ICloud on Mail not connecting to IMAP server since Lion update
Since the latest lion update, my Mail has been unable to recieve or send any mail.
Mail connection Dr is showing the following error; "Could not connect to this iCloud IMAP server."
Here's a few screenies showing the problems; http://imgur.com/a/VA7x1
Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks. Thanks for the responces, both!
I've tried re-signing in, in both mail and through system pref. I just get the following error at the starting "Welcome to mail" splash screen
The iCloud IMAP server “p04-imap.mail.me.com” is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue, you might not be able to receive messages.
As to the mail server, I can only assume no! As far as I can remember it was just a case of username+password and I was good to go. Really stumpped as to why this has happened. -
OSX Mail will not connect to iCloud server?
Hi all,
I realise that this has been asked before but nothing suggested seems to work for me? Basically the Mail app will not connect to the icloud server? I use a @me.com email address. The error I get is:
The server returned the error: The connection to the server “p01-imap.mail.me.com” on port 993 timed out.
I cannot for the life of me change this server address. I think I need to lose the p01 part? I have tried deleting account and adding it back but still the same. The strange thing is that the settings on my home iMac seem to be the same but it is my Macbook pro with retina that will not connect. I am completely up to date with latest software on Mavericks. Mail is working for my work email on an exchange server so I know that app iteslef is working. Its been like this for a few weeks now but I thought it was just my work network blocking it but only just realised it is happening at home as well where it used to work.
Any advice gratfully received.
Thanks
Christhe 'p01......' is correct, so is the port 993. I would recomend opening mail and selecting Mail>Preferences>Accounts and then highlighting your icloud account and delete it by clicking the "minus" button, then add it back again.

Mac mail periodically stops connecting to imap server
I have mail set up on both my iPhone and MacBook Air. Everything works great with mail on the iPhone. However, periodically throughout the day, Mac Mail decides to stop connecting to the imap server. Quitting Mac Mail and restarting it corrects the problem. It continues working for awhile but then stops at what seems to be random times. It's quite frustrating.
Any ideas how to correct the problem on the MacBook Air.Mail troubleshooting - Yosemite

Mail does not connect to IMAP or SMTP servers
For a month or more Mail has been unable to connect to my Yahoo mail account and is now unable to connect to Google's email servers. I can connect to both these accounts on my iPhone and with other email clients like Outlook or Mailbox so I'm reasonably certain the problem is with the Mail app itself. Checking the connection doctor gives this error message for the both the Yahoo and Google IMAP servers: "Trying to log in to this Yahoo/Google IMAP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct." I copy and paste passwords from my password manager so I know they are correct. I'm running OS X 10.10.2 and Mail v. 8.2. Any suggestions?
This is what shows up in console: (maybe someone who can understand this can help us!)

Windows Mail will not connect with Comcast server
I've been getting the following error message all day today when trying to send/receive email via Windows Mail: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F I've verified that all email account settings are correct using Comcast George's post, and with two Comcast phone reps. I've disabled email scanning on my Norton 360. Nothing about my setup was changed recently. I have successfully received emails on this computer/Windows Vista/Windows Mail for years with no problem. First Comcast rep basically said "Tough, b***h" since I am able to access my email via Comcast's web site. She viewed the issue as strictly a Windows Mail problem. Second Comcast rep had me change all settings on my account, with no solution. Then said she would escalate the problem on up the line. Does anybody have any ideas on how to make this work once again?

I've disabled email scanning on my Norton 360. Are you sure it "took"? AV programs don't like being told what to do. ;-) AV programs are pegged as the most likely culprit when Googling on 0x800CCC0F. Upgrading to Windows Live Mail is often recommended, and I recommend trying a different email client as well, but my recommendation would be Thunderbird. MS email clients are famous for quirky problems. On the other hand, someone with a similar problem (on a Mac, so different error message) changed his password and things started working again. I'm a little skeptical about that, thinking that it might have just been coincidence, but it could be worth a try. To see if you're having the same problem, you could turn on logging in Windows Mail and post the log here. Tools|Options|Advanced|Maintenance|Troubleshooting. Click on the Store Folder button above the Troubleshooting section to see where the log file will get saved. Remember to turn off logging when you're done troubleshooting. -
My ipad will not connect tot he server when trying to access my mail. This has been happening since last Sunday. Some have said it is due to the latest software update. I am able to connect to the internet.
I am not having this issue on iPhone.
I checked all the settings, the wireless router in my house and at work.
I have completed a hard reset of the device.
I had our IT guy at work look at it.
He said to contact Apple....
Any thoughts?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Has any one experienced not being able to send mail and only receiving some? I get the message " can not get mail. No connection to the server! " Yet I get some mail but can not send out any. My iPad is only 1 month old! It worked perfectly for about 10 days.
Thx
AgnesHey agnesfromcopenhagen k,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with Mail on your iPad. The following resource provides some troubleshooting steps. What kind of account are you using? Some internet providers require that you be connected to your home Wi-Fi (or for work accounts, inside your corporate Wi-Fi/firewall). Also, some email accounts require two-step authentication. For more information, see this resource:

