I am so sick of Verizon ripping me off and when I call the agents they are so rude to me.

I need help.  I know you say, it sounds like it, but I can't get the help from tech support, the agents that answer the phone or the supervisors.  My MINIFIED #G has not worked for over a year.  I finally realized that I could put it on suspend which I did and I can do it one more time.
I have 2 lines that are due for upgrades and new contracts..  I want an phone 4S and see that this can happen at rthew Apple Store.  should I have the Apple Store get me into an iPhone 4S or not?  I will lose the NE2 which for the cell line is $35 and the data line is $50.  is it possible to use any of the phones like the iPhone 4S like I used the MiFI2200 for?  Can I get a phone these days and hook my MacBook Pro up to it and have the phone act like a Mobile HotSpot?
If that is so there is no reason to gt a 4G mobile hotspot.
what is the best smartphone to get that has the capability to be used as a mobile hot spot and is not too hard?
does anybody else have trouble with this company?  do they treat you like you are a loser?  Iam promised by supervisors that they will call me and help me get set-up with the devices you need but I never get a call. I am only told "I called you but you did not answe the phone.
what is the best cell carrier to use these days?
what is the best smartphone for my data line that has the $50 NE2 hooked up to it?  Every phone I read about says the battery is crappy.  there is not one phone that I read about that has all good marks. Just at the beginning of summer there were tons of people saying I can't wait for fall when this comes out that will be the best time.
I got one of the agents to document if any of my devices do not work they will not charge me restocking fees but I do not know if there are any devices worth the cost this company charges.  I have a MoTO phone that is 8 years old, can't do text messages and I have unlimited.  the data device and line is suspended and I pay $80/mo and I talk to friends with other carriers whohave complicated smartphones, unlimited calls and texts and data and they pay $90/mo.
what does a person who does not know the phones do like me?  Are there any phones that are really worth going through a new plan and getting all set up, sign a new contract and have it be worth it?
there has got to be som people here who can help an idiot like me.  I used to be satisfied with the MOTO basic cell phone and the MIFI2200 3G. it was awesome. I would go on a trip, take my MacBok Pro and HOOK IT UP TO THE MIFI AND JUST SURF THE INTERNET, FIND A HOTEL and that was it.
I just need to know if this company is worth staying or should I go to a better carier like ATT
what is the phone that allows a person to hook their laptop to and suf without ot depleating my data allowance for the month?
I am in need of big help.  thanks for any help and Merry Christmas.  I won't be getting a phone under my tree because nobody in my family knows what ssmatphones are worth it.
should I cancel the data line I saved for the $50 NE2 or save it and get one of the new data devices?  if I should then that means none of the decent phones will allow me to use the phone as a data mobile hotspot or are there good phons that will allow me to use the phone for this purpose?
I thought the Androids were supposed to be the next best thing.  is the Droid a good phone?
I need help big time and help with what is a good phone and if it is the iPhone 4S can I use that phone and have it be easy and use oitas a mobile hotspot.

If you suspended without billing, you are not completing your contract on that line.  Each month you suspend without billing adds one month to your contract period.
I have 2 lines that are due for upgrades and new contracts..  I want an phone 4S and see that this can happen at rthew Apple Store.  should I have the Apple Store get me into an iPhone 4S or not?  Apple may not be able to access your New Every 2, otherwise, it won't make a difference. Yes, you can get phones to use as a mobile hotspot, but you have to get a larger data plan.
If that is so there is no reason to gt a 4G mobile hotspot. If you want a 3G phone (like the iPhone), then you'll only have 3G speeds.
what is the best smartphone to get that has the capability to be used as a mobile hot spot and is not too hard? Look on Verizon's site, each phone listing specifies if it supports the mobile hotspot, and you can read reviews.
does anybody else have trouble with this company? No.  do they treat you like you are a loser? Nope.  Iam promised by supervisors that they will call me and help me get set-up with the devices you need but I never get a call. I am only told "I called you but you did not answe the phone. Maybe they did.  Why don't you purchase your phone in-store and ask them for help setting up your phone if that is important to you.
what is the best cell carrier to use these days? The one that provides adequate service in the areas you use your phone at a price you find to be a good value.  You need to do some research to determine that.
what is the best smartphone for my data line that has the $50 NE2 hooked up to it? If you add a phone to your data line, you'll need a calling plan for that line.  Why do you want two smartphones?  Why not just cancel the data line after the contract expires if you plan to get a phone with a mobile hotspot to replace that functionality?  Every phone I read about says the battery is crappy. Smartphones do not have the 2-3 day battery life many people became accustomed to with basic phones, but many of them last through the day easily, you just have to charge them at night.  Again, read the reviews to determine the best phone for you.  there is not one phone that I read about that has all good marks. And there never will be, no one phone is great for everyone, nor is any phone free of flaws.  Just at the beginning of summer there were tons of people saying I can't wait for fall when this comes out that will be the best time. There's always something new around the corner...
I got one of the agents to document if any of my devices do not work they will not charge me restocking fees but I do not know if there are any devices worth the cost this company charges. If you exchange a phone due to an issue covered by the warranty you will get a new phone in the first 14 days, and a refurbished unit after that.  As far as the cost, if you don't like Verizon's selection, then look at other carriers, or consider buying older phones used from eBay or the like. I have a MoTO phone that is 8 years old, can't do text messages and I have unlimited.  the data device and line is suspended and I pay $80/mo and I talk to friends with other carriers whohave complicated smartphones, unlimited calls and texts and data and they pay $90/mo. A basic one line plan with unlimited texting and 2GB of data on Verizon is $89.99 + taxes/fees.  I think the mobile hotspot capable data plans are $20/month more.
what does a person who does not know the phones do like me? Research, and then play with the phones in store.  Also, buy your phone at a store with friendly staff who can help you get set up.  You may have to go to more than one. Are there any phones that are really worth going through a new plan and getting all set up, sign a new contract and have it be worth it? Maybe, how much do you care about the features and capabilities of a smartphone?  Enough to deal with some hassle and learning curve?  If not, a basic phone may be better for you?
there has got to be som people here who can help an idiot like me.
I just need to know if this company is worth staying or should I go to a better carier like ATT Do some research about coverage and cost, and then make a decision.
what is the phone that allows a person to hook their laptop to and suf without ot depleating my data allowance for the month? Any mobile hotspot use will come out of your data allowance.
I don't know if you would be better off with a basic phone + data device, or a smartphone with mobile hotspot.  There are advantages to both setups.  You can use Verizon's site to do some mock orders and see what the cost difference would be between the two options.
I thought the Androids were supposed to be the next best thing.  is the Droid a good phone? There is a large selection of Android phones, and many people like them.  You'll need to read some reviews and play with a few to choose the one you may like.
I need help big time and help with what is a good phone and if it is the iPhone 4S can I use that phone and have it be easy and use oitas a mobile hotspot.

