How to scale custom voltage readings

I am using a cDAQ 9172 and a c series module 9237 and I am getting wierd values for the pressure readings. I have checked this using a voltmeter and the voltmeter is giving me correct values. i.e. 0mV with no column of water on it and increasing mV readings as I increase the head of the water. Why is it that signalexpress is giving me -6.5uV when my voltmeter is reading at 11 mV? Can anyone help me please? is this an issue with scaling or something? I have the step setup for a custom excitation with 10V and a range of 17mV to 0V because that is the range for the pressure transducer I am using.

Hi Matthew,
I'm wondering if you've tried running a test panel in Measurement and Automation explorer just to see if your card is not damaged and behaving as expected.  As well, I'm curious where you are testing with a voltmeter- how to you have your hardware connected?  Would you mind posting either your Signal Express project or a screen shot of your configuration page?  I would highly recommend taking a look at this document on doing pressure measurements with the 9237.  Thanks!

  • Where can I go to learn about scaling voltage readings from different AI devices?

Ex. I have a Vaisala HMP 60 RHT sensor. How do I know what to scale the voltage readings to get the correct RH? I have seen values (such as 20 in the linear range for the Vaisala HMT 100), but I don't know where it comes from or why it is chosen. In case it matters, I am using several AI devices (thermocouples, MFC's, RHT's) on an NI-6343 USB board. I'd really like to learn more, but am finding information very tough/convoluted. Thank you for any/all help and direction.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thank you for the input/help. I think what I was looking for was that if you have a 5V output (for the Vaisala HMP60), then the slope would be 20 so that the zero voltage reading corresponds to 0% RH and 5V output corresponds to 100% RH. Hopefully this is right and their is no drift.

  • How to scale 32-bit signed integer data to floating-point voltage when acquring data in DAQmx by PXI4472?

I acquired data in DAQmx by PXI4472. For the high speed data logger, I used "DAQmx Read" to read unscaled 32-bit signed integer data.
Now, my question is how to scale 32-bit signed integer data to floating-point voltage?
I think that it's (20/(2**24))*I32 because the voltage range of PXI4472 is -10 to +10 and its resolution is 24 bits. But I cann't get correct voltage by that formula.

While you could hard code the scaling factor, it will be more flexible if you retrieve the scaling coefficients from the driver. To do this, you need to use the Analog Input>>General Properties>>Advanced>>Device Scaling Coefficients>>Device Scaling Coefficients properties under the DAQmx Channel Property Node. Look at the documentation for this property to see how it can be used to create a polynomial equation for scaling to volts.
Since you are creating a data logging solution, you may want to consider using a compressed data stream from the driver instead of the I32 data type. This will allow you to read the data back as a stream of u8's instead. Since the PXI-4472 is 24 bits, you will only have to write 3 bytes to disk for each sample instead of 4. You can check out the following examples for how to create an application using this compressed data stream. It also shows how to use the scaling coefficients to transform the unscaled data back to voltage values.

  • How to scale down number of pages in ps files

I am having ps files that are havings 4 to 8  pages per file. Each page may contain just 5-6 lines and therefore though the content in total is not too much but there is unnecessay paper wastage.
Is it possible to make some changes in code inside ps files throgh notepad so that the content may be restricted to lesser number of pages. I am having programing skill in vfp, need guidance that what changes i need to do in ps script and where.

  • How to scale current output?

    Hello everyone!
I have a pressure transducer that has 4-20mA output, I'm wondering if someone could tell me how to scale current. I know I can put resistor accross the output to produce voltage but I want to do it in current.
    Here's my hardwares:
    Cole Parmer - Pressure Transducer
    Power Input: 24vdc
    Output: 4-20mA
    Range: 0-100 Psi
    PCI-6024E (I also have PCI-6259)
    SCB-68
    Thanks!
    KowdTek
    LabVIEW 2009
One Step At A Time, Maybe Two...

Both test works just fine. I also test the input receiving a signal out of regular power supply.
This 6259 is realy flakey to me because we have another PC that has the same daq card and when I tried the code it works.
It's just too expensive to act up like this.
    Thanks for your time Sam!
    samantham wrote:
    Hello,
Lets try testing the 6259 by creating an analog output 5 V and wiring it into an analog input channel.  Another good test will be to send a 0-5 V sine wave into an analog input to check its response.  All this testing in independent of the code and configurations you are already using.
Then, I would suggest testing an analog input with your code but where the signal is coming from an analog output from the 6259 rather than the sensor.  I understand your code is intended to test current. So this last test would be without the 249 ohm resistor.
Let me know if the 6259 is working with these tests.

  • RAM voltage readings with DMM vs. Software on X58 Pro-E

I almost fell over with shock when HWmonitor and Speedfan both reported my RAM voltage spiking over 3volts when running Prime95. When idling the voltage readings fall to about 0.6v and jump around during use.
I set my RAM voltage in BIOS to 1.5v but software doesn't report that voltage at all.
So I grabbed my DMM and measured the voltage on the Mobo directly and found that the voltage is in fact exactly 1.5v
How is it the software can show variations in voltage from 0.5 to 3.7 volts when it's ALWAYS 1.5v when measured directly from the board with a meter?
I measure from the silver tab (center leg) of what I'm sure is a kind of transistor or FET, which I know is v output.
How can I trust any of the other voltage readings then? Especially the CPU v.