I have an iphone 5. Everytime i click on my hotmail icon is says...cannot get mail. The connection to the server failed. I have to hit ok a couple of times and then it downloads my messages. Also at the bottom the updated date is saying that it is june 4 not june 9th
i would suggest deleting and readding the mail account in settings > mail contacts calendars

Mail.app doesn't hava connection with imap server when changing network.
Ive got a strange problem after upgrading OSX from 10.6.8 to 10.8.4.
I have got a xserve, with osx 10.6.8. (mail) server installed on it.
When i am in the office (LAN) mail works just fine. if iam home and wake my macbook from sleeping i see in the mail app the attention mark telling my something is wrong with the mail account.
If i open the connection doctor it say's can't connect to IMAP server. if i check my iOS devices there is nothing wrong, everything is working and i can send/recieve mail. on iOS and OSX the settings are the same with SSL enabled and password type.
When i tried to telnet the mailserver address with the IMAP or SMTP port i get a connection. so, there is no firewall blokking my connection.
But now the strange thing when i quit my mail.app and start it again the mail gets connection again. So is there a problem when changing networks when the Mail.App is stil active? That's just to bad, will it be solved in a future release of OSX?
I don't know... maybe Apple will force me migrating to Mavaricks.
it seems that although w'r using DNS, the outside ip gets remebered or the connection isn't closed down properly when putting the macbook to sleep.
I can try offcource to configure the outside LANip (Non dns) in my mail client.
I will post with results.. -
I was using my ipad and then it would not connect to a server. Then I closed it down and it welcomed me and the internet was working. The only thing I cannot do is get into my email. Any ideas?
Have you already set up your email account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars?

Mail no longer connects to Exchange Server
Hi,
I recently upgraded from 10.4 to 10.5.
After the update everything was working fine, including Mail. It was talking to my Exchange server as it should.
But I had to dabble. While I was previously connecting using IMAP I noticed the Exchange server option in Mail so I decided to give it a go thinking it might enable some more of Exchange's features.
However, Mail will not connect to the Exchange server. Even trying to switch back to IMAP doesn't work. It just won't connect.
I KNOW the settings are correct and I have other machines here that are working fine (using the Exchange account option in Mail - I set them up last week, no problem).
I have enabled logging in Mail and it appears that the Exchange server is refusing my username or password - both of which are certainly correct.
Using identical settings (albeit with IMAP) in Thunderbird is no problem.
Any ideas on this? It's driving me nuts and I really want to go back to using Mail rather than Thunderbird.
Many thanks in advance.I have just replaced an ailing emac running 10.3.9 so to get all my emails transfered, i imported them . I had by this time set up my old accounts affresh .now the old ones fight with the new and try to change the out going smtp server settings I can recieve on all accounts but only send out on one and that is after one and a half days plus a trip back to the dealership-still not right .And somehow it insists on sending my other email accounts through only the one main server which sort of works but changes each time you log in. The computer no longer recognises email addresses sent from my old folders - a serious pain when you have to look up each and every address in old folders.
When you go into the advanced settings the option none is not there but on one occassion all the options changed. Looking at this forum I think giving my emac the kiss of life might have been a better business proposition. As to your problem some info the guy at the store deleted in the key chain info. helped but not sure how he got there -
Mail can't connect to isp server. provider says it's an internal issue
mail can't connect to isp server. provider says it's an internal issue, mail is set up corectly.
Are connecting exclusively through IMAP or through POP? IMAP automatically stores all the e-mails on the server.
POP gets them onto your Mac. The advantage of IMAP, unless you desire, you are not downloading all the attachments to your hard drive, and bandwidth issues of downloading slowing you down with lots of large attachments are avoided. The other advantage with IMAP, you can try a web based e-mail to see if your e-mail program missed downloading everything. http://www.mail2web.com/ is my favorite web based e-mail. I recommend at least trying it to see if it will let you see your e-mail. Any custom folders will be invisible, but at least anything in your inbox should be visible and usable.
Are you using any other e-mail software for forwarding, such as gmail?
