HP B209 Wireless Set-up...HELP!!

Just purchased new HP B209 all-in-one.  Here's my set-up:  HP desktop PC running XP; internet delivery via Comcast modem to Belkin N+ wirelss router.  PC is not wirelss capable, so ethernet cable runs from wirelss router port to ethernet NIC card in PC.  Installed B209 using USB cable from printer to PC.  Install went as per instructions, worked fine.    Now I  want my new Toshiba laptop to be print capable.  Can I do this while leaving the printer attached via USB to the desktop PC?  Do I have to remove the USB cable and establish a wirelss connection between my Belkin router and the printer?  This is so confusing!  What is the best way to set this up?  Thanks!
P.S.  I did attempt the "Change the HP Photosmart from a USB connection to a network connection" step, and when asked to select the printer, my printer was available.  However, after selecting it and going to the next step, I got an alert stating that the printer was not connected...it was!

Tried the wireless install with no luck.  Uninstalled everything and called HP support.  Support states that you have to hook the desktop to the printer via USB...no way around it.  So, intall with USB printer works great, but cannot get either my XP or Windows 7 laptops to connect wirelessly.  Call HP support again.  Long story short....after 2 hours and 13 minutes on the phone with HP support, even they cannot get a single laptop to connect wirelessly.  Two hours of my life I'll never get back....
No MAC filtering, changed wireless router to channel 11, changed all modes of security (WEP, WPA, WPA2), even turned security off.  No luck.  The printer passed all internal tests.  I know my router is good..so is the laptop.  What else do I try?
I've been an HP dude for a long time now, but this is probably the straw that has broken the camel's back.  If HP support can't get it to connect wireless, how am I supposed to be able to?  I paid for a wireless printer, so I guess I'll take it back and try another brand, though I hate to.  This really sucks.  Vent complete!

  • HELP PLEASE - HP Laserjet wireless set-up on Mac

Please help me - I can not set-up my HP Laserjet M1217 nfw printer on my wireless network (for wireless printing).  I am fully aware of, BUT can't access the wireless configuration utility via the Embedded Web Server.
I have checked to make sure the wireless radio is turned on.
I have printed out the Test Page/Configuration that shows my printer's IP address.
I have entered the IP address in my web browser but everytime I get "Failed to open page".
The set-up utility with the software is not help at all, it does not have any info about wireless set-up.
What am I doing wrong??  Please help me.  Please.

Even though your wireless radio is turned on, you have to connect to your router with your SSID and password.  Once that is done you should be able to use the EWS.   Has the printer been successfully installed wirelessly?

  • Photosmart B209 wireless install on iMac

Hello Trying to help my brother-in-law get his B209 connected wireless to his router. He has an iMac and netgear Wrt54g router. Downloaded and ran HP installer. It doesn't give the option of using WPA- personal only WEP. But if I configure the router with Wpa unsecured, the router sees the printer and I can complete the installation. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Hi,
Thanks for the response. If you are you using the Linksys WRT54g, you can try updating the firmware of the router according to the version of your router - http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT54G.
I've never heard of being able to set WPA encryption without a password. You must have connected the printer with no encryption security.
Another thing you can run is the HP Network Diagnostic Utility which will diagnose your network connection and recommend solutions - http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-926&h_lang=en&h_client=s-a-e021-1&h_keyword=dg-NDU&j...

  • Access wireless set-up program for HP 3050 printer

I'm trying to connect an HP Deskjet 3050 J610 printer to my wireless network.  It's an older model so the CD that came with it is not compatible with OS X 10.9.1, but the printer driver is already loaded in the operating system.  So I'm able to print using the USB cable but when I try to connect with my Belkin router via WPS the printer won't connect because it has a pre-assigned SSID.  I'm unable to find any configuration program on the computer that would allow me to change the SSID on the printer manually.  So far HP has been no help so I'm hoping the Apple community might have a few more answers.

Usually this is the case but this is a rather old printer.  It has no way to access a set-up program via the printer, only WPS capability.  That's why I'm wondering if there is a way to access it via the computer.  Mavericks has the driver built in but doesn't seem to have a way to access the printer set-up.

  • Hp laserjet p1505 wireless set-up

Hi! Our offce has hp laserjet p1505. Can we print by wifi? How can i set it up?

    Hi,
Based on the following information, your printer only has USB connection:
You need a wireless print server to be able to print wireless. Given the price of new printers today, buying a new wireless printer may ending up cheaper and no headache.

  • Time Capsule with Epson XP-200 wireless set up problems

I'm going through the Epson install software to set up my Epson XP-200 to print wirelessly.
I am running a network off of my TimeCapsule.   As instructed I have the printer plugged in via USB to my MacBook running 10.6.8.
I have confirmed that the MacBook is on my TimeCapsule network.
During the setup process in the Epson install software I am getting this error:
"The network channel assigned to your Wi-Fi network is not supported by the printer. This may disable your printer's Wi-Fi connection."
Any ideas what this means and how to fix?

