How to pass the primary key from a report to multiple forms

I am trying to build an application that tracks a person's training records. I have a report and 3 forms (all tabbed). From the report I can click the edit link to modify a person. Is there a way I can pass the primary key of the person (from the report) to the other forms? Hope what I'm trying to do is clear.

You can specify items from other pages also.
Did you use that popup to pick item ?
Did you noticed that it filter by page where your link point. You can remove filter from popup and then select other items.
Or just manually type your item names

You can use DatabaseMetaData#getPrimaryKeys.

How to Pass the Internal table of a report to Smart Form

Hi Experts,
I have one report in which from selection screen i am getting the values from the users, and upon that values i am filling data in to the internal table.
Now i want to pass that internal table data to the smart form
and print that data in the smart form.
So could you pls give me some pseudo code or any steps to achieve it.

Hi DS,
First of all you need to create a SF and then need to call the FM generated by the FM in your report.
In the SF in the form interface>tables tab>mention the name of the table and its type structure.
Pls note that a new structure has to be created as the same type of your internal table which holds the data.
And the import and export parameters as just the same as in a FM.
Now after you create and activate your SF a FM will be generated (wen u execute your SF you will be taken to this SE37 screen with the name of FM so no probs..)
You can call this FM in your report. Hope this helps.
Ex:
say itab has your final data, and you also want to export a variable var1 to the SF.
after your normal report operations end, call the FM and pass on these data.
say your FM name is FM1.
call function FM1
exporting
var1 = var1
tables
itab1 = itab1.
pls note that in the SF also i gave the same names, it is not mandatory to give the same names.
and as you want to print a table in the smartforms, you need to create a table in the smart forms and then display the data which is quite simple.

Getting the primary key from order form

Does anyone know how to get the primary key (DocEntry) off of the order form for an existing order? I don't really want to use the DocNum field since it is not the primary key and theoretically two different orders could have the same DocNum. Thanks in advance for your help.

DocEntry and DocNum values are unique, so you cannot have in db 2 orders with the same DocNum. It's possible, that DocEntry and DocNum values can vary.
If you know the DocNum value (f.e. from Order's Form), you can simple use RecordSet object:

I'm running CS3 on Mac OS Leopard, and the automatic tool switching slows me down, but even preferences doesn't show a way to turn this off.

With any marquee tool, JUST holding down the option key should not switch tools. You need to explain the problem much more carefully, It's completely impossible to tell from your description whats going wrong.

The only preference related to this, is to do with the SHIFT KEY - "use Shift key for tool switch".

How to get the PRIMARY KEY of a table at runtime ???

My requirement is to update a z-table at runtime according to the data given ata runtime. So the main difficulties for me is that whenever I tried to update the table based on the data given in UI many rows are getting updated as these fields are not unique. So I think if I can get the PRIMARY KEY along with these given fields then I can update only one row at a time.
So Can anyone suggest me how to get PRIMARY KEY of a table based on the data in UI..??

U will get primary keys of transparent tables using FM "REUSE_FIELDCALATLOG_MERGE".
pass tyour table name and u will get fieldcatalog filled. In tht their is a field called "KEY" if it has 'X' then tht field is a primary key of transparent tables & if it has "space" then it is not a primary key...
Or else you can try with 'DDIF_TABT_GET'

Try using portal events. You will have to register and handle the required portal event in your WDA application.

One of the guidelines when selecting column for a primary key is:
Choose a column whose data values are never changed. A primary key value is only used to identify a row in the table, and its data should never be used for any other purpose. Therefore, primary key values should rarely or never be changed.

How to defer the primary key validation to commit time

Hi
Is it possible to defer the primary key validation to commit time? I don't know why the framework checks for the unique key constraint immediately after inserting the row and before committing it. This causes "Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[null]" error if the user presses the create new record button multiple times before filling and saving the previous records.

Many thanks for your reply. I have access to the database but I prefer to use an ADF workaround to this problem rather than a DB workaround. I am not sure but I think that there should be a way to defer or disable primary key constraint in ADF.
Anyway, I tried to make the primary key constraint DEFERRABLE in DB using PL/SQL developer but an error occurred (the name is used by another object) which I don't know why.

I am new in Crystal Reports and I wonder if it is possible to enhance the Excel export from Crystal Reports with post-processing that would be applied to the Excel exported file.
By example, is it possible to freeze the window panes, so rows and columns are frozen in place on the screen?
Is there any possibility to obtain the file exported to excel to work with.
Or maybe there is some ways to parametrize the Excel export from Crystal Reports?

If you are using Crystal Reports 2008 you can use the Report Application SDK that is now available.
It has a object called PrintOutputController that has an export method that allows you to get access to the exported file before you send it to the user.
Check the Developer library and the samples for details.

I have a logical model with a parent table and two child tables. The engineering strategy is "table per child". The parent has an primary key attribute. This is a screen shot:

When I engineer the model I get two primary keys with the same name name, which is the name of the parent:

The correct names would be CHILD1_PK and CHILD2_PK. I can change the relational model by applying the naming rules but the next engineering will trash the names again.

the problem with PK name is fixed in Data Modeler 3.2.
You can change PK name in relational model it won't be changed on next engineering