  • Is this the start... Verizon is blocking Google Wallet which is very nice, and you probably don't know they are creating their own Verizon Wallet

I have been with this company for over 10 years and frankly I always overlooked one thing wasn't to keen on and that was some of the services Verizon offered on their website which many of the account related services they have as apps so you can view from your phone are good and useful.  I have been an Android user since the first Moto Droid to the Incredible and Inc2, then I though I was gonna go iphone, until I was able to use one for a month.  Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad it was my brothers 4G on another network when he upgraded to the 4GS.  Anyway no real problems other than Android just has more to offer so I went with the Nexus Galaxy and stayed with Verizon, after I was flipping a coin to go to Sprint.  Anyway the reason I am leaving Verizon is due to their attempt to create apps to try to compete with googles apps and Verizon charges...  you can find most for free from the droid market(which is the Play store now) such as Navigation.  The free Google Nav is awesome, I also have google voice(free)  so I get text messages emailed to me and vmails emailed and texted to me as well as being able to listen straight from phone by pushing play by the missed call.  Verizon continutes to create these apps that also cost money and aren't near as good.  I actually feel bad for the people who think the VZ nav is in fact the google nav.  Now they are blocking a new service of Google's called Google Wallet.  It's free and really cool, but Verizon blocks you from installing it or using it and Verizon is spending over a 100,000,000 dollars to create their own Wallet APP  that i'm sure won't be free.  So it's not that one app as to why I am leaving, its a number of things that as an experienced user and add the fact that  I work in the tech industry, in sales that I Verizon taking advantage of customers, and I don't work that way or like it.   Okay you go buy a verizon phone, it will have the VZ Nav right there on the home screen, however there will be no google Nav, and for newbies they usually think this is the navigation everyone talks about.  You have to go download the Google Maps which is a turn by turn navigation always up to date and is awesome.  I watch my kid driving down the road at all times for free.   My point is now that their blocking Google Wallet because they are creating there own wallet, which won't be as good, and probably cost money to even spend money meaning they will charge for it.  What is the next brilliant thing that Google comes out with  that you can intergrate into your Google services.    So what is the point of trying to compete with Google on apps, I mean the Verizon wallet?  Why it makes no sense.  Why block an app thus not giving you the luxery.  They have their reasons of course such as security, and other reasons that it could cause problems but, hey if you dare to spend the outrageous amount of money to activate your hostspot to connect your computer wirelessly in a park.  75% of the people who do this are going to be on an unsecured network that anyone can connect to even with security turned on.  So they say there worried about security on the wallet app, because someone may cold get access to your small amount that most people keep on the google wallet but the wireless hotspot is putting much more that money out there. it's putting personal things and files on your computer out there.  I just dont' get why they can't provide their songs and ring tones and apps that allow you to see you data usage and leave the apps for the Google market.  For you who don't know please download google maps and you will have an awesome navivation.  Also google talk, voice, chat, and there apps on the google market for free such as a punch clock for time.  I saw one for over $14 on the verison app store.  So stick to what you are good at ,and don't block apps that other companies aren't blocking including at&T now, and they were in on the $100,000,000 to create this app along with Tmoblie and Verizon.  I use an android because of the capapbilites that google gives you, and the apps that they offer for free or no money.  Go look in the Verizon apps and see how much you will pay.  Most that cost money come preinstalled on your phone so all you have to do is use it and you start getting charged.  This is a 3 year decision making.  I don't like that people can easily get charged for services without even knowing just because the app was installed and they used it once.  Just stay with what your good at and let the android users rightly use the google apps.  After all Google Saved your business if you really want to think about it.  If you didn't have the android OS, how many sales would you be getting?  Where would your company be.  This app was developed by Google which means it ties into everything else such as making online payments with the google card.  Blocking APPS developed by the developer of the Operating System that single handedly changed  the game, and has Made  you as a company far better off than you would have ever been had they not developed android.  Not a good Idea.  Bite the hand that feeds you.

