HP ENVY m6 Notebook PC trackpad issue even after HP repair

2 weeks ago i sent my HP ENVY m6 Notebook to the HP Repair center because i was having major issues with the trackpad. It would not move fluidly,and click, and move on its own.
I received my laptop back today anticipating that everything would work perfectly but some of these same issues are still occuring. The touchpad and the cable that connects it were both replace and the laptop was wiped clean.
The toucpad will work for sometime then all of a sudden become glitchy. This is really effecting my usage of the computer. It is a huge inconvenience to pay for a laptop and have a major component malfunctioning. I'm currently using a wireless mouse again.
Since the hardware was replace is there a software problem. This sems to be occuring to so many people.
What is going on?

  • MacBook Pro Retina showing spinning ball issues even after Main Logic Board Replacement

    HI there!
    I'm a proud owner of Macbook Pro, 15 inch, late 2013 model. It has 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 processor; 16 GB Ram, 1 TB PCIe based SSD. The software version is OS X 10.9.4. I have AppleCare.
    1. MY mac developed rainbow beach ball issues. Sometimes it'll last for ages. I took several videos of them. I spent hours chatting with online Apple advisors. They did everything they could possibly do: Repair Disk, Repair Disk Permissions, SMC reset, PRAM reset. When nothing worked, I did clean-install the Mac six or seven times. Every time other apps would randomly cause the spinning ball issues. My Mac even restarted all on a sudden because of kernel panic. So at last, I took it to an Apple Store which is a one-mile drive from London. They diagnosed it as a graphics issues and replaced the Main Logic Board and put it to standard testing which revealed no other anomalies.  After the repair, I noticed that dock icons remain present for a dew seconds when I restart or shut down the computer. So this time I took it to a London Apple Retail Store. The Genius at first diagnosed it as a display burn-in issues and sent it to be replaced with a new one. However, next day the technician who actually worked on the computer, phoned me saying that they could not reproduce any issues and did not replace the display either. I went to take my Mac back and discovered that the dock icons stuff still persist when restarting or shutting down the Mac. When I drew their attention, they told me that it was a software issue that Apple is aware of. Apple might resolve the issues in the future updates. Well, after getting back to my hotel room, I clean-installed my OS  from USB and the dock icon issues were gone. Same version of software, but different behavior.
    2. But that's not the reason I'm here. My Mac has again begun to show the rainbow beach ball one day after the repair, when I try to connect to my Airport Time Capsule through Finder in order to selectively transfer files to my Mac. This time the spinning ball would last for a very short time. But if I want, I can regularly reproduce them. I've also noticed this when installing MS Office for Mac 2011 edition. I'm sure I'll get the nasty ball as I use the Mac more and more.
    3. I've got some questions: Can it be that during the MLB replacement, some other connectors got harmed? Or the issues are not specific to graphics only? Why didn't Apple find any anomalies during testing? I'll go to Apple Retail Store again, when I get the chance to. Once there, can I ask them for a full replacement of the Mac? Shall they take my request otherwise? I really don't feel comfortable using a shouldered computer which is going to go through many parts replacements.
    4. I sincerely need your feedback. Please help me guys out there.

    Applecare was no help at all. I called and did the complaint. They confirmed that it is registered to me and everything but essetially told me that they cant give me answers as to what is taking so long. They knew a repair was in progress but wanted to set me up with an appointment at an apple store? (the nearest Apple retail store is Billings which is 240 miles away, or about 4 hours). i tell them its at the repair place and they go on to tell me they can send me a box to mail it in and have it reapir by them.. They are trying to shift the blame to the AASP and his rep. But he said he has been trying with very few answers from Apple as well

  • Issues even after updating to build 14.3.A.0.757

    List of problems that I am still facing with my Z1 Compact..
    1. Walkman widget does not work in lockscreen 8 out of 10 times at least, if not more.
    2. Notification sounds still cracks, though the ringer issue appears to be solved.
    3. The back key never functions while "IN A CALL". Also, if I try to type something while "IN A CALL" the keyboard never appears no matter how many times I tap on the typing panel.
    If this is the standard of your development, then, unfortunately, competing with the likes of IPHONE 5S shall always be a dream.
    And as a consumer, spending 35K over a phone shall compel a user to atleast expect the basic functionalities to work properly.
    But may be. SONY INDIA does not care about it's customers!!  At least both the KITKAT 4.4.2 builds make me feel this.
    I have always been a SONY ERICSSON/SONY user since 2004 but this phone is causing me **bleep** lot of troubles.
    Guys, my post is sincerely directed towards SONY developers/testers/othersonyexecutives.
    I am definitely looking forward to a reply from SONY regarding these above mentioned issues which still persist even after the second update.
    P.S. Please do not ask me to repair using PCC or SUS. They didn't work. I cannot do them again and again!!

