HT frequency, what is it?

I dont really understand this bios feature and the manuals explanation doesnt help either.  I tried searching the forum but all I found were lots of threads where people having lockups and that they should use the -/+ keys instead. I also found this link: http://www.rojakpot.com/(eb1mg5zatgcf5r55lv5no155)/default.aspx?location=9 .... which has lots of bios features explained, but nothing about HT. I guess it stands for Hyper Transport which is a mobo feature, but I dont understand what upping or lowering the multipliers would achieve, and how safe it is.
PS: please post a link to an evt. explanation which I might have missed if you know one, thanks in a advance.

Hypertransport is a high speed I/O link that orginates from the cpu.
The speed of the hypertransport link is set by bios HT multiplier X HT/FSB .
E.g HT multiplier to 5X and a HTT/FSB at 230 gives 1150 .
On a s939 this is an ocerclock of the HT link by 150mhz and people then drops the multiplier (with increased fsb) to hold it under amd's spec when overclocking to aviod problems.
There is a whitepaper on the hypertransport architecture at amd that might
shed some light on its functions.
http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_docs/26635A_HT_System_Design.pdf
This one is not updated with the 1000mhz clock speed that S939 processors have
but that is the only difference from S754 and S939 regarding HT .
S754 HT clock speed is max. 800mhz and S939 max. 1000mhz.

  • Mechanical vibration frequency

    Hi,
Important Details before I ask my Question:
    1. I need to do an experiment that would generally get the frequency of the mechanical vibration response (frequency of the vibration) of a material when stimulated (possibly by impact, tap, and other methods) so I can do analysis on it (Frequency Analysis, Time Frequency Analysis, Wavelet Analysis, etc)
    2. Available tools are:
              a) 3-axis accelerometer
              b) Labview Full Development System Version 8.6.1
              c) NI PCI-6251 DAQ
              d) NI PCI-5114
    3. This is my first exposure to Labview. I have no experience with this and I'm new to this. So I'm here to ask for support from you guys. I reall need your help.
    4. I would have tried learning as much as I can about Labview first before posting a question here but my time is limited for this specific experiment so I had to "dive in" and ask you guys first hand to get a general idea on how to approach this. I am really very unsure how to do this but I think that it is possible to conduct this experiment with Labview because I've read other posts and papers here that have done something very similar to what I need to do.
When I was trying out Labview, I found that it had an NI Sound an Vibration Assistant. But when I tried to open it, it wouldn't open. What are the possible reasons for this?
Can I do the experiment with the given available tools or is the Sound and Vibration Toolkit necessary for it to work?
With my initial readings, I found that the PCI-6251 is what I should use for getting signal.
What VI available from the Labview 8.6.1 Full Development System can I use to:
-acquire the vibration data and convert it to power spectrum
-acquire the vibration data and do frequency analysis on it.
I could really use any help I could get right now.
    With kind regards,
    Jason Ray Crispo

    Thanks LV_Pro for your resonse.
"The sound and vibration toolkit is an add-on, you may not have a license for it, in which case it would not activate, or at best, activate for a trial period."
-yes, i think that explains it. I could probably look for a way to make it work for a trial period - that is if this is necessary for the experiment. I'm actually trying out the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite for a 30-day trial period. Still not sure of which VI to use though.
"basically look at the documentation for your DAQ device, and try and determine how to connect to the accelerameter. That is the first challenge. What is the output of the accel? Analog levels, digital messages (not as likely, but who knows these days), what. If analog, what are the expected levels, how should it be hooked up (signal lines, power to the unit, etc.) "
-I already connected the accelerometer to the DAQ device. The output is analog..voltage. I'll go look it up right now and give you the details of the set up in a while and also some details about the accelerometer.
"Then, with that sort of done we can look at how the DAQ needs to be configured to get the best resolution measurement, both in signal level and sampling rate. You will want a moderately high sampling rate, if possible, as you are looking for transient signals and under the Nyquist thereom you need to sample at least twice as fast as the highest frequency expected. Remember, that while your stimulus may be fairly low frequency, what you are probably looking for will be much higher frequency components."
-This is where I could really use some help. I'm not so sure how to configure the DAQ for this certain experiment. I do agree that a moderately, or even high if possible, sampling rate would be used since as of now I can't predict range of frequencies of the transient signal. Though the sampling rate could probably be adjusted on the course of the experiment if necessary?
    With kind regards,

  • Data Load Times, etc.

