My HP officejet pro 8600 plus, makes a lot of noise while printing, ink levels are ok, and printing is ok.  it was makiing lines before but not anymore

    Hi,
Check first if the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet.
Check if the carriage is moving freely and there is no obstructions inside the unit.
    Clean the paper rollers once.
See if doing these helps you
    Thanks

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus Not Recognized On The Network

I have a CenturyLink DSL Modem/Router that has 4 ports on the back.  I use Port 1 on the DSL Modem/Router to conntect to my NetGear Router.  I use Port 2 on the DSL Modem/Router to connect my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus printer.  I use Port 3 on the DSL Modem/Router to connect my Brother MFC-7360N printer.  I am not using Port 4 of the DSL Modem/Router.
My NetGear Router is used to connect all wired desktop PC's (5) in the house.
I was able to successfully install the software for the Brother printer on all computers and can print on the Brother printer from any of the desktop pc's.
I have the software for the HP printer installed on all computers but on the WIN XP desktop pc I cannot detect the printer on the network.  During the setup process the software detects that the HP printer and the WIN XP pc are connected to two different routers (the DSL Modem/Router is being detected as a router by the WIN XP pc).  On the other desktop pc's which are running either WIN7 or WIN8 there is no detection problems even though the printer is connected to the DSL Modem/Router while the PC is conntected to the NetGear Router.
Does anyone have any knowledge as to why I am having this problem.  The problem seems to be only with the WIN XP pc and not with the WIN7 or WIN8 pc's.

You are running a double NAT scenario, not good.  Simple fix, put the gateway unit (modem/router) in bridge mode, which will disable the router functions and just make it a modem.  Now connect the Netgear router to the gateway unit and have this handle all your wired and wireless connections.

    Hello Barbara, aka @Maltesem ,
I read about scanning issues you're facing with your Officejet 8600 Plus stopping in the middle of a scan. The "full" driver could very well be missing and causing this issue. Here are some of my own suggestions I have to offer you.
    1. Uninstalling the Printer Software from the Control Panel. Ensure you remove all printer components.
    2. Restart the PC (important)
    3. Download and run the installation to install the "Full Feature Driver": HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver
Try scanning again. If the scans still cancel, ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
If the problem still continues, call us directly to talk about your printer options with HP.

  • Officejet pro 8600 plus won't shut off

About a week ago my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus stopped responding to the power button.  Now the only way I can shut off the machine is by unplugging it.  The power button in front of the machine wont work anymore. Please help!

    Hi everyone,
I understand you're all working with an Officejet 8600 that's not responding to the power button. I will certainly do my best to assist you all.
Mrstenter had posted a firmware update that if you haven't done yet, it is definitely recommended. If that doesn't resolve your issue though, it could also be a power issue. Please make sure your printer is plugged directly to a wall outlet not a power strip or surge protector.
If after those two things the printer still won't respond to the power button, please call HP Tech Support for your area and inquire about an in warranty replacement or and out of warranty trade in.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus - "Scan to Computer" issue on Mac OSX 10.8 or 10.9

    Hi...
I have started experiencing the notorious "scan to computer not working" issue on my 1-month OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus, after having used the feature a number of times flawlessly.
There are a lot of potential solutions mentioned in dozens of relevant posts for both Mac and Windows, e.g.:
"Failed to open a session on the device"...
Scan to computer does not work...
Problem scanning to computer with an 8600 wireless
Unable to enable print to computer...
Enable Scan to Computer - Communication Error
Officejet Pro 8600 Utility does not show my Mac computer in scan settings
A 'Connection Error' or 'No Computer Detected' Error Message Displays during Scanning
HP Wireless All-in-One Printers - Communication Error between the Scanner and Your Computer...
    Etc.
However, in my case, no solution works, after several frustrating hours of trying to fix the issue, in Mac OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), or after upgrading to Maverics (10.9).
The behavior of the device points to a software issue, since:
The printer is visible on the network
The print function has been working fine
    The HP Scan function works
The generic Scan function from System Preferences works (although in earlier times it did not, or it stopped working soon after invoking it)
The "Scan to Computer" option does not appear in the HP Utility screen (although occasionally, after random sequences of unistalling and installing the software, it reappears)
The HP Installer crashes before completing the installation (this is a latest symptom, apparently happening before unvoking the HP Setup Assistant, which still works fine)
As already mentioned, I have tried all possible solutions, including software and firmware updates, Apple drivers, HP drivers (full featured software), clean (un)installations, followed by computer and printer restarts. Nothing seems to work.
The "Scan to Computer" feature of the 8600 always works on my Windows 7 laptop, after initial configuration.
The next step will be returning the device for a refund, but before resorting to that, I am giving it a last chance, in (the unlikely) case there is something new I have not tried yet.
    Thanks,
    PNS