    I have a black Xperia Z1 Compact with a build date of 14W04 (week 4 of 2014) which I have just updated for the first time since purchasing SIM-free from Phones4U, using Sony PC Companion on my Windows 7 PC, to Android 4.4.2 and Sony Software 14.3.A.0.757 and fortunately (and very untypically) I do not seem to have experienced any of the reported problems at all. I have just taken several flash photos in the pitch dark indoors using Superior Auto mode and I cannot identify any flash bleed or uneven flash illumination as reported in other topics and threads. I am really very surprised, because from my past experience with technology in general, if there is a possible potential technical problem around, I always seem to be one of the unlucky people who it affects! However, I do agree that the overall photo quality does not seem to be nearly as good as would be expected from the apparently impressive documented camera specification and is really quite dissapointing! I wondered if a third-party Android camera app would improve photographic performance, or if the obvious shortcomings are too deeply associated with the camera lens and/or the Sony firmware?

    hello everyone  i'm having a "growling" issue with my head  set even after setting up a dummy alsa as mention in this wike page: Monster/low-octave "growling" distortion over mic after trying the stuff on that wiki I had a look here in the forums and found this post   Skype + microphone = growling[SOLVED] but I'm still getting the feedback on the other side of the call also if I use the dummy alsa skype crashes  below is the output of amixer

  • HP ENVY-j005tx Notebook Video Card Issue

    I bought this laptop 6 months ago (still under warranty) mainly for gaming purposes
    Was happy with the laptop's specs (especially its 16 Gig of Ram), until I found that the Graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M) wasn't enough to run games from past the early 2000's (Something that definitely wasn't advertised when I bought it)
    I've since updated every driver I could for the graphics card and the pc-all to no avail
    For a laptop that cost me about (AU) $1700+, and was advertised to me as a great gaming option,  I'm not exactly happy with how it's performing
    I'm not keen on buying another computer right now- I've only had this for just over 6 months
    I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card by a fair bit- maybe to a GeForce GTX or an AMD-but anything even slightly better than what I have would be great
    Am I able to upgrade with this computer? I don't mind if I have to deconstruct it-I just need to know if I can

    Basically you can, with a cost and I believe this cost may be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:
    New card price,  and WHERE you can buy it because laptop cards are not the same as desktop cards. You can't buy from any normal shop,
    Need new system board (may be),
    Need new cooling system because generally speaking more powerfull card pumps out more heat (you want more powerfull card don't you?).
    May need new PSU because your current PSU may not suitbale to the card. (I ordered a machine with Nvidia card and I needed to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal 65W charger. They simply rejected my order).
    Labor cost.
    Many, many packets of Asprin.

  • Trackpad Failing even with Multiple "Repairs"

