HP L7780 Completely locks up after new router installed - MAC

I had to replace a Linksys router WRT54G with a newer model WRT1900AC Dual Band. The printer was working fine with the old router. Now I use the Wireless Wizard to set up the new router and it locks up. The only way to "free" it up is to turn the router off and turn the printer off, then turn the printer back on and turn the wireless radio off. I am using a Mac running OSX 10.8.5. I see in other forums to update firmware but that appears only to be on the windows side.
Any help is appreciated. I spent a lot of money on this printer to have to junk it.
Thanks!
Raissa

Hello @3408RaissaS,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing issues when attempting to configure wireless on your HP Officejet Pro L7780 All-in-One Printer with your new wireless router. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue.
Now, due to the age of your printer there is no Firmware Updates available for your model of printer on your Operating System. Therefore, this will not be an option for your specific unit.
Because the printer worked wirelessly with your old router we know that the wireless card within your printer is functioning. Therefore, there may be a setting within the router that needs to be adjusted to allow for your HP Officejet to connect and communicate wirelessly.
Just to confirm, at which point does the printer freeze up (after you select your network name, enter your password, or when it tries to connect to the network)?
Because you're now using a dual band router it is crucial that you are connecting your printer to the 2ghz band. Printers are not supported on 5ghz connections. This means that the computers that you want to use wirelessly with your printer must also be connected to the 2ghz band. If you're not sure how to check what band you're connecting to, you may need to speak with the router manufacturer.
Please respond to this post with the answer to my question above. Once I have a bit more detail I will be happy to guide you towards a fix. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Printer no longer detected after new router installed. Tried everything. Please help!!

I have a Photosmart 2575 printer which has worked well for a number of years.  It has a wired connection to my router.
Recently I installed a new router (Sky fibre hub) and now the HP software (and any other printer/scanning software) is unable to detect the printer on my network.  This is odd, because both my desktop (wired network connection) and my laptop (wireless network connection) can see the printer and I can install it using the standard windows 7 functionality.  I can also browse the embedded web server, so I know for sure that my printer is on my network and accessible.
But despite numerous attempts to make the HP Solution Center software to work I am unable to print/scan etc from that software.  I have tried many different "fixes" including full Level 4 uninstalls before reinstalling the software, resetting the netowrk settings on the printer, deleting the printer from everything on the network etc etc but nothing has worked.
I have tried using the HP Print and Scan Doctor software but that doesn't help.
I am totally mystified by this apparent lack of connectivity.
    Can anybody help, PLEASE PLEASE!!

Success at last, but only after many hours of trawling through HP and Microsoft forums, and numerous attempts to make the connection!
But here's a summary of what I did for anybody else with this issue:-
    1. I meticulously removed every trace of anything to do with HP from my PC and disconnected the printer from the network router.
This requires numerous "level 4" uninstalls to clear any previous falied installs and deleting everything in the temp file afterwards:-
    1. Press the Windows key, and the letter R
    2. Type %temp%
    3. Press Enter, or click OK
    4. Open the 7z folder
    5. Open the util folder
    6. Open the ccc folder
    7. Double click the Uninstall_L4
    2. Using Control Panel_Programs and Features, uninstalling anything left that might be HP related
    3. Carrying out a disk clean up using Start_Accessories_System Tools_Disk Cleanup and repeating this for system files
    4. Follwing the procedure found from the following link to check that the print spooling is working, and that any dependencies are "started":-
    Link to post
In that thread there is a further procedure to follow which requires opening a command prompt in administrator mode and carefully inputting the command line
    sc config spooler depend= RPCSS
(note the space after the = but not before)
    5. Running msconfig.exe and on the general tab, clicking "selective startup", unchecking "load startup items", then on the services tab, hiding all microsoft services, and deselecting all items [remember afterwards to re-run and go back to a normal startup!]
    6. Restart PC
    7. Disable Firewall [remember to enable afterwards]
    8. Launch Internet Explorer (I had previously been using Chrome)
    9. Download AIO software from HP website
    10. Run and connect printer when prompted (making a note of the printer's IP address)
    11. The networked printer wasn't found immediately, so click on advanced and then input the printer's IP address
    12. Success - the printer was finally detected and installed correctly.

  • HP C7200 printer/scanner not working with Mac after new router installed.

