HT1386 My computer is authorized but some tunes won't synch

I've had a few ipods and a few computers that have crashed and been replaced, so it's not surprising things get a little messed up with Itunes and my current ipod nano. Right now, I have 11 out of about 1000 songs that won't synch to my nano. These 11 songs are among the many I have purchased from the Itunes store, so I do own them. I get a message saying they are not authorized, that I need to authorize this pc to have that happen. The pc is already authorized. I "reauthorize" it but it still won't work. I suspect this goes back to having an Itunes account that we no longer use. If that's true, how do I get Apple to move my songs to my authorized account, or what else would you suggest? Maybe:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Are you sure the songs were purchased with an account that you authorized the the computer to?
Try deleting the songs and redownload ing by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

My 17" MacBook Pro has long been authorized to play music I purchased on iTunes. I have never had a single problem playing any music I purchased either on the MacBook or my Windows PC (before I had the MacBook).
Yesterday, I upgraded my OS from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. I had some strange problems with iTunes involving podcasts, but I got those straightened out. And again, no problems AT ALL playing music I purchased before the upgrade.
I just purchased a song from the iTunes Store using the MacBook. It downloaded and I attempted to play it. It pops up a window saying my computer is not authorized to play the song. I typed in my Apple ID and my password, and it said, "This computer is already authorized" and told me it was one of two computers of a possible five.
I again tried to play my song. Got the same pop-up.
In short: I just purchased the song on this computer and it WILL NOT ALLOW me to play it.
Help?

Thank you, Niel. That worked, although it was touch and go there for a while as to whether it would let me download the song again. But when I tried to repurchase it, it let me.

I have i-Tunes open on my computer and have entered i-Tunes store, ATV says it can't access the store. Both on the same network!
I am so frustrated with this system! All these problems with Apple TV are not the end but the beginning.
In i-Tunes, songs are lost when they have not been moved. I lose whole albums I have ripped from CDs to iTunes
An audiobook book in two files are in the library but only one file is recognized by iTunes when I try to play it or transfer it to my iPhone

I Am having the same issue. Ie on the password issue.
I Am using a Macpro though.
i Have had no issues with the setup until recently.
However I think the hard drive is starting to fail as it keeps on losing the wireless connection and gas been stuttering a lot on playback.

I bought a new MacPro tower with Snow Leopard and brought over my iTunes library from my old computer G5 on Leopoard.
When I try to play any song I bought from the iTunes store, it tells me to authorize the computer, and when I do, it tells me the computer is already authorized, but it still won't play the song and it's a constant back and forth from "you're already authorized" to "you're not authorized!."
So far, Snow Leopard has proven to be full of these types of Catch 22's. (Don't even get me started on trying to run my high end Epson printer). But that's another post. Any ideas on my iTunes runaround? thanks, Bob K

Hi Roaming... Close, but no cigar. I've tried all the solutions in that post, and so far, none of them work. When I go to update my account from the AOL account the tunes were bought on to my Apple ID, it just tells me the iTunes Store can't be reached and try later....it's been doing that all day. Unless the iTunes store has been stricken by some kind of hack today, I'm back to square one. Glad I don't buy a lot of songs from iTunes!
Any other ideas? I'm fresh out. thanks, Bob

Before the most recent update, I was backing up my movies and music to an external drive to save room on my hard drive. I would then play those movies in QT from the external drive. I didn't import into iTunes bc I wanted to save room. Now, however, it won't let me play those movies unless I import into iTunes. I get a please authorize field. I authorize and it says that this computer is already authorized but it still won't play the movie.

SO FAR I THINK IT IS "GENIUS" (IT'S A DUNCE!!!!)

thats because audible isnt apple provided, its a third party app/website so you'll have to get it from them

I tried to transfer my music from my ipod but it said that I had to authorize it, I did then it sais that the computer is authorized but that it was unable to transfer the music.

I have a pc and am trying to get my music through my iTunes on my computer. I didn't have any trouble syncing my iphone 5S but can't get it to sync with my 6. OS 8.1.3
I open iTunes on my pc, plug in my phone, then I click on the picture of a phone on the upper left hand corner of my music library. Then I get a box of options with sync at the lower right. I have clicked "automatically sync when phone is plugged in" and have also tried to do it manually by checking specific songs and albums. Every time I hit sync the box pops up that says, "The iPhone could not be synced because this computer is no longer authorized for purchased items that are on this iPhone. To authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes store choose Store>Authorize This Computer."
I took those steps and a box pops up that says "this computer is already authorized."
I have my recently purchased music on my phone that came through the cloud when I restored my phone. But I want my old music from CD's that I put on my iTunes library in my computer. I had all of this music on my old phone.

You need to select what you want to import first.

I am having trouble syncing my ipod nano with my desktop. I purchased new songs that show up on my desktop but cannot get them to sync to my nano. The computer keeps giving me the message it is not authorized. Then it asks for my passcode which it says is incorrect. Which how can that happen when I can still go into Itunes and purchases songs with the same passcode? The computer just keeps looping to "not authorized" and "incorrect passcode". But I was able to see my computer is 1 of 2 computers authorized but does not seem to be recognizing this. So, I called apple support and they had me unistall and reinstall itunes but I am still having the same problem. Does anyone have any suggestions how to get pass this? ITunes says new computer is Authorized but not

Everytime I Authorize my New computer to play my protected tracks I've purchased from iTunes, it says its Authorized but STILL doesnt play the Tracks and asks to Authorize AGAIN!!!
Its NEVER going to play all the Music I've bought in the Past.

Copy the media from the old computer or the backup of the old computer to the new computer.

Are we talking about the iPod or iTunes here? Are the songs "greyed out"?
If you want the songs to be bold and selectable/editable/playable, then you need to change to manually managing your songs.

Yes, several ways. Making playlists for each iPod and having the iPods set to "update selected playlists only" is one such way.

Computer is authorized, but iTunes keeps asking to authorize again

Our computer got a virus and we had to run recovery. We backed up our music and then reinstalled iTunes. Now whenever we try to play any of our purchased music iTunes says that the computer isn't authorized, so we authorize it. Then it says that it's been successfully authorized, but when we try to play a song it again says the computer isn't authorized and we try again. What do we do?

The only other 2 things to try are
1. download a free single of the week and try to play it
2. get rid of this SC info folder. The entire folder, not just the file.

If that doesn't do it, contact iTS support using the button at the bottom of this page. Give them a link to this topic. Quite a few folks are having authorizations probloems with v7.7, esp on older tracks.
