables with respect to master data:
    The SID table is always generated if an InfoObject is not defined as ‘attribute only’ (tab page general).
    This table is used if the access to an Infocube or DataStore Object uses a navigational attribute or if the
    access is via a characteristic without attributes. Name of the table: /BIC/S<InfoObject name>
    The non-time dependent attribute SID table of a characteristic for access via non-time dependent
    attributes. Name of the table: /BIC/X<InfoObject name>
    The time dependent attribute SID table of a characteristic for access via time dependent attributes.
    Name of the table: /BIC/Y<InfoObject name>

  • Master-Slave Repository locking problem

    Hi,
    We are implementing SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0. I have few questions regarding MAster-Slave scenario.
    1. At the time of importing supplier catalog data into Master Repository through Import Manager, the Master Repository will be locked for Read Access through SRM-MDM Catalog Search UI???
    2. At the time of Master-Slave synchroniztion, which repository will be locked? Master or Slave or both? If both repositories are locked for searching, that means at that particular time, end users can't perform search.
    3. If we go for Master-Slave scenario, how could I make my Master Repository Highly Available? As per SAP Note # 1170807, it is recommended that SRM-MDM catalog Search UI is mapped to work with slave repository. It means latest data will be there in Master Repsoitory and will only be available after synchronization.
    4. If we create one or two slave repositories on the same server where we have master repository, how much extra resources will be required?
    Thanks,
    Anshuk Saxena

    Hi Anshuk,
    1. At the time of importing supplier catalog data into Master Repository through Import Manager, the Master Repository will be locked for Read Access through SRM-MDM Catalog Search UI???
    Yes, at that time Master repo will locked and if you are using master slave  scenario thencatalo 3.0 will log in slave repository.Basically MDM catalog 3.0 first find  available slave then only move to master.
    2. At the time of Master-Slave synchroniztion, which repository will be locked? Master or Slave or both? If both repositories are locked for searching, that means at that particular time, end users can't perform search
    At this time slave that is under synchronization proces will locked not master.
    YES latest data in master only.High availability can achieved by what user set the synchronization frequency after each import or when.It is up to user only.
    4. If we create one or two slave repositories on the same server where we have master repository, how much extra resources will be required?
    Again its up to user.they can maintain all repository on same server or all on different server.But preferable is atleast maintain  master at different server.

  • How to Implement BW in IT Service Desk/IT Help Desk /IT Complain Surveillance Dept/IT Customer Support Dept?

    Hi
    If a organization have 200 to 300 daily complains of there IT equipment/Software/Network e.t.c.
    How to Implement BW in IT Service Desk/IT Help Desk /IT Complain Surveillance Dept/IT Customer Support Dept?
    Is there any standard DataSources/InfoObjects/DSOs/InfoCubes etc. available in SAP BI Content?

    Imran,
    The point I think was to ensure that you knew exactly what was required. A customer service desk can have many interpretations from a BI perspective.
    You could have :
    1. Operational reports - calls attended per shift , Average number of calls per person , Seasonality in the calls coming in etc
    2. Analytic views - Utilization of resources , Average call time and trending , customer satisfaction , average wait time
    3. Strategic - Call volumes corresponding to campaigns etc , Employee churn and related call times
    Based on these you would then have to construct your models which would be populated by data from the MySQL instance for you to report.
    Else if you have BWA you could have data discovery instead or if you have HANA - you could do even more and if you have a HANA sidecar - you technically dont need BW. The possibilities are virtually endless - it depends on how you want to drive it and how the end user ( client ) sees value in the same.
