HT4744 LG ultra wide monitor at end of TB chain flickers

I have problems getting my LG ultra wide monitor to work at the end of my Thunderbolt chain.
There is a Datatale thunderbolt raid enclosure with 4 drives and a Universal Audio Apollo audio interface with thunderbolt option card installed. From there I have a mini-displayport to displayport cable to my LG ultrawide screen.
The screen flickers from time to time, or turns off completely, accompanied by big spikes in the audio sometimes.
It's very frustrating and an unworkable situation for me at the moment.
Is anyone else experiencing these problems and/or has anyone found a solution?

Yes I have the same issue. I'm daisychaining an Apollo Quad to my display using the Thunderbolt expansion and my Macbook Pro. LG UltraWide doesn't work in any configuration and I've tried another monitor which works fine.
Did you find a solution?
Maybe the LG needs more bandwidth than the Apollo can give when daisychained? I dunno I'm just guessing.
I'm talking with UAD Support but I bet I have to get another monitor to use TB

It looks like you may need a mini-displayport to Displayport cable. You can also try holding the option key while clicking on "scaled" to see if the option you need comes up.

  • Ultra Wide Monitor Support

I was one of the four people who bought a Dell Ultra-Wide monitor and wanted to know if that resolution is supported on a Mac Mini.  Any thoughts?

    The current Mini supports:
*This model simultaneously supports 1920x1200 on an HDMI or a DVI display (using the included HDMI-to-DVI adapter) and2560x1600 on a Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort display or even a VGA display (with an optional Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter, which is compatible with the Thunderbolt port).

  • Split screen software of LG ultra wide monitor won't start with windows 7 installed with VMWare Fusion

I am using split screen sofware of LG but it is not working for me with vmware fusion 7. Is this a known problem? I am using an ultra wide monitor of LG (29um65), and installed windows 7 on my mac, by using VMware Fusion. But the software won't work of LG. It won't start. LG can't help me, because normally the software is working by using windows 7 on a windows pc. I got it also working on a  mac , when I used other virtual software as Virtualbox VM, but it seems not to work with vmware fusion 7. Can somebody help me with this problem?

yes, I think you are right, but I used virtual box in the past, and had no problem with the LG software, so it has also to do wit VMWare Fusion I think.
Never the less we still don't have a solution :-)

  • Using Apple TV with an Ultra Wide Screen

Hello everyone, I have an LG EA 93, which is an Ultra Wide monitor. The resolution is 2560 x 1080. I am considering the purchse of an Apple TV, however, I am worried that it won't function as expected with my monitor. When watching movies, which are in the cinemascope aspect, they display full screen on my monitor. When connecting an Apple TV, I understand that the menu system is in 16:9, however, when I open a 21:9 movie, will it display full screen on my monitor, or will it be letter and pillar boxed? For example: when watching a 21:9 movie on Netflix, I get letter and pillarboxing, ie the movie is surrounded by 4 black bars, essentially creting a frame.
Also, the monitor has dual inputs, which can be used simultaneously. If I conect my Mac and the Apple TV at the same time, will the Apple TV be able to cope witht he reduced resolution of 1280 x 1080?
Thank you very much for your help in advance

    hello,
I have the above combo as well.
I configured the appleTV to always send 1920x1080 over the HDMI port to the LG ultrawide display then I switch the ratio using the ratio buton the remote between 1:1 for normal 16:9 content and select "Cinema1" if the content is ultrawide and then it fills the screen completely and looks great (you get black bars on all four sides as you described if you leave it on 1:1).
The scaling is very good and I hardly notice a drop in quality doing this. I don't think you can do 2560x1080 over HDMI versions before 2.0 or DVI, people have found ways to force it but you don't get the full 50/60Hz by doing this. If you don't trust the monitors scaling you can play the movie from a laptop with DisplayPort at 2560x1080 and use the scaling on the video application you're using - iTunes/VLC etc...
As far as I know neither the AppleTV or the UltraWide Monitor has a HDMI 2.0 port so you can't get that resolution anyway - but it really does not matter because the content is only 1920x800 so HDMI1.4 is perfectly capable of getting this content to the monitor and it's just a choice of whether you prefer the computers scaling or the monitors scaling.
    Hope this helps!