    Hello Forums:
    I saw this website:

And found that a website like this loaded very quickly, and
seemed to fit almost all resolution.
I was wondering how did they make it fit dynamically? And how
did they manage to reduce load times so significantly?
I kinda wondered if it's possible to develop a massive forum
or online community thing using purely Flash. Would that be
possible? What if there were lots of user interaction, can the load
    times be significantly cut down?

Does it load all the data while connected with 5GHz frequency…  What is the IP address that you are getting from the Router? You can check the IP address in the following manner:
If you wish to find out your own IP address, you should run the same ms-dos prompt by clicking Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt. A black pop up box should come up, type: "ipconfig /all" … There check the IP address and Default Gateway under LAN….

  • Same Channel on Different WLANs and RTS/CTS

    Hi
I have 2 questions about physical layer of wireless lan.
1-) Many WLANs(SSID) use same channel for communication, that means they use same frequency, what prevents the collisions between different wlans but same channel?( I am asking about RF signal collision)
2-) Do rts and cts valid for just one wlan that computer which is generated, belongs to or do rts/cts synchronize all different wlans that use same frequency.
    Thanks.

1.) Congestion Avoidance.  Before the client transmits, it listens to for energy on the frequency it is transmitting on.  If it hears energy, it backs off for a time.  Then listens again.

  • OSB Catalogue Tidy Up

    Hi,
My OSB catalogue is growing (currently 14GB), and appears to contain entries from when we first started using the product (16 months ago). We have media family retention periods of around 3 weeks, and I was expecting the older entries to be removed automatically by OSB once the media containing the backups referenced by the old entries had expired.
Firstly, is this the expected behaviour? If not, how can I prune the catalogue down to a more manageable size? I've looked at 'obcleanup' and the index daemon policy. There is an 'Index cleanup frequency' - what does 'cleanup' mean? Should it remove catalogue entries that are no longer on tape?
Alternatively, can I remove old cataloge entries manually and then run the index daemon to re-index the entries that remain?
    Any guidance would be welcome.

An update to my previous post.
I have two file types in the catalogue directories in one of our domains, '*.saved' and 'indices.cur'. In other domains I only have the 'indices.cur' file. I can still browse the catalogue in the domains where I only have the 'indices.cur' file - does this mean that the '*.saved' files can be archived off or removed?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Analog signal staircase help

    Hello all,
I'm still new to LabVIEW, but I've played around enough to create a simple analog waveform generator. The signals produced appear staircased when displayed on an oscilloscope, but are smooth when I reread the signals into an analog input (as shown by the waveform graph). How can I change my program settings so that I can view this staircased signal?
I run LabVIEW 2010, and use a USB X Series Multifunction DAQ.
    Thanks,

    Olivier,
Thank you for posting. I am a little unclear about what some of the front panel controls are in you're images, but I will explain the best that I can about what I believe is going on.
Take a look at the following images.
    Generating a 1kHz sine wave:
    Acquiring at 100kHz:
Acquiring at the Nyquist Frequency (2X the input signal's frequency):
What I am trying to demonstrate here is that you are only going to see a smooth signal if you are sampling fast enough. For instance, if you generate a 1kHz and sample at 2kHz, you will only see two samples per period. This will give you an accurate period and frequency, but nothing else. Because an analog to digital converter is used here, you must sample at a much faster rate to get a "smooth" signal. In my above 100kHz acquisition, you see that we are getting 100 samples per period which produces a much smoother waveform. I would suggest that you acquire a 5kHz signal at something on the order of 500kHz to see a smooth signal.
Let me know if you have further questions!