  • How do I set up a Apple TC with a Verizon FIOS wireless modem model  Actiontec 424wi F series.  Does the wifi in the modem have to be shut off and will it effect the FIOS tv?

How do I set up an Apple TC with a Verizon FIOS wireless modem model MI424wr F.  Does the wifi have to be turned off in the modem and then bridge it to the TC?  Will FIOS tv be effected?

Your first call should be to Verizon support to ask them if you turn off the wireless on the Actiontec router....will it affect any of the features/functions of the FIOS system?
If yes, then it would be best to leave the Actiontec router "as is" and connect the Time Capsule using Ethernet in Bridge Mode as a back up device only (wireless is turned off on the Time Capsule).
If you want to use the dual band (and likely much faster) wireless capability of the Time Capsule, then you should turn off the wireless on the Actiontec device to help prevent wireless interference effects that will likely occur when two wireless routers are in close proximity to each other.
Again, the Time Capsule would be connected to the Actiontec router using an Ethernet connection from one of the LAN <-> ports on the Actiontec router to the WAN port (circle icon) on the Time Capsule. Configure the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode as well in this type of configuration.
Bottom line....what Verizon says will pretty much dictate how you can set up the TIme Capsule.

  • Verizon iPhone - mobile hotspot and other questions about the data options

I just ordered the Verizon iPhone. Can anyone explain the options here:
    1) Unlimited corporate email & Web (business and personal email) vs. Unlimited email and web for smartphones (personal email) - what's the difference?
    2) "3G Mobile Hotspot 2GB" - does this mean that there's no way I can share my 3G connection via wifi without paying the extra $20/month?? How about tethering to a single computer (USB, BT, or WiFi) - does that also require this extra option?
    3) equipment protection - what's the difference between Extended Warranty, Asurion Wireless Phone Protection, and Total Equipment Coverage?
    thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Hi
Regarding your #2 question; yes, you must pay $20/mo to use the 3G Hotspot aspect of the iPhone, same as with any of Verizon's phones that offer this feature such as the Droid X, HTC phones, etc. And, there is NO additional charge to tether it to your computer; it's $20/mo regardless. You can still use the iPhone's WiFi feature to search the web which is part of the regular data plan. We're only talking about paying the $20/mo for the "up to 5 devices" jumping on your phone as a hot spot.
I'm an Apple fan, have my MacBook Pro, but my phone is a Droid X. I've been a Verizon member since a year before they became Verizon. Additionally, I am part of the Verizon & Motorola test forum; testing new software updates as they come along.
Something you should know about Verizon's 3G Hot Spot feature; it has issues. Those of us in the Motorola & HTC forums have experienced identical issues with regard to the 3G Hot Spot feature; it disconnects every 2 minutes, even when you are actively surfing the net. Verizon & Motorola Support have been very helpful to provide what they believe are fixes, including: changing the channel, hard resets, clearing cache, etc. It does not work. Most of us believe, this is NOT a Verizon issue, but a phone maker issue.
I also have Verizon's MiFi 2200. It costs $59/mo and is purely a hot spot device; again up to 5 devices. I use it at home, for my lap top and for those who need connectivity. It outperforms the 3G hot spot feature of the Motorola & HTC phones by leaps & bounds, and I suspect it will out perform the 3G hot spot feature on the iPhone. Additionally, you get 5GB of download with the MiFi which Verizon is planning on offering increases to 8GB & 10GB. There is NO plan to increase the 2GB download limitation on the 3G Hot spot of the iPhone & other phones, and anyone who does basic software downloads & pics, knows 2GBS is not a lot space.
So, I would recommend not paying the $20 until this is resolved. If you do, you could pay $39 more for a total of $59/mo for the MiFi, download the software to you home computer & notebook, and end up canceling your home internet service. I did this and have saved $70/mo in my total utilities.
One other important note: Verizon's VZManager Software for their phones & MiFi. If you did pay the $20/mo for the iPhone and decided to tether to your USB port (for power while using) and you were to use the 3G hot spot feature, it will NOT work on 64 Bit computers, regardless if you are using the WiFi feature or directly using VZManager. The MiFi has this same issue. It will only work on 32 Bit when tethered. So, you'd have to reboot your computer to 32 Bit, if you have that ability. On a Macbook Pro, simply restart holding down the "3" & "2" keys.
I have no idea why Verizon can't simply upgrade the firmware, even recent firmware upgrades have not resolved this. Most new computers are 64 Bit now.
Despite this, I use my MiFi 100% untethered and carry my charge cord in my bag as it also works on my Droid, and I presume they may do the same for the iPhone; reduces the need for multiple power cords.
I really looked forward to the 3G feature of the Motorola & HTC phones, but honestly, it's just not there yet; mine was slower than Dial Up, and I'm not kidding.

