How to replace an USB cable?

I am trying to replace an USB cable for my iPhone 4 online, but there are only 8 options and none of them is USB cable:
Adapter, TTY, iPhone
Cable, AV, Component
Cable, AV, Composite
Earphones with Remote and Mic-US/L.A./Europe/Asia
In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic
Nike+ Shoe Sensor
Power Adapter w/ Plug, Ultra Compact, USB, iPhone/iPod-CAN
Power Adapter, USB, iPhone/iPod, 45x45-CAN
There is the power adapter and the headphone, but I don't see an option for USB cable. Any idea?

You can:
Use online resources: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone
or visit an Apple Retail Store: http://www.apple.com/retail
or call 1-800-MY-IPHONE (1-800-694-7466) (if you live in the U.S.)
Anyway, if you purchased the phone elsewhere, you need call the store support line for details on how correctly handle your request.

  • First of all, Apple must learn how to design a USB Cable

Is this is the way you design an USB Cable?
it got damaged near the lightning connector, i bought a new genuine cable again 2 months before.
Again it got damaged in the same place.
P.S: Learn from school boys how to design an USB cable which can sustain for years.

+1  After all these years with iDevices, I now have a drawer full of cables, none of which have ever broken.  Maybe I'm just better at plugging and unplugging than the OP?
I had one I kept accidentally slamming in a desk drawer. Never seemed to do it any harm. I did break a Belkin car charger by closing it in a car door but you can hardly blame Apple (or Belkin) for that. I still have Firewire cables from my first iPod, and more 30-pin connector cables than I care to think about. I don't recall any of my Apple cables ever going bad. And, frankly, I'm less careful than I know I should be.
I baby my iDevices, but I'm not very nice to my cables.  No, I'm not.  And yet, still never had an Apple cable go bad on me.  I lost an iPad charger (left in a hotel room), which I cursed, but that was my fault, not the cables fault.

  • How to replace the inverter cable? screen gone black in MacBook

    Hi
There is no apple service provider in my location. Can I replace the inverter cable without having to take the MacBook to an apple store? is it easy to do? and can I use any inverter cable? or does it have to be especially designed for Macbook?
I have a black Macbook. The screen used to go black sporadically, and now it has totally gone black, and I couldn't get it to work again.
    Any advice????
    Thank you

Your answer is most helpful and sincerely appreciated, Level 6
Looks like the cable in question being identical throughout "The Black Period".
Looking at it right now it seems easier to patch than waiting for a replacement.  Will report back if it wasn't.
Mine is a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 13-inch Mid 2007, heavily hacked.

  • How to remove the usb cable

I just bought an ipad but I have to use real force to remove the usb cable.
I find nothing in de user guide about this.
    Is this normal?

Yes. It will loosen with time.
A very slight left/right wiggle (not up/down) whilst pulling may help.

  • How to detect a USB cable's speed rating?

The iMac is USB 3 compatible, I know.  I also know that there are no USB 3 cable available yet, but I want to use USB 2, rather than a USB1 cable.  I have a bunch of those cables, so I don't want to go out and buy a new one in a box marked USB 2. How do I VISUALLY detect which cable is a USB 2-compatible, and which is 1?

There are plenty of USB3 cables available, and USB3 cables are compatible with USB2, USB1.1 and USB1.

  • I can't charge my 4th Generation iPod Touch. There's no water damage and I replaced the usb cable.

About a month ago my iPod touch went completely dead and I didnt charge it for a few days. I tried to charge it on my laptop, but it didn't charge at all. The screen didn't even turn on. I noticed a few knicks on the usb cord so I just replaced it. I tried the same thing again and tried to charge it on my laptop. Still no luck and it didn't turn on. It's like my pc isnt recognizing it at all. I went through Apple's support steps and it doesn't have any water damage. I'm not really sure if its something wrong with the battery or what. I'm not familiar with apple products. Can anyone help? Thanks.

In what app are you trying to use a capital letter?
    Did it work before?

  • I have a USB cable is broken. Can I replace the new one

I have a USB cable is broken can I replace the new one

    Hi V_26th_heaven,
Your local Apple Store will happily replace the USB cable as long as the device you got it with (eg. an iPod) was bought less than a year ago. This is because the device and all included accessories have a one-year-warranty.
If you live far from an Apple Store, you can get Apple to send you a new cable via post and you would send off your faulty cable in a box that comes with the replacement cable. To do this, click on Support at the top of the page and select 'iPod Accessories' and choose your preferred method of service.
    Good Luck,
    Stefan

  • Can I back up by using USB cable?

I have a Macbook, i used to back up via internet, but my internet shut down recently, I can't connect any internet at my place. So, can I still use airport to do the backup? and how? maybe the USB cable can work?
    Thank you!

You do not need an Internet connection to perform a Time Machine backup from your MacBook Pro to an Apple Time Capsule or 802.11ac AirPort Extreme base station. Your MBP just needs either a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection to that base station.

  • What is the best way to keep your usb cable?

Yep, how about rest room? do you have one there too? -.-

  • Why did I have to pay for a new USB cable for my iphone when I didn't break it and it was only 6 months old?

The Apple store charged me for replacing the USB cable. It would work but if I move the cord it would connect, but then disconnect again. I got with my iPhone 5 6 months ago. It has a warranty and I had the Apple Plus Care that I paid extra for. It was in no way my fault that it broke.

