Sales tax is charged on iTunes Store purchases where required by local law. The tax noted on your iTunes Store invoice is an estimate and may not reflect the final charges. The following lists show the states that charge taxes for the respective item types as of October 2011.

AL, AZ, CO, CT, DC, DE, HI, ID, IN, KY, LA, ME, MS, NC, NE, NJ, NM, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, WA, WI, WV, and WY
Videos
AL, AZ, CO, DC, DE, HI, ID, IN, KY, LA, ME, MS, NC, NE, NJ, NM, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, WA, WI, WV
Applications, Software, and iPod Games

There is no sales tax on the purchase of an iTunes Gift Certificate, Gift Card, or Allowance.
