rent movie from itunes store but Apple TV can not play it. Any one know why ?

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not downloading properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

iTunes Store: What to do if your account has been compromised

Hi recently I received a popup MSG that iOS6 was available to download for my iPad. This also came with about 6 apps to download. However these Apps have now been installing for over two days, I have tried all sorts to try to stop or cancel them?

Thought I had already posted a question re frozen installing apps offered with new iOS6?

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

The iphone is not a backup device.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

ah this is a simple fix. open itunes go to store on the top menu bar and click store. scroll down and click
"Authorize this computer" fill in the info requested and there u have it.

HT1420 'computer not authorised to play this song' however when I put in the new ID & password - it says it is authorised - I can get no further.

CD was raised in 2008 on a different computer, tried to reload it tonight - all I get is 'this computer is not authorised to play this song'. It gives you the option to change the out of date ID name and password to my new one - fine, it comes up 'this computer is already authorised to play this song' - then when I try to play the song again it goes back to the 1st message. A circle with no way out!!!

During pc upgrades Vista to W7 iTunes disappeared. Re-downloaded iTunes I now get mssgs on MANY songs "this comp not authorised to play <song name>......etc." I don't know password & the email address (apple id) I no longer have. So how do I remedy this please?

As I understand it all iTunes purchases are permanently tied to the AppleID that purchased them. The email address & password combination should remain valid even if you no longer have access to the email address used to set up the account. I had hoped that if you provided both your current and former email addresses using that form, the support team would have been able to confirm your right to the older account and guide you on how to reset the password for it.
If I understand you correctly all of the songs you have in the library now were downloaded with your current Apple ID, but that download has included the older purchases. Odd that they would download, but then not play. In some cases downloads can be corrupted and this can show as an authorisation problem, so it might be worth deleting a sample track, not hiding from iTunes in the cloud, closing iTunes, reopening, then redownloading. For the future see Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy and make sure your iTunes library and other important data is backed up routinely. That way a drive failure or Windows upgrade won't wipe out your data.

Apple TV not authorised to play

I have a 1st Generation Apple TV.
In the last two days I have purchased a movie and TV episode on my computer. When I have tried to play them through Apple TV it comes up with 'Not authorised to play this title'. No other titles are affected and play fine through Apple TV.
I have repurchased one title through Apple TV and it has played fine.
As far as I am aware none of my settings have changed so any tips on what to check would be appreciated.
Note - titles I buy from itunes on my computer are listed under 'Shared' on Apple TV whilst titles I buy through my Apple TV device are listed under 'My' on APple TV.

I'm having the same issue. I downloaded a TV show on my computer and synced with the Apple TV. I get the "This TV Show is not authorised to play ....". I have downloaded other episodes of this TV show in the past week and they have worked fine. I have not tried to rebuy the episode to see what happens. I have tried to unsync it and stream from the computer and I get the same results. If I play the episode on my computer it works fine. Same as you, I do not believe any settings have changed. There was recently an update for the Apple TV2 but I don't believe there was one for the 1st generation.

IPad 2 to Apple TV: Cannot Play Movie - The Connected Device is not authorized to play protected movies.

I am getting the 'Connected Device is not authorized to play protected movies' message.
Here is my setup:
From the iPad 2 I used iTunes to Rent a movie - Safe House in SD.
I then used Airplay Mirroring to send the movie to my Apple TV.
The Apple TV is connected to a Vizio V0370M HDTV.
According to Vizio all of the HDMI ports have HDCP.
When the movie starts I get this error message on the iPad.
I have used this approach in the past with success.
I rented a couple of episodes of HBO's True Blood and they played just fine on the Vizio through Apple TV.
I believe some were in HD and some SD.
Using the iPad with Airplay Mirroring is a very nice way to send content to the HDTV.
I was hoping I'd be able to do this for anything that is on the iPad.
Is there something wrong with my configuration? Or what I'm trying to do?

I had exact same problem and I have found a way to get round out!!!! Easy!
So the reason it doesn't allow it to play is for security to stop piracy etc.
Plug in the cable and VGA and aux cable and get everything set up so you are looking at the home screen.
1) select Videos
2) selected the film you want to watch
3) click the little play button
4) it will then come up with the message saying it can't play protected films blah blah blah
5) WITHOUT clicking ok double tap the home button to bring up the multitasking bar and swipe left to reveal the control panel
6) hold fast forward for a second or two and the movie with continue to play!
Stay in the multi tasking bar with the control panel, The message will stay there but don't worry. Kick back and enjoy your iPad movie on the big screen:)

It sounds like you are unable to play a couple of songs from your library becuase you get a message that the computer is unauthorized to play, but other content purchased that same day works without issue. I would verify that the affected songs were purchased with the same Apple ID first:

Open iTunes
Highlight one of the items you have purchased (You can find your purchases in your Purchases playlist).
Choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab.
The Account Name area will list the account used to purchase the item. Unless you have changed accounts, this is your iTunes Store account name.
If so, then delete the songs:

Since my latest itunes update I get an error saying that I'm not authorised to play 160 tracks from my 2000+ library ( with a list of the tracks), any advice would be welcomed, thanks in advance.

I have exactly the same problem. I updated my ipod nano with new tunes this evening and got a message stating that I was not authorised to play them on this computer! They have all been purchased from Itunes and have now been removed from my nano but are still in my library. It removed 99 of my tunes from my nano!!
Any ideas? Clearly a bug in the new update