    Hello! I just spend about 25 minutes typing out a detailed email to the apple contact who gave me his contact info personally to follow up with him, but the email failed and said the user did not exist, so I suppose he was either terminated or left the business. Instead of re-hashing everything I am going to literally paste the email I sent him as I don't have much time and i need to finish some class work. Here's the email. (PS. I have tried pretty much everything. and this post is completely sincere and it should fall within apple support guidelines.) This is more of my "story" than anything else.
    Hello Mr. Hartly. I know it has been some time since we last spoke, (5 months to be exact), but I wanted to give you an update on my situation. My Macbook Pro SN: C2*****RJ7 was purchased from you several years ago as a refurbished machine and a Christmas present to me from my parents. I cried. It was the best gift I had ever received. Since that day, the laptop has been the car industry's equivalent of a "lemon". Within the first 2 months of having it, the logic board died. This is before I knew anything of computers (I now am very educated in the subject) and I was glad that I could just get it fixed by replacing it. Once this was done, I almost immediately started having issues with my trackpad on the device. When I would use it for any prolonged period of time it seemed the mouse would freeze somewhere on screen and I couldnt move it. Fastforward a year or so after using a magic mouse, and I am starting college. I would like to have a laptop I can actually use in class without toting a separate mouse that defeats the purpose and convenience of having a laptop, so I take it in again to be worked on. They tell me at Computers Plus in Corridor G in West Virginia ********, the nearest "certified apple repair store" that it is almost definitely a bad trackpad. I fork over more cash to get it replaced. The issue happens within 20 minutes of getting home. I call them back and they say to bring it back in and they would fix it for free, after a week of having my laptop they replace my hard drive and charge me 50 dollars for it and said they "didnt charge me for the labor." like i should be thankful. Fed up at this point, I contact your support team via phone. They were very helpful and I ended up speaking to you ( you can look up my old repair ID: ********.) after speaking to you, you told me to send it to you and you would fix it free of charge. I was so excited at this point. ECSTATIC even. I'm finally going to have an apple macbook pro! I love editing videos and I couldnt wait to install my software onto the laptop and get to work. The fixing process happened extremely quickly. I had it back in less than 2 days which made me nervous considering the fact that the local shop had it for a week. I read what the note in the box said. "1 Replaced Trackpad". So thats 2 trackpads now. I test it out and it still freezes after a couple hours of use. After emailing you, you suggest that I completely reinstall OS X onto the device. Frustrated and put out by the run around and lack of fixes, I put it aside for a while as classes started. About a month and a half ago, I was bored and wanted to do some tinkering, so I made an OS X usb bootable and reinstalled the OS. So excited to see if it worked, I started going through the initial setup and initial menus. about an hour after installing the os and doing some classwork/watching some media, guess what. Freeze. Unresponsive. Frustration. Defeat. I sit the machine aside and tried to forget about everything. No one was going to help me, and I have already spent so much money, that I could have just gotten a NEW MAC TO BEGIN WITH. I could honestly cry when I think about it. Fast-forward a month or so to last week.
    Just the other day, I pull out the machine to let my girlfriend do some classwork on, and she complains that the trackpad is unresponsive and asks for a mouse. Frustrated, I give it to her the magic mouse. With the frustrations and disappointment fresh in my mind, I make a note to find your email address and tell you my whole story from beginning to end. I don't want other people to have the same experience as me. I truly do not want this to be taken as a disgruntled and frustrated boy; I haven't spoken negatively to anyone about the incident and I haven't raged about or talked about it on social media. I WANT apple to succeed. I think you're one of the greatest, if not THE greatest producer of technology on the planet.     An Iterator.delete() has the spec:
    public void remove()
    Removes from the underlying collection the last element returned by the iterator (optional operation). This method can be called only once per call to next. The behavior of an iterator is unspecified if the underlying collection is modified while the iteration is in progress in any way other than by calling this method.
    So when in your example the second iterator modifies the underlying collection it breaks the first instance iterator behavior which has then an unpredictable result.
    Using a List.iterator() seems to change nothing :
    public Iterator iterator()
    Returns an iterator over the elements in this list in proper sequence.
    Specified by:
    iterator in interface Collection
    Returns:
    an iterator over the elements in this list in proper sequence.
    So you code isn't garanty to run as you quote it running. The i2 is safe not i1 if you use i2.remove().
    I did this test:
         List v1 = new Vector();
         v1.add("1");
         v1.add("2");
         v1.add("3");
         Iterator i1 = v1.iterator();
         while (i1.hasNext()) {
              Object o1 = i1.next(); // At second iteration I got a ConcurrentModificationException here.
              Iterator i2 = v1.iterator();
              while (i2.hasNext()) {
                   i2.next();
                   i2.remove();
              System.out.println(o1);
    That's a typical unexpected results because hasNext() answered true but next() failed.
    Now if your question is why this spec, I dunno, I could only guess that the purpose of Iterator generic interface is to allow to have efficient implementation at price of non concurent modification access.

  • Consistent Data Issues Even After Replacement

    I don't know whether to blame the phone or the ice cream sandwich update for all the problems I have been having with my RAZR. When I first got it six months ago it was great and I loved it now after the ice cream sandwich update I dont really like it anymore. I never had any sort of issues while using it on gingerbread. Today, I have seen my phone switch constantly between 3g and 4g more times than I can count over the course of half an hour. I couldn't even get a consistent signal to watch a 3 minute youtube clip.
    First off, I updated it to ICS but first wiped the phone clean including cache, etc. So it would have basically been a clean install. Now, I have certain issues. The 4g and 3g switch is terrible. On the street and in my own house I have had the same thing happen. In my house I get anywhere from 3-5 bars of 4g but it still switches over to 4 bars of 3g. I have even seen it switch from 4g to 3g when I had full bars. I have already replaced the sim cards, but I am still having these issues. It's actually happening on all 4 of my RAZRs on my family plan. I have gone through the network resets where I pull out the sim card and for 30 seconds, insert it, power on the phone, etc. I went through all 4 of them with the Rep over the phone. I have also had several instances where I did not have data but signal bars and then I didn't have absolutely anything at all. I live in a "major" city metro area, Boston, and I can't believe I am having these problems.
    At first I would have gone off and blamed Verizon, but it is definitely not Verizon, it is our phones that are terrible. I can confirm this because my brother uses an ipad (4g Verizon) on a separate account and he consistently maintains 4g even though I have seen it go as low as two bars. Yes, I understand the ipad is a different device and may have a different radio, but that is exactly how our phones used to work on gingerbread. I received a replacement device and I am still having the same issues. Also, the headset speaker, not the speaker on the back, or receiver is really tinny during phone calls even with the in call volume down half way. It is really annoying and the little tone that plays after hanging up makes the speaker sound like its about to blow out. I don't know what to do if the RAZR will keep having data issues because this is absolutely ridiculous. I know i'm not entitled to anything but for $310 a month I mean come on, I just want my phone to work properly. As I am typing this now, I have witnessed my phone switch between 4g, 3g, and no signal at least 5 times and of course my brother's iPad on Verizon has kept its 4g signal.

