  • Launching Enterprise Manager on Win2K

    I am hoping to develop against an Oracle 816 or 817 database but setting this up in a Windows 2000 environment I find I cannot launch Enterprise Manager. I get an error: VTK 1000 even though I use the default user/password sysman/oem_temp. I then tried to manually start the OMS service but received a message: Error 997 - Overlapped I/O operation in progress. I also noticed there is a promised patch for Windows 2000 for Enterprise Manager version 2.2 after registering. What does this mean and how can I get a patch? Would really appreciate a solution.

  • How to configure Enterprise Manager both node (2 node) RAC?

    Hi,
    I have installed oracle 11g r2 rac with asm in two nodes. OS is hp-Unix.
    I have installed oracle11g Active Data Guard using Single alone Database.
    Both RAc and Active Data Guard works fine.

    I have configure Enterprise Manager during RAC database installation.
    When I start Enterprise Manager from node1 its address to node1
    but when I start Enterprise Manager from node2 it also addressed to node1.
    When both node is up and running, I can connect from Enterprise Manager.
    When node2 is down but node1 is up then also I can connect from Enterprise Manager

  • Launching Enterprise Manager

    Hi
    I am very new in the Oracle world. I just installed Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition and the Enterprise Manager, can someone tell me how I can launch the Enterprise Manager. I am using the default Administrator sysman, and the default password oem_temp, then the Management Server is my server name (SERVER1), but I keep getting this error VTK-1000; unable to connect to management server SERVER1. Please verify that you have entered the correct name status of the Oracle Management Server.
    Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong, and also if I need to install the Oracle 8i client in the same machine.
    Thanks in advance

    Please check if OMS in Services

    My own question to folks here. :)
    Oracle in the EMREADME file supplied to
    OEM 2.1.0.2.0 says that there is no support
    of Win2K in this release and promised about
    the patch. Does anybody knows about status
    of that patch and what issues it will cover?
    I'm experiencing logon error to
    OMS. After starting Console it rejects any credentials I have supplied.
    DBA Studio and all other stuff sucessfully
    connects to Oracle8i for Linux.
    Does anyone has OEM succesfully running on NT or 95/98?

  • How to configure Enterprise Manager Database Control (EMDC) to make it work on 2 servers working (primary and standby) under DG rules

    Hello everybody i use Oracle Database EE 11.2.0.4 with DG.
    In those cases i need to get Enterprise Manager Database Control running against DB with no RAC and no DG i perform the following steps:
    I Logon SQLPLUS as user SYS or SYSTEM, and drop the sysman account and management objects:
    DECLARE
    CURSOR c1 IS
    SELECT owner, synonym_name name
    FROM dba_synonyms
    WHERE table_owner = 'SYSMAN';
    BEGIN
    FOR r1 IN c1 LOOP
    IF r1.owner = 'PUBLIC' THEN
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP PUBLIC SYNONYM '||r1.name;
    ELSE
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP SYNONYM '||r1.owner||'.'||r1.name;
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    END;
    DROP USER mgmt_view CASCADE;
    DROP ROLE mgmt_user;
    DROP USER sysman CASCADE;
    After that i run
    emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate
    But what should i do in cases i have 2 servers working (primary and standby) under DG rules?

    Hi ,
    It is not possible to monitor/administer a Logical or Physical Standby database, i.e Data Guard, using Enterprise Manager Database Control.  This is primarily due to the fact that Database Control is designed to monitor 1 database and a Data Guard environment, by definition, includes more than 1 database.
    If you attempt to run emca against a standby Database, you will get an error like (i.e. ORA-01219: database not open).
    Database Control, can, of course, be used to monitor the current Primary database (with no ability to administer or monitor Data Guard related functionality).  In such a case, when failover occurs Database Control must be reconfigured to run on the new Primary database using the commands detailed in Note 278100.1 How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database, section C. Recreate/ReConfig DB Control, Option 2. Recreate the DB Control Configuration Files and Repository.
    Enterprise Manager Grid Control or Cloud Control provides the functionality for viewing, monitoring, and administering primary and standby databases in a Data Guard configuration.
    Reference: Is it Possible to Configure Database Control for a Logical or Physical Standby Database? (Doc ID 315116.1)
    You can use EM 12c cloud control to monitor and manager Standby DB effectively
    Ref to below link for details
    Set Up and Manage Oracle Data Guard using Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c

  • How to install Enterprise Manager to JDeveloper integrated Weblogic domain

    I have installed JDeveloper 11g and as you know it also installs an embedded Weblogic and creates a Weblogic domain. This domain by default has the console application but does not have the em application. How can I add em to my integrated Weblogic?

    Sturla,
    I can give you the quick steps for installing EM into the WLS container integrated with JDev:
    1). Download from OTN two pieces of software from the Fusion Middleware 11g (use the "For Deployment" software, click "See All"): the Application Development Runtime, and (under Additional Required Software) the Repository Creation Utility (RCU).
    2). Unzip the RCU and run bin/rcu.bat or bin/rcu (windows/*nix). Create the MDS repository in an Oracle DB using this utility.
    3). Install the application development runtime into the same home you installed JDeveloper.
    4). Run the configuration wizard - on Windows its in the start menu / Oracle Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.1.0 / Weblogic Server 11gR1 / Tools. Find it yourself on *nix ;)
    5). Choose to extend a domain
    6). Pick your DefaultDomain directory for the integrated WLS
    7). Tick the checkbox to add enterprise manager
    8). Supply the database connection information for the DB in which you created the repository in step 2.
    Ta-da!
    The EM will be accessible via http://hostname:7001/em, username/password=weblogic/weblogic1. I will caution you about generically installing into the integrated domain - it makes your WLS take noticeably longer to start up...

    John

  • How to access Enterprise manager from another computer

    Hi There,
    I have Oracle 10g installed on a PC. I can access EM from that PC.
    I would like to know how would I access EM Dbconsole from another computer under same LAN.

    Opening the web browser, you can specify the hostname and the port configured to listen the incoming call.
    For example:
    https://hostname:port_number/em
    or
    https://ip_address:port_number/em
    you can get information about the information that you need from the "emctl"

    Checking the security status of the DBCONSOLE...   Done.
    DBCONSOLE is secure at HTTPS Port 1158.
    Checking the security status of the Agent...   Done.
    Agent is secure at HTTPS Port 3938.So, what I need is the following result: instead of DBCONSOLE is secure and Agent is secure i want to see DBCONSOLE is not secure and Agent is not secure.