  • Advice for correcting boomy bass

Any suggestions for correcting boomy bass using AA3? I have tried several approaches with compression and parametric equalization and, I can change the sound, but I don't think that I am fixing the problem. The bass problem, I think, is in the recording.

Hi Eric and SteveG - Thanks for your advice. I am going to respond to both of you and, hopefully, get some more feedback.
Eric - The boomy bass problem, in this case, is a matter of the bass frequency (including an upright bass instrument, but perhaps not limited to just that instrument). The bass instrument, while one can hear it, does not sound clean and articulate in the way that typically does in an acoustic jazz recording. In addition to boom, I feel that there is a characteristic that sounds "cloudy". Any additional thoughts or suggestions?
SteveG - I am going to try your suggestions and will get back with my results. I have read that high Q is typically reserved for working with sound effects and eliminating undesirable sounds. Furthermore, for music, one typically use a low Q setting - probably one less than 10. While I realize that you are suggesting high Q for isolation of the problem, what are your thoughts on what I have mentioned and are there any sources that you recommend for further reading about Q?
After I opened the post, I found the following post:
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/audition/articles/aud15freqedit_02.html
Any thoughts on it, as a way of reducing bass? In a nutshell, it recommends using the spectral frequency editor and the marquee tool and then using the hard limiter on a very small section of the frequency.
I quickly tried the suggestion (in order to get the idea), but it raises a couple of questions. Isn't the use of limiters something that one should try to avoid, if possible. By using a limiter on part of the frequency, what is the potential downside? Is there a possibility of creating some kind of audio-related seam that either revealing playback equipment and/or good ears can identify?
    Thanks again.

  • Overclocking help--A64 3000

I know there are countless threads on this subject, but I'm gonna post this anyway, lol.
I have an Athlon 64 3000+ on MSI K8N Neo Platinum (BIOS 1.1).  I have 2x512 Mushkin Level One pc3500 in DIMMs 1 and 2.  I'd like to achieve an overclock of 2.3-2.4 if possible.  Right now the best I can get is about 2.2 but I haven't tweaked much.
    Several questions:
    should I set 1T or 2T
should I enable or disable Spread Spectrum
    Should I change AGP frequency
what do you recommend for CPU voltage? I have a Thermaltake Venus 12 hsf
does lowering Hyper transport from 4x to 3x negate the effects of overclocking?
Any other advice would be helpful, as well.

1t will yield better performance.  2t might possibly give you a slightly better overclock.  Most people say it isnt worth the performance drop.
    Disable Spread spectrum
    Set AGP to 67
CPU Voltage could be set at 1.65v safely i've heard.  I dont think I would set it higher than 1.6v but i'm on stock cooling right now.
lowering hypertransport from 4x to 3x shouldnt be so bad... usually you wont have to until youre approaching about 240 HTT Frequency
I might suggest updating your bios to one of the later ones and maybe a beta one.  That is if you want to achieve high HTT frequencies.  ie greater than 230ish.

  • Counter channels detection through a labview VI

    Hey
We are having a PCI-6036E card which has 2 counter inputs and this device with counter channels is communicating with the program creadted in Labview.
We want to upgrade that card with add on counter card of PCI-6624. I even modified the program like increasing the counter channels in the program. Now with functional generator i give frequency as input and that i can read in the MAX through counter channels.
So when it comes to the program, it is reading only the 0 channel(i mean the first channel) and for the rest of the channels i see NAN. I am messed up and going through the source code but i see no error in the program.
If i messed up the description i can come back again with better explanation. Can anyone guide me to solve this issue.
    Thank you in advance
    -Kirit

    Hey
    Thank you for the concern.
I will try to answer ur questions...
What type of signal are you sending from the function generator to the counter input channels of your PCI-6624?
Frequency signal with current of 2.5mA. By this i can read the frequency what ever i give in Functional generator through MAX.
Frequency level is from 100 - 1500 HZ
Have you tried just verifying the operation in MAX using a counter input test panel for the channels of your PCI-6624
Above signal i reading it through test panel of PCI-6624 card in MAX
What type of indicator is it in your program where the NANs show up when you run your program?
It is numeric indicator i guess. This you can see in to digitals-rpt.VI
I dont know what else i can do to explain the problem. You can come up with any questions for clarification after going through the llb file.
I guess, the logic i am missing in adding counter channels in the code is in( to digitals-rpt.vi)
Pls go through the *.llb file
    Thanks a lot