I recently had my DSL modem go out and replaced it with a combo modem/wifi router. Since the install, my mac can't detect my printer. If I install it via the printer's IP, it'll detect ink levels for a day or two, but still won't print, and won't even detect the scanner. It says the printer is off-line when I try to print. I've rebooted everything, reset the printing system, downloaded updates, and downloaded the latest HP software. Nothing helps. So much for "just works".
My little Windows 7 computer was totally trouble-free after I reinstalled the printer.

If the printer does support Bonjour and it does not appear in the Default Add Printer view then I would say that the Mac is set to a different subnet to the printer (and the Win7 PC). This could also explain why you can add the printer via IP but it won't print.
If the Mac is definitely on the same IP subnet as the printer then check you don't have an application running that could block Bonjour.
With regards to IP queues, ensure you select HP Jetdirect rather than the default of IPP (Win7 will be using Jetdirect which is known as Port 9100). Also, some drivers cannot be used with network connections. If the printer supports Postscript then try a Generic Postscript printer to test. If it doesn't support PS but supports PCL then there is a Generic PCL Laser driver you would try.

  • Frustrated and Need Help with AE after new router installed

My AE worked fine on a previous router that ran through a modem. I now have a 2 Wire Modem-Router combo and cannot get my computer to recognize it. I am running Windows XP. I have plugged the AE base station directly into the router and configured it but, as soon as I disconnect the ethernet cable, it stops working. I have tried to join a wireless network in client mode but my computer, since it does not have a wireless card only a router, cannot see the base station. Which way do I go? Do I setup the base station while connected by ethernet cable or do I try to setup in client mode wirelessly? If while connected by ethernet, what settings? My routers is DHCP and does have a password associated with it?

  • Adding Canon MP620 printer to network after new router installed

Just changed routers in order to get fibreoptic. all devices easily connected apart from Canon printer. Have re-installed drivers and followed directions but laptop ( windows7) just can't detect the printer...?

This is device specific problem. Try to contact Canon directly for help
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/standard_display/contact_us_consumer
Otherwise I would disable firewall and analyze the nework communication. If there are any error messages or error IDs in Event log (or even bad installation yellow question marks in device manager), then follow the appropriate troubleshooting steps.
It is useful to provide as much information as you can do so we can suggest repair steps. Sometimes it is better to remove driver with driver installation package and then reinstall the driver. (Otherwise some remnants of old driver software may case problems.)
Also optional update may cause ghost printer installation on different IP address.
Hope that the IP address pool is not exhausted and Canon can obtain IP address. (Ping may or may not work.)

My apple wireless keyboard is not working after new batteries installed.

Do you get a steady green light to say there is a connection.    If not, are the batteries the right way round.   Do you have a monitor to tell the batteries strength. Is there a reading.   Are the batteries good quality ones, Duracell, Energiser or Apple rechargeables.

  • Compaq Presario C303NR Doesn't Completely Start-up after New RAM Upgrade

    Hello Paul,
This is Tammy. I finally made time this morning to upgrade the ram in my laptop, model C303nr. And, I'm in desparate need of help because something went horribly wrong.
The laptop boots up to my desktop, but then I get nothing but moving vertical lines, much like tv snow, but more structured. I've taken the new memory out a couple of times and tried to re-seated it, but I get the same results. Moreover, when I tried to put the old memory back in, the exact same thing happens. Have I completely broken my laptop?
Can you or someone out there please help me. This is my first attempt to do something like this and I feel absolutely heartsick over the results.
Clinging to hope for a fix,
    Tammy
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi Paul,
After the other tech responded by asking me to connect the laptop to an external monitor to check the video card, I decided to take another go at the ram first. Note: My only external monitor is packed knee-deep in a storage room and would have been a nightmare to unearth, so going toe-to-toe again with the ram seemed considerably less challenging at that point.
I have a small hand-held vac that I use only for blowing dust off of figurines, so I pulled it out and blew the inside of the laptop out as best I could without taking the entire bottom cover off. Then I blew the old ram off for good measure. After I re-installed the old ram, the laptop booted and the screen about windows not shutting down properly came up. (Note: Because of my earlier problem with the ram, I had to do a hard shut-down.) Safe-mode was one of my options, so I chose it. After fully booting into safe-mode everything appeared okay... no vertical, moving, snowy lines. I shut the laptop down and then started it again in normal mode. (Note: Didn't use restart. Did it the long way.) The laptop booted fine again.
Somewhat encouraged, I decided to take a chance on the new ram. So I blew it off for good measure too and installed one stick. Restarted and everything worked just fine. Shut it down and started it again. Everything still okay. Blew the second stick off,  installed it, and restarted the laptop... fully expecting something to go wrong here. Nothing did. Shut the laptop down and started it again. All surprisingly okay. I hadn't used this laptop since our previous modem/router went out, so I had to set-up wireless connection. All remained okay... and appears to still be okay. Currently running, though it is not the one I am typing this message with.
In summary, the only thing I can figure out is that I inadvertently introduced dust into either the ram seat or onto the ram itself. Or, that in spite of the ram appearing well seated to a novice, it wasn't. (I had read someone else's thread that indicated this as being a possibility.)
(Note: I went into such detail above in the event this thread might help someone else at a later date with his/her own ram upgrade problem.)
    A much relieved and grateful...
    Tammy

