You can try this to get it out of Recovery Mode:
Unplug the device from the USB cable if it's plugged in. Then hold down the sleep/wake button until it turns off. Let go of the button and then hold it down again until the Apple logo reappears. Let it go and the device may boot up.
This only works, of course, if your device was working properly previously. Otherwise you'll need to restore it:

Follow Tim's advice. If you have any problems open iTunes on computer, connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, click the Restore button of iTunes on computer.

If you are having the same issue on several computers then it is a hardware issue! Not a software issue! Replacement is the only resolution!

My grandson accidentaly deleted something he had recorded on his phone and he was trying to retrieve it on itunes. It failed and now his phone is locked on the iturnes emblem with a picture of the charger cord pointing toward the itunes emble,. I have turned off and on and it is still locked in place??//
The phone is gone into Recovery mode. You need to connect it to iTunes and restore.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I'm not sure if this will be a fix but it certainly can't hurt a thing. Locate this file:
com.apple.bluetooth.plist It's here: /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file, drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot. Sometimes pref files can become corrupted and cause all kinds of problems. Your Mac will create a new pref file for you when your reboot.
See if that helps... post back.

my phone is locked, I tried to hard boot, nothing is working. I have the i tunes logo on the screen with the plug showing, but I can not get away from the screen, what do I do?
Same thing happened to me last week had to update than said some sort of error so it told me to restore I did that and it said restore couldnt be completed !! So I called my service provider and I had to press the circle button and the power button and hold for 15 seconds while still plugged in to the comp , than to try and restore and than update !! And it worked !! Hope that helps!!

My Ipod mini shows "locked" on the ITunes screen
When connecting my Ipod mini to the computer I see in ITunes a " locked" sign.
I can only add new music (still some disk space on Ipod); it does not delete old songs that I have deleted in ITunes.
My Ipod mini is not set to act as external hard diskDo you have your ipod on automatic update or manual update? If it's on automatic update you can't delete songs and there will be a lock symbol down at the bottom of the screen next to where it tells you how much space you have left.

Sorry, downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple, thus there is no official way to do so. Your phone was re-locked to the carrier it was originally locked to because you hacked it to unlock it. Apple's servers detected such & re-locked your phone. You need to contact the carrier your phone is locked to if you want to get it officially unlocked.

I need to restore my iPhone. Once in iTunes, I get an error message asking me to use my passowrd to unlock phone. The problem is that I can't get to the password lock screen. All I can get is the iTunes screen or the emergency call only screen.
yes did you buy it of somebody or a well known company such as apple or carphone warehouse?
and i mean the phone would have been activated in the first place with the sim card you get given when you first get the phone.
trying to activate the phone with another sim card that you did not get when you brought the phone may result in you not being able to activate it

Can't update. Said's it might have to go back to original settings. Screen is locked with the iTunes icon with the picture of the phone cord .
Put the iPhone into Recovery mode (you will lose all data on the iPhone.
Just restore from the previous backup).
