HR Hierarchy in COPA

Hello,
Just like we have Customer and Product Hierarchies and standard ways of incorporating them in Derivation Rules in COPA, do we have something similar for HR / Org Hierarchy.
Eg: From Sales Order, we do get the Empolyee No of Sales Representative, and can be pulled easily in COPA, can we get the entire hierarchy above him -> His/Her Manger's Emp No & the Org Unit ID to which he/she belongs -> Another level up and so on.
This can then help in viewing COPA report from the entire sales team at all levels from the low level Representative to the Sales VP and the teams to which they belong.
Thanks
Kishore

Hello Rajesh,Ajay
Creating characteristics hierarchy representing HR ORG sounds good, but the client is highly sales driven company, and their HR ORG data in this repsect keeps changing every month end. So it ceases from being one time activity.
As of now, we have planned a Z table which will be refreshed every night by a Z program with Sales Rep and all his upper hierarchy in that record from HR ORG tables. And during sales, COPA pulls all the upper hierarchy from this table using the sales rep characteristic. We were hence looking for something simpler.
Thanks
Kishore

  • Product hierarchy in COPA

    Hi all,
I am new to COPA. What I need to do is creating a report that is using a product hierarchy that we can define.
So I started and created a hierarchy in V/76 like we need it. Those values can now be entered into the "Prod. hierarchy" field for each material in material master - basic data 1.
Then I have created a characteristic for the field MARA-PRDHA (Product Hierarchy) in COPA and assigned it to our operating concern in COPA. Now I created a form (KE34), double clicked on a column to add a characteristic and selected my PROD HIERARCHY characteristic. Now in the window for "selected characteristics" there is a checkbox "Flag for entering hierarchies" so I checked that, but it says "No hierarchies exist for this characteristic".
So is this the right way to do it? How can I add product hierarchies to my COPA report, we would like to be able to "click" through the hierarchy, like starting on the highest level and clicking down.
    Thanks
    Anne

    Anne,
Do not a check on checkbox "Flag for entering hierarchies" . Select value( Hierarchies from Definition drop down window) .
    Thanks,

  • Customer Hierarchy in COPA

I am a newbie and had a question for you gurus. When I am loooking at a profitab document I am noticing the CustHier fields are blank. Where is the customer hierarchy in COPA setup and how does it relate back to the profitab document?

    Hi,
Refer to the table  CE4XXXX, where XXXX = your Operatinc Concern Id.
The characteristics are stored in the data division of the table CE4XXXX for Operating Concern XXXX.
    Other COPA tables are :
CE1XXXX  - Line Items (Actual Postings)
CE2XXXX  - Line Items (Plan Posting)
    CE3XXXX  - Summary Table
    Hope this helps.

  • Product Hierarchy and COPA

Can any one tell me what is a prodcut heirarchy and how it is related to Controlling ( specially with COPA and Product costing). If the product heirarchy is changed, what are the things need to be adjusted in configuration for COPA and Product costing. I would appreciate step by step and trxn codes in your explanation.

  • Product Hierarchy to COPA

    Hi All,
We have defined and maintained product hierarchy as 4 levels with each level as 2 CHAR. This was done by appending the structure. Now in COPA,, how do we get this? Bcoz in COPA the characteristics are different. What changes needs to be done by COPA to pull this?
    rgds..Ameet

    hi
you can define the characterstics which is similar to the appended structure.
in SPRO - while defining the OPERATING CONCERN.
    hope this clears your issue.

  • Customer Hierarchy Characterstics in COPA

How COPA document picks up the customer hierarchy values? I know that there is PAPARTNER structure. But i am not clear how COPA characterstic HIE02(Customer Hierarchy 02) picks up the value.
Can you anyone helps me in understanding how HIE02 is picking up in COPA document?

  • COPA - Product Hierarchy

    Dear all experts,
My client has split the product hierarchy in COPA into 3 levels.
    For example, ProdHier01-1, ProdHier01-2 & ProdHier01-3.
Then they use these values in COPA to further derive the detailed product characteristics.
By looking at the questions posted in SCN, I realized that the naming convention (ProdHier01-1, etc) and setting (create characteristic with reference to MARA-PAPH1/2/3) are the same.
So I assume this is the standard SAP way to create the prod. hierarchy in COPA.
    Now my question is,
    1) Is it necessary (or standard way) to create 3 COPA characteristics to derive each level from PAPH1/2/3?
    2) What is the purpose to create no. of COPA characteristics according to no. of product hierarchy level?
    3) Can I just create 1 COPA characteristic and map it to the full length of product hierarchy value?
I can still derive the detailed product characteristics from this 1 COPA characteristic.
    Thanks.
    Sincerely,
    Sebastian

