How to Open a pop up window?

Hi
I have 2 fields in my form.
attribute1 and attribute1_meaning
only attribute1 is displayed on the form .
I want that whenever a user updates or inserts any record into the attribute1 field ,
a window should pop up prompting for the user to enter field attribute1_meaning.
in short --
if attribute1 is updated or inserted then attribute1_meaning should also be updated or inserted.
How to go about this?

well bro u have to create another canvas with dialog window, set its size and pop it up.
You can also hide the meaning field and everytime the user changes or inserts set the visibility of the attribute_meaning to yes.
and use validation and post change triggers to pop the window occasionally when the meaning is null or the record is new or changed.

privacy.popups.showBrowserMessage
and
browser.popups.showPopupBlocker
Both of them!!!

How can I override pop-up windows for a specific site?

In Firefox for Mac and Internet Explorer on a PC, you can turn off pop windows, but authorize specific sites to open a pop-up window. Is there a work around in Safari? The simple on/off switch (command-shift-k) is not adequate. I'd like to use just one browser, instead of using one for general surfing, and another for sites I log into that open various pop ups as I navigate.
Safari is fast, but at a functional cost.

Adblock keeps popping up as a suspect in Safari crash logs, so I'm a little nervous about it. Glims seems to have a better rep for Safari-friendliness and I believe it offers selective ad blocking:

You can also try the Camino. browser, From the Mozilla crew, it is Mac-only and much leaner and faster than FireFox. The interface is very close to Safari, unlike FireFox's rather Windows-centric approach. You can selectively block or allow both cookies and pop-ups. line shows an error saying that "Object doesn't support this action"

Hi, I have owned my t430s for now about 2 years without any major complaints recently I've had to use the fn + f5 function quite frequently, because of my poor internet connection. so that way i can reset which signal I want to choose because the default signal I am connected to is not mine. Firefox takes atleast 5-10mins in opening a pop-up window, when clicked on a link in a parent website. All these websites are completely trusted. Hello Chaitanya.
This kind of issues are, unfortunately, more common and the we'd like. Thankfully, 99% of the cases are very easy to solve. However, you do need to diagnose what your exact problem is. Do this:
#run Firefox in safe-mode to disable all extensions and plugins. If this fixes your issues, be them with RAM or CPU usage, then you know it's a problem with plugins or extensions. Proceed to number 2. If safe-mode doesn't fix the issues, then read bellow, after this list;
#update all extensions and plugins in your Firefox. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
#disable all extensions and plugins in your Firefox (not running safe-mode). Being certain that, as in safe-mode, the problems you're having have gone away, enable one plugin at a time. You should be certain that you WANT that plugin to be enabled, so keep your overall number of plugins as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic plugin, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all plugins (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all.
#enable one extension at a time. Again, be certain that you WANT that extension to be enabled, so keep your overall number of extensions as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic extension, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all your extensions (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all;
#you're done! You've fixed your problems with problematic add-ons.
Ok, if disabling all extensions and plugins through safe-mode didn't work to bring Firefox's CPU and RAM usage to good levels, then you have different issue. The most likely scenario is that you have a third party software running on your computer that is messing with Firefox. Do as follows:
#do a virus/malware check on your computer. If this doesn't fix it, proceed;
#disable all software running in the background that you don't want to have running in the background (in windows, this is done by pressing WINDOWS+R in your keyboard, typing "msconfig" (without the commas) and pressing enter. Now, under the "Startup" tab, you can uncheck the software you don't want, and reboot your system for changes to take effect. If you're unsure of what software you want running, ask someone with more experience). If this doesn't fix your issues with Firefox, proceed;
#check your firewall/antivirus/security suite for enabled functions/features that you don't want and/or may be conflicting with Firefox. You'll find that these features are most likely tied to Internet Security features, such as link scanners or URL checkers and the like. If you're not sure they are conflicting with Firefox, simply try to disable them to see whether or not that's true. As long as you don't browse the web with your antivirus completely off and your firewall completely turned off, there should be no problems. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
#check your operating system security options, mainly advanced options that are not configured by default. While it's very unlikely that this may be the cause of the problem (after all, it's the last item on the list), it's remotely possible. If this doesn't work, proceed to the following point;
#clean up your OS registry, using appropriate software. If this doesn't do it, I'm out of ideas. Except make sure you've followed my instructions correctly.