  • Why I feel Quicktime ripped me off - and how their CS made it worse

Ok so this was about 6 months ago. I had been interested in learning more and more about QT, and finally to spend the money to upgrade to QT Pro. I think the standard at the time was version 6. I authorized a credit card payment for the $60 or whatever it was, and got the authorization code numbers in seconds to upgrade to QT Pro, and I was very happy.
Three days later they came out with QT version 7. It was loaded onto my Powerbook with the other standard downloads, I didnt really think anything sinister of it as I had JUST paid for the Pro upgrade, so I felt no problems, I will get a newer version and thats even more outstanding, a new Pro version.
NOPE, I was given the standard version. I typed in my authorization code that was 3 days old to upgrade the version 6 iteration to Pro, and it was rejected. This, I felt, was surely some sort of error, overlooked mistake, easily solved with a call to Customer Support.
First I got the ROYAL runaround. Apple Support told me that while yes, technically they did accept my money and provide my upgrade authorization, that "Apple doesnt really own QT, and they are just providing a service for their customers, by expediting this type of thing."
"The type of thing where I pay $60 and three days later it is declared no longer to apply to what was supposed to be a Pro Upgrade because the new release doesnt recognize the code? This is what you do as a courtesy for me? I want either my money back or an active code to upgrade V7 to Pro"
Apple would do neither. It was their position that they had to obligation here, and if they gave me special treatment *I loved that phrase* then everyone who ever bought QT would always want apple to give them free Pro upgrades.
To make matters worse, QT refused to assist me as well, and took the position that, since I installed the newer version on my Mac, that not only was I NOT entitled to a Pro upgrade of the version released 3 days after I decided to buy it, but they ALSO would not allow me to have a legal copy of the previous version to which my upgrade code would work to raise it to Pro status! Yes, they told me that they had revoked my upgrade code so that it would no longer work even if I wanted to downgrade to version 6, because by installing the "Improved" new version 7, I entered into a contractual obligation which voided any end-user permissions I may have had claim to if I had not allowed my Mac to run its usual weekly upgrades and patches downloads.
If I wanted to pay them another $60 or whatever, I was welcome to a functional copy of an upgrade code for the new version of QT.
    I declined.
I was amazed that everything happened the way it did. I got screwed coming and going, by Apple and by Quicktime, and all I wanted to do was to enjoy what I felt was a nice program and which I had reached that moment - you have all felt it - like when shareware works so well you whip out the credit card and give them $20 for unzip or whatever? Well, I had decided this about Quicktime, and they turned around and reamed me. I can say I have never been so fouly treated by a software company, not even Microsoft.
The perfect icing on the cake of course was that my credit card would not stop payment because I told them the truth of the whole thing and they said that if that was the case then I had to right to dispute the charges, the software company may be rude and so forth, but they were clearly within their rights, said my credit card rep.
I paid the card in full and canceled it.
    Thoughts on this?
    Gileas

While the question was answered long before the excellent post in reply to mine (and following which the thread was locked... I do not see what the need for that was, I was not finished explaining my situation by answering the cogent and first rate questions posed by the reply poster.) There remains the questions that I felt were essential to the issue, not that the software company had a legal right to do what they did, but that by doing so with such disregard for my concerns and my sense of having been treated with total disregard, that what was essentially accomplished was an unresolved animosity toward the way this was handled. To anwer the poster's question 'why did I wait so long to post this?' is to overlook the essence of the whole episode - that being one where after a year of keeping busy, working, vacations, raising kids, etc etc I still feel so poorly treated by the way this was handled that I posted about it at all.
Of course I made a series of errors, of course I could have done a better job of researching what was going to happen, but I also expected the company that I had just paid to act in good faith, and that Apple, who had just collected roughly 3,000$ for my pbook G4 would have tried to resolve the issue in a way that did not alienate me.
I had hoped for a solution where both parties felt they made an effort to compromise and reached a conclusion they could both feel was adequate, rather than feeling alienated, upset and ripped off.

  • How does Verizon expects me to let my unlimited plan go if they are not offering anything remotely close to it?

My husband and I stopped today at a Verizon store in Fort Myers, just to check out of curiosity the deals they were offering regarding the new Iphones (we have Iphones 4s) currently we still have our unlimited data plan; everything sounded interesting at first, phone features are nice, lady rep was nice, until the real question pops up; what will be the plan change since they don't offer unlimited anymore? (if we get new phones we can't keep our plan)
Their response: Ohh well if you want to keep paying the same per month then you unlimited will be downgraded to a 2GB data plan..... WHATTTTTT!!!! never mind our current usage is 6GB on a 4 phones family unlimited plan..... on top of that she added, well due to your usage you may need to get the 10GB data plan = $100 + phone line per phone + taxes ..... which will add between $ 40 to 60 to my bill and this is not counting any extra ghost charge fees they love to add on the bills every now and then with bogus excuses.... sorry Verizon!!! we have been loyal customers for years and this is what we get??? on top of that we tried to get a hold of someone at customer service over the phone and they put you in hold for over 40 minutes.... extremely frustrating and disappointing.... Do Verizon knows the concept of CUSTOMER LOYALTY? ....