  • IMac completely locked up after last update

I have an iMac i5 from about 2010, I think it was the last iMac that was made without a Thunderbolt port.  It has been running kind of "hinky" for several months now.  I installed Yosemite on it after that, and it seemed to help.  After the last update, which was installed today, it is completely unusable.  It boots up and takes several minutes to do it, and I can log in a user, but when it finally gets to the main screen I can't do anything.  Any time I move the cursor over either the top bar or try to bring up the bar from the bottom of the screen, I get the Rainbow Pinwheel of Death.  That also happens whenever I click the mouse.  About 20 seconds after that the screen blinks black, comes back up without the top bar, blinks black again about ten seconds later, and comes back up with the top bar.  If I move the mouse or click the mouse, I get the pinwheel.  I'm watching it while I type this on my other iMac (newer), and about every minute the screen goes black for anywhere from a few seconds to half a minute, then comes back up, usually with the Pinwheel of Death where the cursor is on the screen.  I can hear the hard drive working almost constantly.
Prior to this the computer had been very slow, with the hard drive working a lot and taking several seconds to perform functions that it previously performed instantly.  About a year ago I got that stupid pop-up with Obama's picture on it where some scammers try to take over your computer, but from what I hear that doesn't work with Macs.  I immediately deleted the account and that seemed to help.  After that I installed ESET for Macs, and yes, I've heard that it doesn't really do anything and I should remove it, but I've also heard contrary opinions on that.
I've asked questions on forums about the computer being slow, but no suggestions seem to help.  Now I can't perform any functions at all.  Can an iMac be brought up in Safe Mode, like a windows machine?  Please help.  While this is not my main computer anymore, there's still a lot of functions I use it for and it is critical to my business.

Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on
the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should install the version of OS X that was installed on the machine.

  • JavaScript for completely locking pdf after digitally signing

I currently use both Abobe Acrobat XI and Livecycle Designer ES4.
When i want to add the option to completely lock down a document after digitally signing (inc disabling of the 'clear signature' option) i execute javascript within the properties of the digital signature which works fine no problem.
Im lead to believe that Livecycle will remove any scripting from a pdf created within acrobat as it uses its own flavour so to speak.
My question is, does anybody know what the Livecycle equivalent is to have the option of locking after signing (as image) and disable the 'clear signature' feature post signing?
    Any feedbcak is appreciated.

Not sure where your pic is from.  But in LC Designer you can specify what you want locked after signing.

  • Can't complete wireless setup for new router. Printer keeps looking for old router.

I'm not able to connect my printer to my new wireless modem. My printer continues to look for the older wireless modem. I'm using windows 8. In setup, when it gets to the window "change usb to wireless," my printer can't be found.  I printed out the HP Network Configuration Page and it shows that the new network is "discovered." On the Diagnostics Summary, the "Wireless On" and Wireless Working" passes, but "Network Name (SSID) Found" is Fail.
Where in Win8 can I find my router properties? I might can enter the printer WPS PIN there, but can't find it! Thank you for any help!

    @judyw217, Welcome to the forums!
I hope to help you with the connection issues you're having when trying to connect your Deskjet F4580 to your "new network" as you now have a new router. I have a few ideas in mind that you can try to get started!
First try power cycling the network devices. Sometimes all of the devices just need a restart!:
Turn off the printer and computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press any buttons on the router).
Plug the router back in and wait another minute, next turn on the printer and computer.
Now check to see if your SSID is found (your network).
If the network is still not found, try running the Print and Scan Doctor on your computer to see if the tool can detect your printer and add it to the network.
If the printer is still not connecting to your router, check your router settings. If you need assistance checking the router settings, contact your router provider. I will let you know which options you are looking to check:
Network name and password to have no spaces or punctuation.
If using WPA2 security, switch to WPA personal.
Dual broadcast Wireless b/g/n (printer may connect to g).
    Turn Mac Filtering Off.
Firewall settings need to be at there default settings, or set to a lower security.
    Multicasting "on".
Following ports need to be un-blocked:
    Incoming (UDP) ports : 137, 138, 161, 427
    Outgoing (TCP) ports : 137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500
Just to add, here are instructions to help you with Setting Up the Printer for a Wireless Network for the HP Deskjet F4580 and F4583 All-in-One Printers