    Thanks for all the suggestions, but they just don't work at all guys. I've even tried that restore connectivity app from Motorola, but of course it didn't work. I don't like that I keep having constant switches between 3g,4g, and no signal bars. It's awful thats just what it is. I feel like I got gipped with this update promising better user experience. If the darned thing can't connect to their network, then what is Verizon doing to address these issues? Every time I try to do something "data intensive" (i.e. youtube, facebook, twitter, etc) the data signal just drops and I'm either left with gray bars and no data or no signal bars whatsoever. Also one thing that annoys me to death with this phone is that I have it sitting in my pocket after I lock the screen and I go to pull it out of my otherwise empty pocket. The screen is turned on by itself (I have the clear silicon case on it so the power button shouldn't be pressed by itself and no I don't wear skinny jeans), its got 3g and no bars, and its piping hot.
    WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PHONE VERIZON???!!!

  • Visualisation issues even after changing gfx.direct2d.disabled to be true

    I had a really weird defect rendering text and pictures. Searched in the net and found out the resolution to change the value of gfx.direct2d.disabled from false to true. Things went better and now I see pages well. However I still discover issues especially with drop-down menus - I can't see any of them. Also if for example my download finishes the little pop-up window which appears at the bottom right corner is visualized in the same manner - blurred white-blue lines with nothing that can be distinguished. I'd be glad if I could send you a snapshot. The problem does not persist in other browsers , so it's not a hardware one.

  • Adobe reader issue even after latest update

    I have installed the recent adobe reader on my windows 7 (g 72- C55DX notebook PC) multiple times but it will not open files. A message comes up: "please update your adobe reader". based on the online support i have fixed my settings and enabled javascript as well but still no improvement I am not able to open files. Please let me know what I should do to resolve this matter.Thank You!

    Chrome and Firefox use their own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin.
    That leaves Internet Explorer; what is the exact message you get in IE - can you post a screenshot?

  • No Service issue even after Iphone Restore

    Hi,
    I am getting No Service issue on my iPhone 4s. So I restored it in recovery mode by connecting to iTunes. However, there was no luck, the problem persist. Now, I am suspecting that this could be the hardware issue.
    My main concern is, 3 years earlier, I bought this device in US and I am in India now. Also the device is out for warranty. I am not sure how do I connect to US support and get this thing repaired or replaced.

    Yes, the phone unlocked by the carrier before you relocated to India. And I contacted the carrier in India, they replaced my SIM and its working fine with other phone. However with same SIM I am getting No Service on my iPhone.

    When my MB Air sleeps and wakes up the cursor is not visible and the only way to sort is to restart. This seems only to have happened after the latest 10.8.5 upgrade

    Well, nevermind.  Things mysteriously starting working again.  It was strange; If I clicked on Mission Control, there was no grey backgound.  LIkewise there was no background for the dashboard.  Maybe there was some issue with loading these backgrounds that prevented the service from running.