    Hello Madhu,
    Thanks for your reply.
That is my main question, why do we need to update Prod.Hier1/2/3 in COPA?
Is it the standard SAP way that's why my client just follows?
When I check in the derivation rule, this Prod.Hier1/2/3 is later being used to derive detailed product characteristics where I am able to get it if i map 1 COPA characteristic to full length product hierarchy value.
What is the purpose of splitting them into 3 levels if there is no other functionality of this piece of info in COPA?
    Thank you.

  • Profit centers with COPA

    Hi,
I have a few doubts about the need of EC-PCA in a project where COPA is being implemented.
The client would like to get info about the profitabilyty of organisation units as well as products, groups of products, clients and so on.
However he is unable to assign materials to only one profit center (which would be production departaments in this case). Different Finished goods, semi finished goods, wares and services can be assigned to more than one production departament. (a material index cannot be assigned to only one PC in this case).
What would u advise me? Should I use EC-PCA but change the PC hierarchy or COPA is enough for these purposes?
    Best wishes,
    Karol

    Dear Karol,
Here the some infirmation is about Profit center related and cost center.hope this infirmation will helps you
You would need check the design of PCA and what the business wants to use PCA for. For example do you want to produce P&L Statements and or Balance Sheets by Profit centers etc.
In terms of the cost center assignment to profit centers, the main use of this is to ensure that all costs posted to a cost center will be simultaneously posted to the assigned Profit center. Now in PCA configuration you have to create a "Dummy Profit Center", the consequence of this is that if a profit center cannot be derived (for example if you do not maintain a profit center in the material master) or from the cost center or a profit center is not entered in a posting, the entry will be automatically posted to the "Dummy" profit center.
In terms of design, we are faced, in certain circumstances when we design PCA along the product lines for example, what to do with certain postings such as bank charges or admin costs, which are not directly attributable to the product line.
One way to treat these, is to Create a "Corporate" or "ADMIN" Profit center and assign all the service cost centers to this Profit center and at month end re-allocate to the Product Line Profit center via Distribution or Assessment for example based on sales volume or fixed amounts or percetntages or SKF's to make the reporting more meaningful
create additional profit centers and assign all admn, IT other than production cost centers to either Common, Admin or Corporate profit centers. Suggest you create following non product cost centers
    1) Corporate
    2) Admin
    3) Product Common
Assign profit centers to cost centers logically
In MM master records assign product related profit centers to RM and FG / SFG material types. This takes care from material accounting point of view in PCA
For transfer of costs collected in Non Product related profit centers proceed as follows
    1) Create PCA assessment Cycles
    2) At month end allocate these expenses and check cost in non product profit centers is zero.
    3) Decide on the allocation basis
    4) This ensures that you have PCA wise all P&L items accounted.
    5) You can then design PCA wise report painter reports for PCA wise P&L
Hope the above will help you
    Prem.

  • Default Account Assignment- product hierarchy

We have a requirement when any transaction posting to a write off G/L account to automatically include Product Hierarchy.  I have used OKB9 before for C/C and P/C but not Product Hierarchy.  Is this possible, if so, how?
    Thank you!

    AMS,
First make sure that the account is set to post to COPA.  Make an entry in OKB9 for this account and click the Profitability segment indicator.  Also, assign the account to a PA transfer structure (KEI2) to map the account to a COPA value field.
As far as assigning the product hierarchy to COPA characteristics, you have several options depending on whether you want the whole hierarchy assigned to one characteristic or if you want to split each level into seperate characteristics.  Also, the hierarchy can be maintained in the material master in the general view (MARA) or the sales org view (MVKE),  Let's assume you want to assign the whole hierarchy into a single field using the general data view assignment.  To do this just create a table lookup step in KEDR.  Select table MARA as the source.  Field MATNR will automatically be match to your COPA product field (ARTNR).  In the assignment section select field PRDHA from table MARA and enter the COPA characteristic field you want to store this value in.  If you haven't yet assigned the product hierarchy characteristic to your operating concern you will need to do that first.
    thanks,

