Hype is more crucial than ever

Traditionalists give recount you sport was more decorous in the old days. But between bareknuckle rivals bill challenges on the walls of 19th Century taverns and the push discussion punch-ups of the mouth day, hype has never been out of forge.
What is admittedly is that in this era of pay-per-view broadcasting, in which punters move on their sofas are every bit as important as backsides on way at the scene, hype is much material than e'er.

Carl Froch and George General somebody two many chances to delegate up recreation for their rematch at Wembley Bowl on Saturday - Thursday's last interestingness conference and Friday's weigh-in. Halt by for content.
BBC Climb wades into the shaded account of fighting hype and makes the tailing appeal: if anyone finds pugilism's meaning range between now and Froch-Groves II, delight let us bed where it is.
ohn L Host, enclosing's best gloved class heavyweight endorse,  liked to bluster that he could "lick any man in the business". But it was Muhammad Ali who transformed boxing baiting into an art conformation.
Ali dubbed Sonny Liston the "Big Displeasing Accept", Floyd Patterson "The Game", George Chuvalo "The Washer" and George Gaffer "The Mummy". But it was Ali's genre and one-liners that really got the tills ringing.
Before his ordinal pugilism with Liston in 1964, when Ali won the humans heavyweight diadem for the prime term, the contestant quipped: "I bet you fright yourself to change honorable starin' in the mirror." Before his prototypic round with Patterson,
Ali said: "I'll fag him so bad he'll demand a shoehorn to put his hat on."
Forrader of his tierce fisticuffs with Joe Frazier, Ali started experimenting with rapping: "It leave be a killa and a chilla and a thrilla when I get the pongid in Manilla." So it was, and jillions adjusted in.
Ali was the sterling PR man e'er, but English promoter Don Guitarist is the know of trope. "This is a grievance promote that goes beyond the realms of realness," was how Challenger described the rematch between Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank in 1993.
"It is an small attack ready to explode."
2. Be sensational
Time Ali and Reverend misused verse, violet prose and wit to encourage their fights, David Haye's pre-fight jousting was usually little suave.
In 2009, before a proposed promote against Wladimir Klitschko that after lapse finished, Haye wore a T-shirt portrayal him retentive the severed heads of Wladimir and his senior pal Vitali. Before his heavyweight group right assemblage against Audley Actor
in 2010, the sensitive Haye said the oppose would be "as one-sided as a ring pillaging".
Sir Henry Actor called his compatriot's conduct "bad for the honor of our sportswoman". Haye was unrepentant: "The solon contentious you are, the writer structure inches you get. Because of this slap tattle, we poor box power records." So
they did, and so it goes in envelopment.
That Haye didn't displace often attested threat was downwards to the fact the Englishman's lingua was usually in his cheek. Dissimilar Mike Tyson, whose lingua gave the thought of state ambiguous.

I totally agree.

. I'm running Windows XP and FF 8.0. I'm having more trouble than ever with intermittent streaming and videos not playing all the way through. What is the easiest way to fix this?

That may be a problem with the VLC plugin. VLC has never worked for me properly on the occasions that I've tried it on Windows and Linux, so I have stop using it. There are usually other plugins or media players available that work better.
What kind of media files are that?
For WMP files you can install the new Windows Media Player plugin you can also try RealPlayer and QuickTime if it is about media that those programs can handle to see if that works better.

  • More confused than ever which HDV camcorder to buy

I do whitewater rafting videos. Have MacPro 2.16Intelcore2 duo, 1 gig memory with 111.47gig harddrive using imovie6. Super fast footage processing needed for quick souvenir DVD turnaround. Considering new 3chipHD JVC camcorder with 60gig harddrive for faster than realtime downloading(in theory!). 1)Will this GZ-7 work and if so, how much faster than real time will it download? Also noticed that it is much faster to record a DVD in realtime to a Philips DVD recorder than it is to export to iDVD and burn. I burn the video back to DV tape, rewind and firewire record the movie to the Philips DVD recorder (Since the Macbook doesn't recognize the Philips as a recorder) 2)Which DVD recorder would the imovie recognize? 3) Is there any way to beat real time recording with my current set-up? Here's the concept: Chase a raft trip and get 8 to 10 mins footage. Upload it to an imovie that already has stock shots and music, make a few quick edits and burn as many DVDs as possible before people leave. I have roughly 30 to 45 minutes to produce say six finished DVDs. The longer I look the more confused I am which camera to buy ($1500 budget) and the fastest way to get mutiple DVD copies finished. I've looked at stacked multiple DVD recorders and wonder if they will work to record at real time - say 5 DVDs at once using firewire from imovie or is it just another box of empty promises?