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus N911g Devices and Printers Page Is Slow to Open

Hello, I have HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, model N911g, installed as a wireless printer.  I have Windows 7 64-bit.  My Devices and Printers page takes over two minutes to open.  While I am waiting, if I go to Print Spooler Services and click Restart, the page opens right away.  Once the page is open, in the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus device, I ran Troubleshooter and it took about 1/2 hour to finish, and it reported and supposedly fixed a problem in the Print Spooler service.  The assigned Port looks like a recovered port.  However, if I restart the PC and try to open Devices and Printers again, the delay is still present.  I had trouble installing the HP program including the Scan to PC functionality, because response time was so slow.  Now it's installed and working, but the HP program is quite slow to open.  The spinning circle spins and then stops, almost like it has given up opening the program. Then several minutes later the program opens or the requested action begins.

Check the document I linked below. Step 6 might be the solution you are looking for but it will not hurt to start from the top.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus will not print but is connected and says that the print job is 100% Complete

    Hi All,
I'm printing from a MacBook Pro using OSX Lion. It says that Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is connected and that the print jop is
100% complete except that nothing comes out of the printer. I've done all of the test prints and they've printed just fine.
I tired all of the troubleshooting steps listed on the support guide and still nothing. HELP!

Not a reply but another plea for help.
There seem to be so many people with wireless problems that a) it seems silly to start a new thread and b) which one to enter my own plea.
-Printer bought about 2~3 weeks into Sept 2012
-Installed onto Macbook Pro running Lion (full updated at that time)
-Both wireless scanning from printer to computer and initiated from computer worked fine.
-Printer, with full choice of duplex, layout etc, worked fine. (Even left 5star feedback somewhere!)
-Set up eprint. That OK, too. Fine from iPad2 and SE Arc S printing photos.
-Somewhere along the line it stopped communicating with my MBP
-Out of interest, since there seemed to be no problems with an Acer laptop running Vista, I booted the MBP from an external drive on which I'd done a backup of my 10.6 system iMac (>300Km away: can't try that). Installed HP software from disc. Seemed fully functional. Odd. Very odd.
-Restarting with Lion on MBP, tried again. Looks as if it might work, but loses connectivity. Tried manual address on printer.
-Booting from 10.6 system again, reinstalled Lion on MBP (wondering if conflict between HP and Apple updates)
    -Reinstalled HP software from disc.
    Still didn't work.
-Brought Lion up to date. Downloaded most recent dmg file from HP. Looked for updates. Have applied firmware update to printer
8600 doesn't list my MBP as available computer to scan to
[But all the test pages done whilst in HP Utility, and others, get sent through]
Am getting rather fed-up with all this; never, ever before have I had so much printer problem.
There seem to be a number of Lion users out there with the same problem. So far -but very infrequently tried- other machines/systems seem OK, therefore I am coming to the conclusion that it is an Apple<> HP conflict. If not sorted soon the printer will be returned as it is not fit for purpose. I'll revert to using my seldom problematic, non duplex A3 Brother.
    Hrumph
Please help, someone! Either with a pointer to something I've not yet tried or by analysis and rapid availablity of updated software.
    Thanks,
    Mike W

  • Now really can't print from Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

This is my second attempt to get help.  The first help made it worse.  I had been unable to print from my wireless printer from my MacBook Pro, iPad, or iPhone.  After about 20 hours I got it to print from a cable (it sees my network but none of my devices can see it).  So I posted here asking for help and was told to uninstall the software, repair disc permissions, and reinstall the software.  But when I downloaded the new software my computer would not install it because it says it is for Mac System 10.7 or less and I have 10.10.  So now I can't print anything at all.  I need this for work.  Please help me fix it for real.  I can't take this any more.