  • Setting to use only middle portion of ultra wide display in order to get traditional width-to-height ratio

For the software I use most, like word processor and terminal emulator, a more
squarish display is much easier to view than the ultra-wide display I recently
purchased (somewhat by mistake). Everything has become very stretched out
lengthwise and is very difficult to read. Is there some setting in Windows8
to use only the central portion of the display in order to get the same
height-to-width ratio of older monitors?  Thanks.

    Hi,
Meanwhile, I suggest you view the manufactre website or contact their supprt to check if there's a Display Manager to optimize your media presentation and maximize your monitor’s state such as Easy Arrange and Auto mode, usually there should be such kind
of manager for an ultra wide monitor.

  • Canon EOS 70D Ultra Wide Lens

Headed to Banff National Park in 2014.  It has been suggested I purchase an ultra wide lens - a 16 or 17mm on full frame cameras, but a minimum focal length of 24mm.  Any suggestions for the best lens that meets this criteria?

I'd also recommend the Canon EF-S 10-22mm. It would be one of my top choices for great image quality, unusually good flare resistance for an ultrawide lens, plus excellent autofocus performance.
Personally my close second choice would be the Tokina 12-24mm f4. It's an excellent lens, too. Very close to the Canon in most respects and possibly even better built (it's "L-like").
I've been using the Toki 12-24 for a number of years and have just recently bought a copy of the Canon 10-22 and am starting to use it too.
    There are also:
Tokina 11-16mm f2.8. This is another very nice lens, might even be sharper than the 12-24, but also a bit more expensive and more prone to flare.  more expensive than the 12-24 and more prone to flare. Also, to get f2.8 - which most people really don't need on an ultrawide - the trade off is a very narrow range of focal lengths.
Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 is one of the lower cost options. Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 is a more expensive and larger lens. It also uses larger than usual filters, more expensive 82mm. Most of the other lenses listed here use 77mm filters.
Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6 is the widest lens available for APS-C crop sensor cameras (short of going to a fisheye). It cannot be uses with standard filters, due to a strongly convex front element.
Tamron 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 has the widest range of focal lengths in a single lens and is one of the more affordable choices. A lot of users report it's a bit soft at the 24mm end of the zoom.
If you prefer a prime instead of a zoom, a Rokinon 14mm f2.8 is an affodable option. Note that this is a manual focus and manual aperture only lens, so rather slow to work with. But it's got decent image quality. It also sells branded as a Samyang, ProOptic, Bower, Vivitar (13mm) and some others. All are the same lens, so shop around if you're interested in this lens. Note that it's another lens that cannot be used with standard filters, because it has a strongly protruding front element. All other 14mm and 15mm prime lenses are extremely expensive.
Yes, the Sigma 12-24mm f4.5-5.6 would work, too.... However I wouldn't recommend it because it's actually a full frame capable lens and quite a bit more expensive than most of the above. Sort of a waste, you would be paying extra for full frame coverage and not using it at all on a crop camera such as your 70D.

  • Create lens profile for ultra wide angle lens

    Hello,
I am trying to create a lens profile for the ultra wide angle lens Olympus 9-18 mm (Crop factor 2). As i use the lens for timelapse, i only need the profiles for 9 mm and open aperture f4, but combined with several different ND-filters which show different vignetting depending on their filter strength. Filters are oversized, so no influence by fringe. What i need is to get rid of vignetting.
So far everything works out well, and probably good enough for still photography. However for timelapse I need a high quality compensation of vignetting, otherwise getting flicker.
My problem is, that with the ultra wide angle lens distance from camera to chart (A3) is just about 0.5 meters.  I did the shootings outside, in shade, when having a clear sky, and I found it quite impossible not to produce any shadow of myself or the camera on the chart. Thus I got a not perfectly even correction of vignetting.
Can anyone give me tips how to solve that problem with producing shade on the cart? Maybe working indoors with 2 lamps can create better results? Have tried that but found the illumination of the chart so damn poor.

I think your best bet is outside, with possibly a larger chart.  (The two-light setup indoors is problematic esp. with wide-angle lenses.)
Instead of waiting for overcast, try waiting for a sunny clear day with a direct lighting from the sun on the chart, at a sharp angle (almost side-lit) so that the chart is clearly illuminated, but the shadow that the camera casts will be to the side (instead of on the chart itself).