  • COPA: Region/site wise profitability

    Dear Guru`s.
My client wan`t Region/site wise profitability. 1 Region consists of n number sites.Below is the Hierarchy:
Now, how can I map these region/site hierarchy in COPA.
    Actual value flows:
Revenue is captured in two ways:
    1. Within SAP
Through sd module ,I will map the condition types against value fields.
    2. Out of SAP
Third party billing tool will give the data and same can be uploaded in SAP through KEFC t-code,but what should be the data I should receive from third party tool I`m a bit confused.
    Cost:
Cost will be captured through FI  within SAP and I`m clear in this.
Actually number of region are 15 and sites are 5000+.
Kindly guide me how to go ahead.
    Regards
    Nitisha

    Hi Ajay ,
For revenue currently what my client  follow 2 ways to capture it:
    a. within SAP
    b. out of sap
The revenue which is coming from Third party system to one common profit center through interface. They do this execution every week.
The revenue is updated to one common profit center with single journal.and from that common profit center it is divided to 1000+ sites(each site is created as profit center.)
Now, they want to directly upload this revenue data from third party tool to copa through KEFC.
My concern is this if we upload revenue data directly to COPA and do not do any FI postings then will my client will able to generate balance sheet? because if I create sites in copa and directly upload revenue to copa from third party tool then no fi entry is posted...
If I`m not able to explain my query then let me know , I`l try to explain it with more detail....

  • Use of customer hierarchy in CO-PA

I'm new in FI CO-PA modules, but I have to configure CO (cost analysis). We actually used customer hierarchy in SD fully with success but we encoutered a problem with our Customer hierarchy in KE30.
When we try to analyse the sales by the customer hierarchy we have a message saying that the hierarchy is not unique.
Actually we have defined the hierarchy as follow:
    first node
    customer        480000
    sales org        1040
    distr chanel    F1
    division           F1
    customer        480000
    sales org        1040
    distr chanel    F1
    division           F2
    customer        480000
    sales org        1040
    distr chanel    F1
    division           F3
We have used this structure because we have different conditions depending of the division
My first question is: Is it this structure that provoque the message in KE30?
The second one is: How I must have structured the hirarchy in order to be able to have different condition on each division for the node 480000?
Thanks for your help on that topic.

    Hi,
The data structures of the hierarchy in SD and CO-PA are not quite the same. In SD, there is a dependency between the customer number and the sales organisation. So you can have the same customer number several times in the hierarchy. However, in CO-PA the dependency with the sales organisation does not exist.  A check is performed only on the customer
    number.
We recommend that you create a new hierarchy in CO-PA (transaction KES3). If you use SD customer hierarchy in COPA then there will also be problems in reporting (KE30).
Check the SAP referenced characteristics CustomerHierarchy01,CustomerHierarchy02 and CustomerHierarchy03 ? (tcode KES1).

  • Streams with DataGuard design advice

I have two 10gR2 RAC installs with DataGuard physical copy mode. We will call the main system A and the standby system B. I have a third 10gR2 RAC install with two-way Streams Replication to system A. We will call this RAC system C.
When I have a failure scenario with system A, planned or unplanned, I need for system C's Streams Replication to start replicating with system B. When the system A is available again I need for system C to start replicating with system A again.
I am sure this is possible, and I am not the only one that wants to do something like this, but how? What are the pitfals?
Any advice on personal experience with this would be greatly appreciated!