from a movie-makers point of view I'm more on tilmans side... (sorry, Kirk )
sure, Kirk's recommendation, DVDcorders, produce fast instant-dvds.. but including all errors while recording... no extras, no 'good lookin' '
    I would:
    * use any standard miniDV camera (you get water-proof cases for...)
    * for superb quality, get a 3ccd with a large ccd ...
    * I would create a 'frame' project in iM... that includes:
a nice intro, a standard message 'hi, I'm scc, and THIS is your ride of a lifetime..', add some 'stock' footage (=best scenes), perpare an iPhoto album of stock-pics (map of your canyon etc), an iTunes playlist (your Garageband projects )...
after recording, double-click on that 'frame project', and first step, save it under a unique name ('tour 12may07') ... that keeps your 'frame' intact for future use...
import your few minutes of fame, use the crop feature (oops, you're using v5? upgrade to v6... ), add the few scenes, save project. launch iDVD, add your ready-made backgrounds and DVD-intro animation, etc. and select iM project under media... burn disk.
to multiply that disks, use a copier as tilman recommend it, use Toast's copy feature, or use a HDD/DVD standalone (I'm owning a Pioneer DVR520), which also allows a very fast copying of DVDs...

  • I'm now more confused than ever about exporting!

    Hi there,
I have only ever exported now 3 movies from FCE to Quicktime for use on the web. Each time I get more and more confused! So I think so far I have just fluked it. I have replicated what I did (the process of exporting) on the last video about a month ago that video was only 5 mins long and took about 30mins to export and ended up being 23.6MB.
That said, this new video took 5 hours to export. Also, the file size is 760MB.
I am trying to export a 14 min FCE movie.
Does that sound right to you?
    Using Quicktime conversion.
    INTERNET/LAN
    compressor H.264
    Data rate Auto
    compression High
    Frame rate current
    SIZE
    Custom 480 x 270
    AUDIO
    IMA:41
    22.050
What have I missed this time that I must have done last time to get the file size down so much? or if there are any other suggestions on how to export it would be MUCH appreciated.
I have searched forums and watched endless how-to videos on this topic and I just don't get why the file size is so large compared to last time and I am getting more and more confused! I must warn you, I don't speak computer that well and this may be a really stupid question/topic so I'm sorry but, I NEED HELP!
    Thankyou in advance!
    Alana

It seems as though you are doing things OK from what you describe . . . . apart from the audio.
Maybe you didn't quite set it that way?
Was there any difference in the original video format from usual?
Simply choose Export>Using QT Conversion and select LAN/Intranet, leaving all the settings in their default position.
Make sure the audio format is AAC (not IMA 4.1) with a bitrate of 128kbps.

  • I have noticed lately that Firefox crashes a lot more frequently than before. Why? I am careful to install all Firefox updates.

Firefox has been crashing on many sites, not just Facebook. I started using Firefox years ago because of spamming issues with email. Now I get more spam than ever before and many websites crash while on them. I update the Firefox whenever there is an update. If you can't stabilize Firefox, I will be forced to go back to Internet Explorer which I do NOT like.

    See:

  • More Issues with 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 than ever had before

Since updating my iPhone 5S (T-Mobile) to both 8.0.1 and then 8.0.2 I've had more issues than I've ever had with any iOS in the past (with the exception of iPhone 4 running iOS 7, but clearly that is an older phone, not a 1 year old model like the 5S). Have tried resetting, powering off, etc too by the way.
Here is the list of things I've had coming up as issues:
    - Safari Video Playback (Constantly buggy, either never loads, or when it does scrubbing through video is like a broken record)
    - Graphical glitches with top screen (Clock / battery portion) always appearing layered over other programs when it shouldn't be.)
    - iMessage ( SMS and MMS to non-iOS users takes SEVERAL or MORE attempts to deliver even with 4G/LTE on)
    - Mail - When new mail messages arrive in inbox the Notification pops up DELAYED, along with the delayed alert sound (sometimes occurs in Messages/Texts)
    - Notifications pop up and sometimes stay on the screen longer than usual (is this a new feature / suppose to be helpful? It isn't.)
    - Keyboard Graphical issues (when typing in text boxes in emails or websites, the keyboard cursor becomes delayed and has to catch up with my keystrokes)
    - Overall slightly slower (again I know iOS 8 is optimized for whatever the newest hardware is out (iPhone 6), but is there really that much of a difference in hardware between the 5S and 6 that makes this version of iOS 8 so buggy on my phone?)