If the Apple store refused replacement under warranty they clearly found
evidence of damage which would void the warranty

  • IPhone 3g Usb Cable Tear

I have 2 iPhone 3G and for some apparant reason the white cable has been ripping from the white plastic part that plugs into the iphone... Will the genius bar replace both usb cables.. The quality used was poor and apple should acknowledge the problem.....

The USB cable included is under the same one year warranty as the iPhone, so the cables should be replaced under warranty. This is a user to user help forum only, so no one here can answer for certain what a particular Apple store will do or not do since each warranty claim is on a case by case basis.
So call AppleCare at (800) 694-7466 to handle everything over the phone, or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • USB Cable for power only?

    Hey everyone,
I want to be able to use the USB cable to provide power to my Ipod, but not install Itunes. Here is the situation:
I have a set of desktop speakers at work and I like to plug my Ipod into them to listen during the day. Of course over time my Ipod battery dies and I need to recharge it. So I need to stop listening to music and plug the Ipod in b/c I can't seem to figure out how to get the USB cable to provide only power to the Ipod. The screen says "Do Not Disconnect" and won't let me operate the Ipod. Now it is my company computer and do not (and can't) install Itunes. Is there a way for me to get the USB cable to only provide power and still operate my Ipod. Yes, I could shell out the cash for another power adapter or one of those docking stations, but there must be an easier way.
So desired end state is: Ipod plugged into computer (with no Itunes) being charged and listening to music over the desktop speakers. Any ideas??

    Hi Raife!
First off, when it says "Do Not Disconnect" it is charging, but no, it won't let you fuction on it.
    Try this:
    Connect your iPod the computer.
When it says "Do Not Disconnect" on the screen, try resetting it: hold the "menu" and center buttons together for about 7 seconds. The Apple logo should appear for a few seconds before returning to a normal screen.
In this state, your iPod will be charging from your computer's USB port, but not displaying "Do Not Disconnect".
Note that when your iPod is completely dead and has no battery, it may have to charge while asleep/dead for about a minute or two before you can reset it or operatte it while connected.
Or, you can eject your iPod (you don't need iTunes):
In the bottom-right corner of your screen (with the System icons), there will be an icon that is a grey rectangle with a green arrow floating over it, representing the "Safely Remove Hardware" program.
Open it, and stop the "IPOD" process.
    I hope this helps you,
    -Kylene

  • LOST USB CABLE!!!!!!!

I want to know if Apple will replace a usb cable for my iPod Nano or if i have to buy it. And, if I have to purchase another cable, what stores would carry them?

Apple won't replace your lost cable. You'll have to buy a new one.
The Apple Retail stores sell them for about $20.00
You might also try stores like Best Buy and Circuit City.

  • Why iMac goes into coma booted in Ext HD Tiger hot plugging USB cable?

    Folks:
Had this question posted as "iMac goes into deep coma w/hot plugging USB cable??" on the "using your iMac G4" forum, got 63 views but have not received any replies there. Since I was booted up in Tiger 4.11 on my FW Ext HD, thought I'd try to post over here to see if I get some sage advice from this forum.
Was trying to experiment with ways to get my scanner to work if I finally decide to upgrade my iMac to 10.4.11 by booting up Tiger using External HD by firewire and then plugging in the scanner after that. As soon as the USB plug touched the port the computer "went black"--total crash. Took about 5 mins before I was able to resuscitate the machine with the power button. I repeated my experiment in the same manner and down she went again, down and out . . . . Tried to start it for a few minutes, nothing, went to dinner, came back, nothing. Finally, unplugged it for a minute and then she came back to the land of the living . . . .
When I restarted from the 10.1.5 internal HD I plugged the scanner in and opened the scanner app in Classic and all was fine. I like being able to use Classic apps and if it wasn't for the fact that my Camino browser is starting to crash when browsing the newer websites I'd have no reason to upgrade. Even if I get a new Intel computer I won't be able to boot back into the Power PC operating systems, right?
Anyway, would like to know if it is "well known" that you can't hot plug peripherals when booted up in external HD or if this is a "special problem" that only I am experiencing?
    Thanks,
    e.e.p.

Since the issue could be in the peripherals or the computer involved, this could
be a hardware failure of some kind. If you have replaced the USB cable, and all
other variables have been double or triple-checked, even a problem with the
computer's power supply could be at fault. Or there may be a partial short in one
of the electrical circuits involved with this USB cable and whatever it supports.
Please re-explain these other operating systems and their locations, since the
10.1.5 and other stuff seems irrelevant. Unless there is a hardware failure.
    And that is a possibility.
If you got an old early model Intel mac with 10.4.11 running in it, that would not
support Classic OS9 based apps directly. However, there are several sources
for replacement parts and also complete repaired and guaranteed PPC Macs.
There are limits in some, in what OS X versions and practical uses they may
allow now, with less online support & dwindling apps to run on the older OS X.
You may be able to look into the system logs and crash reports, via Console
Utility, to see what kinds of errors reports & crash logs the computer created.
Also, in System Profiler, there should be a Software> Logs section and it may
have some recent activity logs there. You can compare log creation times with
the intervals of these failures and see if a report matches your experience in
a real-time error log or other.
Is this USB port where the failure occurs, located in the external drive enclosure
or in the computer attached to it? What kinds of external FireWire devices and
USB devices are involved? Have you ran just the bare-bones computer & seen if
there are problems in just that, by itself? Troubleshooting invites checking it alone.
If there is an overload of some kind regarding a power supply failure under
only some circumstances, you could try a powered USB hub when using
several items attached to the computer; so it would carry that load.
Anyway, it sounds like a magical mystery tour is in store, in there.
    Good luck & happy computing!
