I have been trying to setup the mobile hotspot on my phone and haven't been able to find any instructions on how to do this. If anyone can tell me how it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ha Amanda! First, you'll want to make sure your line has been provisioned for Mobile Hotspot service. You can add the feature to allow you to share up to 2 GB of data for 5 other devices for $20.00 per month. Once that is confirmed, please follow these steps to set up your device's mobile hotspot:
Settings> Wireless & Networks> Tethering & Portable hotspot> Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings> check mark next to Portable Wi-Fi hotspot. This will disable all other data access so that the data usage is allocated correctly. When finished using your Xperia Play as a hotspot, remove the check mark from Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

How to create a mobile hotspot with AccessConnections?

I wanted to share my Mobile Broadband/WAN connection via a 802.11 ad-hoc network the other day and so I also enabled the WLAN on my X201 tablet and then started the "mobile Hotspot" feature in Access Connections (right-most tab).
But instead of sharing my WAN internet connection via WiFi this started a crazy dance, where my Mobile Broadband connection was disconnected about once per minute (which also terminates the "mobile hotspot" feature). Then the WAN connection is re-established again which takes about 30 seconds and shortly after the mobile hotspot is started again, after which the WAN is promptly disconnected again etc.
Disabling WiFi/802.11 brought the WAN connection back to stability, but re-enabling it, started that crazy on-/off-shuttling again.
So, in short, it seems impossible to do this kind of connection sharing using Access Connections or what am I missing? Why is that so? Any advice how one can do such connection sharing (of an Ethernet or wireless broadband connection) via a wireless 802.11 ad-hoc network?
This is on an X201 Tablet running under Windows 8 Pro (x64).

May I suggest that you just wait some more time so the uys at lenovo have the time to get everything sorted out with win8. Especially if you have an older model...

How do I setup a guest network when the dialogue boxes do not show up in AirPort Utility 6.1?
I see screenshots where there are boxes to 'enable' guest network but these simply do not apear on the Wireless tab in AirPort Utility

I now have a guest account, thanks to you!
I did the factory reset and was able to set up the guest account.
There were 3 problems, all of which I was able to solve.
The first problem was connect to Ethernet, which I selected by WAN port, as shown in the first screen shot. This page used to read just Ethernet and the Bridge Mode.
The second problem was whether to share a range of addresses or share a public IP address. I selected share a public IP address as shown in the first screen shot. I had tried the range of IP addresses in my earlier attempts, the ones that failed. Hopefully this will have no effect.
I have forgotten what the third problem was - only excuse is a few too many flavored drinks. I didn't have any problems solving it though.
What is really weird is I can log on to Guest and use on my iPad (first generation), my wife's iPod Touch (third generation), and my wife's 2011 MacBook Pro. I can't log onto Guest on my 2008 iMac, even after a restart. I get the image below.
Since I don't lug my iMac around a lot and it is connected by Ethernet, while my little make it right brain says figure this out, I am not going to worry about it.

What version of OS X are you running? Go to the Apple menu>About this Mac and it will give the version number.
iCloud is available on Lion 10.7.2 or higher.

How to setup a usb printer on the usb port of a network storage drive

I have searched the forums and dont see any real info on this..
I have a usb based officejet 7590 , winxp, and a iomega home media network storage drive
the printer works fine when I install it on the local usb port of the laptop
BUT
its not clear how to connect it ot the usb port of the network drive.
DO I have to resinstall it as a network printer?
DO I have to resinstall device drivers if I already installed it as a usb printer for the local port?
Can I use the scan/fax functions if I do it right?

Don't know how to setup a simple VLAN on the RVS4000

I'm sure it is my lack of knowledge of networks, but even after reading the manual (!) I don't understand how I can set-up a simple VLAN on my new RVS4000.
On my good old DrayTek it's very easy: it shows me a matrix of check boxes and all I have to do is click the ones that correspond to ports that can 'see' eachother. Something like this:
               Port 1   Port 2   Port 3   Port 4
VLAN 1    x                          x
VLAN 2                      x        x
VLAN 3             x                 x
VLAN 4
So port 1-3 can all 'see' port 4 (the Internet router) but they can't 'see' eachother.
Can anyone please show me the steps to take to accomplish this? Thanks a lot in advance!

How to setup a validation table in the IBM AS400 ?????

I am trying to use the Java studio creator with the IBM AS400
and I am having difficulty setting up a validation table.
I created a totally new DB2 SQL table, with just a couple of columns.
However, when I use it as the validation table to setup the Datasource, I get the following message:
[SQL5016] Qualified object name PMABR not valid.
The ideal validation table exists only for connection validation purposes. Do not use an existing table that has a large number of rows or a table that will be frequently accessed.

So you can tuck the blocks from such tables out of the way, into their own part of the buffer cache... but that is not the same thing as guaranteeing they'll stay there. If you over-populate the Keep Pool, then its LRU mechanism will kick in and age its contents out just as efficiently as an unsegregated buffer cache would.
Functionally, therefore, there can be no guarantees. The best you can do is create a sufficiently large Keep Pool, and then choose the tables that will use it with care such that they donâ€™t swamp themselves, and start causing each other to age out back to disk.

How to track a mobile object, masking the others?

I work with spherical objects with a dimeter size equal to 100 micrometers. The objects are immersed in a fluid. They are movable, swimming in the fluid. I would like to track one of them, masking the others. Could somebody give me an advise how to do it?

You could use camshift/meanshift tracking based on hue-saturation histogram backprojection, or perhaps you could just try masking your image with backprojection only.
Spherical - since you are processing in 2D space, you can also try using Hough circle transformation to detect the circles and track them on subsequent frames using for example Euclidean distance from detected centers as your criteria.

I started a download of a Movie to rent on my iPad using a mobile hotspot. The HD version is taking longer to load than I have time. Can I stop the download to the iPad and rather downdoad a standard version to my Windows Vista machine?

We know that SAP hana's backup will use the same backup file names once the configuration is done for backup.
To avoid overwritting the previous backup files, we have following options (note that we are using "file" not "backint")
1) rename the generated backup files after the backup is done;
or
2) move the generated backup files to another location.
We want to achieve above goals by
1) OS level cron jobs
or
2) an xsjob in xsengine.
The challenge is that cron can only be started at predefined time while the the backup job can take various time to finish.
Therefore we wonder if xsenigin can provide any event-dependent job scheduling to help with this?
Questions:
1) is there any way to detect backup status automatically at OS level?
2) is there any 3rd party scheduler for Hana?

Actually you can assign unique names for backups.
Suppose we have $DAY = 'Friday'
hdbsql -n localhost -i [instance] -u [db user] -p [passwd] "BACKUP DATA USING FILE ('$DAY')"
will generate files like Friday_databackup_0_1, Friday_databackup_1_1 etc