Well Mr. Helper, what can I tell you, it seems you have the numbers all figured out but reality is that currently with taxes included on our unlimited plan we are paying less than 200, so there are my additional 60, I still don't see the advantage of dropping my plan.
On top of that while navigating thru this site and others, investigating options, there are a good number of unhappy customers on this and other issues and sooner than later Verizon will face legal consequences to their contract  irregularities, and even though we are aware of Verizon intentions of dropping everybody from the unlimited plan, that is not what we signed for initially and to do it without a customer consent well, to me simply implies a breach of contract.
The main problem we found is that its not reasonable for a customer on an unlimited plan with an average data usage between 5 and 10 GB to be expected to happily say yes and sign a contract to downgrade you to a 2 GB plan, and try to lure you into it with false or better saying incomplete information and that's a fact since every rep at different Verizon stores give you a different explanation of the plan or the "benefits" you get with it., what they don't explain is that you may be subject to additional ghost charges and on risk of getting your data usage inflated in order to push you into higher plans/fees (I read far enough complains about this issue on THIS forum).
So perhaps if, as you say they are leaving customer without any options, I would have no choice but to sign a 10 GB plan and suck in my higher bill, but Verizon is not giving me any confidence or assurance that I won't get any surprise charges on my bill and I say this knowing for sure that there is NO WAY POSSIBLE we can use the 10 GB a month, that is concerning.
How are you paying $200 with 4 lines?
    700 Minutes nationwide
    Line 1 $60
    Line 2 $10
    Line 3 $10
    Line 4 $10
    Unlimited text $30
    4 unlimited data plans $120.
    TOTAL $240.
Unless you're getting some work related discount.
In order for Verizon to be in breach of contract there has to be a contract. If your contract is up them there is no contract. Also this from your customer agreement that you AGREED to.
CAN VERIZON WIRELESS CHANGE THIS AGREEMENT OR MY SERVICE?
We may change prices or any other term of your Service or this agreement at any time, but we'll provide notice first, including written notice if you have Postpay Service.
Thirdly no one is forcing you to sign a contract. Verizon gives you the option to keep your unlimited if you pay full price for the phone. Verizon doesn't have to even have to offer that. Eventually everyone is going to have to be on a More Everything plan and there isn't a unlimited data option on that for obvious reasons.
There aren't any ghost charges and my data has been correct every month. Hmmmmmm. Maybe I'm just special. I guess I'm on some "do not overcharge" list.
If you really need unlimited data there is T-Mobile or Sprint.

  • Can I sign up for a month of data with Verizon without auto renewal and how long can I go without using my sim card before it is deactivated?

When I checked out Verizon's data plans online, the only option I saw that did not involve automatic renewals was the option to pay $5 for a day of 300 MB. The other options (e.g., $20/month for 1GB) all appeared to involve automatic renewals every month unless I go in and cancel the plan. However, during a chat, a Verizon representative told me that auto renewal of the prepaid plans is an option that can be avoided, it just isn't listed in the online information. Has anyone found a way to only sign up for one month of data without having to cancel the next payment?
Also, when I looked online at a site that compared data plans, it stated that one needed to use the Verizon network every 4 months or else the sim card would be permanently deactivated. But in a couple of online discussions, the limit was listed as being 3 months. Verizon told me 6 months. Does anyone know which is currently correct?
Finally, I have heard that if the sim card does become deactivated, Verizon tends to insist on making one buy a new one with a regular data plan and not the prepaid options.Has anyone had any experience with this?

GeekBoy.from.Illinois thank you for replying. I tried the Verizon support forum, but before I can ask a question there I need to register, and the first step in registering is entering my mobile phone number. Since I don't have a Verizon phone, I can't register and, therefore, can't ask any questions. I did look through previous questions and answers, but it only confirmed that Verizon employees do not give out consistently correct information. I guess I will try talking or chatting with two of three more of them and hope that whatever the majority answers are will be the correct ones.

  • Verizon Wireless Network Extender and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Customer Service experience

It was a dark and stormy night...
For the past eight years, I had been happy with Verizon wireless service. Great coverage and rarely a dropped call. However, all of that changed when I moved into a lovely mid-century modern condominium. The solid concrete walls and ceilings were blocking my attempts to communicate with the outside world (i.e. order pizza).
Enter the Verizon Wireless Network Extender! My own personal cell tower! Alas, the VWNE was $250, which was a lot of money. So, being the resourceful recycling advocate that I am, I procured a refurbished one and hooked it up to my network. Then I called Verizon to begin what would soon become one of the Bottom 10 Least Enjoyable Experiences in customer service history (note: obvious foreshadowing).
The first technician I spoke with was Benjamin, who was actually quite helpful. He noted the VWNE's MAC address and other information before attempting to allow me to access my unit. But he could not. Why? Apparently the unit was still registered to another Verizon customer. He told me the matter would be forwarded to "Verizon Correspondence Support" who would contact the registered owner and get their approval to reassign the unit.
A week later, I called in to ask about the status of my request, but was told by Darryl (another tech from the VWNE department) that the "Verizon Correspondence Support" department did not exist. Did. Not. Exist? Fine, I explained the situation again, and Darryl eventually told me he would submit a special access form which may resolve the problem. He apologized for the mixup, thanked me for my patience, and told me to wait 24-48 hours for his return call with the results.
120 hours later, I called to ask about the status of the change access form because I had not received a callback. Michelle, another representative of VWNE support, told me there was no record of this form having been submitted. No. Record...? After which, she made no effort to help me after reading through my transcript. In fact, quite the opposite. To paraphrase...
"I'm sorry we wasted two weeks of your time leading you to believe we had a solution. Actually, there is no Verizon Correspondence Department, there is no special access form, and no tech will be calling you back. Furthermore, I will not allow you to use our unit because the previous owner hasn't filled out Release Form 27B stroke 6. For all I know it might have been stolen. Perhaps by you? I guess we'll never know for sure, because I won't contact the owner for any reason. In fact, there is nothing I can do to help you whatsoever. But if you like, feel free to throw our network adapter in a landfill. Thank you and have a nice day."
OK Michelle, here's the deal. I don't even WANT this doohickey. You see, all I want is for my phone to work. That's why I am calling you. To get THIS piece of your equipment working, at my expense, so that I can continue to be a Verizon customer. Seems like I'm doing my part. Why is this so difficult?
    "Sorry"
Lesson of the story? DON'T BE A MICHELLE. If a customer is in trouble and you can't solve his/her problem, contact a supervisor and work out an alternative. In my example, perhaps Verizon could have provided me with an "official" VWNE? At a discount? Or have a technician sent out to examine the signal? Really, *anything* is better than being brushed off. After being brushed off.
    After being brushed off.