Nice concept and I can only applaud to its ambitions.
+"I am sure this is possible, and I am not the only one that wants to do something like this".+
I would like to share your confidence, but i am afraid there are so many pitfalls than success will depends on how much pain you and you hierarchy can cope with.
    Some thoughts:
Unless your dataguard is Synchronous, at the very moment where A fails, there will be missing TXN in C,
which may have been applied in B as Streams is quite fast. This alone tells us that a forced switch cannot
be guarantee consistent : You will have errors and some nasty one such as sequence numbers consumed
on A (or B) just before the crash, already replicated to B (or A)but never shipped to C. Upon awake C will
re-emit values already known on B (dup key on index?)
I hope you don't sell airplane ticket for in such a case you can sell some seats twice.
Does C have to appear as another A or is it allowed to have a different DB_NAME? (How will you set C in B?
is C another A which retakes A name or is C a distinct source).if C must have the same DB_NAME, the global
name must be the same. Your TNS construction will be have to cope with 2 identical TNS entry in your network
referring to 2 different hosts and DB. Possible with cascade lines at (ADDRESSES= ... , but to be tested.
If C is another A then C must have the same DB_name as LCR do have their origin DB name into them.
If C has a distinct name from A it must have its on apply process, not a problem it will be idle while A is alive,
but also a capture that capture nothing while A is alive, for it is Capture site who is supposed to send the ticks
to advance counters on B. Since C will be down in normal time, you will have to emulate this feature periodically
reseting the first_scn manually for this standby capture - you can jump archives providing you jump to another
archive with built in data dictionary - or accept to create a capture on B only when C wakes up. The best would
be to consider C as a copy of B (multi-master DML+DDL?) and re-instantiate tables without transferring any data
the apply and capture on C and B to whatever SCN is found to be max on both sites when C wakes up.
All this is possible, with lot of fun and hard work.
As of the return of the Jedi, I mean A after its recovered from its crash you did not tell us if the re-sync C-->A
is hot or cold. Cold is trivial but If it is hot, it can be done configuring a downstream capture from C to A with
the init SCN set to around the crash and re-load all archives produced on C. But then C and A must have a different
DB_name or maybe setting a different TAG will be enough, to be tested. Also there will be the critical switch
the multi-master replication C<-->B to A<-->B. This alone is a master piece of re-sync tables.
In all cases, I wish you a happy and great project and eager to hear about it.
Last, there was a PDF describing how to deal with dataguard switch with a DB using streams, but it is of little help,
for it assumes that the switch is gentle : no SCN missing. did not found it but maybe somebody can point a link to it.

    example
    Material A - Production Hierarchy is 0001
    Material B - Production Hierarchy is 0002
i managed to create all process in MM. the problem is the production hierarchy not updating in COPA site. when can be wrong ? any config missing ? or COPA just for SD site ?

There is no direct link between MM and COPA , the values to COPA will be coming from SD condition types . The problem may be between MM ans SD

  • Product Hierarchy Derivation in COPA

    Hi Gurus,
We have 6 levels of Product hierarchy defined in the system and I am able to include it in the data structure. The related Characteristics are PAPH1,PAPH2,PAPH3,PAPH4,PAPH5,PAPH6 included in my operating concern. Level 1 has 1 character in number and rest of the levels has 3 characters each in number as follows.
    Level 1--1 Number of Character
    Level 2--3 Number of Characters
    Level 3--3 Number of Characters
    Level 4--3 Number of Characters
    Level 5--3 Number of Characters
    Level 6--3 Number of Characters
Hence all together the total number/length is 16.
Now, when I generated the operating concern, the derivation rules for product hierarchy are created automatically as follows.
Following is the screen shot for source field if I open step number 22
The corresponding screen shot for Target field is as follows
For step 23 , the source field details are same as step 22 but target field details are as follows
We have assigned Product hierarchy in Material master in tab Sales:Sales Org 2 which is 16 digits.
Now when I try to test the derivation rule for step 22, system gives me following error
    =================================================================================
Characteristic value   010 does not exist for characteristic PAPH2 (ProdHier01-2)
    Message no. KE0C133
    Diagnosis
The characteristic "PAPH2" ("ProdHier01-2") should be posted to Profitability Analysis (CO-PA). When the system checked the entries, it was established that the transferred characteristic value ("  010") is not valid in CO-PA.
    System Response
The data is not consistent and therefore cannot be transferred to CO-PA.
    Procedure
With the function Maintain Characteristic Values, you can add characteristic values to those that are valid.
    ==================================================================================
I am getting the same error for all steps in test mode. How to fix this error? Do I need delete the PAPH1--PAPH6 characteristics and use the user defined characteristics and write derivation rule again? Also I want to know the use of steps 28 to 31 (clear) in this regard.
I have not included characteristic PRODH in my data structure. Do I require to include it in my Operating concern?
    Regards,
    makrand

    Dear Ajay,
Hearty Thanks for the solution. As suggested by you, I removed "move" steps and defined the Table Lookup" steps.
There are two target entries i.e MVKE (Origin) table and the field name is PRODH (Product Hierarchy) which is equivalent to second target entry COPA (Origin) field (PAPH1 -----to PAPH6) in the same line.
In field PRODH,I used offset position. I selected "Entire Field Contents" and kept character position as 0 and kept total characters as 16 in each table lookup entry.
Again I have to make offset settings in PAPH1---PAPH6 fields. I selected "Entire Field Contents" tab and system automatically changed the field length for PAPH1 to PAPH6. Now the results are correct.
I arrived at solution after making some combinations in offset. Thought, this may be useful for somebody facing the similar issue.
What's the use of "Clear" steps which are generated by system?
    Thanks and regards,
    makrand