I'm in a regional office. Corporate uses Kerio Connect 7.0.0 for email. Today 5/7/10 I started having problems whenever I open an email of ANY type, I can view it in viewing pane, but double clicking it gives me the message "Firefox prevented this site from opening a pop-up window." NOBODY ELSE in my company has had this problem (I have had it happen a few times in the past, but not ALL emails like today!). I am on my own in a regional office, so guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried this and it is not working. The only thing I can think of is that Firefox automatically upgraded to the 3.5 version I believe sometime last week, which is when I truly began to see the problem.
No wonder I have avoided upgrading! It seems to me that Firefox STILL has not corrected this problem.
I have seen multiple people as late as last week complaining @ same issue and they are reverting back to FF 3.0.
Sound like this is my only solution.
If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.

There are a couple ways you can do this, here's one:
1. On the Windows 8 Start screen, move your mouse to the bottom left corner of the screen.
2. Right-click in the corner, and a menu should appear. Click File Explorer.
3. The Computer window appears on the Windows desktop. Click the file location from the navigation panel on the left. (Example: If the file you're looking for is in the Documents folder, click Documents, and browse to the desired file.)

Does anyone know how to open pages document with windows vista? i saved it onto a usb stick but when i tried to open it on the computers in my university which support windows vista, it didnt reconise the file and opened with a page of question marks!!!! Im panicking now!!!!!

You cannot open it on Windows Vista. The only application in the world that opens a Pages document is Pages, and it is Mac OS X only.
Your options:
1. Find a Mac with Pages installed, and save the document as doc or pdf, which you can open on Vista.
or, if that is impossible,
2. Open the files in a texteditor like Notepad.exe on Windows and try to piece text fragments together to get at least part of your original text back. The images should also be available somewhere, even though all formatting is gone.

I resolved the problem. I went to CNet and re-downloaded the upgrade. It proceeded as intended and the upgrade is installed and running with no loss of plug-ins, bookmarks, etc.

Open a pop up window and display new jsp in it

i want to open a pop up window (from a jsp)when i click a link ,
the opened pop up window is a different jsp where i have to pass an action event to the struts action doing some functionalities and then forward to that jsp.
example:
create.jsp has a link that uses java script to open the pop up.
the pop up should open search.jsp after going to the action.
what needs to be done:
1-open pop up
2-pass action event to the struts action
3-open the new jsp in the pop up
kindly assist me in this issue

Is this regarding OAF ? if this is a requirement in OAF, then its not possible(unless you put in some javascript function in the page).
If you want to do it in other jsps there are a lot of examples available in google on how to do this.

Occasionally, when I try to do a Google search, numerous "opening search" pop-up windows appear. I cannot continue typing in my search until I've closed all of these pop-up windows. How do I stop them from EVER popping up again?!

They are small pop-up windows. When I start entering in keywords to search, ever so often, these things pop-up and not just one. Many of them. Popping one upon another upon another upon another. I cannot enter anything new into the Google search box until I have closed all of these windows. And, commonly, numerous ones of them will pop up again when I enter in the next letter in my search.
This is what it says in the pop-up box:
Along the top it says in the light blue margin "Opening search"
Under the above and in a white box it says:
"You have chosen to open
[a Windows symbol] search
which is a: application/json
from: https//www.google.com
Then on the outline of an inner box, it reads "What should Firefox do with this file?" and it gives the following options:
Open with ["Browse" button]
DownThemAll!
Save File [This one is checked as the default]
Then a check-off box with the text next to it: "Do this automatically for files like this from now on.
Under that is an "OK" button that is gray and cannot be checked and a "Cancel" button that can be. I have never done either but used the "X" in the upper right corner of the box to close out this window.
Now I see I have limited options for "This happened" for frequency. It isn't every time Firefox is opened but it is FAR more frequent than "A few times a week". More like several times a day.