Follow up: I acquired another VWNE from a local seller, just in case he had to be contacted for the Nuclear Priority Phone Release Code (geez). Ironically, it wasn't necessary, because said fellow had already left Verizon after too many negative customer service issues. Oops.
The good news is that Verizon was able to properly activate the second unit. I was connected to a VWNE tech named Bertha who was VERY helpful and treated me like a human being. Which made all the difference and restored my faith in humanity. I requested that my story be relayed to upper management so that the hordes of secondhand VWNE buyers wouldn't also get burned by Verizon's "hands off and look elsewhere" policy. Bingo. Finally. Done.
Epilogue: Until Verizon eases up on their needlessly stringent policy, beware the unchecked VWNE! Be sure to get the MAC code and check it with a local store/tech support before buying it.

  • Can't get the updated Verizon Messages app to work on wifi as the update claims it will

I received the update to the Verizon Messages app yesterday and when I opened it, it said the smartphone will now send and receive text messages over wifi when the cellular network is not available.  I have been unable to make this work and I contacted Verizon and the tech said that obviously it will not work on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, but it said it will work on my device when I look at the app store.  Any ideas?

Yesterday morning, the icon appeared telling me that Message+ was connected to WIFI, however, all day today, I would have it show that I had messages, I would look on my pulldown and it would show that I had messages, but when I went to the app, the messages had disappeared.  The same thing has been happening with my email.  The native email app would not pull down my mail folders, so I had to load a 3rd party app the does pull them down, but then it loses emails.  This is the 2nd Note 3 I have had.  My original started giving me a black screen when I tried to answer a call and I would have to reboot the phone and call them back.  Now this replacement loses email and messages.  In my business, these are very important.  Not sure what I am going to do, not happy with my choice of phones at this point.  Thank you for offering to look into the problems for me, I appreciate it.

Please explain why I have not received my $200 iPhone 6 Trade In Promo   Gift card. I sent it to Trade In Center in packaging sent to me by Verizon on November 26, 2014. I have called the Trade In Support team 877-835-2024 to check status and receive a different response each time I call. 1)it was received and it takes weeks/months to perform analysis on the device 2) you sent it to the wrong address 3) just wait 4) i will 'expedite' your issue. I've asked to speak with supervisors and the CSR will not let me speak with anyone confirming 'you will just be told the same thing I am telling you'. Well - nothing ever comes of it. Please assist. I have been a Verizon customer for years and am frustrated with the lack of customer care. Like many others I am ready to switch carriers.

I wanted to add my voice to the growing chorus of people complaining about VZW's trade in program. i received the exact same excuse for denying the full value of my perfectly good and DEACTIVATED iphone 4s.
i DID manage to get through to the trade in team, and after explaining the situation, i was told that my problem could be escalated the the tech team. the anonymous trade-in woman transfers me to the normal VZW cust support line... huh?
i wait again and finally get through. unlike the trade-in woman, the cust support rep immediately identifies himself. willie was as helpful as he was allowed to be, but sadly, that wasn't very much. the trade in people and VZW hold all of the cards.
THEY say that the de-activation lock wasn't turned off, i say it was.
there is no way to prove either assertion.
    there is no appeal.
they just deny, deny, deny, as evidenced by all of the other complaints posted here and elsewhere.
willie WAS able however, to get me an additional credit for my 'inconvenience'.
while i genuinely appreciate his effort on my behalf, it doesn't absolve the company from the way they handle the trade-in program, whether it's farmed out to a 3rd party or not.
i will be filing complaints with the PSC, BBB, and NYS Att'y General.

  • Verizon data is ripping me off....

