Configure your security software
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
Common errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.
Best of luck,

  • I was installing an itunes update and half way through an Error7 was showm followed by windows error 1114

I was installing                                    an itunes update and half way through an error 7 was shown followed by windows error 1114 and I continue to get the same message even though i have shut down the computer

Hello, I couldn't wait for Apple so I have just followed konami84's solution, basically dump everything Apple and start again.  I did leave icloud alone though.
I re-installed v11.1.4.62 and it appears to be working so far.  I was bemused to see that many of my discs only contained the first track but they slowly reappeared, there are 600 to check so I shall leave it for now.
I also noted that the 'radio' button is not present, my theory is that this has been rapidly removed because it doesn't work, not on Windows 7 anyway.  radio was there yesterday when I had all the heartache and trouble.
Just need to fix the airport express not being recognised, although it was for a short while then the icon turned orange.

  • HELP - iPhone starts back up but crashes half way through

I cant back up my iphone. After changing to a windows 7 PC, my iphone will not back up. It attempts it but seems to crash half way through, I have tried doing it without pics, still no joy. I cant update to the latest iphone software as it always backs up first, which it wont do. Have reinstalled itunes, tried a different USB port, left it over nigh, no joy. Seems to be a common problem, but hard to find a solution. Any solutions out there?

Try create a fresh user account on your computer and do the back-up by following this link (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137) that will help isolate the problem if it's actually corrupted files in your computer causing this crash!!

  • I was updating my iphone, but my computer shut down half way through restoring my old settings. When I turned my computer back on, i tried to continue with the restore but the original backup i was trying to use wasn't there anymore, it had been replaced.

    Try resetting the SMC.
MacBook and MacBook Pro with a battery you can remove
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer
To reset the SMC on newer Mac portables with a battery you cannot remove
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • I hired a movie and half way through it stopped loading so i exited the movie and it vanished, when i clicked on the movie again it asked if i wanted to rent it???

i rented a movie from the apple store off my apple TV half way through the movie it stopped like it was waiting for it start loading. i then exited the movie and went to click on it again but found that the movie was no longer there and when i clicked on the same movie it asked it i wanted to rent it, which i had just done. i would just like to know what happened here and how to fix this?

This has happened to me 3 consecutive times!!
3 movies. 3 mysterious stopages in mid movie with no fix.
If only they solved their own problems as quickly as the scoffed your money!
I have no idea how to report it.
Apple only wants to communicate with you when you want to purchase products but makes it brutaly painfull to solve problems.
They have become a pathetic, gready symbol of sloppy excess.
They WIIL fail because they forgot how deliver their products.
I was a lifelong apple user and that is over for good!
I've been ripped off by them for the last time!

  • Thought i downloaded a movie on new ipad, but when i started to play it, about half way through it stopped .  my time is up in a few hours.  what can i do?

I downloaded a movie several days ago to my new ipad.   I thought it had completed the download.  I started to watch today and it keeps stopping.  I accidently started it yesterday so the 24 hour time limitation started.  What can I do??  Would Itunes be willing to give me another few hours?

It's my business phone, I've lost everything but most importantly my diary!!! It's been plugged into the computer relatively recently but doesnt seem to have backed anything up since I got this phone in October 2011...
I was going to try putting the sim into my old iphone 3gs but they are different sizes..

  • I powered off my iphone during the software update, and now it keeps turning on and off, what to do?

I was in the middle of updating my Iphone 4 to the new IOS 6 software. It was about 3/4 done but I needed to use my phone to make a phonecall. To stop it from loading the software, I powered it off. Now it won't turn all the way on. It will show the apple loading then it will blank off, and keep repeating.
I dont know what to do, help!

Same thing happened here ~ tech guy at a local authorized Apple repair store said it had something to do with improper backup from which the restore would be made. Still have a phone that asks to be connected to Itunes but won't do anything else . . . frustrated.

  • My laptop won't restart? The bar at the bottom of the gray screen starts to fill up but half way through, my computer shuts down?

My macbook pro 2009 started freezing, so I tried to turn it off and back on, but it wouldn't get off of the gray screen. I went to utilities and tried to repair my disc but it said it couldn't be repaired and that leaves me here with a gray screen, a new bar at the bottom, and random shut downs.

If you reformat the drive, then everything on the computer will be deleted. If you cannot access the hard drive at all in order to backup your work, it will all be lost.
That statement means that if you are trying to reinstall Lion or later, then the installer is going to verify that you own the software by requesting your Apple ID and passwword.
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
