HP Envy 5660 - Installation issues

Hello,
I just bought the HP ENVY 5660 printer and I can`t proceed with the installation because the touchscreen doen`t show anything.
After unboxing, removing all packaging labels and connecting to the power supply the touchscreen does not show anything and just stayns blank. I can`t proceed with any installation and I believe this printer is not working.
Can you provide me with any troubleshooting or should I just call to HP and ask for a replacement?
Regards,
Guilherme

This does sound like a hardware specific problem.     A few things to verify first:
1. Check to see if the SD card (memory card) LED is illuminated without a memory card installed. The SD card slot is located under a round swivel door below the On/Off button.  The SD LED should only illuminate when a memory card is installed.  If the LED is ON steady without a memory card installed, this is indicative of a HW problem.
2. Check the green LED light on the back of the printer above the power cord connection to make sure it is illuminated.
3. Verify that the On/Off button itself is illuminated. You may need to cup your hand around it to see.
Also, is there any backlighting to the display at all (white, grey, green, etc.) or does it just appear blank with no life?
It might be quicker just to swap out the unit at the store; however, if this is not convenient, I would contact HP to get it exchanged.  Like any device, you can sometimes have a failure, but so far folks have raved over this model.
Best of luck!

  • HP Envy 5660 scanner issue with Mac Yosemite 10.10.4

I have an HP Envy 5660 all in one. It is connected wirelessly to my Mac with Yosemite - OS X 10.10.4 Operating System -- the printer component works well. The scanner component does not show up at all.  I have loaded the scanner software and completed all updates. The scanner shows up in my Applications list, when I click it it goes to  HP Scan page  - I click the scan "button" and i get a "no scanner selected". I click "Browse Scanners" and get "Choose an HP Scanner" - no devices are listed. In the "search window" on this small screen it says "All".  I don't know what I am mising or not doing to get the scanner to work.

Hey ,  I see that you're unable to scan to a Yosemite machine with your HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist.  I recommend you try the following steps:  Uninstall your printer - click here for instructions.  Repair disk permissions on your Mac - click here for instructions.  Once you've finished running the above-noted utility, restart your computer. Lastly, click here to reinstall your printer.  When that sequence is complete try the scan setup as recommend in this HP article. You can follow the 'Scan with HP Software' and 'Scan Without HP Software' options. Alternatively you could try installing the HP Easy Scan app for your Mac. Click here to install (it's free).  Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post. If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below and clicking to accept this solution. Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Have a great day!

  • How do I scan to text using OCR on the Envy 5660?

    Hello,
Prior to ordering an HP Envy 5660 printer, I confirmed that OCR text recognition is expressly included in the Printer Specifications for the HP ENVY 5640, 5660, 7640, and Officejet 5740 and 8040 e-All-in-One Printer Series document here.
As you can see, under Scanning Specifications, which apply to all models listed in the above document’s title, it says: "Scan to text: Integrated OCR software automatically converts scanned text to editable text."
I have now received and set up the HP Envy 5660 printer that I ordered. It is connected via USB to a MacBook Pro running Mavericks (OS X 10.9.5). After clicking the Download HP Software link on the accompanying CD, I was automatically connected to HP's Product Setup area, from where I obtained the latest driver package for my operating system, "HP-ENVY-5660-series_v12.39.0.dmg." Using the "Custom Install" option, I installed “Essential Software,” “HP Scan,” and “Product Help."
The print and scan functions on my HP Envy 5660 are working, but regardless of whether I scan a page of text via the printer’s control panel, or the installed “HP Scan” application, or the installed “Image Capture” application, I can find no evidence of integrated OCR software, and no option to convert scanned text to editable text.
Please tell me where to locate the specified OCR software, and how to enable its operation on the Envy 5660.
    Thank you.

Greetings, @TeaMasterLing , welcome to the community!
I read through your post about how you are attempting to use OCR software that was to be included with your printer software installation. I was unable to recreate this situation here on my lab computer to see what you are seeing on your end.
For that reason, I cannot provide you with a possible solution and would suggest calling in to phone support, as they can log on to your computer if need be to see how the issue could be resolved to have the OCR software working for you.

  • HP Envy 5660 Will Not Print in Color from Desktop

I have a new Envy 5660  e all in one printer. Prints in color from my I phone and I pad but will only print in black from desktop running OSX 10.6.8.  No error messages just will not print color from my Mac.