Hey Chris, thanks for responding, in my above post I mentioned my troubleshooting:

  • Delete DML statment tales more time than Update or Insert.

i want to know whether a delete statement takes more time than an update or insert DML command. Please help in solving the doubt.
    Regards.

I agree: the amount of ROLLBACK (called UNDO) and ROLLFORWARD (called REDO) information written by the various statement has a crucial impact on the speed.
I did some simple benchmarks for INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE using a 1 million row simple table. As an alternative to the long UPDATEs and DELETEs, I tested also the usual workarounds (which have only partial applicability).
Here are the conclusions (quite important in my opinion, but not to be taken as universal truth):
    1. Duration of DML statements for 1 million rows operations (with the size of redo generated):
    --- INSERT: 3.5 sec (redo: 3.8 MB)
    --- UPDATE: 24.8 sec (redo: 240 MB)
    --- DELETE: 26.1 sec (redo: 228 MB)
    2. Replacement of DELETE with TRUNCATE
    --- DELETE: 26.1 sec (rollback: 228 MB)
    --- TRUNCATE: 0.1 sec (rollback: 0.1 MB)
    3. Replacement of UPDATE with CREATE new TABLE AS SELECT (followed by DROP ols and RENAME new AS old)
    --- UPDATE: 24.8 sec (redo_size: 240 MB)
    --- replacement: 3.5 sec (rollback: 0.3 MB)

  • Web Process + Safari now hogging 50-75% more memory than Safari 5.0.5 did

Now that Apple has split Safari into two processes — Web Process (handles page loads and other traffic) and Safari (handles interface, bookmarks, history, etc) — these two processes together are using 50% to 75% more memory than Safari did before the upgrade to 5.1.
Three days ago, the most RAM I'd ever seen Safari hog (after several hours of surfing multiple tabs) was 1.1GB (still way more than it needed, once back down to 3 or 4 tabs).
Today, after surfing only an hour:
    WebProcess 1.3GB
    Safari           552MB
Anyone else seeing this? And anyone have ideas about limiting this memory hogging?

Well, to add a little more frustraton to this thread, a few weeks ago, when I first saw all the bugginess with this "update", I called Apple, was handed up to a higher-level tech person. He told me they were aware of all these problems, and promised me a fix would be released "ASAP".  Well, a few weeks later, & of course, no fix. About a week ago, I called again, & was handed to a different higher-level guy, but this time he gave the same tired, "you should disable all your extensions & plug-ins" blah, blah, blah...   And worse, he told me that he's heard nothing from users about issues with Safari!!!
Well, I then asked him if the problem really was one or some of the add-ons, why couldn't Apple just give us a list of at least some of the more popular ones that don't work. Why should ever single user have to go thru a one by one, trial & error, add one, then restart, then another, etc, since Apple could just do it, & let us know. Of course, that's never happened, so everyone has been trying anything they can, &/or resorting to using other browsers, & posting here & other places. I sure hope Apple quits stonewalling everyone, you would think they would address this, either by fixing it quickly, or at least letting everyone know they are aware of it, and that a fix will be coming, but pretending they no see, no hear nothing, and it's all in our heads, well, ...... it shucks.

  • Just Updated to Firefox 26.0...Hanging Worse Than Ever.

I just updated to FireFox 26.0 a few hours ago, and now when I visit a site like Wonkette.com, the browser hangs are worse than ever before...and they were bad before. My browser is hanging (becomes completely unresponsive) minutes at a time before it either loads the page, or tries to load it and I get a script error (which takes more minutes to pop up while the browser's unresponsive) before it loads.
God help you if you go anywhere with an IntenseDatabase commenting system or any kind of embedded video player. I have on no add-ons or plug-ins, so it is not that (and they are all up-to-date, anyway, but that's irrelevant).
No, this is not something solved by going into Safe Mode - the seeming catch-all cure that never works, either - so don't even offer that up as a solution. Thanks.

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. <br>

  • Installed RT2500-Replug and now my Mac runs better than ever?!?!