Quote from: Jack on 14-July-11, 21:56:29
Neither one of these utilities is actually able to correctly monitor the actual memory voltage.  Just ignore those readings.  They are absolutely inaccurate no matter how you look at it (@3.7V you memory modules would probably simply vaporize and @0.6V your system would not be running anymore).  These readings are IMPOSSIBLE readings.
Don't trust any memory related voltage readings that you get from third party software applications.
    There you go.
That's what I figured, I wan't suspicious until my RAMv hit over 3.5v nearing 4v when stressing with Prime95, I couldn't understand how it was so high and still working.
I mean, all the voltage readings on speedfan show what look like normal values when I know full well they're not the ones I manually set in the BIOS. It's frustrating.
And yes they're all the latest releases and by BIOS is up to date with new firmware but NO my OS is still vista 64 SP1 with absolutely NO updates installed. Though I seriously doubt that'll change any voltage readings I get in speedfan.
I'm almost tempted to colder connections to all the voltage points on the Mobo for easy DMM connection. But I probably won't cos it's not worth the trouble.

  • How do scale I from strain units to mV in MAX?

I am trying to setup a strain channel with 1/4-bridge configuration in Measurement and Automation Explorer. I want the channel output to be in Volts (or mV), not in strain units. I am going to try to setup a custom scale to convert from strain units to volts with this equation:
    Vo = Vex (GF*strain/4*(1/1+GF*strain/2))
Will this equation provide the correct results in Volts?
I know I could also try to measure the strain gauge signal through a "custom voltage with excitation" channel in MAX in order to obtain the desired voltage output, but this option does not provide offset nulling and shunt calibration like it does in the strain channel option (as far as I can tell). Therefore I would rather use the strain channel function in MAX instead of the voltage option.
Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Mclarge,
I think there is a couple ways to do this. A straight forward conversion of this would be to use the following formula (derived from an older T-DAQ VI that took voltage and converted it to strain).
Where S=strain value, Gfactor=gauge factor, Rl=line resistance, Rg=gauge resistance, Vsig=the signal from the strain gauge, Vo=the voltage from the strain gauge with no load, and Vex=the excitation voltage applied to the gauge.
The way that I would recommend is to yes, set up a custom voltage with excitation task and add the null offset and shunt calibration vis. Note that the shunt calibration vi is newly introduced with DAQmx 8.7 and the most recent version is DAQmx 8.7.1. This is available for free at ni.com/downloads. Please refer to the following article for information regarding load cells that could very easily be adapted to strain gauges.

  • Full-Bridge Strain Vs. Custom Voltage with Ex: outputs opposite polarities of eachother (SCXI 1314)

Please see my Sig for current hardware specs.
I have a manufactured load cell that I'm plugging into an SCXI-1314 wired for full bridge. When I condition and calibrate the load cell as a Full-Bridge Strain channel (shunt cal) my signal output is POSITIVE in compression.
If I take the same load cell plugged into the same channel in the 1314 and select Custom Voltage with Excitation and give it a mV/V slope curve in the Custom Scale the signal output is NEGATIVE in compression.
Why is this? I fear I'm overlooking something very rudementary.
Other than the polarities  being opposite of eachother the signals appear just fine.

  • Voltage readings from transducer

Hi guys, I am currently stuck in here. I am doing a program that can take voltage readings from transducer using three-loop structure.
I have a layout for that in my front panel. I am not sure if I am on the right track. Can give me your opinions on this?
    Many thanks!!!
    Regards

I get your point. What I am trying to do here is I first select a few channels. When the program is running, the total no of channels and the binary value
are displayed. By looking at the binary value, I am able to tell which channels are light on. Basically my objective is to get voltage readings from the transducer and save the data. However I like to do an "Initialise" before starting the program. In addition, I am looking on ways how to set timing for scan and data log for eg 0.5 hr, the panel will show this particular channel reading? U guys have any clues on this? Do let me know if you have problems viewing the file. Many thanks!!!
    With Warmest Regards

  • How to show custom error message in WebADI Excel template?

    Hi,
I've  created a custom Web ADI integrator and associated it with a 'Procedure' based custom interface.
WebADI Interface API Returns is set to  "Error Message".
I'm using  raise_application_error(-20001, "Actual Error Message") for invalid rows, but custom error message from PL/SQL  is not populated on the excel template.
Instead it is showing "SQL exception occurred during PL/SQL upload".
Am I missing anything? How to show custom error message from Pl/SQL procedure to WebADI Excel template?
    TIA
    Narasimha

The custom API errors are visible in the BNE log but not on the Excel.

  • Memory Problem on 790fx-gd70 - how to access DDR Voltage in BIOS?