  • Website designed in CS3 now appears small on wide monitors

I designed 3 websites using Dreamweaver CS3 (1 using the 3 column fixed, header and footer and 2 using the two column fixed, header and footer). When these websites are viewed in a non wide monitor they look fine. When they are viewed in a wide screen monitor the right and left margins are really large and the website looks very small. Here is the link to the website: www.quickflash.com. Is there something that can be done about this?
I have noticed this with other websites also. They are so slim and the right and left margins are so large.
    Please advise.
    Thank you,
    Heather

So you published first on flash player 8 and also the html, uploaded and then exported on flash player 10, uploaded just the swf and the html stayed the same?
It could be a problem of the html page being generated for an older version of flash player. Don't know but i had this problem.

  • Ultra wide lens canon

What ultra wide lens should I buy the EFS 10-22mmF/3.5USM 4.5 or the EF17-40 F/4lUSM. And what do you consider to be a great Ultra wide lens.

I have 10-22 EFs and love it for cropped sensor Canons.
It will not fit Full Frame body such as my 5D or 1Ds so I miss it there. That is why I have added Tokina 11-16mm that though is made also for cropped sensor, can physically seat on FF bodies and gives a good image even at 15mm considering that lens is very sharp corner to corner even at full F2.8 stop that is phenomenal in class. If you go shorter that this on FF, you get circular fishish eye appearance that doesn't bother me (Easily cropped at pp or not get there in first place).

  • Difference between Message monitoring and end tot end monitoring.

    Hi,
What exactly is the difference between message monitoring and end to end monitoring?
I read that message monitoring is used  by end to end monitoring. Then why do we have two separate monitoring options?
    Thanks
    Hari.

    End-to-End Monitoring
You use end-to-end monitoring in the following cases:
    ●      If you want to monitor message processing steps in a number of SAP components (to be configured).
    ●      If you want to monitor the path of individual messages through these SAP components, from start to end.
    Message Monitoring
You use message monitoring in the following cases:
    ●      To track the status of messages
    ●      To find errors that have occurred and establish what caused them

End-to-end monitoring includes message monitoring, adapter monitoring, BPE if BPM is involved.. so end-to-end monitoring tells you complete description of your scenario......but message monitoring is concerned only with source message coming to target message successfully generated.

    Hall Palm Desert,
if your Mac monitor has Thunderbolt ports, and the PC monitor is on the end of the daisy chain, then you might be able to do it by connecting your PC monitor’s VGA cable to a Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter (e.g. Apple, NewerTech), connecting that cable’s Mini DisplayPort end to one of the Mac monitor’s Thunderbolt ports, and then connecting a Thunderbolt cable between the other port on the Mac monitor and your MacBook Pro.

  • Ending a process chain with abap program

    Hello friends.
    Can anyone help me please?
I have a problem with a process chain in BW.
The process chain is triggered by the MF BP_EVENT_RAISE in an custom MF. While the process chain works, the custom MF is monitoring the chain´s log.
This process chain have 2 steps:  one is the initial process and the other is a ABAP program. In the abap program there are validations and if exists some error, the program abort and this job (BI_PROCESS_ABAP) is cancelled. The problem is that i have to go to the Tx. RSPC and view the logs fro this chain and in these moment ends th custom MF. In other wors, the MF ciustom ends until i go to the tx RSPC for view the logs.
I need that the program ends the process chain naturally.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards.

    Hi,
You can end a process chain by seeing the variant name and instance name of teh process chain from and finding its corresponding log id,type of process from the table RSPCPROCESSLOG and then executing the standard FM RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH. Here you will have to give the log id,type of process ,vairant name and instance name alongwith the status of the process chain as R to end the process chains.
If you want to aurtomate it you can do that by creating a Z program which will read LOG ID and teh TYPE of process from table RSPCPROCESSLOG on the basis of variant name and the instance name of the process chain and the execute the function module RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH from inside the program.

  • 2000$ worth of 27inch Thunderbolt Monitors and I cannot daisy chain them reliably. Please help.

I've got 2000$ wrapped up in 2 Thunderbolt monitors and I cannot daisy chain them with a 3000$ 15 inch Retina macbook Pro. This is completely unacceptable and I hope someone knows how to fix it.
At certain points since June or July when I first got all the gear I got it to work but never since. The thunderbolt display is recognized but nothing appears on the screen -- this is ridiculous considering how much I dropped on this rig.
    Any help would be awesome.
    Thanks,