  • MSI P35 Neo2-FR

    Hi
    MSI P35 Neo2-FR v1.1 Bios 1.1
    cpu e4300
intial findings on 200 FSB jumper 9x356 takes 1.4v on NB to get into windows
    9x356 on 266 FSB jumper takes stock(1.250)
Some questions, what is a safe voltage to run on the p35 chipset and on this board? Also the board defaults to 2t command rate, and I can see nowhere to select or change, where/can you change to 1t.
In Bios, there is a setting  "Auto disable Dimm/PCI Frequency"   what does this do?
    thanks in advance

Changing the straps causes the chipset to use tighter or looser timings. Why the excessive voltage is required on 200FSB strap.
The auto disable is the PCI frequency lock, it's best enabled whenever overclocking.

  • XMP feature on P67A-GD65 B3

    Hi,
I have recently built a new rig using the P67A-GD65 B3 board and G-Skill Ripjaws memory. I had originally installed 2x2GB DDR3 2133MHz (F3-17000CL7D-4GBXHD), with which I had enabled XMP with success, the memory then running at 2133MHz with 7-10-7-27 as advertised by the vendor without any other tweaking than enabling XMP in the BIOS.
I then decided that it was a shame to only use 2 of these 4 memory slots so I ordered the same memory kit again, and added another 2x2GB of the exact same memory. As for any memory addition event, the BIOS then automatically disabled all memory tweakings, so I re-enabled XMP, rebooted my machine, and then it never came back up, it went into the permanent loop thing, had to clear the CMOS to recover.
Is this something anyone has ever come across, did I get lucky to get XMP to work with two sticks without additionnal tweaking and does it make sense that with 4 sticks it wouldn't work the same way? Furthermore, assuming I need to do some more tweaking than just enabling XMP to get all 4 sticks to run at the expected timings and frequency, what would you recommend I do? change the voltage?
Edit: tried OC Genie and manually putting the RAM settings in the BIOS with the same outcome in both cases, the "permaloop".
    Thanks!

Quote from: Mike on 14-March-11, 07:59:23
Also, the memory controller is in the CPU...it is not in the board.
Does anyone know how to configure XMP using Intel i7 2600k then? It's listed in the MOBO user manual but not in the BIOS or settings.  Could it be possible that I need to update my bios?

  • What am I doing wrong with this filter (counter/frequency issue), probably another newb question.

I extracted the part of my VI that applies here.  I have a 6602 DAQ board reading a counter for frequency, using a Cherry Corp proximity sensor.  Getting a lot of noise and errant ridiculously high readings.  Speed of shaft which it's measuring is currently 2400rpm with one pulse per revolution so 40hz.
Trying to use the express filter VI to clean up the signal and ignore anything over, say, 45hz and under 35hz.  No matter what setting I choose I continually get the  20020 error, Analysis:  The cut-off frequency, fc, must meet:  0 <= fc <= fs/2.  I know this relates to sample period somehow, but for the life of me I can't understand what I'm doing wrong.
I used this VI without filtering on bench tests with a hand-drill and got perfect output every time.  Now it's on the machine and being erratic.  Any help here will ease my stress level significantly, thanks.
    VI attached
    Still confused after 8 years.