  • Time capsule not found by airport after new router

I have a time capsule that I do not use as a router, just for time machine.  It worked fine for a year wirelessly backing up my macs but then I moved and have a new router.  Airport no longer finds the time capsule and it says I can't back it up my macs because the backup disk cannot be found.  I tried plugging the TC in to my modem but no luck.
    Thoughts?
    Thank you!
    Beth

Plug the TC into a computer by ethernet directly.. press and hold the reset until it starts to flash rapidly.. about 10sec. Then the utility should be able to find it and simply set it up in bridge mode..
You should download the 5.6 airport utility for lion as v6 is a toy. You can run both side by side and keep 6 for pretty network pictures.

  • Problem installing Flash MX04 after new OS install

    Hello,
I have just installed WIN XP Pro that came with SP2 on my
notebook. I am trying to install my Studio MX04 suite but when It
gets to flash MX 04, it gets to 95 percent of the install and
    shoots an error out.
    The error is the following:
    Unhandled Exception
    Error Number: 0x80040703
Description: Failed to find dll function:
    Macromedia_Licensing_Installer.CdaSysInstallEx2
    Setup will now terminate.
This message comes after being 95% completed according to the
    install progress bar.
    Background:
The notebook is a HP Pavilion zd7160us with 512 MB RAM and
    2.8 GB Processor
Totally new clean install of Win XP Pro with SP2 (just
    purchased)
Legal copy of Studio MX 2004 (just installing again after
    wipping the other OS off)
DW, FW, FHMXa, and Extention Manager all installed without a
    hitch.
Was installed previously on same notebook with XP home.
I have found other forums where people are having this same
problem but with no resolution to the problem, and all of the
inquiries seem to be linked to SP2.
I would really like it if someone knew why this is happening
    and how to fix it.
    Thanks,
    Bob

I seemed to have solved my issue!
For some reason there was a Flash MX 2004 folder in my
system, there should not have been because I formated the drive
when I installed the new OS. But I deleted that Flash folder as
suggested in another forum and the install went through fine. I am
    now downloading the updater 7.02

  • Mac Pro refuses to boot after new drive instalation...

    Hi
Could anyone shed a bit of light on my problem - Ive just got a new 500gb seagate drive, - when I load it up in order to format, im faced with a blank screen, and os x refuses to even think about booting up - there is also an odd click which Im guessing is the boot drive trying to start.
The new drive slots into place fine, and I made sure I was earthed out before touching it...
When the new drive is taken out, the system starts up without a hitch.
Do I have a duff drive? - or am I missing something blindingly obvious?
    Thanks for any help
    Maxine.

    Hi,
Funny that I saw this message, I am the person that had the exact same problem on the 20th of December.
After trying to install the HD, I had the problem as well. I ended up taking the computer in to my local Apple store, and they kept the Mac Pro.
It is now January 5th and I still do not have the system. Called them an hour ago and they said that the part (they didn't mention what it was) was on BACKORDER, so they had to decide if they were going to wait for the part or give me a brand new system. Hmmmm.... Could this be a NEW hidden problem for the Mac Pro now?
I wanted to purchase an iMac, but was afraid of the lock-up issues. I am starting to regreat my choice and wish I had got an iMac, at least I would have some kind of file server for my network
All I can suggest is to take it in to your local Apple store and let them check it, and then ask if they could fix it right then, or you two could have a system that's not able to be workable.

  • Time Machine error message after new motherboard installed

    Hi folks,
I just had a new motherboard installed on my MacBook Pro, and now whenever Time Machine tries to do a back-up (on the same external drive I'd used previously for Time Machine), I get an error message that says there isn't enough space.
It appears that the attempted back-up tries to back up the entire internal MacBook drive (rather than just the latest updates).
In other words, since the external drive already has the old data on it, attempts at back up fail.
Is there something I need to update? Or, do I need to delete all the data on the external (i.e. Time Machine) drive and let the system do a complete back-up?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
    Vic

You could try the procedure in the article linked below, but I recommend that you first start a new TM backup on another drive. You need more than one backup anyway. I haven't tested the procedure myself and I can't promise that it won't destroy your backup set, even if you do it right.