So I made the switch from TMobile to Verizon because I got tired of waiting for Tmobile to get the Iphone.  Now in order to do this I paid a $200.00 cancellation fee. However, since I had an unlimited data with Tmobile and they had a data tracker, I was able to gauge my data usage for the last year and a half. So when I switched, I knew exactly what my average data usage was.
-On TMobile I averaged 1.5 to 1.8 GB and that was daily streaming and downloading Spotify music, watching YouTube videos, watching videos, email,      heavy app usage, hotspot.
-So I figured since I had an Iphone before and I knew that I would be on WIFI most of time and would be careful not to use my phone for videos and minimal streaming, I would probably use half the data.  So on Verizon's network I didn't really watch videos or stream music and uploaded music while on WIFI so I would not have to stream.
-On Mondays and Wednesdays I'm at school or home with WIFI continuously at home and with WIFI in all areas of my school.
-On Thursdays and Fridays I'm at work with barely any signal inside the building and since I'm at my internship and why would I be  downloading stuff if I'm in training.
-Sure enough, I was surprised that I was messaged on 10/11 that I was at 90% of my data cap, but I figured this might be viable and it might be due to my heavy usage on the first few days of having the Iphone.
-I did some research online and saw some article about verizon users being charged with WIFI charges if their carrier settings weren't set to 13.1.  I double checked my settings and they were correct.  So it was still kind of fishy since I was on WIFI half the time.
-On 10/11 I checked my data usage and I was at approximately at .91   So I went ahead and updated my plan to the 2GB plan which was retroacted to my start date.  Too my surprise I got a message saying I was at 75% of my data on 10/15.  THAT'S 4 DAYS!!! IN 4 DAYS I WENT FROM .91 TO 1.57 GB.
    WHATTTT??
-I called and they weren't much help.  They said I could check my usage online so I did and here are a couple of immediate things that caught my eye.  They were charging me for downloading stuff at 4:16 a.m. while my phone was on WIFI and between the hours of 10:00 and 10:30 while my phone is on WIFI in class.
    - I went into the store and the guy said it might be the carrier settings and without checking them, he reset my network settings anyways. I told him I had checked that online and was pretty sure the settings were correct.
-Since then I talked to some people on the phone and they said I would have to wait til my next bill and then they will credit me if I go over my plan and see if the problem has been resolved, however, I will have to follow up.... like my time is not worth anything.
-So today I checked my usage and there were still charges against my data plan this morning when I was sleeping at 1:16 a.m, 3:42 a.m., 5:00 a.m, 7:02 a.m.,
-What is going on... Verizon, and now I'm checking and I know I was on WIFI at 9:59 a.m. going into class late, because itis right after I got off the phone with your customer service rep and there is heavy usage there.
How can I continuosly use my phone on TMobile network and barely get to 1.5 to 1.8 GB monthly, and with your phone go from .91 to 1.57GB in 4 days.  that would equate to 4.62 GB a month when I am at least on WIFI half the time and try not to use your network for half the things I used TMobile for. How do you figure????
So I feel like I am being ripped off.
Switching wasn't cheap. I paid $200.00 to switch, $35 activation, bought the 64GB Iphone for $399, bought Apple Care for $99, and also subscribed to your insurance and a significantly more expensive cost of plan vs. TMobile only to find out you are continuously charging me for data that I am not using.  And you cannot attribute it to the glitch, specifically because you guys reset my phone yesterday and this morning I was still charged while I was on WIFI.
I did not sign up so I would have to track my line item usage every day to dispute with you every single day.  I did not pay more than $700.00 to be ripped off.  And your CSR reps are saying that I can't dispute it until I actually get the bill.
Listen, I have a very busy schedule this quarter at school.  You are trying to take advantage by charging for phantom data usage.  I would like for you to let me out of my contract without penalty for breaching your terms and inconsistently charging or you just don't charge me for data for the final two years of my contract.  If you can't guarantee that you will charge me accurately, then you shouldn't be charging me for it.  I'm looking into small claims court already, posting online  the social networks: Facebook, linkedin, Twitter, etc where I am connected to lots of people. So if you would like me to not do that the resolution is to let me out of my contract. I just paid 200.00 to be let out of one, and i refuse to pay for another one when clearly it is not because of a lack of loyalty but a lack of Verizon unlawful charges.
LIke I said, Here is a compromise I can think of that would work for me and is fair:
-I would settle for even paying for the 1GB plan and not be charged for the overages for the next 2 years.(If you can't accurately track my data and are inaccurately charging me for more than I am using this is fair.)
    Other options:
-No charge for letting me out of contract.
-I can return the Iphone to you and you refund what I've paid for the first month and the prorated month,  activation fee.(This is about 140.00 total), or you can pay me 200.00 that I paid to cancel my TMObile account.   I think the 140.00 would be a better deal for  you and I will eat the 60.00 for my stupidity in switching...no restocking fee.  You can also refund the price of apple care.
-You can keep me on contract and not charge me for data for the next 2 years.
-You can play the "WE value you as a customer but we can't do anything except keep overcharging you incorrectly and make it difficult for you so yo can try to give up game", see me in small claims court, and see me post on social networks continuosly over the next 2 years until you let me out of contract.
I won't be surprised if the response is the last one, because Verizon is so used to making there customers whole....sarcasm there.
    Take your pick.

