I tried it again using "save link as", and this time it actually worked! I just now downloaded several more using the "save link as" option, and it works perfectly. Thanks. Problem solved.

Firefox v 3.6.3 running Win 7 Home premium. About every 6th or 7th time I go to open Firefox from my desktop I receive the same msg as the original poster receives. I must restart to clear up the problem. When I select restart it states a forced shutdown is required and asks if I want to proceed. I click yes, the computer restarts and problem is fixed until the next occurrence.

When Firefox updated, my dad could no longer use the browser as it kept saying that is it working off line and to uncheck that option. Where do we find the option to uncheck?

My 82 year old dad downloaded your latest update and he installed it. He used default installation as he does not know how to do custom. When he started up Firefox, it came up with the dialogue that Firefox is off line and that he was suppose to uncheck work off line Box. i looked through my Firefox and I cannot figure out where that box is. When I try to open firefox, it says that a session is already running and I need to close it before I can run another session, I cannot find the session that's running, what can I do?

This happens after I have used firefox and exited the program. When I try to reuse the program I get this message. Is there a setting within firefox causing this or ??? How can I get firefox 4 to stop prompting for handling of a file type? I have already set "always automatically do this" and checked application preferences. Any other things to try?

I am using FF4 to download some .nzb files. I just want it to open the appropriate application when I click to download the .nzb file. Instead, I get prompted each time. this wasn't a problem on beta FF4. I also verified my application settings. Also, not a problem in Chrome or IE . . .

I have an old iPhoto version and it still works with Mavericks, the version before yours, that is puzzling.

I can't get Firefox to finish updates, even over night. Other than that it works ok.

Firefox says I should update asap but never finishes. I don't get an error message, instead it just continues with a message underneath saying it's trying to connect but never does.

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

I have no longer been able to connect to the internet as aiport continueously tells me that "airport has selfassigned ip address and will not be able to connect to the internet.

Up until about a week ago I have not had a single internet connectivity problem. Then, all of the sudden airport will no longer connect and it keeps telling me that "Airport has self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet." I did not change any settings, I didn't touch anything and all of the sudden it just will not connect anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!:)

These steps often sort out this problem...
System Preferences > Network
Select the AirPort from the left hand side
Click on the Locations combo box and select Edit Locations...
Click on + to add a new location, call it "Home" (or anything else you prefer)
Click on Advanced
Select the AirPort tab and enter your network name
Select TCP/IP tab.
Configure IPv4 Using DHCP
Now click on Renew DHCP Lease. After a few seconds you should get an IP address (probably 192.168.x.x)
Click on Proxies tab.
Select Auto Proxy Discovery and Use Passive FTP
Click on OK and Apply, etc.

When I close Firefox and then try to open it, it says it is already running and I have to close it which I can't do. The only way to open it is to first restart my computer which is a pain. If I can't fix this I will use an other brouser!

I am not sure what more I can tell you. I close firefox. So when I click on the icon it should allow me to open it again but I get a message that says it is already running. Either close it out which I can't do since I already did that or restart the computer.

Try holding control, alt and delete down in succession and then a dialogue box will appear with windows task manager. Once open click on the Processes Tab and look for firefox.exe. Highlight this and then click end process. It should come up with a warning but just click Yes. This should then close firefox and allow you to reopen it from your desktop without shutting down your computer. Hope this helps.