I have been getting memory related problems on a 6 month old system. I could only boot from one stick of RAM (Corsair TW3X4G1333C9A) but even then system was not stable for gameplay or stability test though this stick did pass overnight memtest. I returned the board, cpu and memory for them to test. They diagnosed faulty RAM and replaced. Well it worked OK for 24 hours then I started getting BSOD "PFN_List_Corrupt" and "Memory_Management" crashes.
I tested the new sticks and one fails memtest after a few seconds with 2378 errors and the other, although it passes memtest with 20 passes, crashes out straight away on Prime95 Blend Test (i.e. the one that stresses RAM).
They suggested I enter DDR Voltage manually rather than relying on Auto but no matter what I seem to enable this option is greyed out. Does anyone know which settings need changing from defaults so I can get at the voltage section?
I have tried swapping around the dimms but they are all the same regardless so not a slot problem. Now of course, I don't see it as a RAM problem either unless I am the unluckiest person to keep getting bad sticks. So now I think maybe something on the board or CPU is causing damage to the RAM or at least causing it to mis-report. Could a fault in the memory controller be doing this and if so how can I test for this?
At my wit's end here. Hope someone has some ideas - either on how to access DDR Voltage in the BIOS or get to the cause of my problem.
    Many thanks.

OK thanks for explaining a bit more  .  This power unit did get some very good reviews in the sub $100 from many sites and from these I thought it would suit my needs. I have arranged to try a friend's 650w next week.
I think I am maybe not being clear.  I have had the system running OK for six months. I had had no need to test the ram and didn't bother with stability tests at that stage.  I am not a gamer and use my machine more for video and graphics work.  One thing I did notice from the start was the couple of games I do have on (Call of Duty and Fallout3) would give occasional freezes.  I put it down to my now rather old hot GPU which I would get around to replacing in due course.
Now the real problems started recently when I got round to replacing the stock cooler with a Titan Fenrir.  Trouble with this is it overhangs Dimm1 but in moving around the memory sticks I seem to have opened a real can of worms.  I could only get it to boot from one of the sticks.  This stick passed memtest but would crash out of prime95 and games would freeze within a couple of minutes.
Now, the retailers here in the UK told me to send back board, cpu and RAM.  They tested all 3 but they only replaced the memory and as you can see from my first post the memory related problems have continued.  The memory by the way is in Corsair's list as "100% tested compatibility".  Is it possible that something about the CPU/Board that is damaging the RAM?  If a stick is failing memtest (it failed another test too called Windiag) is that definitive?  It is bad for sure or board/cpu misreporting?  Am I right in thinking memtest86 does cannot distinguish faulty RAM from faulty memory controller?  Is there a test I can do to check if the CPU alone is faulty?
I don't know if this means anything to you guys but when I ran the prime95 (Blend) recently with both sticks in it failed straight away on 2 cores but went on running on the other 2.
One of my other frustrations is I don't know anyone else with am3 board or memory so swap things around.
Any suggestions for pinning this down would be much appreciated.  Just don't assume my knowledge is as great as yours  .  But I do learn.  I never knew v x a=w for example. And I now know how to change DDR Voltage in the BIOS - I had been expecting a sub-menu where Auto was greyed out and in fact it was just sitting there waiting for me to press + and -.  Very embarassing that I spent hours trying to change this when the instructions on what to do were right there in the help column!

  • How to register custom report under Custom Development Application

    Hi 2 all
How to register custom report under the Custom Development application in R12 vision DB, and also confirm location/folder of Custom Development application in R12.
    Thanks
    Zulqarnain

    Hi,
You may or may not need to "register" the workflow - it depends on the changes that you made and which Item Type you modified. Some applications are essentially hard-coded to use a specific item type and process, some hard-coded to use an item type but you can configure the process to use, and some allow you to specify which item type and which process to use.
Without knowing exactly what you have done, though, there is no specific advice that anyone can give you here on what you need to do, apart from to ensure that you have saved the new definition to the database.

  • How to Created custom report for Ship not Billed (SD/FI)?

    Hi all,
I am anticipating  to write some abap reports..Here is one of them..
Anyone can help  me with writing a Report , how to do 'Custom Report for shipped not Billed(SD/FI)' ..But since I am new to Abap , if you wish to reply, please use a little more detail and simple explanation, step by step so I can understand what is the idea, how it can be acheived...what kind of report should be used , techniques, tables etc...:)
    Appreciate your help!
    Regards,
    Boby

    Hi Boby,
You need to create custom transaction to achive these results.
you will have selection-screen ,it would be :
Date : Here date would be mandatory  - Ranges Option
Customer  - Optional field - Ranges
Order #  Sales Order (Optional) Ranges
    Invoice #  - Invoice # (Optional) Ranges
You will get the data based on ur selection-screen criteria ...
First you will have customer order details from diffrent table
    VBAK,
    VBAP,
    LIKP
    LIPS
    VBRK,
    VBRP
    KNA1,
VBFA Tables ( See the my sample program )
    Output would be :
Customer #   Custome Name    Order #   Delivery #   Invoice #   Netpr, Netquantity ,
Check the condition  whether invoice table has VBRK-RFBSK  = ''.
See the my sample program : This is sales report by monthly..