Hello @zeitman , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having issues printing color. I would like to try and assist.
Due to system limitations, the printer requires a minimum of 10.7 to be installed.  You can, however, download and install the Mac print software relating to HP.  This should allow you to have functionality:

  • HP Envy 5660 - Paper jam message

Our HP Envy 5660 printer is 2 weeks old.  It was purchased at an electronics chain store.
Set-up was easy.  No issues until the second week of ownership.  An error message popped up reporting a paper jam issue.  Followed directions to take out the jammed paper.  Note, there was no paper jammed nor any pieces of paper stuck in the printer.
I thought perhaps the paper tray needed attention.  Not the case.
No changes have been made to our system before the issue occurred
Somebody, please help us clear up this problem.
    Thanks, Tomodachi

    Hi @Tomodachi
Is this the document you used to troubleshoot the original paper jam message? A 'Paper Jam' Message Displays on the Control Panel.
If not, please skim through it to ensure you have done all of the necessary troubleshooting. If the issue persists, I suggest leaving the printer on and unplugging the power cable for a minute to perform a hard reset.
If the issue still remains resolved, I'd call HP. If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.

  • Can't send email on Envy 5660 printer

Have new HP Envy 5660.  Almost too sophisticated for me and small info screen requires steady hand and stylus.  I tried to send an email and when I finally got my email address in it wanted a pin and I can't remember whether I ever picked one and if I did I forgot it.  Don't know how to get info or change pin.  If I could do it on the computer maybe I could read it.  My question is how can I get a pin so I can use my email function?

  • Lightroom 4.2 Installation Issue

Leaving this around in case anyone else has the same problem -- Solution found -- Windows installer issues / registry issues -- used the Microsoft Fix it tool (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651#reso3) to correct.  4.2 install ran fine.
I've read through the posts in the Lightroom forum regarding  LR 4.2 install issues. I will list here the things I've done to try to get the install to work:
    1) Downloaded the installation software twice.
    2) Ran the setup program in admin user mode.
    3) Ran the install in admin user mode.
    4) Get the following error in a Windows Installer window:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Adobe_Lightroom_x64.msi' in the box below.
    Use source:
    c:\Users\RMJF\AppData\Local\Temp\{...}
What I have found (after displaying hidden AppData folder):
The location where the .msi file resides is different from the one defaulting in the above window.
I select this alternate path, but still cannot complete the installation.
Furthermore, when I cancel the install, I get this error:
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.2 64-bit Installer Info
Error 1714. The older version of Adobe Photoshop Lightoom 4.2 64-bit cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group
I have been running LR since the beginning of time and most recently LR 4.1, so there is no 4.2 installed.
Also, I tried to fix the install of 4.1 via the programs in Control Panel. I cannot repair it and get this error:
The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.
All versions (except the 1.0 version) were downloaded and installed from the Adobe LR site.
    So, looking for suggestions.
Seems like there are some missing files from the 4.1 version that are hindering the install of 4.2???
All quite frustrating.  Hope you can get me to a speedy solution.
(System info:  Windows Vista 64-bit Home, SP 2, 20 GB of disk space to spare!  Also, I have set the install program to be allowed by the anti-virus program. I have run a registry clean-up, as well.  No other apps are running during the install.)

  • Forms 10g Installation issue on windows 7 Professional service pack 1

    hi
I am trying to install oracle forms 10g  64 bit windows 7 Professional service pack 1 ..
Below are 2 files that i am using ..
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip (626,122,752 bytes)
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip (236,880,881 bytes)
But it failed but the error is ..
Checking operating system version: must be 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2.    Actual 6.1     Failed <<<<
just wondering if there are any workaround ..

Christian is right - Forms 10g R2 (version 10.1.2.0.2) is not certified for installation on Windows 7.  You must apply a Forms 10g R2 patch to bring the version to 10.1.2.3.0 for it to be certified.  You must have a My Oracle Support account to obtain the patch.
Now, to your question - is there a workaround; the answer is yes.  There are known issues with this installer.  I'll list them and their workaround.
    1.  The Oracle installer checks for a specific set of Windows versions rather than check for a minimum Windows version.
Workaround:  Right-click the Installer and select Properties.  Click the Compatibility tab and click the checkbox: Run this program in compatibility mode for:  Windows XP SP3).
    2.  The Oracle Installer can't detect Windows Managed Virtual Memory (VM).
Workaround:  You must temporarily change the Virtual Memory settings and specify specific Initial and Maximum sizes.  See this Microsoft article for more information on changing VM settings.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
This change will require you to restart your computer.  After you have successfully installed Oracle Forms 10g, you can restore the original VM settings.
    3.  The Oracle installer MUST be installed as an "Administrator".
Workaround:  Windows 7 uses "Least privileged user" so you must right-click the Installer and select the Compatibility tab.  Click the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox.
    4.  Not a Oracle installer issue, but you will have to install the 32-bit version of the Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) (1.6.0 - not 1.7.0) because Oracle Forms is a 32-bit application so it will not be able to use the 64-bit JRE.
Run the Oracle installer and it should now install succesfully.

Just delete the folder .config in