  • VERIZON RIP OFF PROJECT!!! BEWARE

I purchased a smart phone in November of last year. My bill remained constant for two months, then at the beginning of the year it doubled...and has been constantly over $230.00 per billing cycle this year....
I was puzzled as to why, my phone habits hadn't changed...the only thing I had done was buy the "smart" phone. I began to look a little further...and did not have to go far...
Have you noticed that the "smart" phone will let you switch between calls? Where is the disconnect button for the call that you briefly switch to? There is none!! So when you switch to the incoming call however brief, the minutes keep rolling until you hang up both calls completely!!!
They have made a phone that is "smart" for their pockets, while cleaning yours out unbeknownst to you.
I called Verizon and asked for a complete audit of my account...so I could prove what they were doing, while bringing it to their attention. I was told "how do we know when you disconnected the call?"....WOW That response lead me to believe that they know what is going on...and the fact that the audit was not conducted.
If you are having the same issues....respond to this blog and maybe we can get them to listen and fix this problem...or we can get the FCC involved, and start some class action movement!!!

tOTAL ALL TOGETHER , VERIZON OWES ME $300.00. This all started December 2010 when i purchased a piece of equipment from the Verizon store that was suppose to work with the Xbox so i could get it set up so my son could play the Xbox on line. Well, i purchased it for $99.00. in the mean time they told me it would have to have its own phone line, but that if the product did not work on the xbox to bring it back withing 30 days and i could get my refund for the product plus the early termination fee which was $75.00. well, within 2 days i brought it back because it did not work like they said it would, All i got credit for was the charge i paid for the equipment. I still have not yet got my $75.00 early termination fee which i paid in December. Then I called them and they said that it would come off the next month bill. well guess what, it didn't. Then the next month I took Januarys bill into the store, they loked at it and said that it had never been billed to me in the first place and that was why it didnt come off. REALLY? DO YOU THINK i bought that story, i had it all in writing where it was charged to me. More fussing and nothing happened. Then February bill it was charged on there again. I decided i would pay my bill but i deducted the 150.00 that they owed me before i paid it. Well, guess waht, they shut my phone off for not paying that 150.00. so in order for me to get my phones turned back on, i had to pay the 150.00 that i deducted plus and extra $15.00 a line reconnect fee. Well, i called them and told them i was filing a complaint with the company and asked them to send me a form. They told me i had to do it online. Ok, i was willing to do that, but when you bring the form up that they told me to fill out, you cant fill it out on line. So i printed it out and was going to mail it but guess what no address to mail it to them anywhere on the form so i called AGAIN, they didn't know where to mail a complaint form too. REALLY ? but after 20 minutes of being on the phone with them, they finally came up with an addresss, which i think was bogus cause i still have not heard a word from them. They messed me over good this time, but it WILL NOT happen again. But just to let all you people know, DO NOT buy anything from VERIZON again ! they will lie and lie and lie. And the sad thing is, I took Dec 2010- thru March 2011 bills into a verizon store and we went over the bills with a fine tooh comb and they agreeded with me, they have never given me the ct=redit and also they have charged me 2 times for it. But customer service says that is not how the bill reads. I guess they have a different bill them the one that i get every month.... They are a RIP OFF !!!!!!!  I hate that they bought out ALLTEL because i had ALLTEL for 12 years and never had a problem one with them plus they were alot cheaper too !
Not sure what you are talking about, but an ETF is a one time charge. If you got charged $75 for each of the last 2 months, it seems as if you still have a line with service active. It sounds as if you returned the device, got credit for it and had to pay a $75 restocking fee. Not sure what the $75 charge is/was for the 2nd month.

Please tell me WHY my bill this month is $139.00
    When last month was $121.28
This is the latest jump in costs and the worst
I'm warning people NOT to use Verizon for anything.

To make a statement that if you want a 150mb plan then you don’t need a smartphone just goes to show how little common sense they have. Must be they haven’t heard of WiFi. If the unlimited works for you great, but there are a lot of other people out there that will just be wasting money. Looks like verizon has a couple of fanboys here.
KUDOS to ktm250.... I am sick of the fanboys!! They are getting old and annoying !!!!!
I for one know I only need 150mb and want the iphone because of the great screen and its functions. I own a itouch and a ipad and manage them greatly with only wifi. I just always wished my itouch would be able to make a call so I don't have to carry both the itouch and a cell phone. Well here is my chance.. A iphone. But I an not able to pay extra for a $30 data package.

  • Verizon loves to rip people off on their bills

Hi..I have been a verizon customer here and there and the only reason I switched to another company was because the bill was way cheaper and you get everything just like verizon. And the bill is only $59 for data plan and everything. Verizon charged me $130 for my monthly bill and I just cannot see paying $130 for a cell phone..That is pretty ridicuolus if you ask me. So I went back to the basic phone, where I just got talk and text and my bill this month was $101..Just for the BASIC phone. So Yes I think they need to lower their costs for bills before these other companies run them out of business because they rip people off. And I about fed up with paying these high bills just for a basic cell phone. Any of you experienced this? Please let me know, so I am not the only who is feeling this way. grrr

I guess I am curious as to what plan you currently have with Verizon.
Verizon has a pre-paid plan for basic phones which includes unlimited talk, text AND data for $50/month. That $59/month bill DOES NOT seem way cheaper than this plan.
If you want a post paid plan, you can get a Share Everything plan for basic phones which start at $70/month with unlimited talk and text and 300MB of data/month.
Of course, taxes would be additional.
It seems to me you need to re-evaluate which plan you need with Verizon.