I've been using a Netopia USB wireless Card to side-step my airport issues for about 2 months now. There is a glitch that causes the USB card not to be detected on start-up so someone recommended I download this http://mitglied.lycos.de/thomsmac/RT2500Replug.html but before I did the problem rectified itself for some reason and the card started being detected.
Today I unplugged the Wireless card and started up airport to see in the airport update fixed anything for me. It didn't so I plugged the USB wireless card back in but unfortunately the detection problem returned. I download and installed RT2500-Replug and was shocked. I have no idea why but my Mac is now running better that it ever has in the 3 months I've had it. Webpages are loading instantly, Google earth is silky smooth. Not only that but applications are launching faster! I've checked my states and for some reason my Macs RAM usage has been cut by one quarter.
Anyone have any idea what might have caused this? The difference is so noticeable its almost worrying. Might I have had some kind of conflict that the downloading RT2500-Replug might have solved?

You're going to have to give us a LOT more details than that!
Specifically which OS did you install? You say "latest version of Leopard", but that was 10.5. 10.6 is "Snow Leopard". Go to the Apple menu, click About This Mac. That tells you the exact OS version. Give us the processor speed that's there, too, and let us know the approximate (or exact, if you have it) age of your Mac.
How much RAM (memory) do you have installed? Again, it's under About This Mac.
How much hard drive space do you have available? Click on the "Macintosh HD" on your desktop, click cmd-i and look for "Capacity" and "Available".

  • Snow leopard slower than ever

    Hello there,
Since I've installed Snow Leopard ( one year ago...) my mac is slower than ever at the launch ( more than 40 seconds).
I did my best to clean it with Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner, OnyX. ( It fixed my problem of the multicolored circle which was boring me on iPhoto or When i was on Internet...).
I've checked and fixed the disc, it looks ok.
I've delted the soft which started at the launch
I'd like to upgrade my mac to Lion... but first I need to find  what makes it slow.
    What's wrong please?
    Looking forward hearing from helpers

Check this out... Closing down is very fast... here are the errors for the launch
    How can i do? Thanks

  • MBP slower than ever...

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard, then swapped a 250gb 7200rpm hard drive for a 500gb 5400rpm hard drive. Now my computer is slower than ever. It still works, but at a much slower pace. Often the screen will freeze for up to 10 seconds before becoming operable again. This happens when doing the simplest of tasks. I am only running about 5 programs at a time anyways. This never happened on the old system. And I don't think its a matter of the slower hard drive. I was running an old MB with a smaller HD, same RPM, same RAM, and there was no problem. What gives? What should I do?

OK. Let's proceed on the premise it's not the drive. Although, I swapped an 80GB 5400 drive on an iMac G4 for a 160 GB@7200 and noticed quite a difference.
How did you install, clean install with Migration Assistant, clone, Time Machine?
There are some simple troubleshooting steps you can take.
Create a new User go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" (make it an admin acct) and test your apps in this new account, if they are faster the problem is isolated to your User and not systemwide.
If the issue is limited to your user account try starting up Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
If your apps functions faster that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting. Also, delete Users/yourname/Library/Caches. (on the first launch after this some apps will be slow until cache catches up.)
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.
If the issue is systemwide then, you may be able to repair this with the The 10.6.2 Combo Update This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
    Let us know.

  • Will the new Fire Fox run so well as the actua in my pc? I have an Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40 GHz 736 MB RAM and Windows XP Version 2002 Service Pack 2 and Fire Fox 3.6.24 or it will take my pc more ressources than currently?

I have an Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40 GHz 736 MB RAM and Windows XP Version 2002 Service Pack 2 and Fire Fox 3.6.24 or it will take my pc more ressources than currently?

Pay attention to what rkaufmann87 is saying, because I agree.
    Chrome is very resource intensive.
It is possible you are running other memory intensive apps.
You have a lot of 3rd party additions loaded at boot time.  Do you really need all of them?  Even after you get rid of MacCleaner (as suggested by rkaufmann87).
Do you really need the seagate and WD drive software?  The Mac is fairly good at accessing disks without 3rd party intervention.
Any of the 3rd party additions listed by EtreCheck that you do not need, you should consider uninstalling.
    That fact that you have
        171.19 GB    Page-ins
in just about 4 days, says you have about 0.5megabytes per second.  That is a huge load on your disk drive.
Either cut back on the RAM intensive apps, or get more RAM.  At least 8GB, but if your Mac supports it, 16GB.  Crucial.com and MacSales.com (OWC) are well respected by the long term forum contributes.