Not an error I have ever seen, but not all channels are allowed in every region.
    See list here.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels
For instance in europe or any country using ETSI regulations the channels 12 and 13 are allowed..
But equipment made for US is restricted to max channel of 11.
Anyway have a try with just manually fixing channels in your TC.. that function is available in airport utility. Set the TC to channels, 11, 6, 1 in that order for 2.4ghz and pick what works best.
Whilst you are there, change the wireless names to SMB compatible.. since most printers are designed for SMB ie windows networking.. the names should be short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.

  • How to adjust wireless setting to static IP

I have a HP 4620 wireless. shows ready to go, but is "offline" to my laptop. I use two routers (ext)  in the house. Have tried to adjust settings as shown in one of the posts IP Address 254 or less.... but won't allow the settings. Please help me to solve this problem.

    Hi cleopatr
When you setup the printer make sure you set it up on the main router.
    Print a configuration report.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c03182247&lc=en&product=5191646&tmp...
If you have a valid ip address for the printer try and access the embedded web server.
Type the ip address into internet explorer address bar.
If it loads the printer's network page then the printer is on the network.
Power cycle the computer, printer and router.
    Try printing again.
I have included a document for Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection. Shows you how to update the firmware on the printer,  how to assign a static ip address, run the Print and Scan Doctor.

  • TG797n v3 log on to 10.0.0.138 User name and Password for wireless set-up

I have a TG797n v3 on Windows 7 to a Dell XPS via ethernet cable. Has been working fine, but. . . just aquired an iPad Mini for family use. When trying to configure the iPad Mini, I can't get past the log in requirements of the "found" wireless network. My laptops read it OK but the iPad keeps asking for a Password for the Telstra***** wireless network. I have tried every conceivable password I have ever used without success.I tried resetting the TG797, (by switching off the power for 1 minute, and pressing the rest button for 20 seconds, and leaving the power on and pressing the re-set button),and now it is asking for a User name AND a Password to enable log in to 10.0.0.138. I can't even get to the set-up page anymore!! I have re-installed the software from the CD that came with the T-gateway, but at no stage does it ask for a password. It asks for the SSID and the Wireless Key, but nothing else! and connection to the internet is established.(Otherwise I couldn't type this, could I?) So, where, and how, do I either retrieve the Password hidden in the TG or reset the password the iPad is looking for???I have configured the TG797 by disconnecting and re-connecting (no passwords asked for) I have searched all the Help topics and they ALL say " Just enter your User name and Password" . . . yeah, great if you can remember it or even resetit!!  Please, someone, there must be a simple (or complex) answer as a solution. Thanks in advance, Ian King.   (Telstra help, . . . anyone?)

    Hi dumbojojo,
Im sorry to hear that you are having difficulties,
The password you need is located on the underside of you modem unless you have already changed it yourself. It will often be listed as a WAP PIN.
If this doesnt help please see here Change wifi password or here  WiFi Troubleshooting
Finally, you are still having issues, please contact support on 133933 or Live chat here http://tel.st/hsc3

  • Wireless setting up Photosmart C310 series to Belkin Play usb wireless adaptor.

I am strugling to set up my printer to the Belking  adaptor. The printout shows that the SSID failed. Anyone able to help me please ?

Your printer can connect to your Orange Live Box wirelessly (or wired like your computer).   If your computer is connected to the Orange Live Box via Ethernet, your router will allow communication even though the printer is wireless and the computer is wired.
I don't think you need the USB card.  Just run the Wireless Setup WIzard from the front of the printer (Setup > Network area) to connect it wirelessly to your Orange Live Box, then download and run the software from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.

  • Booting Xp with wireless set to gateway on Mega 865 Pro

    Hi Guys,
Does anyone know how I can set the wireless card up to automatically switch to Gateway mode after XP has booted.
It goes into Station Mode by default but I can see a setting to say I want it to start in Gateway mode.
    Any Ideas?
    Danny

Dunno if you allready did, but you need to have the latest BIOS to run Win XP SP2 on the MEGA 865 Pro. When i bought mine, Sp2 wasn't out yet and things worked fine. When i tried installing SP2, everything went fine, untill i boot. Black screen and nothing, after a while MSI released a new BIOS fixing the problem, newest BIOS i think is 1.30

Du müsstest also Tastatur, Maus und Dongle immer komplett tauschen.
    Gruß
    Sebastian

  • Time Capsule with an established wireless set up

I am trying to advise a colleague with the following set up:
A Macbook pro connecting wirelessly via a Netgear DG834G modem/ router.
She would like to add a Time Capsule to this combination with the following criteria:
Keep the DG834G as the wireless provider, but add the Time Capsule with Time Machine to wirelessly back up the Macbook Pro and also utilise the spare USB connection for an Epson printer.
Is this a logical set up and are there any particular pitfalls? Can she start with an Ethernet connection to do the initial Time Machine back up? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

She would like to add a Time Capsule to this combination with the following criteria:
Keep the DG834G as the wireless provider, but add the Time Capsule with Time Machine to wirelessly back up the Macbook Pro and also utilise the spare USB connection for an Epson printer.
Like the AirPort Express Base Station (AX), the Time Capsule (TC) can be configured to join an existing wireless network as a wireless client. As a wireless client it will both continue to perform as the destination for Time Machine backups and act as a printer server for a single or multiple (using a USB hub) USB printers.