  • Palm TX replacement unit has white screen issues even after hard reset

    I hope somebody can help me find a solution.
       I was a happy Palm OS user since the early days of Palm III.  After a Palm III and a V, had a Sony Clie that lasted a long time, but finally pooped out, went to a Z22 and broke the screen, then almost but not quite a year ago (in warranty, supposedly), purchased a Palm TX.  Worked great for a while but ended up with a unit I couldn't turn on or off because the power switch had died.  Worked around that by keeping the sync cord in and powering on by pushing the button and then canceling.  Finally sent it in for in-warranty repair.  Got back a new-to-me unit.  
       This worked fine for almost a month, then it started (with no new software or usage patterns) to have blank screen issues.  To solve this I have tried many things.  Soft resets, hard resets, leaving it to fully run out its battery for weeks at a time.  Nothing works; it continues to go blank on me.  In addition, the sound is strange and screechy when it beeps (e.g. accepting time zone after reset).  I bought the TX in the US when I was home for a visit last July, but am living in the Netherlands currently.
       I contacted the Palm repair center in the UK that replaced my original unit; they said would pass on word of my troubles to Palm and Palm should contact me, otherwise to e-mail them.  They haven't.  I can't find an e-mail address for to explain all of this to anyone with any power to help me.  I have tried to use the Palm support website to solve this problem, but neither the original serial number or the serial number of the replacement unit I have now is showing up as eligible for warranty repair.  I have tried to call the US Palm support number (http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/47005_en.html#howservice), but I get "calling is temporarily unavailable."  When I click "here" when asked "If you wish to query the warranty status of your handheld, or would prefer to arrange a repair through our Technical Support service, click here" (https://www.euroservice.palm.com/repair_entry/NLD/EE) I end up on a page that says simply "Please Enter the Source Url."  I am hesitant to supply credit card information for an issue that, if it can't be covered under warranty (which I think it should be, since I'm still within the original 12 month warranty period), I may well abandon.
        I am very frustrated in trying to get this fixed.  I am disappointed in the dwindling support for a PDA (that is not a phone) with Palm OS.  Since I am living (though not comfortably or well) without my calendar, address book, alarm, reader, dbs, cookbook, checklist, etc., I am seriously considering leaving the Palm OS.  My preference is to get this fixed, and my idea nearly a year ago was to ride the Palm OS until it disappeared completely (subsumed into phones anyway), but my problems have discouraged me to the point that I am wondering if this is my end.
       Does anyone have a suggestion?

    I don't know how to tell for certain if this is a US or a UK device, but it looks identical to the one I bought in a store in Seattle, and the first five and the last two num/letters of the serial number are identical.  I do know that when I sent it in originally for the power button failure, that the Palm repair center understood that it was a Palm purchased in the States.  Their description of the goods received is "Palm TX , US and ML" so it seems apparent that they knew it was a US device and rather than refusing to repair it, they had me send it to them.  And when my repair was returned, the repair details list "unit exchange" and type of unit is again listed as Palm TX US & ML.
    Well, regardless, I appreciate your pointing me in the right directions to someone who can help me.
    Ironically, I am no longer having the same issues with the Palm.  The latest round of letting the power run out after a hard reset and sit for a few weeks seems to have "fixed" it.  At least, I have been trying to break it (by using it) without success.  Recharged it, synced it, checked and sent mail with it, used all the programs I used to, and I haven't had a white screen in the past few days.  Hope my luck continues, but I don't trust it.  All hail frequent syncing.

  • Brand new HP envy 4500, streaks and lines missing even after calibration & cleaning

    Bought printer last week, just installed/setup the printer for the first time.  No error messages or anything and everything looked like it went smooth.  
    I printed a few test pages (print quality, print status, calibration sheet) and have lines cut off at the same sections.   Also for the colour box (black/grey/light-grey), the solid black box has grey bars going across.  The grey & light-grey boxes look fine.  All the other coloured ones boxes are fine too. 
    Used the options to clean printhead, align printer and clean ink smear, however that didn't do anything.  All the 2nd test pages were cut off and had streaks at the same places.
    Is there anything else I can do to fix this?

    I would recommend that you contact HP Support about this, as you may require a replacement.

  • External hard drive won't mount, even after disk repair.

    My Toshiba external hard drive won't mount on my MacBook Pro 10.8.5. I can see it in my disk repair, and when I repair, "the partition map appears to be ok." But I can't access the icon to be able to open the hard drive contents on my desktop. Help!

  • ITunes will not start even after permission repair, disk repair.....

    Let me continue plst files, deleted old install and re-installed, downgraded version, ran disk warrior, tried new user account. Backed up everything re-installed fresh OS, still did not start, installed update plus latest version of iTunes. Still does not start. Called Apple support, did the usual permissions repair etc..... Ran Apple Hardware Test no problems found, TechTools Deluxe no problems, MemTest no problems.
    On hold now waiting for Apple support again. I am assuming at this point there is a unknown hardware issue. Any ideas?

    You really went the extra mile trying to pin down the culprit! So.... who was the culprit anyway? which hub? the keyboard acts as hub, was this powered or un-powered, too? which would be of interest.
    Instead of hub, maybe a PCIe USB2 card?