Thanks for providing that information JeanneS1. I have provided some more information that should help us resolve this issue. I know you have already spent a lot of time on this, but I am willing to continue trying to get this working properly over the wireless network.
Power cycle the router, restart the Mac and the printer.
I would print off a Configuration Page to see if the printer still has a valid IP address.
Try to access the printer's Embedded Web Server. If it connects then the printer is still on the network.
If you don't have a valid IP address, once more run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer.
Setup a Static IP address for the printer, this way the router will always assign the same IP address to the printer. Which should stop the disconnection.
Here is a document on this issue. But for now just follow Solution two: Assign the printer an automatic static IP address under Mac. Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and delete the old driver, click the + sign to add the driver, you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.  (Officejet Pro 8600 Plus)
    Here is a screen shot.
    Then test the printer.
You might need to update the printer's firmware if you haven't already.
How far is the printer from the router?
Here a few causes of why the printer can lose the wireless connection:
The recommended distance between the printer and the router is 1.0 meter to 1.5 meters (3 ft to 5 ft).
A nearby device that emits radio signals (such as a microwave or cordless telephone) might interfere with the wireless connection.
A virtual private network (VPN) prevents the printer from accessing the computer and wireless network.
The network connection is no longer active, or has low signal strength.
The printer goes into sleep mode or standby mode.
A firewall prevents the printer from accessing the computer and wireless network.
What kind of router are you using?
What kind of security are you using? (WPA2/WPA, WPA Personal, WEP)
What band is the router set to? (2ghz or 5ghz)
I believe by changing these settings on the router will help with this issue if it continues. You might need to contact the router company to make those changes.
Make sure that on your wireless modem, the channels for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz are fixed and are not set to automatic !!
Select channel 6 for 2.4Ghz and channel 36 for 5Ghz frequency.
Hope this helps get you up and running again.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus will not print from my MacAir

I have used my MacAir to print on my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus for about 5 months without any problems.  All of a sudden my printer will not print.  The wireless icon says it's connected to the network.  But when I click print it says "looking for air printer" and then "printer not connected".  I've repeated the Wizard Set Up for the wireless connection.  I've turned the printer and computer on and off.  I've even tried printing from my iPhone but it will not find the printer anymore.  Please help!

You are saying that you have been printing fine from your computer for 5 months and now your printer says it is connected to the network and your computer says that it isn't.
Have you recently upgraded to Yosemite the new Apple OS? If not what OS X are you using?
Are you sure that the printer and your devices are on the same network?
Does the router give your printer an I.P address?

  • Printing wirelessly on officejet pro 8600 plus

I have recently purchased an e printer (Officejet pro 8600 plus).  I have set it up on my laptop as well as mobile phone.  I have printed photos from my phone, emails from my phone, emails from my laptop, word documents and excel documents from my laptop.  It will only print sometimes.  I think it may have to do with the printer going to sleep.  On my mobile phone, I get a message saying ePrint job delayed  because the printer is turned OFF or not connected to Internet.  Well, it is on.  When I actually go to the room where the printer is located, if I touch the screen and press Apps, sometimes, the printer says "connection error", unable to connect to the server.  Other times when I have done this, it does make the connection.  It seems that if I wake up the printer, I can eventually get something to print.  But that defeats my purpose of the wireless capability.  Can you help?

I will need some more information in order to help out. What make and model of router do you have?  Does it ever  fail regular wireless jobs sent from the computer to the printer? Or is it just ePrint jobs that it fails/delays? Also what is the IP address for the printer?

Touch the front panel and use the back arrow if needed to get to the home screen.  Next touch the four ink droplets at the top right of the screen, then touch "Print Report".    Items 12-14 will be the total pages, color pages and borderless pages printed.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One - terrible print & scan options

I just purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One an the print options look like they were written by someone from the 1990s.  There are no options for lower resolution - only draft, normal, best and no option for black and white - other than grayscale.  The print options box is the default box that was originally develped in the 1990s - no kidding.  I also tried scanning some items and the box to see the scan is about 5" x 5" and there is absolutely no way possible to see what was scanned.  I originally loaded the software using the disk provided witih the printer, but then I went on line and downloaded the "Full" version - which loaded exactly what was on the disk.  I can not believe HP is even selling this thing with these types of drivers.  I loaded the drivers onto my HP Desktop, running Windows 7 home, 64 bit and my HP laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.  Both HP computers are Intel I7 Quad core computers w/ 9 & 12 Gb of RAM respectively.
What gives?  Do I need to return this thing because it certainly does not work properly and is not up to the HP standard we expect - especially for the $300 it costs to buy the thing.  I bought this all in one because HP refuses to update the drivers of my older HP scanner to support Windows 7.  That scanner showed the preview with a full screen, allowed me to change resolutions of scans, colors, etc.
Has anyone else experienced this type of garbage?

I agree the HP customer services and product services suck. I have an Officejet Pro 8500 and consistently had problems.
I think I'll change to a Cannon printer or another company. It is apparent that HP does not care.

    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer N911g wont send SD imapges to computer, and I am happy to help!
According to your printer's user guide found at this website, HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g User guides, as well as this guide, Printing From a Memory Card or USB Flash Drive. This printer only supports printing from SD cards.
In order to transfer the files to your computer, you will need an SD Card reader for your computer.