    Hello Ralph,
I'm not sure about mounting your sensor to your rig, but I can provide a couple ideas about the filtering. Depending on the type of noise, the digital filters on the PCI-6602 could help eliminate the behavior you are seeing. If the noise manifests as a "glitches" or a bouncing signal, you could use another counter with a minimum period to help eliminate the noise. This concept is discussed in greater detail in this KnowledgeBase. I noticed that you are using NI-DAQmx; the practical application of the digital filters on the PCI-6602 in NI-DAQmx is discussed in this KnowledgeBase. A more detailed description of the behavior of these filters is provided in the NI-DAQmx Help (Start>>All Programs>>National Instruments>>NI-DAQ) in the book entitled "Digital Filtering Considerations for TIO-Based Devices".
I also wanted to comment on your original post and explain why you were receiving error -20020. For convenience, I have copied the text of the error code below.
Error -20020 occurred at an unidentified location
    Possible reason(s):
    Analysis:  The cut-off frequency, fc, must meet:  0 <= fc <= fs/2.
I think you may have misunderstood exactly what the Filter express VI does. The Filter express VI takes a series of values in a waveform and performs filtering on those signals. So, it will look at a waveform made up of X and Y values and apply the defined filter to this waveform. Specifically in your application, the cut-off frequency (fc) is the Upper Cut-Off level that you specified in the Filter express VI; any frequency components of the waveform outside of the range you have defined will be filtered. The fs is the sample rate based on the data that you wire to the Signal input of the Filter express VI. In your VI, this data is coming from the DAQ Assistant. So, fs will be the sample rate of the DAQ Assistant and is associated with the rate at which points are acquired. The sample rate does NOT relate to the bandwidth of the signal, except that the Nyquist theorem tells us that the sample rate must be at least twice the signal bandwidth in order to determine periodicity of the signal. So, in this case, the sample rate of the DAQ Assistant would need to be at least double the high cut-off frequency.
However, you are performing a frequency measurement using a counter. I think this is where the confusion comes in. For the frequency measurement using a counter, the DAQ Assistant returns a decimal value which represents the rate of the pulse train being measured by the counter. It does not return the actual waveform that is being read by the counter. It is this waveform that would be band-pass filtered to eliminate frequency content outside of the filter's bandwidth. Instead of the Filter express VI, I would recommend that you simply discard values that are outside the range you specify. I have modified the code you posted earlier to perform this operation. The image below shows the changes that I made; rather than using the Filter express VI, I simply compare the frequency to the "Low Threshold" and "High Threshold". I use a Case structure to display the value on if it is within the limits. Otherwise, I display a "NaN" value. I have also attached the modified VI to this post.

  • OK, what is the best way to lower specific frequencies in edit view

Listen guys, yes I do happen to know about "frequencies" and that you can't fully remove an instrument without effecting another in that same file that plays at the same time, this is pretty basic stuff.
However, partially removing frequencies is one of the main things AA3 is intended for: "editing" the sound is it's main function.
There must be some better answers out there about the best way of going about this in AA3.
Do people use the spectral analysis with the different colors representing different frequencies? I have no idea how to use this.
Do most people not get into this type of stuff?  I don't get it, seems like this is what the program was designed for (partially) so there must be more techniques out there.

As mentioned, using the Graphic EQ or Parametric EQs, are the most common tools to adjust the energy around specific frequencies.
The Graphic EQ provides between 10-30 bands and uses fixed values and widths.  (A slider for 1000 Hz will adjust the sound around 1000 Hz +/- a few hundred Hz in both directions.)
The Parametric EQ offers fewer bands, but allows for greater control over the frequencies being adjusted and the affect on surrounding frequencies.
The Notch Filter allows very tight, specific adjustments and is best used for removing artifacts like a 50/60Hz hum or high-pitched buzz.
Spectral Frequency View makes it easy to see the frequency patterns and find precise frequencies of problem audio.  The editing tools allow you to perform many of the same functions mentioned, but visually in a paint-style application.  The frequency range of the file is displayed vertically, with 1Hz at the bottom and 22KHz (for a 44.1K file) at the top.  Each column represents a particular slice of time and displays the energy level of each frequency band via brightness and color.  The brighter a particular blob is, the louder that frequency range is at that particular point in time.
There are other spectral views that give different viewpoints of your audio.  For example, the Spectral Pan Display shows a sort of birds-eye view of the audio's stereo-field.  Instruments that are panned further to the left, for example, will display brighter blobs on the left.  Using the selection tools, you can isolate these sounds from the rest of the stereo field and remove, copy, or add effects to the selection without affecting the rest of the audio.
